NORTH CAROLINA: Roy Cooper +3 In Final Poll

IMPORTANT CORRECTION: I had the numbers flipped in my first wrong, wrong, wrong draft of this post.

Raleigh’s ABC affiliate reports:

Hours before Election Day, a new Quinnipiac University poll shows races couldn’t be closer in North Carolina. Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump 47 percent to 45 percent – well within the margin of error.

In North Carolina’s Senate race, Senator Richard Burr and challenger Debora Ross are tied at 47 percent. For governor, challenger Roy Cooper leads Governor Pat McCrory 50 to 47 – also within the 3.3 % margin of error.

“After hundreds of millions of dollars and untold man-hours, and woman-hours, of campaigning, it would be fitting if the entire country broke into a chorus of “It’s beginning to look like 2000,” in the two states that matter most – Florida and North Carolina,” quipped Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Well NC, I guess that means you love being boycotted.

    Enjoy poverty

It’s a pity about Asheville, though. It’s such a nice place and the people there are by and large pretty liberal. It’s a shame they have to be the victims of guilt by association.

      • ShawnSwagger

Not just Asheville. Most of the Research Triangle is also. And Charlotte.

      • Cackalaquiano

I second that. Asheville is such a cool mountain town.

    • Headline is backwards.

    A hernia, he should get.

    • LackofFaithify

Can we add hemorrhoids to that? Want him to remember the pain his shit caused. πŸ™‚

      • another_steve

We could do that, yes. But it’s not the classic Yiddish curse.

Every person reading here, over the age of 60 and who had a Jewish mother, remembers her/his mama wishing a hernia on her enemies.

        • LackofFaithify

Yeah, but with laparoscopic surgery and the mesh covers, they are far too easily fixed. πŸ™‚

          • another_steve

This is true. I had a hernia repaired a few years back, with the fancy technology, and it went well. Though every once and a while, I feel a kvetch.

            “Ooh…what was that?”

But I go on with my business.

  • Christ. I feel really bad for my friends in NC if he wins. Is the Dems’ ground game there really this bad?

    • Treant

No. Voter suppression in NC is this bad.

  • StillALiberal

Err..The headline says McCrory +3 but in the text it say Cooper leads 50-47..That means Cooper is +3 according to my maths.

  • Jeff Matchan

That should read MINUS 3 not PLUS 3.

quote: For governor, challenger Roy Cooper leads Governor Pat McCrory 50 to 47 – also within the 3.3 % margin of error.

  • SoCalGal20

Cooper +3, not McCrory. Please let it hold!

    • another_steve

      Thank you.

I read it three times and was just about to comment.

    • Mark

but…but….the difference between the plus and the minus is the standard 6. I think Joe needs some attention…

Note the nature of the sacrifice of those virgins: nothing ordinary like having their hearts ripped still pulsing from their bodies as an offering to the Sun (Aztec). Or merely being burnt alive. No; instead, they are consigned to a special brothel catering to the sexual needs of the Old Ones. As the Old Ones are generally beyond the point of having sexual needs, the virgins don’t have a great deal to do. They usually take up a hobby like tatting or cooking French provincial, and when they really want to have fun they throw a party where they suck one another’s brains out.

    • Ninja0980

      And Burr loses his seat.

  • TampaDink

This race has been brought to you by the letters V & S. Voter Suppression.
***Edit: I posted this before I saw the correction. This makes me glad to see that voter suppression may not be enough for McAsshole to retain his post.

    • RyanInIllinois

With 3 races so tight, now it’s clear why the GOP has been working so diligently to suppress the vote in NC.

      • TampaDink

I hope that their efforts will prove to have been in vain.

    • zhera

How many people are not getting to vote because of VS? How many people tell the pollsters they won’t vote because it’s impossible for them due to VS?

I wouldn’t feel too confident about this poll. NC has shown itself to be a particularly nasty hellhole where civil rights are ripped apart.

