BROADWAY BABY: Trump Has Tantrum After Hamilton Cast Member Addresses Mike Pence From The Stage

USA Today reports:

Vice-president elect Mike Pence made a surprise visit to watch the award-winning Broadway show Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theatre Friday night, and received a loud chorus of boos from the audience as he made way to his seat. At the conclusion of the show, cast members addressed Pence’s appearance — as a group locked in hand-to-hand — behind Brandon Victor Dixon who delivered the following message:

“Vice-president elect Mike Pence, we welcome you and truly thank you for joining us at Hamilton American Musical,” Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr, the nation’s third vice president, said. “We sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our alienable rights, sir. We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us,” Dixon added. “We truly thank you for sharing this show, this wonderful American story told by a diverse group of men, women of different colors, creeds and orientation,” Dixon concluded to a roaring applause by those in attendance.

Saturday morning, Donald Trump said the cast’s comments were harassment in a tweet and “This should not happen!” followed by another tweet asking the cast to apologize. Dixon, who delivered the comments, replied saying the “conversation is not harassment sir. And I appreciate @mike_pence for stopping to listen.”

Trump treated the press at his rallies like this very frequently. How is this really any different? Worse, he slandered the press and tried to incite hatred. This speech was imploring Pence to be aware of people besides his party.

    • GayOldLady

Trump singled out members of the press in the press pool and excoriated them in front of thousands of his supporters leaving them vulnerable and in danger. He knew it, but he never stopped doing it and in doing so created such a hostile work environment for Katy Tur she had to have Secret Service protection and/or bodyguards to insure her safety as she tried to do her job.

      • Oh’behr

Did you read that Megyn Kelly had to bring security with her to when she brought her family to Disney World because of all of the hate mail and emails she got from Trump supporters. Not that I’m a fan of hers, yet that is also the reality of what Trump has created.

    • MonochromeMouse

Simple, it’s ok when trump harasses and insults others because he is a winner and they are losers, but when a loser insults a winner then a grave crime has been bigly committed and the loser must be punished.

      • Paula

Little Mikey Pence had to have a special. midnight session with his spiritual advisor at the Klan meeting.

      • Uncle Mark

Well, it’s doubly insulting to him being lectured by an “uppity (insert minority epithet here)

    • Gustav2

Pence, the little snowflake, needs a safe space! Was he triggered?

      • ByronK

And Trump is so well known for generously creating safe spaces for so many people via Twitter. SAD!

      • Dreaming Vertebrate

Methinks he was the trigger. His arrogant, smug face is a microagression in itself.

      • StraightGrandmother

        What a great comment.

    • Gerry Fisher

      The statement was kind, IMO.

    • LaChatSayWha

Actually, Brandon Dixon was polite and respectful in communicating the feelings of people pence has been elected to listen to and serve.

I see no parallels between a well-intended and politely delivered appeal and the boorish, violence-tinged name-calling and rabble-rousing Cheetolini engages in.

But damn, Il douche really got riled up… two tweets in 8 minutes. He reminds me of one of the abusers I survived as a child/youth. Any perceived slight of authority – spoken, enacted on tv or even imagined – was enough for him to Lose.His.Shit. Unfortunately, expressing his rage verbally was not enough to dissipate it; he always had to take it to physical violence before he’d stop fuming.

      • StraightGrandmother

Meliana better make sure the cook has his dinner ready on time, that is all I got to say.

      • TampaDink

I expect that trump will eventually kick his rage up a notch & get physical by entering the launch codes.

  • pj

    freedom of speech…..deal with it

    • PLAINTOM

I’m concerned that he intends to do just that.

      • Blake Jordan

The “First Amendment Defense Act” will be rewritten to not only allow ANYONE to discriminate against LGBTQ+s, but also make dissents against Donnie, et. al. a crime.

      • pj

        lrt him fucking try

    • Uncle Mark

      While we still have it

    • Librarykid

OK, what looks like a second tier of breasts is just a fat roll, I hope.

      • David Walker

Contemporary prison wear can be SO unflattering.

  • Paula

    Dear Donald.
Its still a semi-free country. You can’t tell me what to think. Fuck you.

    • Dagoril

You should tell him that on Twitter. Raise his blood pressure a little more. 😉

  • BearEyes

pence is not a good man. he needed to be called out on his bigotry

  • Mikey was triggered. Theater is supposed to be his safe space.

    • OdieDenCO

the theater is a safe space. that is why pence was called out for the hate he represents

    • Chucktech

Somehow, I just don’t see Mike Pence as part of the theater going set.

