WE SEE WHITE PEOPLE: House Republicans Celebrate “Unified” Diversity In Selfie With VP-Elect Mike Pence

US House Republicans celebrated the 2016 election today with a selfie taken by Vice President-Elect Mike Pence. Prominently positioned in the front row are leading anti-LGBT House members Steve “Men Will Marry Lawnmowers” King and the perpetually cross-eyed Virginia Foxx, the latter of whom is most infamous here for calling the murder of Matthew Shepard a hoax, for which she later apologized to Shepard’s mother. You might also recall Foxx’s declaration that health care reform is “worse than terrorism.”

  • The_Wretched

It is diverse! a few have a mild tan! Some of them even have dark hair!

    • TampaDink

And look at all of those vagina having congress critters!

      • JW Swift

Vaginas which they are apparently happy to let the men folk control.

        • TampaDink

Well of course women cannot be left in charge of their own reproductive organs! /sarcasm.

  • crewman

All the women are up front in prominent view. Otherwise this is 1950s “diversity”.

    • boatboy_srq

    • TampaDink

Surprised that they didn’t make one of them take the picture….or at very least to hold the selfie stick.

    • zhera

Tokens are to be shown off.

Which means, not a single black person in that room?

      • Miji

If you enlarge the picture I see just one tiny black face at the far right margin with his left ear cut off. So, the Democratic caucus they are not.

        • JCF

Where’s the black Mormon woman from Utah? Mia Love, I think? [You’d think they’d have stuck her up-front: “two for the price of one!”]

    • olandp

At least they don’t have to worry about someone grabbing their pussies, they have all aged out of that pool.

    • Yixing’s Fluffer

      I think I see an EYE-Talian!

    • Nowhereman

      I noticed that too.

    • Rex

Well, they did just get back from getting the guys coffee.

  • SunsetGay

Never have I hated selfie-sticks more than I do now

    • Gustav2

maybe the selfie itself just died.

  • karmanot

Guess Dr. Stabby and Omarosa were down with the flu that day.

  • Nausea

Unified and ready to massively reduce your Medicare benefits! So people, instead of paying $121/mo for your Medicare medical insurance, get ready to pay $600-$800/mo. The power of unification!!

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

All this ” Best People ” talk is finally starting to sink in

    • JW Swift

Nobody bothered to ask, best for whom?

  • ByronK

All the diversity of a bag of marshmallows.

    • But without the flavor of a bag of marshmallows.

      • TampaDink

Not to mention lacking the transparency of the bag.

    • bzrd

      bag of maggots

  • Butch

And if you pointed out the problem all you’d get is a blank look.

    • boatboy_srq

Well, of course. Because all the rest aren’t really PEOPLE …

  • Todd20036

Their idea of diverse, is different from our idea of diverse.

Their idea is: white men, white women willing to defer “important” decisions to white men, gay men willing to hide everything gay about them and oppress more openly gay men (lesbians don’t exist), and the token Cuban.

    • BlindBill

Republican diversity is evangelical, baptist, methodist, reformed in america, episcopal, and even roman cathoilc (which really isn’t christian, but at least it isn’t jewish) white men and a few token white women – all kind of tolerating each other.

      • Paula

        Them Jews kilt jeebus!

      • JCF

The Rethugs in 2016 are FAR more accepting of Roman Catholics, than they are of Episcopalians.

  • Ziad Baaklini

    Mayonnaise sycophants.

  • If the House Republicans want to unify with neo-Nazis that’s fine. “Paul Ryan (Nazi – WI)” looks good to me on screen.

  • TJay229

    • JW Swift

      Downright deplorable.

  • TampaDink

    White washed. Disgusting.

    • boatboy_srq

And elected by the white unwashed.

      • TampaDink

        The disgusting white unwashed.

  • Ninja0980

Sad to say but I have the feeling that is what Democrats will take from this election.
    Let’s hope we’re proven wrong.

    • Voter suppression. Gerrymandering. A low voter turn out. Also lets not forget that the Clinton got the popular vote because of voter of color. But sure, throw us under the bus to appease a bunch of fools who constantly vote against their best interest.

