Franklin Graham: America Needs A Christian Revolution

“We need a Christian revolution in America. Let’s support men and women at every level of government-local, state, and national-who will lead this country back to really being one nation under God, so that we can truthfully say, once again, ‘In God we trust.’

“No matter who wins, our ongoing job as Christians is to make the impact of Christ felt in every area of life – social, religious, political, and economic. We must not attempt to do this in our own strength or wisdom. We can only do it as we surrender ourselves completely to God, allowing Him to work in and through us. Be sure you do vote, and then stay active in your community. Be an advocate for God’s truth and for His righteousness.

“The nation is spiraling out of control-morally, spiritually, and politically. America needs the Christian voice to be heard. I am not telling anyone who to vote for. God can do that. God’s people have a responsibility to pray for the nation and to vote.” – Franklin Graham, writing for the Christian Post.

I just find it funny that Donald Trump, the embodiment of greed and gluttony, is their savior. It’s ridiculous.

It proves what frauds they all are. They have no morals, just a desire to be in power.

morals don’t matter to them; power does.

LOL The interiors of his homes (which he proudly displays) are basically shrink wrapped furnishings spray painted with gold. Tasteless, gauche, and just shows how classless he is. Then he opens his mouth.

I suspect Melania is reviewing her pre-nup.

I once was at a party that was held at the house of an ophthalmologist and his wife. The house was large but the décor was incredibly tacky. The wallpaper was gold and red velvet. The worst thing was an oil portrait of the family. The woman was his second wife. In the corner of the picture was his first wife in cloud looking down at the new wife. I told a friend how awful the house looked. He got angry and told me that they had spent a million dollars, don’t you?”

      • thatotherjean

Absolutely not! That grinning Trump-faced cow bears the symbols of the Egyptian goddess Hathor, who was worshiped as a bringer of joy, love, beauty, and motherhood. She was light-years from what Trump stands for, and she is dishonored by the comparison.

        • Well, the cow was Hathor’s avatar(for want of a better word) and she was usually depicted as a woman with cow’s ears. But otherwise you’re spot on.

        • lymis

So what? You honestly don’t think that if Trump actually did choose to cast a golden idol, it wouldn’t be a rip-off of anything he could steal from other popular or positive gods?

      • apimomfan3

They’re not voting so much for Trump as they are for Pence. Pence is their guy.

        • Rt1583

They were lining up behind Trump well before Pence came on board though.

    • TSS

Not so ridiculous – Graham is worth $25 million and counting. They’re birds of a feather!

      • BobSF_94117

Graham is worse, in my mind. Trump makes his money off gamblers and real estate (and not paying taxes). Graham grifts from the poor.

      • Curieux Bleu

Well certainly they are feathering someone’s nest. Usually that would be Numero Uno, but hey! The widow’s mite is Holy so do not sneer, … it is holy Holy and wholly mine, sayeth Grifter Graham.

but yeah, these ‘Christianista sickos’ are pretty disgusting

, … and who in their right mind would want to emulate all that bullshit fear envy and loathing, racked by guilt as they totally are … ee-ew … pass the stench remover and the brain bleach for doG sake!

        • lymis

How can a poor widow score points with God by giving what she can’t spare out of her poverty if rich people help take care of her? Why, they’d be hindering her salvation!

If it’s nearly impossible for a rich man to get into heaven, why, it’s actually a public service for pastors to take their money and remove their temptation, right? Only the morally strongest dare be rich, and that’s pastors, right?

    • David Walker

Did they at least vote for President Carter’s re-election? Of course not. Who wants some actual Christian who confessed to having lusted in his heart when you can have a divorced B-movie actor. Gee. What would Jerry Foulmouth have to say?

    • fuzzybits

It’s from those days when he was custodian at Ivanka’s high school.

    • 2patricius2

Franklin already has his Christian revolution. He and his kind have made Christians revolting in the minds of a lot of us ordinary people, and indeed in the minds of a lot of Christians whose modus operandi is “Do unto others as you would have them do to you.”

    • margaretpoa

Sooo fucking absurd. It’s abominable that little aspect is entirely ignored by the “liberal media”.

    • Rt1583

Greed and gluttony has been the driving force of religion for millennia. They’ve simply gotten better at hiding it or disguising it as something else.

Look at the smorgasbord of “offerings” required in the OT. They want us to believe that, in a time when ownership of livestock equated to wealth, all these offerings were simply killed and burned? I’ll believe that as soon as the Vatican divests itself of all their worldly treasures.

