Sarah Palin: Trump’s Pussy-Grabbing Comment Is Disgusting And Shameful And I’m Still Standing By Him

Just posted to Sarah Palin’s Facebook page:

Disgusting, shameful, totally disrespectful “locker room” garbage, privately shared between two Hollywood playboys over a decade ago, is now made to be “the crudeness heard ’round the world.” The old Bush and Trump braggart comments were beyond abhorrent and offensive, though both boys apologized for them.

As offensive, however, is media obsession with a very old conversation between non-political figures when we’re in a crucial time facing earth-altering shifts in our future. The Supreme Court, international tinderbox relationships, global security, and our entire economy hang in the balance. With the question of what kind of country we will leave our daughters and sons unanswered, I wisely look at today’s candidates’ positions and what they have accomplished, while being well aware there are no perfect candidates. I encourage all to quit putting faith in flawed human beings.

Going around media filters you clearly see one candidate offering a bold vision with solid plans to build a stronger, safer, greater America, while the career politician in the race offers only tired, sad, unsustainable, illogical ways of the past that will leave our children unsafe, broken and abused.

It’s undeniable that it’s only politics allowing characterization of Trump’s old comments as more outrageous and offensive than Hillary’s comments, as she’s caught on tape gleefully defending a child rapist, laughing behind the victim’s back, bragging about her disgusting, shameful, totally crude act in defense of a man’s worst perpetration of evil on a little girl.

    Better not stand too close…

Thank you, you brave retarded woman.

  • ultragreen

She’s too stupid to abandon Trump. The life boats are going to leave without her.

      Ugh. You.

      Peed my pants.

    • Neely OHara

I’m on schadenfreude overload as well, but one good belch and I might JUST have room for two more very bad stories…

    • PLAINTOM

She forgot his supporters who are even bigger scumbags than Trump. Yes, it is possible.

    • NZArtist

Y’know I was just thinking that. There’s still a month until election day. If I were the person releasing these clangers to the press I’d be holding the worst of them until about a week before the elections. So…. this travesty isn’t even the worst. There is still worse to come!
My panties are getting very moist. And they’re in the next room.

      • djcoastermark

That made me spit out a perfectly good sip of merlot ! But, I do think the timing is good seeing as mail in and early voting has already begun. The hit’s need to keep coming tho, just to remind the later voters.

      • Robincho

Kiwi moist is obviously some VERY serious moist!…

    • Reality.Bites

For those who (like me) didn’t have a clue who she is:

Former online comms strategist to Sen. Paul, Govs Walker & Perry & Carly Fiorina; former RNC Online Comms Director; Tory; libertarian; Arsenal fan

      • John30013

Wow, I didn’t know that either. It certainly gives her pronouncement more weight (i.e., she’s not a Democratic operative).

Mentioning two more seem awfully specific (she could have said “a couple more” if she were simply generalizing). That probably means she has first-hand (or pretty close to it) knowledge of what they are. I can’t wait for those bombs to drop.

As to the timing (which you didn’t bring up, R.B, but which is mentioned elsewhere in this thread), keep in mind that the NBC News was sitting on the Access Hollywood video and planned to release it after this weekend’s debate. Someone leaked the video to WaPo, who ran with it immediately, rather than waiting (for which I am eternally grateful). My point is that the holders of these other bombshells can’t necessarily control when they’ll be dropped, if there are other leaks.

    • Todd

I’d expect another one about three days before the next debate.

    • another_steve

More and more media outlets are reporting this: More is to come. More tapes are to be released.

      Overload.

      Just as you say. 😉

    • Smokey
      • FancyThat

        Great fire photo, Smokey! 🙂

  • Bruno

Um, his comments were MUCH more outrageous and offensive. He was describing how he repeatedly sexually assaults women. Hillary Clinton was a lawyer with a client.

Looks like Sarah’s off the beating Track again.

The Deseret News doesn’t “endorse” because all the bishops just tell ’em how to vote (and that’s what they do).

    • another_steve

Grabbing pussy is apparently incompatible with Mormon teaching.

      Whatever.

      Carry on.

      • Have you seen their magic underwear? Of course it’s incompatible.

But seriously, I’ve known a number of Mormon folks and while they’re odd and pushy and secretly obsessed with other people’s souls, they’re nevertheless usually nice in an awkward way. They never liked Trump to begin with, in a collective sense.

        • another_steve

Well, Mormons believe that one purpose of earthly life is to learn to choose good over evil.

          Donald Trump: FAIL.

          • BobSF_94117

The one purpose in life is a Romney presidency…

        • perversatile

The first time I saw a Mormon guy in his drawers, I was awfully disappointed, having thoroughly expected his magical underwear to be covered with cymbals

      • lattebud

        But grabbing your money isn’t

    • Oh’behr

On the other hand, if he drops out, the USA gets Pence, so there is that …

      • ShawnSwagger

Can’t happen. Can’t happen. Can’t happen. Why do people keep saying that?

The nominations for Vice President and President are completely separate, and Pence’s name can only appear on the ballot for one position. The procedure to remove Pence from the Vice Presidential nomination and instead have him be the Presidential nominee would be even more difficult and convoluted than just replacing Trump with, say, Romney or Ryan, and that is not going to happen because Trump has already said he won’t voluntarily resign.

The GOP’s only other option at this point would be to have him declared unfit, and Trump is not going to play along nicely with that because it would ruin him legally, financially, politically forever. They can’t declare him unfit unless Trump agrees to see independent, reputable psychiatrists who are not in his pockets and who would be willing to publicly discuss their diagnosis and Trump would have to agree to have their diagnoses released publicly because it would be personal medical information, and he would be completely ruined in the process, as in he might not even be able to legally sign contracts or dispose of his estate after that. So there is no way in hell that Trump will go along with that, and Trump probably has more nasty lawyers than they do.

And on top of all that hurdle, there is less than 30 days to Taco Tuesday now, and early voting has already begun in some states. The legal challenges if they tried to replace Trump would be mind-boggling and I can’t see them being resolved in the courts in less than 30 days.

        • ben-andy

The Thugs can’t replace Hair Drumpfster Fire unless he quits. By their own rules, they can’t. After 9/30 they can’t even change their own rules by their own rules. Seriously, I looked it up. Rule 9 and Rule 41 cover these two aspects. Donnie is, unless dead or resigns or INELIGIBLE to serve [probably as in the case that he’s too young or not born in the US], their nominee and will appear on the ballots in all 50 states + DC. Actually, he already does appear as Overseas and military ballots must be received 45 days in advance or the middle of Sept. So, the “legality” would be that they’ve broken their own rules.