      • Ninja0980

Yup, there is nothing that can be done about them.

    • Platos_Redhaired_Stepchild

There was no hope of Hillary Clinton winning from the beginning. It was rigged by the Republicans all along.

      • TimCA

I can not recommend nearly enough that people read this article.

    • JCF

F#CK Noah Rothman. I’m white, and I’m certainly not “alienated” by indicating that an ALL-WHITE (or nearly so) Congressional conference is a BAD thing!

  • madknits

    This is some white nonsense.

  • EweTaw

Look at all of the Asians, Latinos, Blacks, Middle Easterns . . . never mind.

    • TampaDink

This reminds me of those tv ads for Ancestry.com, where they are now offering DNA testing to reveal your true heritage. Turns out, nearly 1/4 of the people in that white angle shot are not 100% KKK pure murakins.

      • Ragnar Lothbrok

That is because the labs are run my libruls and libtards who want to deny white purity !!

        • TampaDink

Of course those labs are run by our fellow libtards, the beloved poorly educated are ill equipped to run anything.

      • zhera

        ‘white angle shot’

        Oh. You!

        • TampaDink

It needed to be said. ;-p

      • safari

Ancestry.com is pretty mormon. It kind of creeps me out since it is like an extension of their genealogy vault and post-death conversion projects.

        • Nowhereman

I’ve also heard of one case where they let the cops use their data base to identify someone they were looking for. And how stupid does a person have to be to send in a piece of their DNA to the mormons? These days I don’t even want to get blood drawn.

        • Jerry

I didn’t realize that ancestry.com was also Mormon. I have used the actual Mormon site, familysearch.org, which is free. Both are filled with many errors, but it can give you a place to start with genealogy.

        • TampaDink

Yup. I’m not a big fan of ancestry.com.

      • EweTaw

That’s yet another thing that really pissed off my parents and siblings. I paid the $100 to have the DNA testing. They didn’t appreciate that their hallowed church approved software company in which they have invested heavily told them we’re not as “white” as everyone insisted we were. No African ancestry, but lots and lots and lots of Meso American and “mestizo” genes mixed in the the Irish. Explained a lot about all of the alcoholics in my Mormon family. 😀

        • TampaDink

My lineage is mostly Irish…..so that predisposition for alcoholism is there and who I am to not live up to my roots? ;-p

      • Nowhereman

I’m guessing that they all have a little bit of African in them since that is where we all came from. I’ve never understood the concept of white supremacy. What’s the big deal about being born white? They could just as easily have been born a starfish.

        • Chucktech

        • TampaDink

We’d be better off if the majority of those people of perceived privilege were not born at all.

    • Nowhereman

I think that the GOPTP actually has fewer women in congress than they did back in the 70s.

  • bkmn

    Fifty Shades of White.

    • Steverino

      A whiter shade of pale.

      • Nowhereman

Made me laugh. Thanks–hard to do lately.

  • greenmanTN

How do you get it so white?

    Ancient Chinese secret!

    • Lumpy Gaga

      My President. Some hotshot!

    • Librarykid

      I remember that Calgon commercial.

      • Steverino

        Calgon, take me away!

      • agcons

It aired for a surprisingly long time, too. I can remember it on US network TV well into the 1980s.

    • Bill Post

Did they have to use the “outdoor” feature on the camera?

  • bob

    That’s unified ?

    • paganguy

      I think they meant homogenized.

      • zhera

        No homo!

  • Sam_Handwich

Inauguration day is going to be ugly in DC

I’m starting to wonder if the whole thing will be scaled down, oath taken privately in the oval office

Nope, I expect to see a Yuge production with an unprecedented military presence. Think Nuremberg 1938.

      • TampaDink

The news of these past 9 days or so have had me thinking Nuremberg 1963. Wondering why I survived birth.

      • Jerry

They’ll have to use the military…don’t see too many civic groups, or high school and college bands participating like they usually do.

