Carpool Karaoke With Madonna [VIDEO]

US Weekly reviews:

Bitch, she’s Madonna. New York City drivers, beware: The Material Girl does not like to be cut off when she’s driving. The Queen of Pop joined James Corden for Carpool Karaoke on The Late Late Show on Wednesday, December 7, and the segment began with their black SUV getting cut off by a Manhattan bus. “Let’s drive up next to the bus. I want to give him what’s what,” Madonna, 58, told the host before calling him a p–sy. “You let people get away with bad behavior, they’re gonna do it again.”

First up came “Vogue,” as the pair began singing and striking poses, including a mile-high leg in the air from the singer. Then she began twerking as “Bitch I’m Madonna” played. Then they discussed whether her children liked her new music, and the Grammy winner admitted that while her four kids “are quite rebellious,” she’s “quite square.” “When I go home, I’m Julie Andrews,” she insisted.

Corden, 38, then changed the subject to men and marriage and asked what it was like hanging out with the late Michael Jackson. “You want me to kiss and tell then, don’t you?” she teased before admitting that she had kissed the King of Pop (with tongue), after getting him to loosen up with a glass of chardonnay. “Baby, I’ve been around,” she said.

  • Madonna has crafted and created an EMPIRE…whether or not you like persona (because truthfully you do not know the “real” person) is seemingly irrelevant as she has been around for over 30 years therefore her cultural impact can not be denied.

Madonna has defended and shed light on gays (and other social issues) before it was acceptable and she continues to make her music as well as her mark!!!

  • BobSF_94117

β€œWhen I go home, I’m Julie Andrews,” she insisted.

So, what’s the purpose of the “persona”? Is there just not enough vulgarity in the world?

    • Ton Layton

Oh please. You really can’t understand that a person might behave differently around adults than they would with their children? Off with your puritan ways!

      • BobSF_94117

Of course I understand that. What I don’t understand is why she’s so pointlessly vulgar. Why? Is it edgy? Is it a guaranteed way to attract “rebellious” youth? I’m sure someone’s done a focus group…

        • Gustav2

When your voice has is limited and you are really a dancer…

        • Ton Layton

I doubt she sees it as “pointlessly vulgar.” She presents herself as she wishes, expresses herself as she desires. That’s a point she’s always maintained and promoted. We need more of it in the world, not less. No need for the shame policing. She’s shown that it’s certainly not going to work on her.

          • BobSF_94117

I doubt she sees it as pointless. I’m just asking what’s the point? I gave a couple suggestions. Maybe you have some insight, since you seem to appreciate it.

          • Ton Layton

First, what behavior is it that bothers you (seeing as “vulgar” generally contains moral judgement)? We would have to go from there since vulgar to one person isn’t vulgar to another.

          • BobSF_94117

Vulgar is about taste, not morality. You’re thinking of obscene, perhaps.

          • Ton Layton

Again, “taste” is subjective. It’s still a damning judgement. Regardless, it’s hard to believe you can’t think of reasons why she might do the things you’re declaring vulgar.

          • BobSF_94117

I can think of reasons. For example, I said maybe she thinks it’s “edgy”. Others have speculated that it makes up for slightly inferior voice abilities. In any case, if people like her so much, and apparently like the vulgarity, maybe they could explain what’s appealing about it.

          • Ton Layton

Definitely! The music comes first: instant pop classics for over 30 years, which contain positive messages of empowerment and sick beats. She readily admits to not being a great singer, but doesn’t need to be.

          • BobSF_94117

And of course taste is subjective. Madonna seems to understand that and seems to understand that she makes a conscious choice to be vulgar, unlike her real self. Maybe she’s trying to piss off her parents.

          • Ton Layton

Well, only one of her parents is living, but I certainly think she enjoys playing the “artist as provocateur” role. I, for one, am glad of that. Her willingness to provoke meant I got to see my very first gay couple depicted in media when I was 6 (the Open Your Heart video, even though it’s only a quick shot of them). Her willingness to provoke thought on AIDS when many were denouncing gay men was wonderful. She now provokes thought on what’s proper for a woman to do, and and for an aging person to do. I think that’s wonderful.

          • TJay229

            ^+9000000

        • By being vulgar, she certainly indicates to *me* that she is NOT someone I would want to hang around with. Got far better things to do.

          • Ton Layton

Did you think she was offering to hang around with you?

