Trump Stiffs Own Internal Pollster For $767,000

The Washington Post reports:

Donald Trump’s hiring of pollster Tony Fabrizio in May was viewed as a sign that the real estate mogul was finally bringing seasoned operatives into his insurgent operation. But the Republican presidential nominee appears to have taken issue with some of the services provided by the veteran GOP strategist, who has advised candidates from 1996 GOP nominee Bob Dole to Florida Gov. Rick Scott. The Trump campaign’s latest Federal Election Commission report shows that it is disputing nearly $767,000 that Fabrizio’s firm says it is still owed for polling.

Trump campaign officials declined to provide details about the reason the campaign has declined to pay the sum to Fabrizio Lee, the pollster’s Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based firm. “This is an administrative issue that we’re resolving internally,” said senior communications adviser Jason Miller. Fabrizio did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Fabrizio was an ally of former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who persuaded a skeptical Trump in the spring that he needed a professional pollster.

      • Paula

I read that as icepick, at first. An icepick would make it smart less, also.

  • ColdCountry

Ah, sticking it to the other guy and getting away with it. That’s what his base loves about him.

    • dcurlee

Yea but what’s scary if he were to win he will be sticking it to all of us

      • ColdCountry

And for some reason, they just don’t see that! It baffles me.

        • B Snow

They’d be ENRAGED (and rightly so) if they didn’t get paid for work they’d done. And yet it’s okay when Trump doesn’t pay for work done, because ????? Also baffled, here.

      • Nax

And they still wouldn’t see it. It would be someone else’s fault.

Why does anyone ever work for this piece of shit without payment in advance?

    • Reality.Bites

The same reason people get with people who’ve cheated on every previous partner. “I’m different. He loves ME.”

      • JT

Love is not exactly an analogy that fits with the Drumpf.

        • KQCA

You’re thinking rationally. (I always like your comments.)

You haven’t met my relatives who only speak of the candidates in terms of “love Trump” and “hate Hilary.” They cannot give a single fact to support their stance on either candidate, other than “that’s what I heard” or “that’s what I was told”…from FOX, Limbaugh, 700 Club, or their favorite preacher.
I…uh…don’t plan to visit them anytime soon.

    • Nax

Because people always want to be associated with people who are perceived to be rich. I have found the wealthier a person is, the more stuff they are given free anyway.

There are a lot of small businesses in Iowa that are still owed a lot of money from Republican Presidential candidates running in 2004 to 2012.

this is news to me. ..

Evan McMullin tells KUER’s @radiowest that his mother is in a same-sex marriage. She married a woman after McMullin grew up and left home..
McMullin says he has a personal/religious belief “traditional marriage,” but believes it’s settled as a political and legal issue.

    • Yea, I had heard that recently.

    • Blake Jordan

That could ruin his chances of stealing Utah from drumpf…

      • Reality.Bites

Why? They’re already overlooking that he isn’t married at 40. Like exactly no Mormon straight men.

        • Blake Jordan

My McMuffin knowledge is severely lacking, so I did not know he was unmarried…

          Closer case???

      • thom

nah, I don’t think so. lots of Mormons are thawing on gay rights. as long as he keeps up the personal/political line he’ll be fine

      • lymis

I thought you couldn’t be Mormon if your parents were gay, unless you formally renounce them and agree never to see them again. Has he done that?

    • Gustav2

So when McMullin gets married in the Temple, his mother will not be able to attend.

      Nice.

      • Chucktech

No, McMullin won’t be getting married in the Temple because they’re fussy about no gay marriages being performed there.

  • dcurlee

Well it’s obvious he didn’t like the polls and if he doesn’t like the job you did he doesn’t pay

    • MichaelJ

Every time I read about Trump rejecting advice, I hear the wicked witch Evilline’s song from The Wiz, “Don’t Nobody Bring Me No Bad News.”

What, Trump stiff a contractor? Go figure. Cause that’s what happens when you do business with Trump.

  • jsmukg

He embodies the criminal fantasies of the entire Rethug base: pay zero taxes, cheat the system for all it’s worth, do shoddy and miserable ‘work,’ and steal from every business which provides you services. Oh, and have taste-free gold-plated penthouses.