  • bob

We do not need a christian revolution. So called “christians” need to realize that this country is based on freedom from persecution from any one religion .

  • D. J.

Sure does. Everybody needs to leave “their” churches forever and we need to tax the shit out of the churches and all their real property.

  • M Jackson

“Don’t feel like you are speaking for yourself. Pretend that it is god speaking through you.
That way you can get away with saying all kinds of stupid shit. That’s what we christianists do.”

  • So, Franklin Graham will be announcing his 2020 run for the presidency on Wednesday.

    • M Jackson

That’s when “Campaign 2020” officially begins.

    • bkmn

He had better watch out for Ted Cruz. I heard Ted is sharpening his shiv to take care of the competition early this time.

      • pj

yeah ted will announce on wed. i think it makes a lot of sense to have perpetual debates and political crap every day all day.

      • We’d all better watch out for Cruz. He’s slimy enough to end up getting elected in 2020 if Clinton can’t get enough done to completely dishearten the Republican voters to the point they just give up and stay home. And that means the Democratic Party has GOT to do a massive get out the vote effort for 2018 mid-term election.

        • bkmn

This is not the time for the Democratic party to take a tack to the center, they need to listen to the progressive wing of the party and make life better for the working class and make sure the top 0.01% pay something in for all they have gotten out of the system.

When I was growing up, religion or faith was regarded as something that was personal and private and never to be worn on one’s sleeve. That’s what we need to return to.

  • So how are you going to make Christ felt economically? Do we go back to the day when White Christians took resources from locals in exchange for Bibles? Do we go back to the days of churches collecting taxes from peasants to build cathedral instead of contributing to infrastructure? Or do we go back to the where Jesus said give Caesar’s what is due to him?

  • Librarykid

You start your goddam Christian Revolution in your own fucking churches and clean up your own bigotry, greed, immorality, manipulating the gullible and spreading of hate in the name of the Source of love and when you have that shit cleaned up, you can take the money that people give you and start to help others rather than using it to raise more money. THEN you can address the nation with a less exclusionary speech, you bigoted, stinking, greedy, totally untalented POS.

I will never stop finding religious people like him dangerous.

I remember listening on NPR to a Mormon or maybe an ex-Mormon complain that it was hard to get people to give a shit about the environment because they thought Jeebus would rush in at the last minute to keep things from going too bad. It’s really face palming how aggravating it is how often magical thinking of all kinds (not just religious, but woo, MLM, economic theory, anti-vaxxers, etc.) gets everybody in trouble because like a god damn oil spill, it doesn’t restrict its damage to the believers.

    • Kissmagrits

Reminds me of Reagan’s Secretary of the Interior, James Watt. He thought it would be OK if we drilled for oil off coastal Santa Barbara because we were already in the “end times”.

      • Steverino

Funny how people who think we are in “the end times” always plan for the future.

    • lymis

This from people who believe in a God that drowned the entire planet because he pissed them off. God said he wouldn’t flood the world again. He never said he’d step in and prevent us from doing it to ourselves.

  • TampaDink

You’re well on your way, Frankie. You & people like you have made me realize how revolting christianists can be.

  • Richard B

Franklin Graham, I have news for you. The world has grown and matured to be less superstitious. Your evangelical movement has run their course, peaked, and for the most part, the torch bearers were so flawed, with their anti science reasoning, misogynistic last century views of women, their negative message around matters of sex and sexuality, so off putting, your old movement is flaming out and in a generation, heading to the ash heap of history.
When Hillary become our next POTUS, let reason, science, and logic rule the next era.

    • grindstone

Thank you, that was well put. The fact is, if the message were good, and true, and believable, and the messengers not such godawful grifters, the pews would be full. But even if you honestly believe the message of loving thy neighbor, caring for the sick, the poor, and the lonely, that message has been trampled by the messengers. Each one proving, over and over by their own actions, that they are in it for the money and power. If the message was real and true to them, the homeless in their towns would have homes, the hungry would have food. But instead we get private jets and book promotions (only $29.95!!).

  • Interesting word choice. Traditionally Evangelicals said we needed a revival, but Graham knows that’s not coming so he’s happy to take American back at gunpoint. How telling.

If this isn’t a sign of bad things to come, then what is? The first British slave ship to reach the Americas was called Jesus of Lubeck. Between 1562 and 1567, Britain’s very first slave trader, John Hawkins, profited so greatly from the slave trade, that it caught the Queen’s attention. She donated the Jesus of Lubeck and another ship called … wait for it … The Minion, as an investment into Hawkins’ enterprise.