      • ByronK

Yes, theatre contains all sorts of ungodly things like dancing and sex.

      • Stephen Elliot Phillips

well the royals do like entertainment

      • Doesn’t Larry the Cable Guy count as theater?

        • David Walker

He plays only the big houses, like arenas and stadiums and such. The Richard Rodgers seats 1319, compared to the 15,000, 25,000, and more seats in arenas and the “pack ’em in ’til you run out of standing room” space in stadiums. Larry is an event; if he were “theater,” he’d be a tragedy.

      • LaChatSayWha

I agree. I think he’s more the “get me tickets tonight to the broadway show that’s hardest to get into & let all the librul eleets gnash their teeth b/c I can do anything b/c I’m soooooo powerful” kinda guy.

And he’s such a moron that he thinks people can’t read him and subsequently hate him for being such a festering anal gland. So he whines to Donnie as soon as he gets in the limo, “some of them booed me! And then one of those colored guys tried to talk to me. !”

    • MonochromeMouse
    • ColdCountry

Mikey needs to get used to it.

  • Oh’behr

Donald … will be the best Presidential shit ever putting the waaaaaaaaah into Twitter. I hope he’s crying when he tweets. Dead Mommy, do you see how mean they’re being, again. His trumpian foot stomps! There, that’ll show them. (Umm, yeah, what a royal wannabe asshole you are, uh huh). Sorry, Donnie, there is no off with their heads. You don’t have that much power.

    • David Milley

      Yet.

    • ColdCountry

      Yet.

  • Raising_Rlyeh

The thinned-skinned egotist better get used to this. That is of course until he attacks the first amendment.

  • Pollos Hermanos

Well at least we get to have fun baiting the Marmalade Messiah for the next 4 years.

    • ColdCountry

Coffee. Everywhere. I am so stealing that, it being a bit more respectful and Orange Shitgibbon.

  • Sean Williams

They booed him. It’s not like they gave him electro-shock therapy or anything.

    • Blake Jordan

It wasn’t even the cast that booed him, just the audience.

The cast gave a desperate plea to Mikey, for him to respect all!!!

      • safari

No wonder Donny’s cabal is upset.

      • ohbear1957

And what a scary audience it was! My friend’s 15 y.o. daughter and her friend were up in the balcony. What a nightmare!
Pussy Pence probably pissed his panties when he heard a pair of teenage girls yell “Booo!”

    • John B.

      Or refused to serve him.

    • JCF

They didn’t even defraud out of seeing the show! #RememberTrumpU

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

    ” Wonderful ” Mike Pence ??

No, YOU need to apologize to the entire country for what you have done and are likely about to do.

  • hdtex
  • GayOldLady

This is going to happen Not My President Trump. It’s going to happen everyday from now until the day you leave office and you can do nothing about it.

    • Oh’behr

Just wait until I start giving him my snake sound. Or bee sound. Buzz off.

      • Stephen Elliot Phillips

we all need to start whistling the Hunger Games mockingjay tune.

    • Mark Neé Fuzz

Which hopefully will be within the 2 years called by that prediction professor dude, after impeachment, and ideally in handcuffs.

    • Librarykid

or until the day they all meet with what they deserve, in a miserable way.

  • Bob from CT

Well, Donald to use some of your own words, the wonderful LGBTQ community has been harassed by Mike Pence for years. This should not happen!

  • Dramphooey

“The Theater must always be a safe and special place.”

I could have sworn I saw some right wing memes this week mocking protesters supposedly demanding safe spaces but I must be mistaken.

    • Gerry Fisher

Only special snowflakes need safe spaces. /s

  • Treant

We’re so sorry to take away another safe space where it’s fine for you to oppress and steal from the people. We’ll try to be more careful with your little fee-fees in the future. Not.

  • I though they were extremely respectful. Silence is complicity.

And I find I want to slap these fkers for using phrases like “safe space” and “shamed”. Who’re the “special little snowflakes” now? 😠 You don’t get to whine about shaming or respect, RWNJs. Not ever.

  • Mark Neé Fuzz

Trump is the perpetrator of most of the things that should not have happened in the past couple of weeks. Yet he is going to get his panties in a bunch when a villain is booed in the theater. Full of it as usual.

  • Dreaming Vertebrate

You just know that behind the scenes Hair Drumpf is making calls to try and get some of the cast fired. It’s his MO. It’s all he knows.

  • ChuckinTucson

Better than what happened to Lincoln when he attended the theatre.