They can wage a write in campaign and there Pence or Ryan are their best bets. Ryan is currently 3rd in line and would automatically become the heir apparent if NOBODY is elected on Nov. Pence will still appear as VP and will remain VP-elect [shudder, it could happen] until Inauguration Day, and THEN he can be sworn in as POTUS. But the HOUSE will have until then to decide if they want someone else, if say Donnie has died. Mostly he would have to die AFTER being elected, however as the wording doesn’t really posit for a dead on election day person being elected. And, of course, the Electoral Collage is who actually “votes” to make someone POTUS.

And then the Supremes will probably be asked to rule and will find it difficult to do so w/ only 8. Oh well. And that is the State of the Nation, folks. Pass the popcorn.

What I expect to happen is some slide of Drumpfster-ish support in every direction, Hillz, Jillz, Gare, Evan, write in Pence, McCain [probably John and Cindy’s vote so at least 2]. And for Hillz to win by MORE than she otherwise would have. This effect will be MOST pronounced among undecided voters just because they are undecided. Hillz might get over 50% but she’ll surely win. The length of the coattails to be determined.

          • Stubenville

I think there may be one loophole post election, assuming the Republicans win; the electors of electoral college could be told by Republican leadership to select an alternate candidate. The downside is that some states require electors to vote for the official party candidate (at least for the first round.)

        • Christopher Smith

THANK YOU! so many stooooopit posts on this. Finally, some sense!

        • Bluto

So in other words, they’re royally, thoroughly fucked.

        • BobSF_94117

… I can’t see them being resolved in the courts in less than 30 days

Yet look what happened when the Florida recount posed such an “impossible” challenge that the process wasn’t allowed to play out. All it will take is a federal judge tossing out the rules and a divided SCOTUS, 4 to 4, to uphold the judgement(s).

    • ShawnSwagger

The governor of Utah, Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Chaffetz were among the first three Republicans to cut off Trump yesterday and now this, so I think Utah might be voting Clinton, or at least not voting Trump, this year. The mormons never liked Trump at all, from what I’ve read, but they have a very hard time not pulling the lever for the (R).

      • BobSF_94117

        Write-in Romney will win Utah.

    • barrykyle415

I’m nobody’s fan of religious folk, including Mormons especially because of Prop 8, but the Mormon’s have to be given credit for their adherence to their beliefs, as hateful and harmful as they are. Compared to the the Evangelicals, they are the paragon of religious belief.

  • Who knew a sixty year old is a “boy”. Well that excuses everything! *rolls eyes right out of her head*

    • djcoastermark

But in the Leather Community, one can still be a boy at 60 or more. I know though, y’all are right, that’s a whole different scenario.

      • Yes but those shenanigans are cheeky and fun, while Trumps shenanigans are cruel and tragic, making them not shenanigans at all, really.

        • Droz

          Evil shenanigans!

        • DenveRyk

Especially cheeky in those *ssless chaps!

      • Christopher Smith

        A much pleasanter topic…….:)

  • Marc

Sorry, “boys will be boys” doesn’t apply to 59 year old, thrice divorced men with 5 4 children.

    • ggg

Sarah Palin is an enabler of these grown men and their sexual abusiveness by calling them “boys” and downplaying the whole thing. SAD!

    • another_steve

      “Stand by your man.”

Applies, I guess, even when he wants to grab your pussy in an uninvited manner.

    • TampaDink

He only had 4 at the time. Mel was knocked up (and likely too fat/disgusting to hold her husband’s attention) with Barron. So that makes him a boy 11 yrs. ago. ;-D

      • Marc

You’ve just shattered my entire perspective on this issue. Clearly it was the fifth child that matured him! 😉

        • TampaDink

I only know this because I am also a 5th child. Presumably, my parents were both still children until my arrival. ;-p

      • DenveRyk

He did call her a monster and a blimp while she was preggers, so there’s that.

        • TampaDink

She should be glad that he didn’t have her deported for being a monster blimp, since she hadn’t become a U.S. citizen yet.

    • Todd20036

Not off topic: Caroline Giuliani, yes, the daughter of Rudy, is backing Clinton.

Not quite the same thing, but still….

      • bkmn

I saw that before yesterdays recording surfaced. She has always had different politics than her father.

  • PLAINTOM

Dear Sarah, how is your son doing in the special program? You the know the one. The one that let him avoid jail time for domestic violence. Remember, beating up his girlfriend and threatening her with a gun ? I really don’t need your opinion on how men should treat women.

    • Bruno

Sarah Palin isn’t an enabler, no sirree.

    • ShawnSwagger

Remember when she was blaming her son’s illegal activities on PTSD and Obama’s supposed lack of respect for our military troops? I just found out recently that he got in trouble as a teenager before he even enlisted… for cutting the brake lines on a school bus!!

      • Todd20036

Yeah. Track went into the military to avoid jail time for that “prank”.

        • ShawnSwagger

          Mama grisley.

        • TampaDink

          Thanks Obama! ;-p

        • Guest

Not a provable or factual comment. But that does not matter to you Todd. Far better people in the journalist field could not prove that. And the military ended the taking of court date deals years ago.

          • PeterC

well, it was in the papers of Alaska at the time; and Palin did not dispute it. So guess it was factual.

I believe that story itself has been shown not to be entirely accurate. The only somewhat reliable reporting I could find online is a story in the NY Daily News, so make of that what you will, but here it is: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/reports-track-palin-vandalized-school-buses-aren-true-pal-article-1.184355.

In it, one of the vandals denies that Track Palin was involved. Interestingly, Snopes.com doesn’t seem to have anything on this story, even though it got quite a bit of press at the time.

        • Christopher Smith

Gee, how interesting. Wonder if payola could *possibly* have had anything to do with that little denial? *snort*

      • DenveRyk

PTSD ??? you mean like Donald said, he wasn’t strong enough?? Who’d a thunk it!! Not a Palin. Those Palin men can take any woman down!

        • Robincho

          Easy-peasy, when she’s so drunk she can’t walk…

      • Nowhereman

It was more than one bus. Four boys/young men cut brake lines and deflated bus tires, and in freezing weather they unplugged the block heaters. The schools were closed for the day. Track was pulled out of school and sent out of state. I would wonder if his sudden enlistment was to avoid formal charges.

This part is a complete fake :

” It’s undeniable that it’s only politics allowing characterization of Trump’s old comments as more outrageous and offensive than Hillary’s comments, as she’s caught on tape gleefully defending a child rapist, laughing behind the victim’s back, bragging about her disgusting, shameful, totally crude act in defense of a man’s worst perpetration of evil on a little girl. ”

Sarah Palin you are a lying asshole

This is one of the right wing’s favorite bullshit distortions and should have been buried by now

WHAT’S TRUE: In 1975, young lawyer Hillary Rodham was appointed to represent a defendant charged with raping a 12-year-old girl. Clinton reluctantly took on the case, which ended with a plea bargain for the defendant, and later chuckled about some aspects of the case when discussing it years later.