      • SelectFromWhere

They’re saving that for 2020. For now, a little more subtle, like Charles & Di’s wedding.

    • Bryan

I hear it will be broken down to evening gown, swim suit, talent, and interview portions.

      • safari

        No fatties.

        • OdieDenCO

you must be a 9 or better to attend

          • Nowhereman

Well, if you’re female. Old, fat, disgustingly sexist white men will all be welcome.

          • Jerry

But dress accordingly at the hotel…don’t use any dressing rooms.

          • Paula

But, I always bring my own dressing.

          • Jerry

I hear Russian is popular this year.

    • another_steve

Interesting, Sam. Hadn’t considered that possibility, but it could happen.

If there are multiple death threats and/or terrorism threats (I hope there are not), the Secret Service might decide that it would be too risky to do the usual public inauguration thing.

    • stuckinthewoods

Is there precedent for the Oath to be a Lie? “Please place your little hand on the Bile. Now uncross your fingers.”

    • KnownDonorDad

      Or in Trump Tower.

      • Bj Lincoln

That was my first thought since he doesn’t seem to want to live in the White House.

        • Nowhereman

Yes, and he’ll charge us rent for him to live there, and of course the extra security. But we won’t save anything because the White House will have to be maintained and secured whether he’s there or not.

          • Jerry

And for the multiple flights per week back and forth DC to NY.

          • Nowhereman

Wanna bet he’ll want to lease his own company’s planes to us?

      • Nowhereman

And instead of confetti, they plan to throw a few gays off of the roof. I wish that was a joke.

    • Steverino

It’s going to make inauguration day 2001, when protesters pelted W’s limousine with eggs, and flashing placards reading “Hail to the Thief” look like tossing rose petals and applause, by comparison.

    • Cousin Bleh

      I’m going to Rehoboth.

    • BobSF_94117

I wonder what a couple million people on the National Mall shouting “NO” would sound like.

    • SelectFromWhere

Probably moved to Trump Tower because that precious fanny cannot sit on a non-Golden chair.

    • Rex

But Melania has Michelle’s speech memorized already.

    • basedonfact

Not his style. He will have pyrotechnics and a big bottle of cheap champaigne to shake all over. He’ll have at least 5 flags on his podium and a few pinned to himself as well.

    • Beagle

I vote for a historic blizzard, beginning about noon on January 18 with snow continuing for 36 hours. No planes landing after Wednesday afternoon, no real chance to plow the streets even in the city itself. Virtually empty Mall.

If you want to delay until Wednesday evening, okay. But it would be nice to have both Wednesday and Thursday off.

  • M Jackson

Unlike the unmentionables in this photo, I’m a white man who started out in East Texas, now living in one of the most ethnically diverse spots on the planet — Queens, NY. and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • Rick

Wow. It’s like the fellowship hall after Sunday service in a Presbyterian church.

  • Let’s play “Find the Women & Minorities” in this “unified” pic with Mike Pence… SPOILER ALERT: I only found 10 women and 1 african american man. Let me know what you find. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/d5470588aaa4c5f994fe55d49b9cca8f1a981cb0e7f9bf69bdc84b8040a9b7dd.jpg

Old and white with few hags

  • joe ho

Pity is that demographically a unified minority block that actually voted consistently and with discipline could have easily blown these racist white motherfuckers away.

As self-satisfied Jan Brewer often repeats here in AZ, “Don’t worry. Hispanics don’t vote.”

    No party discipline. No win.

  • Crow on a Top Hat

AHH! My eyes! At least they didn’t use a flash.

  • Max_1

Women to the front… All five women to the front.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch —

This is the first time a U.S. university has outsourced the jobs of permanent employees to India, said Gary Gwilliam, a lawyer for the plaintiffs. While outsourcing employment abroad isn’t illegal by itself, he said, UCSF’s hiring of a group of uniformly young male workers from India runs afoul of laws forbidding bias based on national origin, gender, age and race.

“They can’t substitute a diverse workforce,” Gwilliam said. He said 49 of the laid-off workers are UC employees — the others are contractors — and 48 of the 49 employees are 40 years old or older, the age protected from discriminatory hiring by federal law.