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

      LOL – Dare one hope?

      • bzrd

kaka does like the second amendment and told his crowd of haters what they should think about doing on more than one occasion

      • Chucktech

I know you’re being snarky, but no, of course I certainly don’t hope for the assassination of the President of the United States. Not even if he’s Donald Trump. Neither do you.

        • Stephen Elliot Phillips

yeah cause if trump goes down after hes coronated we get a power grab/vacuum and god knows what would fill it.

        • Librarykid

I had my hopes up there for a minute when I thought you were talking about the cry-baby.

    • ColdCountry

      BaDaBoom!

  • TrollopeReader

As he was “jumping” from deferment to deferment during Vietnam, perhaps he forgot the days / weeks / months long protests, drum beats, etc at the White House fence ?? Get your ear plugs ready, Donnie.

    • David Walker

Maybe that’s why he doesn’t want to spend his weekends there.

  • ByronK

Ok, well we can now add theatre to the list of topics that Drumpf is completely ignorant of. NO, theatre does not have to be or ever has been a safe and special place. I tweeted to him to say “read a history book”. Theatre is a powerful medium that has been used to disrupt, protest, subvert, inflame, mock, and bring important issues and questions to the surface. The last thing is should ever be branded as is “safe”. The theatre that was produced in Nazi-occupied France is a good example. What a fucking idiot the man is.

    • Mike__in_Houston

Sadly, “Nazi-occupied France” is an extremely apt analogy. Snowflake Donnie and Snowflake Mikey, meet the Resistance, and we are not going anywhere, so get used to it. #NotMyPresident

  • JoeMyGod
  • TrollopeReader

ps. Donnie — since the times of the early Greeks, through Shakespeare and to this day — theatre has been a commentary on life — political , historical , love and war. If you have any gilt-bound volumes in your “house” you might want to crack them open …

    • bzrd

he needs his lap dancing daughter to read to him

      • He couldn’t pay attention that long, even with an incestuous lap dance. What he needs is for everything to be condensed down to 6 -10 sentences.

  • JoeMyGod
  • Tallulah

“The theater must always be a safe and special place.” Just ask Lincoln.

  • Carl

Yes, liberals own theater. Don’t worry, Pence, you will be the man of honor at all the good monster truck rallies.

    • And tractor rallies!

  • Gustav2

After 18 months of being polite and false equivalencies from the press…

We are mad as hell and you will hear it.

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

I am still firmly in the ANGER stage.
Doubt this little dino will ever evolve to the acceptance stage.
      #NotMyPresident !

      • Stephen Elliot Phillips

I ordered and received my “not my president” bumper sticker.
Now I sit here thinking should I even attach it to the rear end of my car?
I just bought this car last june. A volvo. Yeah that was when I was confident I had a future. If I paste this sticker on my car Im asking for some unhunged brownshirt to smash my windows, slash my tires, or……
Then theres the side of me that says fuck it. stick it on the back window. Youve seen so many goddamn “jail hillary” stickers and shit about obama on the nazi’s cars.

        • Dreaming Vertebrate

My advice would be not to put it on your car.
That’s just begging some TrumpBot to key your car or slash a tire. They really are deplorable.

          • Bomer

Considering his supporters I would also be concerned about getting run off the road.

          • LaChatSayWha

Or shot. These assholes are Really feeling themselves right now.

Be safe so you’ll be around to help us fight this authoritarian nightmare for the Nextel four years. We need you.

        • Skeptical_Inquirer

I’d consider putting it on a Trumpeteer’s car. And when they bitch, say, “Jeez, who knew Trumpeteers were so violent!”

        • David Walker

We still tend not to be violent, so the “jail Hillary” crowd knew that they were safe to share their ignorance. They now feel equally entitled to smash, break, key, bend, fold, and mutilate anything that opposes that ignorance. In other words, either be safe and not put it on the Volvo but be happy knowing you have it, or be safe and put it on a known asshole’s bumper, knowing you’ve put it to good use.

A Volvo should never be the object of abuse.

          • Stephen Elliot Phillips

i like the bait and switch approach. Now figuring out how to sneak onto my neighbors driveway and paste it on his motor home? thats priceless

        • ChrisInKansas

I wouldn’t, but then I don’t want to pay my deductible when a Deplorable inevitably attacks.

My idea of resistance would be a T shirt. I thought of one with large capital letters just saying FU, DT. I wonder where I could get one made online?

          • John30013

Google “custom t-shirts”. You’ll find lots of places.