WHAT’S FALSE: Hillary Clinton did not volunteer to be the defendant’s lawyer, she did not laugh about the case’s outcome, she did not assert that the complainant “made up the rape story,” she did not claim she knew the defendant to be guilty, and she did not “free” the defendant.

      http://www.snopes.com/hillary-clinton-freed-child-rapist-laughed-about-it/

      What else is true ?
Sarah Palin is to stupid to know what public defender
being handed a court appointment is . Get a job bitch .

      • popebuck1

If Sarah Palin is really upset about Hillary defending a child rapist, she’s going to get her golden opportunity next week, when Trump goes on trial for raping a 13-year-old.

        • Uncle Mark

How interesting that Ms Palin exonerates Trump this pussy-grabbing sins because this boastful discussion happened so long ago…11 years between “two non-political figures.” Yet after making this point, she then brings up what non-political attorney Hillary Clinton did 40 years ago. Contradicting her initial reasoning for forgiving her odious choice for president. God, that woman is really clueless….if only she were speechless, too.

The right wing is also going after Time Kaine for defending criminals during his time as a defense attorney. They forget that every one of us, guilty or innocent, is entitled to an attorney when charged with a crime. Well, they forget it until it happens to them.

        • Stephen Elliot Phillips

NO. only white people are entitled to an attorney. This is simple race baiting. Just bring up the rape of a white woman and a spoon fed ignorant populace immediately thinks some dark skinned sexual predator did the deed.

What’s Sarah’s thoughts on Trump’s ‘PTSD soldiers are weak’ comment?

She’ll sacrifice her daughters on the altar of GOP, but her son as well?

    • MB

NM Governor Susana Martinez (R) is the latest to completely bail on Trump:

“What Trump brags about is appalling and completely unacceptable,” Martinez said. “No woman should ever be treated the way he claims he treated women. Unfortunately, there is a pattern of disturbing conduct and offensive rhetoric that raises serious questions about his fitness to be President. That’s why I have withheld my support from the very beginning, and will not support him now.”

      ABQ Journal 10/8/2016

      • cheakamus

Not exactly “bailing” if she “withheld her support from the very beginning.” Props to her, if true.

Actually he was threatening himself with a gun.

  • moebym

Can someone enlighten me on the origin of this accusation against Hillary? I don’t believe for a second that she ever acted gleeful at the expense of a child who was raped, but I just want to know where this came from.

    • Jamie_Johnson

Clinton defended an accused rapist, but she did not volunteer. He pleaded guilty to a lesser offense. She laughed when recalling unusual aspects of the case.

      A lot more:

    • Elagabalus

Sarah Palin pulled it out of her twat. That’s where it came from.

    • yetanotherLaura

She was assigned a pro bono case, and as befits a good attorney, defended the guy well. Even though he was a child-raping bastard. But even the worst criminals deserve a competent defense. That’s a feature of our democracy.

      • moebym

Thank you. And I completely agree.

  • Todd20036

The only reason Palin isn’t really disgusted is that her behavior is similar to his.

Lord knows she can’t even have a garden party without turning into a drunken brawl.

And while Trump wants to use his daughter as a sex toy, Palin uses her son as a stage prop.

So yeah, birds of a feather and all that….

No surprises here. Sarah just cashed The Donald’s Westerrn Union for her meth.

Funny how this issue is divorcing the Republicans from The Deplorables.

Also …. Why are his defenders describing this as something DONALD said ? These were things DONALD TOLD BILLY HE DID !!

  • 2amor

Does anyone know of a Sarah Palin filter or translator I could use? Because I have no idea what the fuck she just said…..

    • ggg

Agreed . . “Boys”?????Mama Grizzly sure does like to talk “down home”. Trump was 60 when he said those things . . . not a “boy”, but someone very settled into his personality already. Bush was 34. Not a boy either. And of course its the ACTIONS of sexual assault not the “private talk” that is hugely problematic and UNPRESIDENTIAL. Lies and distractions about Hillary are just an attempt at distraction.

  • Elagabalus

They keep bringing up the fact that Trump said these things a decade ago – as though that makes a difference.

    • Bruno

If he were 15 at the time, it might. Not 59.

I’ve seen lots of them trying to rationalize it by saying he was a Democrat back then. But molesters don’t change their ways and he is a Rethug now and they own him.

It’s a lame attempt. Democrats wouldn’t make such a lame attempt and wouldn’t get away with it if we did.

One “boy” apologized with what appears to be some degree of sincerity. The other “boy” said the words “I apologize if I offended anyone” and then used the majority of his statement to go on the attack.

      • John30013

And then read (or was forced to read) a statement prepared by someone(s) else that stated an unequivocal apology for the words he spoke but not the actions described by those words—actions that those words indicated Trump had actually taken against actual women (in other words, not hypothetical situations).

And then he went on to deflect from his own repulsive behavior by focusing on Bill Clinton’s perhaps similar behavior, thought it is completely irrelevant to this situation and does nothing to absolve him of his own; and to criticize Hillary Clinton’s understandable impulse to defend her husband.

That is the word that got me too. Boys. He’s older than she is and she is calling him a boy? Wasn’t he 59 years old when he said this? That is quite a few years past boyhood don’t you think?

“Boys”? Trump was 60. Bush was in his 30s. When they’re over 21 they’re not “boys” anymore, and they’re responsible for what they say and do.

Donald Trump Said in 2012 Gloria Allred Would Be ‘Very, Very Impressed’ With His Penis
    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/10/07/trump-wanted-to-show-it-all-to-gloria-allred.html

When Marco Rubio managed to briefly get under his skin during Trump’s march to the nomination, the real estate mogul reverted to discussing the size of his penis during a debate.
And shortly after marrying his wife in 2005, he was caught on tape disgustingly joking about sexual assault.
Another particularly vulgar example of Trump’s boorish behavior came in 2012 when he offered to show attorney Gloria Allred his manhood—and then questioned the gender identity of the lawyer who famously crusades on behalf of her female clients.

His loyal party will still happily impeach him in June, however, as President Pence steps up to bat before the first SCOTUS seat is filled.

All praise to Trump who paved the way for President Pence, the true endorsement candidate of Wyatt Jesus.

          It could happen….

There are four more weekends before the election. Mair’s two revelations leave us two more weekends to fill…. However, I have not doubt that now that the dam has burst, people will be coming out of the woodwork to tell their stories.