      • (shrugs) Nah, this is just what many of us have been saying all along, and what has been Trump’s basic business practice going back decades: He doesn’t pay his bills. He just doesn’t. And he thinks that robbing people of work and goods for either nothing or a fraction of what they’re worth is him being ‘smart’ — because he has no fucking clue what it means to be ethical.

“Trump campaign officials declined to provide details about the reason the campaign has declined to pay the sum to Fabrizio Lee”

    Reason: Trump.
    This is what he does.

    • Accounts Payable: “So do we pay this pollster? We’re into Fabrizio for more than three quarters of a mil at last count.”

Trump: “Will we ever need him again? I mean, I am planning to cancel all elections after this one. It’s not like I haven’t hinted I was going to do exactly that, many times. Just last week, I said we should cancel this one and give me the presidency, and the media didn’t even blink.”

AP: “I suppose not. No more elections means you’ll never need to have another poll again. You can do like you normally do and just claim 97% of everyone loves you.”

Trump: “Fine. Stiff ’em then. I didn’t like his numbers anyway. They were bad numbers, the worst.”

Donald Trump would make a better POTUS than Kanye West, are you kidding me? If I were a gambler I would bet that West would be a 100 times better as the POTUS than that lying, groping, draft dodging, tax evading, non-debt paying, misogynistic, red neck, con-man, crooked, trickster, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, hypocrite.

Trumpkins who excuse his behaviour are the people who believe all those women who stated he made sexual assaults against them are being paid by Hillary Clinton to lie. They also believe that those 3,000 lawsuits against him some of them pending for years due to his delaying tricks are also being manipulated by Hillary. The worst Trumpkins are those that excuse his horrendous behavior by claiming he’s a great businessman.

The truth about most Trumpkins is they worship Donald because they believe he can get them what they cannot get for themselves. As a result they are willing to ignore his disgusting conduct not for the good of the country but for their own selfish interests. So utterly pathetic!

IGNORE THE FUCKING POLLS AND POLLING MODELS.

All that matters are the Electoral forecasts. These have been holding steady for weeks. Hillary even picked UP three EV overnight!

      270 are needed to win:

I always look at electoral votes as well and it looks like she’s losing Florida.

        • Ross

Hillary could lose all ten swing states (including Florida) and she would still win.

          • bobbleobble

I think you’re probably right that she’s still favored to win BUT the race is tighter and there hasn’t been a lot of good polling out of states like MI, WI and CO recently. If her support is flakey which it appears to be, that is where it will begin to flake first. Plus once the Remington polls are added into Electoral Vote tomorrow it’s quite possible her prediction will tumble while Trump’s will go up. She even had a poll out today putting her down in NH. And I genuinely don’t think that the FBI stuff has sunk in properly yet.

Who knows, maybe the idea of Trump presidency will see things swing back to her over the next few days. Latino turn out is way up but black turnout (perhaps predictably) is way down. It seems black people don’t fear Trump in the way Latinos do.

I think this election is much closer than some of the predictions have it and I think very soon it’ll be 50/50 whether there’s a president Trump or not.

          • Ross

Hillary is forecast with 138 Electoral votes MORE than Donnie. That is HUGE, and there is NO WAY Donnie can close such a gap.

If Hillary and Donnie were, say, 20 EV apart, it would be a close race, and I, too, would be freaking out.

The media is PUSHING this as a horse race. It ain’t.

            From NYT:

Mrs. Clinton’s average margin over Mr. Trump of five points has been enough to make her the first candidate to maintain a durable lead in an open presidential race since Dwight D. Eisenhower defeated Adlai Stevenson in 1952.

          • bobbleobble

I would say that 138 is more fragile than it appears. Florida will likely switch tomorrow given that Remington Poll putting her down 4. Ohio will be back in his column too given his +5 from the same company. If Florida switches to him that moves the 138 margin down by 58 (29 taken from her column and added to his) and Ohio would add 18 (given it’s in a tie at the moment) leaving their margin at only 62. If there’s more bad polling news out of Nevada, North Carolina and New Hampshire then that’s a further reduction in the margin of 50 (25 off her column and added to his) leaving the gap at only 12. And I’m still worried about MI, WI and CO.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but I just don’t think her lead is as robust as you are suggesting.