        • peacfulseas inWA

Here is a bumper sticker a friend had made up a few years back. He is going to make a new batch only with the trump pic. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/3ed005f7f40a6e4af79101b7624a0fb2df66c2d4831c562e0179cc13a17400d8.jpg

  • Paula

They booed him. What about some of the racist, foul things all of your followers called Barack Obama and his family over the last eight years? Or was that O.K.?

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

      AOK: *white privilege.
      s

      • Chucktech

With a dash of christian entitlement and privilege thrown in.

  • Mark Neé Fuzz

Trump likely didn’t watch the videos, or didn’t understand it if he did. In his eyes, anything short of kissing his fat ass is an affront.

  • ColdCountry

I thought Dixon was quite respectful, and very good in his address to Pence. It was the audience who booed him, not the cast, and maybe, Donny, you might think about why. (And get used to it.)

  • JustSayin’

Not necessarily O/T, have you read the entire transcript on how Mr. Bannon sees the world, with a direct line to the Vatican? Know who he is, folks. This is worth your attention…. https://www.buzzfeed.com/lesterfeder/this-is-how-steve-bannon-sees-the-entire-world?utm_term=.drKQOrLyx#.si96ng8EK

    • Bomer

He’s rather fond of using the phrase Judeo-Christian isn’t he?

  • Mike Rasor

So Trump is literally calling on the creation of a safe space. Guess he has more in common with those PC college students his followers deride than he’s like to admit.

  • PLAINTOM

Memo to Donald : Now, you’re the champion of political correctness and courtesy ? Bite my ass.

  • Uncle Mark

Perhaps is Herr Trump went to see this brilliant musical, he would have learned something, and not have felt the need to engage in his usual reactionary tweet-fest. On the other-hand, it is doubtful that Cheetolini processes the attention span to even enjoy the first act.

  • Blake Mason
  • The Sentinel

We must fight this Hamilton evil with more Trump Cups!!

  • Blake Mason

Why would he even wander into a den of liberal ideas?

    • Friday

Expecting to force or spin a tacit endorsement out of it? Just thinking the people he hates will sing and dance for him without a word?

    • Chucktech

Truth be told, I’ll bet he didn’t want to. But he’s heard that “Hamilton” is this BFD and he’s already in NYC, so, you know…

      • He don’t get up to a big city to often so he gets himself a Fodor to see what sites are the top 10 things to do when in New York City.

[yes, i know, bad spelling, wrong spelling and zero grammar, just talking like a Hoosier hick]

  • canoebum

They need to take the Twitter account away from him. Seriously. Our very lives may depend on it.

  • OdieDenCO

oh donny, we have not yet begun to fight.

  • ceeenbee

Maybe, if trump wanted respect for his administration, he could have worked harder and actually won the popular vote.

    • And not hired racists and traitors.

  • Anastasia Beaverhousen

Thank you “Hamilton” cast for “not throwing away your shot!”

    • OdieDenCO

ditto. never pass up the opportunity to speak up.

      • Librarykid

It is my sincerest wish that life becomes unbearably miserable for him, maybe causing a bit of that fat to break loose and block something important.

  • vorpal

“The Theater must always be a safe and special place.”

Wait, I thought these alt-righties like to say that we libcucktards are big crying babies because we advocate for safe spaces for people.

No wonder Trump’s face is so orangey. He keeps burning it with all the ironies.

    • Marti386

NOBODY has bigger “safe spaces” than conservatives. That’s why they created Fox News.

      • vorpal

Yes, this constantly amazes me. They bitch and moan about what babies liberals are because we offer safe spaces, and then they go and build giant echo chambers like Breitbart, WND, BarbWire, etc, which are essentially just the same thing, but in evil form.

      • LaChatSayWha

        cf. church

    • Yet it is us, the liberals, who are called “snowflakes”. I’m not sure what is more delicate than a snowflake, but whatever it is, that is what they are.

OH!!! They are living souffles! They are full of hot air and when you pull them out of the oven they deflate!

      • Librarykid

But you know, when snowflakes combine their weight, they can crush building roofs and avalanches can take out forests and towns.

        • And form glaciers!

          • Librarykid

            Absolutely!

    • Ragnar Lothbrok

Hey @you !! I just noticed several upvotes from your disqus acct. Did you do this willingly or does someone have a penis pointed at your head ??

If I had a penis pointed at my head, I promise you that upvoting Disqus comments would probably be the last thing on my mind, unless it was a level K penis. (You know what I mean.)