Of course, if it’s just more of what we’ve already heard, the public will tire of it. So I hope the new revelations involve other factors (like the Trump “University” trial, or the payoff scandal with Bondi, or some juicy expose on Trump’s business dealings in Russia and how they would directly threaten the U.S.’s geopolitical power against Russian aggression).

Of course it’s okay with Sarah Palin. Her daughter is a twice unwed mother who no man wants. Well, only for sex. Sarah’s son is a fellow that may be a good ole boy but she sure needs to get him some help. And then there’s Sarah whose husband got hurt but she went ahead campaigning for Trump till it was convenient for her to go to him. Sarah, who quit her job, rather than have her dirty laundry exposed and be prosecuted.
The “good ole boys” is a commonly heard term in the south but she’s not a southern girl and neither are Trump and Bush.
Anyway, the hypocrisy is so obvious. Had Bill Clinton said this, the Rethuglicunts would be wanting Hillary tarred and feathered. Too bad only Trump keeps looking bad.

    Just read on Politico

Trump told Howard Stern “yeah” when asked “Can I call Ivanka a piece of Ass?”

OMFG….WHO says its ok for anyone to call his daughter a “piece of ass”???

    • ggg

      http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/08/politics/trump-on-howard-stern/index.html

Trump engaged in crude conversations about women for years with Howard Stern. Topics Trump discussed: Ivanka’s physique, having sex with women on their menstrual cycles. and leaving women after they reach the age of 35.

In more than one interview with Stern, Trump took part in conversations about Ivanka Trump’s appearance, including one about the size of her breasts.
In an October 2006 interview, Stern remarks that Ivanka “looks more voluptuous than ever,” and asked if she had gotten breast implants. Trump is willing to engage in the discussion about his own daughter, telling Stern that she did not get implants.
“She’s actually always been very voluptuous,” Trump responds. “She’s tall, she’s almost 6 feet tall and she’s been, she’s an amazing beauty.”

      On women’s ages
In his interviews with Stern, Trump discussed leaving women after a certain age and dating younger women.
In a 2002 appearance, Trump calls 30 “a perfect age.”
      “Until she’s 35,” a co-host interjects.
“What is it at 35? It’s called check-out time,” Trump responds.

In a 2006 interview, Stern asks Trump, “Do you think you could now be banging 24-year-olds?”
      “Oh, absolutely,” Trump says.
“Would you do it?,” asks Stern.
“I’d have no problem,” Trump said.
Stern then asked Trump if he has an age limit.
“No, I have no age — I mean, I have age limit. I don’t want to be like Congressman Foley, with, you know, 12-year-olds.”

In an 1993 appearance, Stern and Trump discussed wealthy men who cannot get dates, when Stern says the difference with Trump is that he satisfies the women he sleeps with.
“And I couldn’t care less,” Trump replied.

And much more . . . such a nice decent guy. NOT. SAD!

“See I am one of the good guys. I called for him to quit! Oh and please forget all the times I endorsed him and said nice things about him.”

“Within one year of the alleged rape, Broaddrick attended a fund-raiser for Clinton and accepted appointment by him to a state advisory board.

In 1997, Broaddrick signed an affidavit and gave a deposition in the Jones case, denying twice under oath that Clinton raped her. “These allegations are untrue and there is no truth to these rumors.” If Clinton did rape her, 20 years later, why would she still not tell the truth?

In 1998, Broaddrick told independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr that her Jones testimony was false, but that she had been under absolutely no pressure from the president or the White House to file a false affidavit. So, did she lie to the Jones team? Or did she lie to Starr?”

  • teeveedub

I just love this imaginary statute of limitations that Tяump’s defenders seem to be applying here. “Oh, it happened so long ago!” It’s as if by saying that it happened a long time ago that Tяump is automatically absolved of any wrongdoing.

If Tяump had shown any behavior since that time that demonstrated that he had changed, there might be a case to be made. But he has only shown what a pig he has been. His vulgarities on the bus with Billy Bush align 100% with everything else he has shown us about himself.

Are his words disgusting? Yes. And not because he used the word “pussy.” They’re disgusting because he used the word “grab.” Sex ain’t bad; non-consensual sex is what’s bad.

I respectfully disagree. Trump supporters are already saying that Hillary leaked the video to distract from Wikileaks. They’re even saying the GOP is in collusion with the Democrats to stop Trump. No reason to suspect Trump won’t say it was rigged.

      • ShawnSwagger

And the media. And the Miss Universe contestants. And the weather. It’s all one gynormous conspiracy.

      • Bruno

Even if the Clinton campaign leaked it to time it a certain way, it’s not like he didn’t say that shit in the first place. Pretty sad!

    • She’s mistaken. Trump is Trump, it is easy for him to lie and claim he was cheated out of a win. Unless he is somehow literally forced out of the race altogether, he’s going to do it.

What will make it impossible to get any traction at all is the fact nobody outside his howling rabid base of bloodthirsty supporters will believe him. Not even the talking heads of Fox News…excepting maybe O’Reilly and Hannity.

  • AtticusP

Living proof that stupid is as stupid does.

  • Let’s be perfectly clear here, folks: The GOP rats jumping ship now aren’t upset at all that Trump said any of the things he’s said. Misogyny, objectifying women, and rape culture are all part of the Republican party’s core values. As are ALL of the disgusting and appalling things he’s been saying his entire life, but as emphasized when he called Mexicans drug dealers, rapist, and murderers, excepting some might be okay, but he said he didn’t know for sure.

They were always somewhat restive all along, with the professional politicians knowing damned well no matter how much one rabble-roused the GOP base and no matter how many of the fringy white supremacist types one tried to rally, it is simply not enough votes to elect a President.

The GOP leadership spent most of this year hoping though that between Trump’s rabidly loyal (and still loyal) radicalized GOP base, plus the political tribalism which makes people continue to vote for their party’s nominees even when they’re not well liked, plus a good campaign for the low-information undecideds who vote for the image and not the actual candidate — that that would be enough to win, maybe, given Clinton’s political vulnerabilities. (And remember, sexism IS a core GOP value.)

No, they’re bailing on Trump now because he will almost certainly lose at this point. And because many of them now have been forced to face the reality of the potential ends of their own careers if they remain tethered to the Trumptanic as it sinks beneath the icy waves.

Some few of them actually do mean what they’re saying, that what Trump said is unforgivable and deplorable. However, these are the ones who were saying it BEFORE Friday’s news broke. Guys like Romney, for example. Senators McCain and Ayotte though? Don’t believe them for a second. Both of them are trying to keep their Senate seats, nothing more.

