Reince Priebus Parrots False “Private Server” Claims

Politico reports:

“The FBI’s decision to reopen their criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s secret email server just 11 days before the election shows how serious this discovery must be,” said Chairman Reince Priebus in a statement shortly after news broke about the FBI’s action.

“This stunning development raises serious questions about what records may not have been turned over and why, and whether they show intent to violate the law.”

“What’s indisputable is that Hillary Clinton jeopardized classified information on thousands of occasions in her reckless attempt to hide pay-to-play corruption at her State Department,” Priebus continued. “This alone should be disqualifying for anyone seeking the presidency, a job that is supposed to begin each morning with a top secret intelligence briefing.”

  • JoeMyGod

To be fair, I too went with the initial false report. But I’m also not running a major party, so….

    • Michael Smith

To be fair, it seems like every major news organization got the initial report wrong.

      • another_steve

The cable TV pundits will say anything to get viewers watching through the next Cialis and reverse mortgage commercials. Facts, verification, careful analysis come second.

It’s all about ratings and keeping viewers from switching channels.

    • bobbleobble

Of course the issue isn’t that he got it wrong, it’s whether or not anyone anywhere is going to call him out on it properly, to his face and get him to say or at least say to him on air that he is lying. If no one does that and they just let his statements stand then this isn’t going to go away.

      • charemor

The Great Unwashed will only see the headlines and not look beyond that.

        • bobbleobble

But the headline becomes ‘GOP chairman lied about FBI letter on national news’

    • sherman

To be fair, the lies of RNC PR BS went far beyond the initial false report.

    • Rex

But if you were running a major party it would be fabulous.

      • Rex

The Gay Party – we’re not all that political, but we like to party!

        • GeneInSJ

We’d be fabulous and seriously, we’d get shit done.

    • GeneInSJ

You are forgiven. And let’s call him “Rinse Cycle”. His real name is just as ridiculous.

      • GeneInSJ

Not that I love mine. So yes, I CAN talk.

    • Nic Peterson

To be fair, Comey’s crack investigation couldn’t lead to a guilty verdict when 7 rednecks live blogged their armed takeover of a Federal Wildlife Preserve.

      • Crack investigation sums it up perfectly. Comey was investigating Paul Ryan’s crack from the smell of this letter today.

    • Falconlights

i hate to ask, Joe, but does this serious harm the probability of Hillary getting elected? I already voted for her, so no fear there, but what is going on. I am seeing things online that this could hand the election to Trump. I am really scared…for all of us,

    • DumbHairyApe

To be fair, they’re sacks of shit.

Something very important to remember – If Reince’s lips are moving he is lying.

    • William

If Reince’s lips are moving, he’s usually ordering another drink.

I think he has a standing order for whenever his current beverage runs low it is to be automatically replaced.

If this investigation is based on emails stolen by Russia and turned over to Wikileaks, none of it will stand up in court. There is no way to tell what may have been altered by paid Kremlin stooges.

    • bobbleobble

It doesn’t need to stand up in court, it just needs to get the words Clinton and emails together in as many headlines as possibly between now and November 8th.

      • William

        Sadly, yes.

    • Steverino

Any emails leaked by Wikileaks would be inadmissible in court, as they have been illegally obtained, and anything inadvertently admitted as evidence in court found out later to be from Wikileaks would be thrown out for the same reason. My question is if any of the emails Comey said the FBI will investigate are duplicates of anything Wikileaks has, or will leak, and what the legal ramifications would be in that case. I’ll leave it to our JMG legal beagles to weigh in on that.

But as a wise person once said, it is not the news, but the reaction to the news that is the issue. So even though the media walked back the “FBI is reopening their case” meme, you know Reich Priapus and Donny Osmond, Jr. (Chaffetz) are going to run with that lie.

  • EweTaw

Whether or not there is no there there, Jason Chaffetz is energetically making false charts to show how all of the dots are connected.

    • Randy Left Brooklyn

Really. He and Darryl Issa should be going to jail based upon the amount of slander they have spewed.

      • EweTaw

I’d love nothing more than to see Utah’s entire delegation put in jail. There’s plenty of evidence they should be. But Utah is Utah and as long as you profess to have a burning testimony of the Mormon gospel, well . . . there ya go.