        • Ragnar Lothbrok

  • Marti386

    “This should not happen!”

And yet it DID happen, and it will continue to happen, every day, everywhere you go, for the next four years. Everyday we will be here to remind you how much you’re not wanted. You will get no respect as President, or Vice President.

    Suck on it, Trump.

    • Librarykid

From your mouth to the FSM’s ears. I would say god’s ears, but I don’t think god gives a damn now or at any time in history when you consider all of the evil shit that has happened to so many good people. We are just the next group strapped to the tracks waiting for the next train.

  • Igby

I need new glasses. I thought it read, “Trump Has Rectum…”.

    Good, I needed a giggle.

    • eeeeewwwwww! I can’t imagine touching Peeny Pence for any reason….shudder shudder shudderrrrrrrrrr

  • Ernest Endevor

The cast treated him with more respect than I would have. Some in the audience booed him. This late in the run they would mostly be out-of-towners and foreigners. Trump made a fool of himself – yet again.

  • Friday

Such proud bigots, Trump/pence, …such delicate sensibilities. Already cowering and demanding silence when the people speak to them.

Oh, by the way, Donnie, something this office comes with you may not be used to: Being told “No.” 🙂

    • How long before he will be sitting in a gold throne in the Oval Office? And then make people back away rather than turning their backs to him? Will kneeling and bowing become a thing too?

      • KarenAtFOH

The White House is for peons. He will force the levers of power to Trump tower. The Oval Office will be used for storage.

      • thatotherjean

Being President, or Vice President, requires a certain amount of protection from the actions of the angry, the unstable, and the nutcases among us–hence the Secret Service, the motorcades, barricades, and Air Force One. Donald of Orange, like an absolute monarch, is demanding that he and his VP be insulated even from the ideas and voices of the people he governs. Democracy, how does it work?

  • Uncle Mark

Trump’s tweeting speaks volumes about his maturity, his perceptions, and how he intends to govern this country. The president-elect calls for unity after a very divisive and hostile campaign. When a number of artists use their platform to express their grave fears & concerns, Instead of listening, addressing, and calming those concerns, he childishly perceives these as criticisms and lashes out….losing a perfect opportunity to demonstrate a deep desire to unite this country. We are looking at 4 years of petty dictatorship from an intellectual & emotional child

    • Stephen Elliot Phillips

worse I think we are witnessing a dictator in his teething stage. Not yet quite grasping the amount of power he wields, but when he realizes it, we are all in for a bad ride

      • Galvestonian

We all know (or somehow understand) that during this administration something (or many somethings) will come down that will be so outrageous, so fricking’ WRONG that we, as LGBT’s, will fear for out very lives. Maybe it will start small — like don’t shop, buy or patronize businesses identified as gay or that hire LGBT’s. It’ll then escallate into forms of harrassment & physical attacks – with strong incentives to get out or move from the area that you live in. Some areas will likely be more affected than others. Many LGBT’s will flee to areas thay consider ‘safer’ — possibly some areas of the bigger cities, then the Federal Government ( out of pure concern ) will designate ‘special’ areas cut off from the rest of the cities that will offer ‘protection’ to the LGBT’s. The population of these places won’t be allowed to come out of the areas (purely for their protection) and all goods and services will be strictly monitored. Ration cards and photo I.D. will be absolutely necessary and, just to keep track of the LGBT population, small tatoos will be required just to use the ration cards. As more and more LGBT’s are identified in the countries general population they will be strongly ‘encouraged’ – maybe physically ‘encouraged’ to move into the ‘safe areas’ – overcrowding in these areas will occur quickly as the daily influx of men, women and even children arrive in bus and train loads. Then the accidents will start – parts of the safe areas will burst into flames and public services will stop or even completely dissapear. The areas may even be subject to diseases once though long gone – typhoid, colera, yellow fever, plague & God knows what ‘accidently’ introduced by seemingly careless health workers. The greater hetero public will wring their hands and offer prayers for the perverts and shoot any trying to escape because of the greater danger of spreading disease. Hetero science will strongly advocate gene ‘adjustment’ to prevent the birth of anymore LGBT’s – any member of society not cooperating will be sent to the ‘safer’ areas or jailed.

        • TampaDink

Every step of this nightmare has crossed my mind several times in the last 10 days.

