BOOM: Hillary Drops The Mic On Trump’s Debate Lie

Via Business Insider:

Hillary Clinton’s campaign took a shot at Donald Trump in a tweet Friday afternoon. “Where was this kind of comedy last night?” Clinton’s account tweeted at Trump after the Republican nominee claimed that he had almost unanimously “won” the third and final presidential debate on Wednesday evening.

The Clinton campaign was referring to Trump’s speech Thursday night at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation dinner, a charity event in Manhattan where the two major-party presidential candidates traditionally roast each other in the lead-up to Election Day. A CNN/ORC instant poll showed that Clinton won the final presidential debate by a significant margin.

This hits me pretty hard, as a hard-of-hearing person, and as the mother of a grown child with a disability (my son has low vision due to albinism).

Due to the nature of my hearing loss, I can’t wear normal hearing aids. Instead I use a Bone Anchored Hearing Aid, (BAHA) – I have a little titanium rod implanted into my skull, and the device which I clip to it reads the vibrations sound makes to my skull. It works pretty well, and has transformed my life.

I’m a Canadian, so the entire cost for the surgery, the aftercare, and the devices is about $500 every five or six years. I’m involved in online groups of BAHA users, and my experience is not typical of US BAHA users – who, by the way, are mostly small children born without external ears or with other birth defects that make it impossible for them to use more standard technology. For them, even those with very good insurance, it’s another story. Insurance companies make a practice of disallowing claims for BAHAs when they are first submitted. Parents have to fight hard to get the benefits they are entitled to – the user groups have gotten together a lot of material that can be used to fight for benefits, as the denial of them is so common.

Essentially what is happening is that the insurance company knows that they should be paying for the BAHAs, (it’s not unusual to see a denial of benefits from the exact same person in the company who is finally being forced to pay someone else with the exact same coverage) but figure it’s worth denying on the chance that people will just give up. If you fight for a year or so, they’ll eventually give in, even while they are busy denying coverage to another family in the exact same circumstances.

I really can’t express strongly enough how evil this is – we know that the earlier a child gets their device, the earlier and better that child learns to speak. We know how devastating profound hearing loss can be. We know that many people have the insurance coverage that should make this all a no-brainer, but the companies delay simply because they can, and because sometimes it saves them money. They KNOW when they deny a claim that the claim is justified, and they deny it anyway.

Oh, and I know one of the themes being spread by the enemies of single payer health insurance in the States is that Canadians have to wait for care. Yeah, it took me about 16 months from my first “Maybe BAHA would work for you, I’m sending you to a specialist” appointment with my family doctor, to actually getting my device.

The average wait for most families in the US fighting their insurance companies is 18 months.

Thank you for sharing your story!

I see something wrong with the assumption first female POTUS candidate won’t really be the head of state but just a puppet for either or both of two former Presidents.

Some of us recall “humorous” speculations from decades ago about an imaginary woman President who would cancel vital meetings because her hair didn’t look right that day, or she was “in a mood.” All too clearly.

          • Lelosh

Are you referring to President Clark from the FTL (Faster Than Light) news service? Those were GREAT!

    • Lawerence Collins

Just sad that she’s such a hypocrite and fraud. Wave piles of cash in front of her and she’s for whatever you’re for.

      • lymis

I don’t believe that for a moment, but if it’s true, I’d rather have someone who, confronted with piles of money, works for others than someone who, confronted with piles of money, thinks only of his own ego.

        • bzrd

right you are, she’s been working for children and families for years while cheatoz has been screwing them

        • Lawerence Collins

You mean works for her donors! Believe what you want. But you should actually educate yourself about her. Up till July of 15 My brother was a huge supporter of Hillary’s. Then He rediscovered Bernie Sanders. He told me he’d seen a 60 Minutes piece on him decades before.
He educated himself all He could about him and his record. Then realized He didn’t really know about Hillary’s record, Only what Hed heard about it.
          He was saddened and dismayed.
Up until then I’d voted Republican all my life. My brother never gave me crap about it. I’m now consider myself a more liberal Independent.

Nate Silver is more-or-less saying it’s a done deal. According to him, it would take a sizable miracle for Trump to win now. Silver has been very very cautious in not ruling Trump out, but this is the closest he’s come.

        It was totally totally unbelievable.

        • The_Wretched

He totally misread them. He thought he was in with his people and didn’t realize Clinton has out hustled him and got them on board. That level of screw up will have Trump on the outs for the rest of his life with the elite class.

          • another_steve

Even if the crowd agreed with every word he said, that venue was the absolute wrong place to say what he did. The fuckin’ Archbishop of New York, for cryin’ out loud, was sitting five feet away from the podium, and Trump’s calling Hillary a “Catholic hater”?

The crowd came expecting the usual comity and good will those annual dinners represent, and instead they got hate rhetoric from Trump.

            The man is insane. Truly.

Charlie Cook has said the same thing – that there’s no realistic path for Trump now.

      • another_steve

His last possible shot is the disclosure of an email that clearly and unequivocally shows Clinton advocating something illegal. Not a staffer or advisor, but Hillary herself.

I’m confident they won’t find an email like that, but I’m betting they’re frantically looking for one.

No, he became the Wizard, who flies away from the plot in his hot-air balloon, which he himself could inflate with his rhetoric.

O/T I’m dealing a mild case of pneumonia so I’m stuck being in the house on JMG, thank Reason and Logic for JMG! Anyway, I made this for fun after watching Conan the Barbarian this morning and remembering last night’s events.

Sounds good. But please, after you recover, get the pneumonia vaccine (and the shingles vaccine, too).Long-term protection is a good thing.

          • Jean-Marc in Canada

Already have the shingles and I’m already scheduled for the pneumonia once I’m done. πŸ™‚

Get plenty of rest and check your temperature often. If you develop a fever, head to the E.R. Pneumonia should not be taken lightly.

In the meantime, enjoy all of the great JMG comments and please get well soon.

  • Michael R

    Wow

    ( everyone’s been holding back )

  • Traxley Launderette

    UGH.

He will be absolutely INSUFFERABLE on Twitter this weekend.

    • Gianni

I love reading his tweets. They show his vileness so well.

  • Tiger Quinn

    FATALITY

  • coram nobis

Well, yes, a poll might show him winning the debate — in the same sense a poll might show that Max Schmeling won his bout with Joe Louis. The fact that Schmeling was knocked out in the first round still might mean he “won” if the polls are agreeable.

  • KnownDonorDad

    Sure, the alt-right internet polls.

  • Brian in Valdosta

    BOOM!!!!!

    Damn, that was funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot wait until this woman is Mi Presidenta.

    • WillMoor

She clearly will be *provided* that all of her supporters actually DO get out and vote. This is one election that none of us can afford to sit out.

  • YakHerder

    SHOTS FIRED, SHOTS FIRED!

  • Barry William Teske

    “I WON”…

  • Dan Robinson

He just says what he wants to be true and he says it repeatedly. It then becomes “truth”.
“This American Life” yesterday was all about how incredibly blatant his lies have become and how they become the truth for so many people. He claimed Hillary started the birther movement. A clear falsehood. Yet it has become gospel to a large number of people just because he said it.
    America WTF?

  • bob

She should not have lowered to his level. Reflects badly to have the prospective POTUS popping out negative tweets; rendering the entire campaign less serious.