      • Matt

He and Issa are probably getting in on in the House broom closet.

        Yuk, btw.

  • My first reaction was, “not this shit again, ENOUGH with the emails!” My second was, “wait a minute, what does this even say?” The Trumpsters’ reaction seems to have been, “Smoking gun, LOCK HER UP!” And the media is just all over the place, both talking about it being simultaneously an explosive bombshell, and possibly not much of anything. Methinks Comey needs to follow that letter with a clarification.

    • greenmanTN

Actually an apology would be more fitting, but I won’t hold my breath.

    • lymis

But you know damn well having launched this piece of crap publicly, Comey will respond that “The FBI does not comment on current investigations.”

  • HZ81

I’m sure this will end up like all the other shocking email “scandal” surprises.

    Crickets Tumbleweeds. GOP tears.

  • Randy Left Brooklyn

That they need to repeatedly lie about Clinton shows just how desperate they are. As proven by 1698 investigations that turned up nothing, zero indictments of her, she’s very clean.

    • Todd20036

Even if it doesn’t work and Hillary Clinton is elected, it still gives the RWNJs reasons to enjoy their conspiracy theories.

Yep. Comey f’d up, almost like the letter was purposefully vague.

Are we to the point now where they’re desperate to find anything? I’m having recollections of Ken Starr.

      • Steverino

Yep. The only thing I have ever dreaded about a Hillary Clinton presidency, would be the endless fishing for anything by House Republicans to gin up to an impeachable offense (assuming they retain control of the House). I guess they really want Tim Kaine to be president.

The only thing the letter serves to do is to make it a propaganda moment for Rinsed Penis.

  • Ray Butlers

This is not a mistake. He didn’t misunderstand the information. He is deliberately lying in order to attract votes to his candidate and away from the other candidate. Nobody needs to clear this up for him or give him a chance to clarify. An honest media would report what he said and then refute it with facts. Why is basic journalism so hard for so many?

    • Because basic journalism isn’t as profitable as contrived scandals and conspiracy theories.

    • Sk3ptic

I agree. The damage has been done with the fence sitters who were looking for a reason not to vote for Hillary over the wackadoodle.

    • Chuck in NYC

Yup. This year’s Swift-boating seems to have landed on the emails. Benghazi has settled down as back-burner. Obamacare could have been the issue — never mind that the GOP is in large part responsible for the resulting weaknesses when it was passed — but the media is doing the heavy lifting keeping the email issue alive 24/7. So the GOP is running with it.

If the “other” investigation is a legitimate investigation then that investigation should be examining the e-mails in question. The only imaginable reason to import the Clinton e-mail “investigation” into the equation is to justify looking at e-mails that otherwise the FBI has no justification in seeing.

I hope that on Monday, January 23, 2017, President Clinton asks for the FBI Director’s resignation. The Democrats need to start taking a scorched-earth approach to dealing with all Republicans in government. Enough of this “reaching out” bullshit. The GOP is intent on destroying the Federal government. They need to be treated as the domestic enemies they have proven themselves to be.

From HuffPo (current front-page headline WTF FBI), this:

The New York Times reported the emails the FBI is investigating were found on devices belonging to Clinton aide Huma Abedin and former Congressman Anthony Weiner. Weiner had been under federal investigation over allegations that he traded sexually explicit messages with an underage girl. Weiner and Abedin separated in August.

In a Friday letter to members of Congress, FBI Director James Comey said the agency, “in connection to an unrelated case” had learned of email that “appear to be pertinent to the investigation.” …

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/fbi-hillary-clinton-email-investigation_us_58138552e4b0990edc30cb36

So, the emails weren’t from Hillary, weren’t on her server, were on two other devices, and had to do with Wiener’s wiener. Pertinent? To what?

Those 5 million deleted Bush emails had been the target of a subpoena in the investigation of the firing of US Attorneys (for the crime of being Democrats). Deleting them was a felony. No one was ever held to account. Karl Rove set up the Bush White House email to go through the RNC servers. 22 million of those were likewise “deleted”. No one was ever held to account.