Never lose sight that all of these craven GOP men and women are denouncing what Trump said (and incidentally that he was so stupid as to be caught on audio doing it). NONE of them is mentioning the larger context of Trump’s baldfaced confession of multiple acts of battery and sexual assault on women. The uninvited kissing is bad enough, but the groin grabbing? I refer to it as an actual confession because there were already women who’d filed court complaints that that’s what Trump did to them. The details even match up: The aggressive cornering, the grabbing, and so on.

The Republican leadership and their rank-and-file members would have us believe what Trump SAID was the problem, and not notice what he DID. They would also have us forget it was they who allowed this to happen. They who created the dank and fetid, but fertile environment in which a monster like Trump could move in, thrive, and grow. Until today, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell did not care they were electing a fascist madman and a sexual predator to the Presidency — because they believed they would hold power co-equal to his and be able to control him. They were wrong and they deliberately chose the morally abominable course because it would benefit THEM and their party, and America itself be damned.

Never forget who didn’t just let this happen, but who made it all but inevitable it one day would. And do not let them escape the consequences of their treasonous, self-serving choices.

        • marshlc

Yup. That casual “I can do anything I want to you, and you’ll take it because I’m rich and powerful” attitude was not even a little bit rare back when Trump was learning how to be Trump.

They’re using “everybody does it” as an excuse, but to me it’s not an excuse, it’s an indictment of an entire way of looking at the world. Greed and a moral vacuum, and a deep and abiding contempt for most of the human beings they share the world with. “Everybody” does do it, if by “do it” you mean not really giving shit if the person they are screwing over consents or has a choice. Somebody’s got something they want, they take it.

          Trump’s a shit, but he’s a representative shit.

And stupid fool journalists like Chuck Todd were on TV today yammering about how they thought it was just an *act*, just *entertainment*, you see. Implying that, until now, they *surely* thought that Trump didn’t believe everything he was saying and couldn’t possibly continue to be that bad should he be elected. But this video/audio!!! It was a private moment that showed who he really was. Gosh! It WASN’T just an act.

I can’t convey how pathetic he looked and sounded. There were a few other journalists spewing the same lame crap.

They found him to be entertaining and they didn’t take him seriously. They were busy being amused while our Democratic Republic was subjected to this sociopath. They’re equally despicable.

      • David L. Caster

Indeed, they are. The coverage of this election and going back to 2000 has been the same way. It took a candidate like Trump to make it so blindingly evident, that the media’s complacency cannot now be ignored.

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

The RNC can go eat poo. If you actually give a shit about a non-Trump presidency, the least you can do is give her a Senator who DOESN’T bellyache about how much he hates the job and wants the Oval office instead.

And again, I must point out the coneheaded stupidity of voting GOP when even the Florida GOPers are TERRIFIED by their state being flooded into non-existence by global warming.

      • Tor

You mean that pesky global warming that doesn’t exist?

    • This is actually pretty big news, and confirms what was suspected via that report earlier today that the RNC had ordered all ‘Trump Victory’ spending stopped, including mailers and stuff that were already at the print-shops.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

I hope that Trump goes after the GOP big time for cutting back their support. I’d like the GOP to lose Trumpeteers permanently.

        • At this point, given how Ryan and other GOPers have been booed at their own campaign events today, it’s already happening.

I’m not kidding: I truly believe the House is in play now, and the likelihood of the Dems retaking the Senate is going to approach certainty before this is over.

It is interesting though to see the GOP strategy moving forward from this to be telegraphed so clearly, that they’re going to grab a piece of Clinton’s coattails to get their own candidates elected. Won’t work, given the Trumpite defections, but it’s interesting.

          • Skeptical_Inquirer

There has also been rumors that Ailes and Trump are just doing this so they can create a rival network to Faux News. Trump is going to have a platform to roast his enemies (if he doesn’t forget to actually PAY the people he hires) which is for sure going to include many of the GOP elite and hopefully some of their donors as well.

Who PAYS OFF this Broaddrick bitch?

  • Bj Lincoln

Finally she speaks up and it had to be written by someone else. It is full of complete sentences and thoughts. That it is full of lies is not a surprise. The only “earth-altering shifts in our future” would be if Trump became President. Our “our entire economy hang in the balance” only if Hillary allows dicks like Trump to continue to not pay their taxes. Our international relationships are the best they have been in years thanks to Obama who spent his first 2 years apologizing for the last GOP ass that drove our country into the ground. As for what we tell our daughters, we make them understand hitting and hitting on them in a vulgar unwanted manner is wrong and should never be tolerated instead of excusing and blaming bad behavior on other people. Hillary has spent her life helping children. As for the lies about her defending a child rapist, they are lies and we all know it. So Palin can crawl back to her den with her rotten children and grandchildren and STFU.

17 Republican candidates opposition research teams failed to take Donald out

    • Enjoy, John. I don’t like you. I don’t respect you. Had you been elected, you would’ve ruled as a far-right, albeit sane and competent, President.

But please do enjoy your well-deserved moment of deepest satisfaction that you were both right and one of the very, very few Republican leaders to refuse to support Donald. You will be known as The One Who Said No.

And probably the 2020 frontrunner for the GOP nod, assuming the party still exists by then. Because with Trumpy trumping off with his Trumpites, all bets are off as to whether or not you can rebrand as a not crazypants party with the small minority of voters you will have left.

      • Bruno

He’s so much better than Pence or Cruz for me in terms of 2020.

      • ShawnSwagger

That’s the bittersweet part for him (and maybe Romney, Jeb, Graham and a few GOP governors like Halley and Martinez). They get to say “I told you so”, but they’re left as the relatively “sane” survivors of a insane self-destructing party. There’s nothing salvageable to inherit. The deplorables are still there, and there’s enough of them that they were able to control the entire nomination/primary process this time. Just today, they heckled and booed Paul Ryan, and Ryan isn’t even one of the Republicans who has officially withdrawn support for Trump. Ryan is more or less in the same situation as Pence. Nothing is good enough for the deplorables except strapping on a suicide vest and following Trump into the abyss.

    • bob

I would bet pence got a similar deal that they offered Kasich. You do the work and I’ll take credit! Kasich was smart enough to run away.

    • Herald

Isn’t tomorrow night a town hall type debate with questions from the crowd? If it is Hillary might not even have to do anything.

      • Captain Obvious

He had a practice debate before a live audience in preparation for that. It did not go well. He was erratic, rambling, and woefully unprepared. He ignored his time-limit clock to a great extent with blathering answers.

      • bkmn

But a good first jab to rile him up will go a long way, especially if she accuses him of sexual assault, which it was.

        It’s a tightly woven basket 🙂

      • Yeah, but there are not and never were enough of them to elect anybody. In truth, they are only about 20% of all the voters. The GOP was counting on another 20% of loyal partisans and enough low-information / easily swayed undecideds to put Trump in the Oval Office (shudder).

