Gingrich: Breitbart CEO Steve Bannon Can’t Be Blamed For His Site’s Racism And Anti-Semitism [VIDEO]

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said efforts to pin anti-Semitic and sexist headlines from Breitbart news to Steve Bannon, the site’s former executive and incoming White House chief strategist, are “baloney.”

In fact, Gingrich said during a Monday morning interview on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends,” the controversy stirred up by Bannon’s appointment to such a high-level White House position should be proof to Donald Trump’s supporters that the combative former Breitbart executive is the perfect man for the job.

“Let me just start and say that everybody who is for Donald Trump and everybody who wants Donald Trump to succeed should cue off the mainstream media. If the mainstream media hates something, it’s probably a really good idea,” Gingrich said. “I mean, let’s be clear: They are the mortal opponents of what Trump is trying to achieve.”

“They now want to come back and say that anything that anybody ever published in Breitbart is Steve Bannon. That’s baloney,” the former speaker and top Trump adviser said. “That would be like accusing the publisher of The New York Times of being responsible for the dumbest thing his newspaper ever did, which would be a lot of things, by the way.”