          • Galvestonian

Oh… it’ll be a gradual thing – first the packing of the Supreme Court and then the rescinding of anything that pertains to LGBT’s and equality, marriage and etc. — Possibly then a few edicts to tighten up the LGBT population and it’ll just get gradually worse. Like cooking a Lobster – put him in warm salty water and then gradually – very slowly – turn up the heat – the lobster doesn’t catch on and then …well then he’s dead and being cut up to dip in butter.

          • TampaDink

You are spelling it out, almost exactly as my waking nightmares have since the early hours of 11/9.

          • Galvestonian

All I can say is make sure you get your ‘papers’ in order. Photo I.D. and Passport especially – birth certificate, too. It might even be prudent to open an overseas bank account in the U.K. or Canada, France or Spain – check out South American Banks, too.

          • TampaDink

I was born in Germany (as an Army brat)….I was less than a year old when my dad was transferred & I’ve never been back. I wonder if they’d consider taking me in.

Yup. “Brandon Victor Dixon, IRS on Line 2”.

    • Nick in Pasadena

What’s surprising is that anyone is surprised by this. Trump showed his true nature again and again during the campaign. Why would anyone seriously think he’d change once elected?

      • Jamie_Johnson

That’s not fair! He did change his position on draining the D.C. swamp of lobbyists, now hiring most of them for high-ranking positions.

    • Librarykid

Can’t you imagine Pence calling poppa Trump and whining, “They hit me and kicked me and beat me all up.”

      • David Walker

Or even worse, “They were exercising their First Amendment rights after a show about ‘murkan history. We need to shut that down.”

    • MattPS

This morning I saw a video of the man who ghost wrote Trump’s bestseller “The Art of the Deal”. He said that Trump has the attention span of a three year old and the only way this guy was able to complete the book was by recording several of Hair Furor’s phone conversations. He also said that if Trump, because of his short fuse, brings a nuclear disaster upon the world, he will personally feel responsible for having contributed to the president-elect’s notoriety. What a terrible weight to feel upon your shoulders.

  • royinhell

Aside from that, Mr. Pence, how was the play?

    • Treant

      Mee-ow.

    • ooooh! You are feeling evil today, and I like it!

  • Ta-er al-Asfer

Mike Pence needs a safe space?

    • Reality.Bites

Yes. He’ll ride there on the short bus

    • KarenAtFOH

      Cucks need protection.

  • Gerry Fisher

Well, Donny, at least the “Hamilton” cast didn’t call Pence names, ask the other audience members to rough him up, and have him thrown outside without his coat.

    • SFBruce

As far as I can tell, there was also no pussy-grabbing.

  • safari

Did he just all for a safe space?

    • Lakeview Bob

I know. That comment made me almost spray my tea all over myself.

  • TexasBoy

If you and Pence can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

  • Brian in Valdosta

Huzzah! Well done, my fellow human beings. Well done, indeed.

And to correct you, Mr Trump, this is not harassment. This is precisely what a president and vice president should expect from its vigilant citizenry. They have a voice and they can make it heard everywhere you go. And loudly.

  • LLDEM
  • Mike Knife

Trump and his evil followers are using psychological warfare when they say bad things about minorities to make the minorities look bad. That turns people against each other and causes problems and trouble.

    • Lakeview Bob

Remember when the “W” thugs called people opposed to the invasion of Iraq unpatriotic? Same thing. The right wing is real good at turning around other peoples words.

  • Captain Jack

People hate you , they really do!
What did he think was going to happen, everyone stand up and genuflect?

    • KarenAtFOH

That will come later, when the high from being merely President wears off.

  • j.martindale

Somewhere I heard that Trump was temperamentally unsuited to be president. Proof of the pudding in the tasting.

    • thatotherjean

“Temperamentally unsuited is about the kindest way you could phrase what Mr. Trump is.

  • rednekokie

I waiting for the joyful time when “orange blossom” himself gets booed at just about every event he attends. If he’s smart, he’ll hole up in the white house for the next four years, for we aren’t going to give his yellow ass a minute’s peace!
    But, he’s not that smart!

    • Stephen Elliot Phillips

I hope someone screams “dictator! you lie!” at his state of the union self aggrandizement speech

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

I’d like the GOP to fume and say “It’s so impolite” then have that incident brought up where they were high-fiving their GOP dickhead for doing that to Obama.

      • TampaDink

That would be so disrespectful….unless a Republican did it. ;-p

        • Stephen Elliot Phillips

Oh wouldnt there be such a monumental breakdown of butt-hurt on the right if pelosi, or somebody, screamed that.

          • TampaDink

They’d demand that the offending party be removed from office as well as all Democratic party leadership. Impeachment hearings would commence within a week.