          • Ross

I am actually anticipating that her Electoral numbers will RISE by election day, not fall.

Hillary has 272 EV locked in. Thus, she wins, and without winning a single swing state. And of course she will win some.

I predict that Hillary will get at least 322 (Obama got 322 in 2012), and will likely get much higher.

We can settle this next week!

  • rednekokie

This “old white people” is voting for Hillary!

      • TexasBoy

Yes, but unfortunately, there are a lot of us oldsters that are not.

      • JCF

My father is among the oldest white people who have already voted for Hillary (96).

  • Henry Auvil

This is how he figures his big, beautiful 2,000 mile wall across the Mexican border will only cost $12 billion. He plans to stiff the contractors.

  • karmanot

    Deadbeat Dump

  • Will Parkinson

I’m sorry, I have a hard time believing this. After all, Trump said he never engaged in a ‘sword fight’, so obviously he never stiffed this man.

    🙂

  • Jack_Carter_USA

After many many documented instances of the short-fingered vulgarian stiffing people because he’s so cheap he doesn’t even pay attention, anyone who does any work him for without demanding cash up front deserves to get ripped off.

  • StraightGrandmother

However if you go read the article he paid KellyAnn Conways (his campaign manager) company $676,000 for polling.

I swear to God, he BETTER NOT get elected as my President. What a deadbeat.

    • Ross

Rest assured, Donnie will NOT be your president. Or mine.

He has nowhere near enough forecasted Electoral votes to win. And Hillary has way more than she needs.

      • Gil

And mostly they are finding porn on Weiner’s computer….Lots of it.. French maid and S+M stuff..The usual…What I hear on the street here in DC…

  • SoCalGal20

Can somebody tell me why Trump has never been charged with fraud/contempt of court/obstruction of justice/RICO? Seriously. He refuses to pay people who do work for him. According to the Newsweek article that came out today he disobeys court orders and destroys documents. How is he allowed to continuously do things like this?

    • Rich white plutocratic privilege.

      • boatboy_srq

Mustn’t forget the male and hetero aspects of this.

    • rextrek1

because he (has money) and knows that small businesses do NOT have the time, nor money to Fight LONG Drawn Out court cases………

  • Canadian Observer

Donald should get involved in the movie business… they too are notorious for not paying their bills.

  • JustSayin’

Sue him Fabrizio sue him 😂 put his internal poll results in the public domain

  • boatboy_srq

The interesting part of this is that tRump’s aversion to paying for anything actually makes him the perfect GOTea candidate. This is the party, after all, that put a massive tax cut, two wars, a Medicare prescription benefit and a massive bank bailout all on the US national credit card, using the mantra “deficits don’t matter.” tRump is merely the private sector expression of this attitude.

    • Traxley Launderette

Deficits don’t matter unless you’re the black guy in the White House. Even if the deficit was brought down to $1.09 the GOP would be screaming.

  • Robert Conner

Anyone still dumb enough to work for Donald Trump richly deserves whatever happens to them.

    • JellyDonut

no, we all pay for their dumb vote.

  • thatotherjean

Sorry, Tony, no sympathy here. You knew it was a snake when you picked it up.

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

He should have stepped on that hissing orange snake instead.

  • KQCA

Yet throngs of barefoot, hungry, unemployed people who can’t afford a trip to the dentist believe Trump will help them after they elect him.

He has only a track record of screwing people. Where is one who will step out and say, “Donald Trump helped me?”

Yet the mindless sheep from several different interest groups believe he “has a plan” and will follow through on his one-sentence single-occasion promises to their specific cause or agenda. What buffoons.

  • rextrek1

    VOTE BLUE …VOTE BLUE!!!!!!!