      • TampaDink

I’d intended for my edit to come through with cautious optimism. I don’t count chickens before they hatch when it comes down to the American electorate doing the right things.

      • zhera

This is the cult that worships the image of Jesus on the cross. They wear the torture instrument around their necks. They put up paintings of this and crucifixes everywhere. The saints are worshiped according to how much they suffered.

It’s a blood cult. They worship pain and death. A fetus in a basket is nothing, really.

        • And depictions of the Crucifixion way outnumber those of the Resurrection.

That is the head of “Priests for Life,” Frank Pavone. He has made quite the fortune for himself off stunts like besieging the hospice of poor, decerebrate Terri Schiavo. He also employs Alveda King, noted disgrace to the memory of her uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

      • Alveda King, who has had how many abortions?

        • MaryOGrady

At least two which she publicizes.

    • This would be the same Donald Trump who urged his then mistress, later 2nd wife, Marla Maples to get an abortion when she became pregnant with the baby who’d later be named Tiffany.

The same man monster who only became vehemently pro-forced pregnancy AFTER he changed his party affiliation to Republican and began running for President.

The same one who doesn’t feel he’s made any mistakes or committed a single sin needing divine forgiveness, a sacrament which is considered an absolute cornerstone belief in Catholicism. And whose entire life illustrates every single thing that Jesus fellow stood against. The same one who personifies the proverbial Seven Deadly Sins. The same one who wants to know why we can’t launch wars over rude gestures, thinks the families of suspected terrorists should be murdered, and is eager to use nuclear weapons, which is sure to kill a fuckload more fetuses and live babies and children than having abortion be legal.

Seriously, these amoral, unethical, death-worshiping motherfuckers need to shut up FOREVER about having any moral authority to tell others how we all should live.

      • Cuberly

        Yep, that’s the one.

        Yes! I don’t understand how that’s legal.

So your country is large; deal with it. No exit polls and no poll counts publicized before the very last polling station has closed. It’s pretty logical but for some reason it’s not happening in the US.

        • BobSF_94117

It’s but one of the many reasons I think we should have multiple-day voting, all ending nationwide at the same time.

      • RoFaWh

In Canada, even wider than the continental US, it’s infeasible to have the polls open at the same time everywhere. Instead, there is a legally mandated news blackout until the last poll closes. Woe betide the publisher or broadcaster who violates that blackout.

I demand equal time for candidate Jalepeno !

      • EweTaw

        Who invented the chili relleno?

        • djcoastermark

I have no idea, but I am glad they did!

He looks like he got stopped on his way to the early bird special at Golden Corral.

  • Tiger Quinn

The conservatives are starting to trickle in. Their comments are great fun. πŸ™‚

Clinton Foundation paid for Chelsea’s wedding. The final scandal. Jesus fucking christ.

    • TampaDink

I’m willing to bet that the Donald J. Trump Foundation has paid for at least 2 of his & perhaps all 3 of his kids who’ve tied the knot.

      • Traxley Launderette

And who knows how many abortions for the women he’s cheated on Melanomia with.

        • TampaDink

People are saying those number in the triple digits. Believe me. What the hell is going on, folks? ;-p

    • avidreader

It’s too late to do any damage now. And I don’t see it trending on Twitter either.

      • Jeffrey

I certainly hope not. This is the first Im hearing of it, so hopefully it isn’t a big deal.

    • Treant

Citation required, of course. I’m sure that wasn’t forthcoming in the “scandal news.”

      • Lazycrockett

Ms KellyAnne was crowing bout it last night as well as a maid doing something or other. I was to busy picking up my eyes that were rolling across the floor to pay attention.

      • Jeffrey

It is coming from one an email from one of the former aides, so may be nothing at all. According to my news alert a million people are talking about it on FB. Big stories always pop up there.

    • Silver Badger

      Your proof is….what?