Hawkins’ lucrative business in profiting from human atrocities was abruptly ended in 1567 when his fleet was confronted by Spanish conquistadors in the Gulf of Mexico. Hawkins suffered a heavy loss of 325 men. His casualties are dwarfed by the number of African lives lost within the five years of Hawkins’ fiendish operation and the lives destroyed through brutal oppression of surviving enslaved Africans and the many generations to follow.

    • Bad Tom

The brutal truth needs to be told.

    • Chuck in NYC

He’s a jackass who’s stolen his father’s legacy, not to mention the entire Graham financial machine. Dad (still, shockingly, alive) has never been anything approaching a liberal, but his rhetoric was never as awful as the tone Franklin has adopted. For that reason, Franklin will never be as beloved by masses of Americans as his dad. (And, if the Internet is to be believed, Franklin is not even completely beloved by his brother and sisters.)

  • teedofftaxpayer

If he wants a theocracy, then he can move to Iran.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

Sorry Franklin, but you Christians have absolutely zero moral ground to stand on, not that you did before Trump; no, the fact of the matter is, Trump’s candidacy did have one positive effect, it revealed the truth about you and your kind. Right wing, family values, socially conservative, preachy hypocrites fully revealed their true nature with their slobbering fawning and over the top glorification of Trump as savior, all while ignoring his many, many sins; sins you insisted were deal breakers. So no Franklin, you don’t get to make demands or pleas. No, what you get to do is fuck off back under some rock and pray to your invisible friend that you can ever show your face again in civilized/polite society…..though I dare say I don’t think that will happen any time soon. Just go away.

People stepping on landmines that we’ve left? Species going extinct? Climate change? Human potential squandered due to unaffordable education?

None of that means much of anything to me.

I’m pruriently concerned with whether Johnny is playing with himself, whether women are keeping chaste and male-obedient as gawd intended, and whether we can elevate the lives of fetuses above those of adult women.

Under what conditions are your genitals close to another set of genitals? Jesus wants to know. Did you have a Biblically unauthorized release of semen? Jesus wants to know. Did you have lust in your heart? Jesus wants to know all about it, and so do I.”

  • Mike Knife

The anti-gay Christians have already started their war on LGBT people only it has been a psychological war to destroy LGBT people and it has been going on for a long time now.

    • David Walker

Speaking for myself, it’s made me stronger. It opened a vein of anger I didn’t know I had. Looking around me, I think their war has had a good effect on others, too. We may not have full equality in all 50 states, but we can marry the person we love. I may or may not live to see full civil rights nationwide, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to fight for them.

      • EweTaw

Hang in there David. There’s a rumor that it gets better.

      • Mike Knife

So you are aware of the psychological warfare that the anti-gay Christian have been using for years now? Do you know how to fight a psychological war? The United States government teaches psychological warfare to the military and CIA, FBI, etc. etc… and they are suppose to use it against enemies and terrorist of America . So why are they using it against LGBT Americans?

        • David Walker

Do I know how to fight a psychological war? No, aside from not playing along with them and taking what I feel are the right opportunities to tell them to fuck off. My big turn around moment came when the Westboro Baptist morons picketed the church where I was choir director because we were fag enablers. I was afraid to walk out of the church to look at them, but I did. For whatever reason, looking at that pathetic group of angry, disgusting people made me feel that I didn’t really have anything to worry about. I don’t think WBC scares anyone anymore…they just make people angry. As more people get to know us and understand that we don’t have the same rights they have, the more people understand what The Truly Religious are doing. When we no longer are the effective tool to line their pockets, they will move on to harass another sector.

          • Silver Badger

I think you got the hang of it. The important thing is never give up!

          • Mike Knife

One way to fight the anti-gay Christian psychological warfare is to do better than them, help as many people as you can, that drives them even more crazy when you do better than then and help others to do better as well.
Another way is to expose the crimes of these anti-gay Christians, they always have crimes they are hiding and I mean big crimes like killing LGBT people not just little ones. Investigate these anti-gay Christians and any crimes you find expose them to the world for the world to see how sick and evil the anti-gay Christians are. One of the evil criminals groups they work with is the anti-gay psychiatrist who do things like Ex Gay Therapy that is torture and killing LGBT people. You can link the anti-gay psychiatrist to the anti-gay Christians. Keep up the good work David and tell others what they can do to help stop the evil anti-gay Christians and psychiatrist who are killing LGBT people.