  • Lazycrockett
  • If he is this thin skinned we are in for a very bumpy ride.

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. I’m sorry but I thought Trump supporters SCORNED ideas like safe places. I thought they wanted to hear it like it is and hated politeness.

(It’s just more “one set of rules for thee, and another for me” nonsense.)

  • TexasBoy
  • KQCA

Just like the fifth-grade schoolyard bully, he can kick and push everyone else but he can’t handle a simple suggestion to behave nicer.

  • charemor

Note to Trumpelthinskin; get used to it, This is only the beginning.

  • Tiger Quinn

Freedom of speech should not happen? Yeah, I know you’d like that Trump, and that a lot of your followers would like that too – but people who were far better at being evil with far more support wanted that and they didn’t get it. You’re not going to, either.

  • sword

Trump wants to make illegal for Media to criticize him. Now he wants to make it illegal to criticize him and his administration in any form. Does this sound familiar? Wouldn’t be surprised that Putin hasn’t already sent over Russian “advisors” to help Trump set up his oligarchy.

    • Hue-Man

The term is Lèse-majesté and is found in a number of countries, most recently applied vigorously in Thailand.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%A8se-majest%C3%A9

    • TampaDink

Those advisors are already here. Both Lewendoski & Mike Flynn have a history of being very chummy with Putin.

      • JWC

and so was trumps previous manager

  • we’re still here

Mediate had a nice Facebook headline on this : ‘Apparently, Donald J. Trump feels Broadway theaters should be safe spaces.’

  • Tiger Quinn

Wait until the inauguration. That’s going to be one “media event” he won’t be able to control the narrative of: there will be crowds, and they will not be friendly.

And the ones that ARE friendly to him are going to stain his inauguration photos with White Power slogans, so that’s good too.

  • Robert Adams

Just like at a trump rally, the person being booed should have been thrown out.

  • Bad Tom

So Trump is upset that people DISRESPECTED Pence?
Trump set the tone for that 18 months ago.

  • EweTaw

Uh, I suspect Victor Dixon meant to say “inalienable rights” in his address to Pence. But I doubt Pence noticed.

    • David Gervais

IIRC, the Declaration of Independence text is UNalienable rights.

      • EweTaw

What a difference a vowel makes. I’ll alert Dinah Washington.

    • Claude Jacques Bonhomme

He did say inalienable rights (50 sec. into the above clip). It’s a typo in the text.

      • EweTaw

        Thanks. I’m loathe to watch most video clips. They do go on . . . and on . . . and . . . .

  • so the cast of Hamilton was just exercising their Constitutional Right to Free Speech. tRump says this should not happen.
    Why does tRump hate America?

  • John Calendo

“So unfair,” tweeted the young Tween of 70, soon to be King of the U.S.A.

  • Cuberly

Um, what exactly is “cameras blazing”?

    • Bad Tom

If saddles can blaze, why not cameras?
      ——-
      HT to Mel B.

  • JWC

If’n you don’t want to hear it stay in yor bubble

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

Never mind Hamilton. With his anti-gay record, Mike Pence stepping into ANY Broadway theater is almost a hate crime unto itself.

  • The Return of Traxley

    “This should not happen”?

Oh, but it did. And it will. Again and again and again, you rancid circus peanut.

This election was won by a hardcore group bigots and hateful voters. NOT the majority of the nation.

Your new job will not be an easy one. We’ll see to that. You’re welcome.

    • Gretchen Sharp Kidd

Rancid Circus Peanut is my new favorite name for him. Thank you for expanding my lexicon of epithets.

  • Paul_in_Dallas

“Apologize!” This from someone whose motto is “Never apologize!”

    • Brian in Valdosta

Whose sub-motto is: “When in doubt, hurl more insults!”

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

We should call him President Snowflake. It’s white and fragile so is the perfect name for him.

    • Gil

If people had expressed their 1st Amendment rights by cheering and giving a flattering speech, everything would be hunky-dory… Sorry…You can’t have it your way all the time…

    • TampaDink

If only he’d melt as quickly as a snowflake.

  • Acronym Jim

I love seeing Pence schooled by people who studied actual statesmen.

  • Oscarlating Wildely

Too bad Hair is not still running. Love to see Trump at that one.

  • GanymedeRenard

Well well, Hoosier daddy now, Pence?

  • sfjohn

FUCK.YOU. AND get used to it!!!!!