Thank god that’s over. We are now witnessing the fracturing of the GOP, like a continental plate splitting in half.

As a side note, Trump has fallen nearly 7 percent in the last day on electionbettingodds.com. I believe that’s the biggest single day drop I’ve ever seen on that site.

    • Bruno

Only 7 though? This is cataclysmic buffoonery.

    • CharlestonDave

They also have Stein beating Johnson. Ha!

Why should this bother Trump, who never wanted Pence in the first place?

    • DaddyRay

If Pence quits the ticket and then Trump steps down how does that work?

      • Treant

They’d have to reconvene once, or perhaps twice if one quits long enough after the other, to choose a new VP and Presidential candidate.

But it’s too late to get it on the ballots in every single state. And voting has already started in many states, so the status of the ballots is very much in question.

I don’t think it’ll happen. The Republicans will simply abandon any hope for the Presidency this cycle and work on retaining the House and Senate. Creating a huge Constitutional crisis over their Presidential candidate (who they confirmed and supported) isn’t going to help them out there. They’d simply make a token effort and let it go.

        • Captain Obvious

          Forfeit!

Wow. It could come to that.

        • ben-andy

The RNC can “replace” in the case of a “vacancy” for any reason, at any time.

But they can’t get on ANY ballot. Overseas and Military ballots are done 45 days in advance, so mid-Sept. The states will generally NOT reprint for a change at this point. They would leave it to the Electoral Collage to “fix” whatever problem. And how would they count the votes for Donnie and Mikey if there was ANOTHER set of candidates on a later ballot. Not as votes for the NEW guys certainly.

But the splintering of the Thug vote is full level shimmy good in my opinion, Madame President.

        • RoFaWh

          There simply isn’t time.

      • CharlestonDave

Not a lawyer here, so take this with a grain of salt, but I don’t see any way that persons who voted early for Trump could have their votes imputed to a replacement Republican candidate. All you’d need is one early voter with an ACLU attorney going to Federal Court and saying they didn’t vote for a generic Republican, they voted for Trump and their vote is being taken away from them. Seem like a slam-dunk case. Combine that with the dead-enders and deplorables who would vote for Trump anyway and from spite would not vote for a replacement. So it would certainly end up as a splintering, and essentially a forfeit to the Democratic candidate.

I predict the Republicans will put some serious thought into a superdelegate system like the Democrats have, where the party graybeards have electoral power that balances the express will of the voters. Which, of course, will generate more resentment from the Republican base, which will think they are being disenfranchised.

Making a note to buy more popcorn. 🙂

    • Bruno

I just can’t really believe this all is actually happening.

    • Lazycrockett

That is really putting Pence in the pickle with the establishment.

    • Already have confirmed reports that Pence went home, canceling his previously scheduled campaign events, and told the Trump people he needed 48 hours “solo.”

I cannot imagine a scenario where he isn’t talking with his wife and closest advisers as to what to do, with dropping from the ticket very much on the table. As in voluntarily leave, w/out needing to be pressured into doing so.

      • Bruno

My feeling is he wants to leave, but is giving it some time to see what works out. Nothing seems to be working out.

    • MikeBx2

Pence has to realize there’s likely much more coming. This is his chance to get out and seem, phony as it may be, sincere about it. Otherwise, he’s stuck.

      • MikeBx2

And as Democrats we really want Pence to drop out. Not because Trump will lose. He’s going to lose anyway. But Pence dropping out will create even more chaos. Huge impact on down ballot races.

    • Outlaw Woman

      Oh my God !!!
      I just had a thought.
Pence quits the ticket, and Sarah Palin steps in !

Oh please, oh please … the insanity will be sooooooo entertaining that I may literally have a heart attack from the joy and glee !!

      • Bruno

On the other hand, those 2 together could basically start national riots.

Hilarious. But I do think there will be some disorganized GOTV by tRumpanzees. Attempts, anyway.

      • TampaDink

Disorganized trumpanzee last ditch efforts=cross burnings & lynchings?

    • sherman

The RNC will still have GOTV for down ballot candidates, which is not much different than GOTV for down ballot + Trump.

      • Bruno

This year it will be, because they’ll be targeting both tRump and Hillary voters who say they intend to vote downticket Rethug.

    • Stubenville

      Pity.

      [resumes filing nails]

  • I’ve decided I needed to do one other very important thing this campaign cycle, besides us giving hundreds of bucks to the Clinton campaign and to select Democratic candidates locally and around the country.

I’ve decided I’m done cheating the Washington Post paywall via “incognito” Chrome browser windows. I just signed up for a digital subscription.

If not for America’s journalists — like David Fahrenthold and others — we would not be witnessing the GOP’s self-inflicted political apocalypse. Do they sometimes or often fall down on the job? Sure. But without journalists and a free press, we’d have nothing but what’s on TV — and we already know THEY were in the bag for sustaining the Trump campaign long, long after it should’ve been aborted.

If you have some money, consider supporting journalism.

And Joe, for the love of Cthulhu, put up a Paypal button here!

    • SoCalGal20

Yes, I’m going to get a digital subscription as well. WaPo, particular David Farenthold, has done stellar work this election cycle and, especially in this day and age, we should to what we can to support excellence in journalism. 🙂

      • TuuxKabin

Excellent idea. Will continue reading NYT incognito, but will discuss with el huboolah digital subscription to the WaPo. Excellence in journalism must be supported. Thanks.

    • Ross

My issue with the WaPo, as with the NYT, is they have done SO many nasty and even untrue Hillary stories.

I cancelled my NYT subscription a year ago for this reason.

Yes, they have also done some good reporting on Hillary.

  • Stubenville

Oh, the clutched pearls and the outrage when Hillary called Trump supporters “deplorables.”

    • Bruno

They seem to be calling themselves that now, so, no harm no foul.

  • Cuberly

Uh oh, put down the tarps. Cruz Lizardman is going to pray on it.

    • Lazycrockett

He does know that Drumpf is gonna keep his balls, right?

    • RainbowPhoenix

Buzzfeed is pointing out that Cruz is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. If he does, he proves that he is an opportunist with no principles, and if he doesn’t, then he tacitly agrees with Trump’s bragging.

      • DaddyRay

Please oh please take Cruz down with you Trump

      • ‘Proves’? At this point it’s only ‘confirms AGAIN.’ He was renting his mailing list to Trump even before the RN Convention

        • Cuberly

Along with Erik Erickson’s (sp?). Redstate.

Interesting how their indignation stops at their bank account.

      • Cuberly

Almost the entire GOP right now is in that same boat to a certain degree. But yeah, Cruz is a special case.

        • djcoastermark

I’d drop the word “special”., but you’re correct.

          • Cuberly

Heh….btw, you back home yet? Any damage?