The university denied violating any laws and said it would save more than $30 million over five years with the replacement workers.

Fun fact: Janet Napoletano, former Homeland Security chief, is now president of the UC system.

Is it true that if Trump didn’t get the Hispanic and Black vote he did that he would have lost?

    • Lazycrockett

From my understanding what lost Hillary the election was uneducated white women and college educated white women. Minorities across the board voted for Hillary. Yes Trump got some Hispanic, larger than expected, and Black vote, but it was the women in the mid west that lost it for the first woman President candidate. Enjoy those back yard abortions ladies.

A long time ago, Thanksgiving Day at my cousin’s. Everyone’s in the living room. The TV is on. The news comes on. My uncle says, “You don’t see a white face.”

It’s Thanksgiving — these are, what — third string anchors, because the important white people have the day off?

My uncle was and is a brilliant man. But there’s something ingrained in too many people that giving to “them” takes from “us.”

And we’re Jewish, for Christ’s sake.

And now, on my (different) cousin’s Facebook page, she’s posting some shit from Reddit about Trump having won the popular vote, while reputable sources, that update with new info, have Clinton ahead by a million or so. So, being the data based jerk that I am, I posted links to three different sources showing Clinton ahead.

One of her friends just posted the party line: the dead, the illegal, and the felons released on North Carolina just so they could vote for Hillary. I asked for proof. She told me I can find it because it’s well-documented. I said it was her burden. She said I wouldn’t believe even if she dug it up (I thought it was “well-documented”) for me.

Not enough smart AND secure people in this country.

If I walked into a room full of nothing but white men with a few white women standing about, I think that I would feel quite uncomfortable and out of place. Then I would immediately turn around and walk back out.

So as a white male non-christian physician in Canada, I am acutely aware of my own ‘invisible’ white privilege when seeing all the brown, black, asian, Muslim, latino, female, gay, poor and other minorities, including those few hard core “christianistas” that visit my office, and this latter group that I least like to see or interact with on a human to human level, yet treat them with basic courtesy.

I have far more warmth for all the other groups, those who know what marginalization in society is all about.

Anyhow, FUCK YOU ALL VERY MUCH to the all white Republican alt-Right racist
groupies in the self adulation selfie picture. Basically you are the scum of the earth, playing with the fire of fascism — and your so-called “souls”. are millions of light years away from your Jesus idol, … that guy in your bible does not know any of you.

America is basically screwed with this election… and maybe permanently.

I don’t understand why there are not millions in the streets rather than thousands. Hillary won the election by over a million votes and it is bullshit to say that she lost based on an archaic principle which vastly overweights the votes of ignorant, angry, ill educated, misinformed rural redneck/racist/misogynist/white supremacist misfits who are ready to see civilization destroyed because they are unhappy with their backwater destinies … Technically the election of Trump may be legal but it is profoundly ILLEGITIMATE.

The electoral college headquarters wherever that is, needs to be surrounded by millions of people on December 19th DEMANDING that the Electors vote by conscience sufficiently to render null and void an election marked by vote suppression, gerrymandering, lies lies lies, media complicity, hundreds of millions of dollars by Citizens United super pacs, NRA bullshit, and by intervention by the head of the FBI.

America, unless you rise up and insist that the result is UNACCEPTABLE, then you are basically fucked for generations to come. Because the fascist white supremacists will control the state governments, the federal apparatus, and the SCOTUS which will become the SCOUSI. Supreme Court of US Injustice.

And with all the billionaire money at their disposal and the rules they will impose you’ll never get your country back again. Game of Thrones, and it will be an endless nightmare for most of America.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Some white people are just fine.

Just not these in this picture…

Men will NOT marry lawnmowers. The sex is just too darn hazardous.

The photo is too dark at the edges to be sure that that half-a-face in the back belongs to a black person.

That picture proves that the Republican Party is a Big Tent Party. I see all sorts of various shades of pink and tan in that photo.