  • stuckinthewoods

Too bad it wasn’t “Our American Cousin” instead of “Hamilton.”

    • Ross

      Smack!

  • teedofftaxpayer

I guess Mr Trump does not know the meaning of “freedom of speech”. I guess he’ll try to do away with it once he becomes President.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada
    • David Walker

      Excellent stuff, Jon.

  • David Walker

One of the reasons I love theater…crave theater…is that, intellectually, it is NOT a safe space. Yes, there are pleasant nights out, particularly to a musical, which may well be what Dense and his poor, entitled snowflake daughter thought they were going to see. From what I’ve heard, “Hello, Dolly!” it ain’t.

Let’s not forget that most of our present first family attended a performance of “Hamilton” AND invited the cast to perform at the White House.

I fear for the National Endowment for the Arts, for funding for public broadcasting, for anything the mongrels see as dangerous. I probably will never get it, but my idea for my tattoo is my declaration for the arts: a staff of music (G clef, since that’s what most people understand), flanked by the gods of Comedy and Tragedy, with a quill worked into the design somehow.

  • Robert Adams

Dear mr trump and mr pence:

….and the horses you rode in on.

    How was that statement offensive?

    • Schlukitz

      Trump is a whiner.

      • TampaDink

I can only imagine how he’d behave if there was a celebrity harassing him on a regular basis over something ridiculous….like a birth certificate.

  • Larry Lautzenheiser

Apologize? Is that a word that tRump knows the meaning of?
    LEAD by example!

  • The_Wretched

It’s entirely necessary to let Trump/Pence know how disliked they are. Having a sense that the peasants might revolt is one of the few limits on them that we have.

And um donny the ill tempered brat, tweeting bs at a theatre troupe and audience is beneath the office.

    • Whicker Park

      ^^THIS!^^

  • houstonray

I’m sensing that the SNL writers are furiously rewriting a sketch or two for tonight…

  • Ginger Snap

I’ve never known a bunch of bigger of whining thin-skinned men as the entire GOP. I honestly don’t care if our country burns to the ground I don’t have the fight left in me.

  • KnownDonorDad

You’d think Pence had been strapped down and forced to undergo electroshock therapy.

  • Jeffrey

Who the fuck is he addressing in this tweet? The president elect of the United States is having a social media tantrum. Can no one save us from this giant fucking baby?

    • TampaDink

The electoral college could save us…..but it seems very unlikely that they will.

      • Jeffrey

That would be the Christmas miracle to end all Christmas miracles.

        • TampaDink

I realize that there is almost zero chance of the e.c. voters changing the outcome. They know by now that Russia was instrumental as was voter suppression and everyone knows that shit pulled by Comey cost Clinton plenty of votes. Maybe if don the con sumoned all news outlets to a special room in his tower of doom and with cameras running, trump performed a late term abortion using a crucifix and ate the remains……perhaps someone of the “wise” electoral collegiates might awitch their votes.

  • Max_1

If Pence wanted peace and happiness for his nephew and daughter for the evening… He can go rent a movie and stay at home.

If Pence wants to be a public figure and hold public Office…
… He should be prepared to dodge the tomatoes.

  • Tom

I’ll boo both him and trump (yes he does not get caps) every time I have the chance.

  • GeneInSJ

Trump is an idiot to have gotten involved at all. However, and this is my opinion only, the Hamilton cast should not have done that. It would have been better, at this early stage, if they invited him backstage after the show and voiced their concerns privately. I don’t think the public shaming will be helpful. Then again, maybe it does put them on notice. I’m really divided on this.

    • Whicker Park

What? Let them give Pence a dose of what Trump has been doing to this country for the past year! We need to stand together and show them that everyone counts, not just “white barking!”

  • bob

trump will probably get boo’d soon too !

  • Trump called for safe spaces? is that what alt-right assholes claim only liberals want? Yeah. Hypocrites every fucking one of them.

  • Gianni

That’s right Donald DumDum. Start twitter fighting with the public. It’ll make you look really presidential and powerful – not! You’ll feel that way, though, but in reality, you’ll just keep looking like the idiot you are.

  • Matthew Davie

Trump using faux-outrage on Hamilton as a way to distract media from the news of him settling his Trump University case. Old school media manipulation…Don’t like the story being told? Change the topic.

Well I have to say I get it. A black gay male American dared to exercise his first amendment right. And it was directed to a white man with power. It’s the new order, that is not acceptable. Minorities, or anyone who does not agree with the Trump regime should know there place. Resistance will not be tolerated.