          • djcoastermark

we are on the west coast and had no effects from the storm. I did put out a msg for any JMGers, that if someone needed to evacuate from the storm, they were more than welcome to stay in our spare bedroom. Hotel rooms were hard to come by and very expensive from Orlando all the way to here in St Pete.

          • Cuberly

Oh that’s right….I’m getting the FL JMGers mixed up. Now I feel bad I was remiss in checking in with other FL JMGers….. 🙁

          • djcoastermark

Don’t feel bad, from what I’ve heard from others around the state , we dodged the bullet.

          • Cuberly

Still, I know some JMGers where commenting from hotels.

          • CharlestonDave

    • Max_1

      WAS

    • Cuberly

Remember when Paul Ryan called him a racist?

Oh the tangled webs they weave.

  • I know this list has been done before, but here’s mine:
    – Trump launches his campaign with 100% bigoted remarks about Mexicans = Not a problem for the GOP

    – Trump says 100% bigoted things about ALL Muslims, repeatedly throughout the campaign, including banning them from entering the US = Still not a problem for the GOP

    – Trump attacks a federal judge for his ethnicity = Not a problem.

    – Trump uses childish insults and compulsive lies throughout his entire campaign to destroy his primary opponents = Still not a problem

    – Trump also says incredibly sexist and misogynistic things about women, both before and during the campaign = Still not a problem

    – Trump insults a Gold Star family and suggest they’re terrorists = Not a problem.

    – Trump says he wants to imprison people without charges and torture them = Still not a problem

    – Trump says he wants to use nuclear weapons and wishes everybody else did = Still not a problem

    – Trump invites Russia to cyber-attack the U.S. and says he admires nearly all of the world’s most brutal dictators because they “get things done” = Still not a problem

    – Trump continues basically just to lie all the goddamned time = Still not a problem

    – Trump encourages violence at his rallies and welcomes white supremacists into his campaign = GOP a teeny bit nervous, but it’s not enough of a problem to do anything about

    – Trump does almost nothing to raise money for the party = GOP a bit more nervous, but that is all; like an enabling spouse, they try to do more themselves to make up for the lack

    – Trump keeps making it totally clear he has NO policies or ideas at all, but keeps lying to say he does = GOP less nervous because they think THEY will get to implement their stuff without fear of Donald interfering

    – Trump absolutely blows the 1st debate = GOP kinda scared, but still tell everyone the problem can be fixed with more debate prep…which Trump has already said unequivocally he will not do

    – Trump revealed during that first debate of being a sexist, objectifying pig towards one of his Miss Universe winners = Still okay.

7 October 2016, a video/audio tape of Trump saying he sexually assaults women by kissing without permission and grabbing their genitals. He also brags about trying to sleep with a married woman, just months after he himself re-married for the 3rd time. Thing is, this shit only repeats the kind of sexist, rapey shit Donald’s been saying his entire goddamned adult life!

But he said the word ‘grab her by the pussy’ — and it’s not the action represented by those words, but the words themselves that undo him with the Republican Party.

It is shameful beyond belief that despite all of the horrible things Trump is on record saying AND doing, that this is the straw which broke the camel’s back, when any one of the dozens of millstones he threw on top of it over the last summer, the last 50+ years really, ought to have done it. I just hope the Republicans are forced to deal with every single drop of the Karma they just bought for themselves.

    • Sam_Handwich

i’ve posted those same sentiments a few times

major difference seems to be sexual violence

Sexual ASSAULT against hot white women.

      • marshlc

Nah, it’s not the sexual violence – they’ve been doing that for years (remember forced vaginal ultrasounds?) No, it’s just the potty mouth. If he hadn’t used those words, this would already be blowing over.

    • bkmn

I hope lots of women all over the country come forward and sue him for SEXUAL ASSAULT, which is what he bragged about on that recording. Hell, some of the women assaulted could be daughters of some of the people that support him.

      • SoCalGal20

Lisa Bloom, Ms. Harth’s attorney (she’s the one who sued Donald for sexual harrassment when he groped her and made moves on her when she and her husband werecin meetings with Trump regarding a business deal), said on MSNBC this morning that more women have come to her since Ms. Harth’s story came out but none of them want to be identified at this time.

    • Sam_Handwich

      Mr Garland, i hope.

He has been treated like dirt.

He might be a good choice simply because the Rethugs will filibuster anyone they consider too progressive. If the Rethugs still control the Senate, she may not be able to get anyone thru.

OT but does anyone know anything bout the Ross/Burr senate race in NC?

    • Sam_Handwich

it’s been very close polling-wise for last 6 weeks

      • Lazycrockett

What are the candidates like, cause I was just looking at the senate race and I haven’t heard a peep bout either of them.

        • Sam_Handwich

burr is the GOP incumbent …. typical asshole

ross was a state Rep for a decade.

bottom line in NC is how many pissed off dems turn out for the Gov and Prez races

          • Bruno

The only good thing Burr ever did was vote to repeal DADT.

          • Sam_Handwich

did he?? wow, i didn’t know that.

          • Ninja0980

Yes but he is still a dick overall.

    • Ninja0980

Polls are all over the place but it’s obvious Burr is in trouble and his statement on Trump where he has to wait and see isn’t going to help him.
Bottom line, if our base turns out to vote, he’s toast along with McCrory.

    Read this online. Brilliant:

“Trump supporters believe all the lies about Hillary, and none of the truths about Trump.”

    • Ninja0980

Sad to say, so do many of the far left folks who have been cheering on WikiLeaks, Trump etc.
This year has made me sad in more ways then one.

      • ultragreen

People on the left have NOT been cheering on Trump! Your delusional.

        • RainbowPhoenix

Plenty have, even if indirectly by claiming that they’ll be staying home or voting third-party.

          • ultragreen

            That’s not supporting Trump.

          • RainbowPhoenix

For all intents and purposes, it is.

          • petewestcentral

This year I was stomped by Democrats and then by third-party or stay-homes. I didn’t get around to duking it out with Republicans. At this point, the president is Clinton or Trump…

  • djcoastermark

All kidding aside, and don’t we all love this. I believe this will go down in the history books as a major event in the history of the USA.

    • It will. No doubt whatsoever. There are defining moments where things are often labeled as “before X” and “after X.”

9/11 was the most recent one. Watergate was also. So was WW2. And the Civil War. Mind, these were events of different magnitudes, but still, they were very important in terms of sea-changes.

Before and after Trump will be another.

      • Helen Damnation™

I think there will be before and after #pussygate.

As far as #CarpePussy goes – Wait! There’s more! is likely.
I don’t think #CarpeFelis will be the last scandal for the Deplorables this October.
For all the GOP whining about “Clinton Enemy Lists” you would think they would be expecting something YUGE.
30 years of taking crap makes you tough and know how to do in lesser politicians.