  • sword

Trump: “If I spend $767K for polling, I expect Huuuuge results. I am not paying you until I get at least 99% of the vote! I contracted with carpenters for dice tables for my casinos…and got felt on wood rather than sold gold. I didn’t like them…so I stiffed the workers. If I don’t have to pay them…why should I have to pay you!”

    • RoFaWh

We thus get another glimpse of what goes on in Drumpf’s mind. He thinks the entire universe external to himself is there for only one reason: to stroke his ego.

Any reports of so-called facts contrary to the triumph of Drumpf over decency, common sense, intelligence, compassion, and other virtues; those reports are clearly false just because.

  • avidreader

OT but I used to love BBC for their integrity. I’ve no idea what happened to them this election cycle. Just look at the main page now. It’s like Trump’s wet dream of what a news company’s website should look like.

    http://www.bbc.com/news

    • Dazzer

The only television news source I trust these days in the UK is Channel 4 News.

It’s balanced and fearless in how it covers national and international news.

  • Blackfork

ONLY IDIOTS fail at this point to ask for a deposit or payment in full up front when dealing with Trump. I don’t feel sorry for these people.

  • kirtanloorii

Trump doesn’t pay his bills, people. Shocker.

  • William

Fabrizio? Didn’t he get squished when one of the Titanic’s funnels fell on him?

  • Guido Miller

At least we know Trump is into recycling. He recycles the same dirty tricks on his vendors and on innocent women. Time and again, you realize what a horrific sleaze bag Trump is.

  • RNegron

I bet her Drumph just did not like the product. Too accurate would be my guess!

  • Jack

And people like him BECAUSE he does this.

  • Marides48

    I think we’ve seen this movie several times before. I think it’s titled “tRump Stiffs a Contractor – Again & Again & Again & Again & Again & Again & Again…….”

    • Hank

As the saying goes, “The screwing I’m getting, is NOT worth the SCREWING I’m getting!!!

    • William

Any good call girl knows to get cash up front.

    • Lumpy Gaga

A bigger franchise than “Police Academy” and Jason combined.

      • CharlestonDave

Do the Roman numerals go that high?

  • Paula

No surprise. Trump is innately cruel, vindictive and petty. He will stop at nothing to get his own way.

  • LackofFaithify

Wow. They paid a lot to get used by Trump.

  • Chris Lion

I bet if his polls were better, he’d pay for them. They should just bullshit him. Make it look like a Trump landslide, then get that check and RUN…!

    • Ross

…then get that check, CASH IT, and RUN…!

    • 2guysnamedjoe

Atlantic City contractors caught on to him. He would pay them half of what they were due, and the time them up in court for years if they dared to sue. So they started doubling their bid amounts. True to form, Drumpf says at the end of the jon, here’s half, take it or leave it. The contractors got the price they wanted in the first place, while Mister Brilliant Businessman goes home thinking he just pulled another fast one.
Wish I could find the article.

  • Lumpy Gaga

Trump never pays for poll action.

    • TrollopeReader

trump never pays for action …

  • Ninja0980

No pity for him at all.

  • Michael Hampton

I don’t feel bad for them. You get what you don’t get paid for, I guess.

  • agcons

Oh my goodness, how surprising. I did not see that coming. Nope.

  • Rick Jackson

I wonder how difficult it will be to move to Norway….

  • bob

Why would anyone do business with trump without getting paid up front ?

  • John Ruff

    Ha ha ha!! Sucker!

  • Blobby

Too fucking bad for the pollsters. They got in bed w this guy – and his reputation is very well known for stiffing his vendors. Why would they think they’d be different? And they’ll be too wussy to truly take it to the press.

    • Gianni

Now they can add theirs to the very long list of lawsuits pending against Trump for the same reason.

  • LesbianTippingHabits

So, a sleazy pollster – knowing Donald Trump’s well-documented practice of stiffing suppliers – chose to provide services on anything other than a cash-up-front basis?

The pollster is probably also a parsimonious (cheap) tipper. Sorry. Lesson learned.

  • Platos_Redhaired_Stepchild

I hope KellyAnn Conway’s check bounces next.

  • B Snow

He’ll agree to pay….only if those polls show him winning.