        • TJay229

          “Pointlessly vulgar…”

Hilarious… Coming from a gay man who is fighting against discrimination and from being ostracized by others due to HIS attractions.

          • BobSF_94117

My attractions aren’t vulgar. Are yours?

And the Madonna argument is that she is NOT really the vulgar person she pretends to be, so I really don’t get your point. Do you?

          • TJay229

To some, your attractions are vulgar, you dumb useless waste of cells.

My reading comprehension is fine. You’re incoherent.

            Bye.

You guys do realize you are tearing each others’ throats out over a pop diva?

The only thing that could make this thread any gayer is if we were all sipping vodka-sodas with Leslie Jordan and there was glitter raining from the ceiling.

    What a bore.

  • TuuxKabin

Yeah, β€œYou let people get away with bad behavior, they’re gonna do it again.” You should know, madge, you should know. I gladly gave up my gay card, toaster and all when she came along.

  • MrVinegar

The pearl clutching in this thread is delicious. Whenever I need a dose of bourgeois gays I just drop into JMG comment thread. I’ll get off of your lawn now.

  • Frank McCormick

Whoa! Is this the “JoeMyGod” or “Queerty”.

If we’re going to play bitchy queen, it should a least be entertaining.

    • Latebrosus

Queerty is the Breitbart of gay websites I tend to visit.

      • Latebrosus

I mean in their comments sections. The content itself is fine.

    • Supercubby

      Are you not entertained?

  • ChrisInKansas

damn, so much Madonna hate. She’s not our God, you know. She’s just a musical artist.

    • Supercubby

      Heretic! BLASPHEMER!

  • TJay229

    The Queen.!

(I do wonder why they were in that area though when she lives on 8 1st.. Hmm…)

  • Cousin Bleh

The transition from “Vogue” to “Bitch, I’m Madonna” is such an apt metaphor for her career. She used to make elegant, cutting-edge songs and borrow from underground culture like ballroom. Now she twerks.

I’m glad they returned to the classics for the rest of this video. Though I don’t think I’d admit to giving Michael Jackson the idea for Jesus juice.

    • Mike

oh no! She twerked a couple of times, hang her!

      • Cousin Bleh

Or we could simply give her better producers than Diplo. A lot less messy.

  • Capritaur

This puts a smile on my face.

  • MattPS

I was pleasantly surprised that she could sing in tune without the benefit of Auto-Tune. Glad she finally put her seat belt on, too.

  • Do Something Nice

“She is vulgar.” “She can’t sing.” “She’s old.” “She can’t move like she used to.”

    Sometimes I fucking hate faggots.

I’m the least ‘filtered’ person I know and, apart from Adele, whose music was inescapable and really not bad but Christ really not that great, I don’t dis anyone who is otherwise a friend of the LGBT community. But you all have a good time going after Madge because it will help our cause or something.

    • Cousin Bleh

Your quotations are curious. Not a single person on here has said “She’s old.” Projection maybe?

I mean, if you’re gonna hate “faggots,” at least try to be honest about it.

      • Do Something Nice

        Thanks for proving my point.

        • Cousin Bleh

That you hate faggots? Good on you for owning up to it.

          • Do Something Nice

I don’t respond to smarmy bitches, so after this post, I’m blocking you. Have a nice day.

          • Cousin Bleh

You’re not responding because there’s no valid response to “I fucking hate faggots.”

I’ve encountered a lot of people who hate “faggots,” having grown up in rural Georgia and lived for many years in Arizona. They never have a good reason; it’s always because the Bible says or the parts don’t fit. But at least those things have been indoctrinated over generations.

But you, you hate “faggots” because a few people don’t praise your favorite pop star. Do you even realize how juvenile and disrespectful it is to come to an LGBT website and say something like that? It must be super special living such a charmed life that the worst thing that could happen to you is somebody criticizes Madonna.

And PS: The best thing about the Disqus blocking feature is you may not see the response, but everybody else does.

    • Supercubby

You do sound kinda bitter. Maybe smoke a J and put The Immaculate Collection into the CD player?

  • andrew

    That was fun to watch.

  • JellyDonut

I will always have a special place in my heart for Madge!! However, she looks more like Pete Burns with all the fillers and alterations she has made to her face. It is sad that as she closes in on 60 she looks like such a freak.

  • JellyDonut

Madge dear you are NOT english so lose the put on accent

  • JCF

Dang, I can’t do that kick, and Madge is (even) older than I am! :-0