Put yourself in Satan’s shoes for a minute …

If you were Satan, and it was your job to undermine Christianity in Jesus’ favorite country, how would you do it?

Would you do it by making some people dress up like vampires, playing with Ouija boards, putting up goat statues next to the Ten Commandments display at the local courthouse, and marrying people they actually fall in love with?

Or would you do it by making Tony Perkins, Peter LaBarbera, Franklin Graham, and a thousand others who claim to speak for Jesus, who claim to be the bouncers in the exclusive “Christianity Club”, look like complete assholes in public?

I submit that Franklin Graham et.al. are the real “tools of Satan” they claim to see everywhere else in modern society.

    • Talisman

Now, as everyone knows, the winner gets to write the history books. So the evil Yaweh fucker recruits people to enforce crazy laws about not having fun and being a bitch to everyone else. And this army of evil fuckers gets to write the narrative that Satan was the baddy in all this.

I voted for Hillary. God moves in mysterious ways. Franklin Graham and the like are not God’s mouthpiece anymore than I am. The reflection of God isn’t in empty words, it’s how we treat each other.

    • Talisman

It’s not anecdotal. Democrats/Progressives are more likely to volunteer, to give to charity, and to go to church.

Clinton, a Methodist who regularly goes to church, and who founded one of the most respected charitable organizations in the world. Trump, who thinks he’s Episcopalian, who probably hasn’t stepped foot in a church in his life, and who founded a charitable organization that is used to pay off his lawsuits and buy self-portraits.

Franklin Graham pays no attention to his god. He and his cronies have been praying against gay marriage and their god has answered those prayers with a resounding No. Yet Franklin refused to accept his god’s answer. He continues to lead his people down a primrose path to hatred, again denying his god’s order to love. He defies his god at every turn and still thinks he can bend his god to his will. How very sad for him.

    https://www.amazon.com/Family-Secret-Fundamentalism-Heart-American/dp/0060560053

From Amazon.com: “‘They insist they are just a group of friends, yet they funnel millions of dollars through tax-free corporations. They claim to disdain politics, but congressmen of both parties describe them as the most influential religious organization in Washington DC. They say they are not Christians, but simply believers.

“Behind the scenes at every National Prayer Breakfast since 1953 has been The Family, an elite network dedicated to a religion of power for the powerful. Their goal is “Jesus plus nothing.” Their method is backroom diplomacy. The Family is the startling story of how their faith—part free-market fundamentalism, part imperial ambition—has come to be interwoven with the affairs of nations around the world.'”

Franklin is hoping to position himself in the back pocket of the seats of power (picture that metaphor) just as his daddy did back in the ’60s-’80s.

I wander over to his Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/FranklinGraham/ on occasion just to stir the muck. His sycophants are elderly white ladies who chime in with “Amens” and “We’ll pray for The Donald.”

How the IRS has ignored this political operative so long I don’t know.

  • Mark Guilford
  • coram nobis

His father hailed Richard Nixon, and that didn’t work out so well. Frankie should not have embraced the pumpkin.

I am fully convinced that this extraordinary and incidental cause is the close connection of politics and religion. The unbelievers of Europe attack the Christians as their political opponents rather than as their religious adversaries; they hate the Christian religion as the opinion of a party much more than as an error of belief; and they reject the clergy less because they are the representatives of the Deity than because they are the allies of government.

In Europe, Christianity has been intimately united to the powers of the earth. Those powers are now in decay, and it is, as it were, buried under their ruins. The living body of religion has been bound down to the dead corpse of superannuated polity; cut but the bonds that restrain it, and it will rise once more.

We tried that already, Franklin. Plymouth Colony, 1630 – 1640. The theocracy collapsed within 3 generations, where the children of the first settlers were not so keen on spending their one day of rest from back-breaking farm work — an entire Sunday — sitting in hard-backed pews, being preached at about fire, brimstone, and their moral superiority to the the immoral Quakers and the devil-worshipping Indians.

The Bible-centric Puritans placed a high value on literacy, and as everyone now read their Bible, different groups interpreted passage in their own way and broke off. Literacy killed theocracy. It’s too late Franklin. America will always be a nation of literate free-thinkers and radicals.

Just spend a few sickening minutes at Charisma News. And you’ll read over and over again how “God uses imperfect people to achieve his holy purposes