      • Jeffrey

I don’t have proof, Im just telling you what’s on the news. Hopefully it isn’t a big deal. Just sharing what people are saying, Im not the Attorney General.

        • Silver Badger

          Oh. How…….nice. Bless your heart!

          • Silver Badger

            Are they the best people?

          • Jeffrey

Im a Hillary supporter and Im just telling you what the news is saying. Anyone with a tv or computer could see it.

          • Silver Badger

Any misunderstanding is entirely my fault.

          • kareemachan

            And how… special.

    • Ninja0980

Did you see where the donation that Trump made to military veterans went to a slush fund too?

      • Jeffrey

You don’t have to sell me on Trump being a scumbag. Im just reporting what is popping up in the news

        • TrollopeReader

ninja is, shall we say, “delicate” and “always right” … never met a D he couldn’t vote for — even the D’s who ruined the D party in the NY State House … any D is a good D for Ninja.

    • AJ Drew

Sheesh, why are folks here shooting the messenger? Jeffrey’s correct, this story is making the rounds on Fox and NYPost, and especially getting coverage with the further fringe right-wing sites. It’s worth keeping an eye on.

      http://nypost.com/2016/11/06/chelsea-clinton-used-foundation-to-help-pay-for-wedding-emails/

      • Jeffrey

To be honest I think its too late for it to make much difference. I didnt write the story I just brought it to people’s attention. From what I can tell it is only getting traction with the nut jobs, so she may have lost the Breitbart vote.

        • kareemachan

Damn, and she was counting on that SO much!

    • zhera

I find that hard to believe. As much as the Clintons and their foundation have been investigated this would have come out at a much earlier time.

      It’s another ‘E-mails at Weiner’s computer’.

      • Jeffrey

I don’t think the story has much to it. The more I read about it seems like only the fringe sites are carrying it. Probably not people who were going to vote for her any way.

        • zhera

They also say she killed some guy, and eats babies for breakfast. They’ll say anything.

          • RoFaWh

I wish somebody would eat me for breakfast. Or brunch. Or as a midnight snack. Any old time, it’s all good.

Things must be going well — the butthurt Trumpanzees are already showing up …

  • JoeMyGod

The Philadelphia video has gone live and I’ve bumped that post back to the top.

  • EweTaw

Baking cookies and sort of watching Advise and Consent. Best line so far:
Bad congressman: “What I did I did for the good of the country.”
Good congressman: “Fortunately our country always seems to survive patriots like you.”

    • TrollopeReader

you do have my address for the cookies, right?

      • EweTaw

I’ll box you a dozen. I’m still making them, burning through 5 lb bags of flour and sugar and several extracts: vanilla, mint, almond, cherry . . . . It’s amazing what you can do with a simple sugar cookie recipe.

        • TrollopeReader

          YAY !!!

  • Richard B

It is great to hear Pat McCrory looks like he will be voted out of office. I would love to learn how polling looks for the NC Assembly. They were the ones that wrote and pushed throw through the vile HB2 law.

  • WillMoor

Truly hope McCrory is sent packing.

  • Jack M.

Worth noting that the Human Rights Campaign dedicated substantial resources to North Carolina, both money and volunteers, in the effort to defeat McCrory. As usual, the so-called “National LGBTQ Task Force” did nothing. But if McCrory is ousted tomorrow, I guaranty you that the “Task Force” will issue a press release implying that its heroic efforts were responsible for the win.

  • Blake Jordan

The more states Sec. Clinton wins the better, but she does not need Florida or North Carolina to win.

The main requirement of this state is that they get rid of McCrory!!!!!

  • Rick James Brown

After Pres. and The Senate, I care about THIS race more than ANYTHING else on the ballot, anywhere, including everything in my home state of Cal.. I DESPISE McCrory. Go Roy go. Get rid of HB2 !!

  • Kevin Perez

Thanks for correcting this. This makes the day that much more hopeful.