      • Ross

        I agree.

History will detail political history as Before and after Trump.

    • ultragreen

I can’t recall any previous election where the national committee of the Republicans or Democrats denounced their presidential candidate and suspended all support of the candidate’s campaign.

      • Helen Damnation™

The RNC did suspend additional money to Bob Dole once they determined he couldn’t win. Not a denouncement, though.

    • bkmn

I have zero faith that the GOP will learn from this though. They have been feeding into this for so long they no longer know any other way.

      • djcoastermark

In the short term they won’t. But history will .

      • Cuberly

Well actually the GOP for the first time is losing educated men and women. And yeah, I find that odd. But apparently this is a new thing compared to prior elections.

        • UrsusArctos

It’s the logical end point for Nixon’s “Southern Strategy” & Lee Atwater’s play book. Both were:
          1. Appeal to the worst racists in the South (and elsewhere).
          2. Act like you’re not doing that.
          3. Profit.
Once they got to step 3, they could stop step 2 and cozy up with the alt-right/white supremacists who have come out of the woodwork. Trading educated people for the least informed has worked for them up to now.
Unfortunately, chickens are home to roost. Bigly. YUGELY.

Well since Portman is running as the democrat this time around he has to give something to his gop base.

      • Ninja0980

Yup.. too bad Ohio has a dearth of Democrats outside Tim Ryan who could have run.

    • MB

It’s still a defacto vote FOR Hillary.
Rethuglicans/conservatives aren’t very good at math.

    • It’s doubly sad that Portman apparently does not understand how our electoral system works.

Pence is already candidate for VP, therefore ineligible to run also for Prez at the same time.

      Now if Mikey quits…

But in any case, fuck him with a prickly pear anyway for not showing real courage to vote for the ONLY qualified candidate on any of the party ballots.

Something I’ve been wanting to say all day …

Donald, they may have “let” you, because you’re a star. They let you, but they didn’t want you. Obviously I can’t speak for every woman in your life, and certainly not for your financial and social peers, but for those young women who were your employees, or the employees of friends of yours …. a lot of ’em weren’t thinking “Ooh, I want him because he is so rich and famous”, no, they were thinking “I really need this job”. And a lot of the others were thinking “I wonder how much I can take this stupid fat fuck for”.

I wonder if you’ve ever seen real desire on a woman’s face, Donald.

  • bkmn

Let’s see how the LDS-oriented Deseret News is responding.

“What oozes from this audio is evil. We hear a married man give smooth, smug and self-congratulatory permission to his intense impulses, allowing them to outweigh the most modest sense of decency, fidelity and commitment. And although it speaks volumes about sexual morality, it goes to the heart of all ethical behavior. Trump’s banter belies a willingness to use and discard other human beings at will. That characteristic is the essence of a despot.”

    http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865664336/In-our-opinion-Donald-Trump-should-resign-his-candidacy.html

    • Bruno

      Make an endorsement then, Deseret.

          • TampaDink

I have never been good at math….which has saved me from becoming tired from thinking about it. ;-D

    • houstonray

      That was great!!!

    • Talisman

I expected SNL to be more….vicious toward Trump. So far, it’s relatively sane.

      • DaddyRay

        Weekend Update should be good

        • johncAtl

it should. And I loved when Lin-Manuel Miranda stopped next to Trump’s picture with “this piece of…..”

        • Talisman

          Which locker room? Penn State?

  • RainbowPhoenix

Is it just me, or are more and more media outlets moving past the “Trump was vulgar about women” narrative and talking about the fact that Trump was bragging about committing sexual assault.

    • TampaDink

Hard to say, the only media outlet that I’ve listened to all day is this here interwebz thingy.

    • Lazycrockett

MSNBC went there around 6ish this evening. We shall see if they continue in that vein or not.

  • Lazycrockett

There is no reason to portray Ms KellyAnne in a positive light. She is human garbage.

    • safari

Now, now. Defense lawyers, like spokesvacuums, perform a job that’s often thankless.

  • david fairfield

Dear Ms. Palin, Enclosed please find a full length mirror which will help you to see exactly what abhorrent and offensive looks like. Congratulations!

    • worstcultever

Thank you for your letter to Gov. Palin. She is currently passed out on Boone’s Farm but shares your desire for our country to be great again! Let’s lock and load! – Sincerely, Tahd, Trig, Tripp, Track, Bristle, and the other one with two syllables

      • johncAtl

Do they still make Boone’s Farm or Annie Green Springs? Those are some of my earliest memories of vomiting.

no idea – just seemed like the most dumbass alcohol thing I could think of with the same brain cell as “Sarah Palin”

          • johncAtl

190 proof should be called DOA.

        • Talisman

          Per Wikipedia:

Boone’s Farm was formerly a brand of apple wine produced by the E & J Gallo Winery. Now, flavors are malt-based instead of wine-based due to changes in tax laws. The brand is popular on college campuses due to its low price.[21] Boone’s farm beverages, served in 750 ml bottles are often located in the cold box area of convenience stores across the United States. In some U.S. states, such as Utah, some Boone’s Farm products are labeled as malt beverages and not as flavored apple/citrus wine products, as state liquor laws prohibit the sale of wine in grocery and convenience stores.

      • david fairfield

        She’ll need DiGel.

  • safari

Does this mean it’s okay to grab Sarah by her kitten? [/s of course not, but, we’re in an “not politically correct” electorate these days. Such questions need to be asked.]

  • So, this is from a rather apt DailyKos article from a ways back:

    https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/1ce39e55a11b66c0593c26d6a70df1f2484cca9439b8855fc6f7ca8585a95275.png

Trump Depression: Donald Trump maintaining high unfavorable ratings among the public. Pundits mourning state of political climate, blaming Trump on Democrats.

Trump Storm: Donald Trump polling worse than generic Republican. Slight chance of depressed Republican turnout.

Category I Trumpocalypse: Trump campaign neglecting to fund adequate ground game or advertising campaign. Increased likelihood of downballot Republican losses.

Category II Trumpocalypse: Evidence of increased ticket-splitting among typically Republican likely voters, who either skip the presidential line, or vote for somebody else, but remain loyal to the Republican party downballot. Record high turnout for Democratic demographics, with record low support for Trump.

Category III Trumpocalypse: Evidence of depressed Republican turnout. Registered voter poll models more favorable to Trump than likely voter models. Downballot Republican candidates start to pull away from Trump campaign. Downballot races with high exposure to key demographics shift toward Democrats in the race ratings.

Category IV Trumpocalypse: Evidence that downballot Republican candidates are being effectively linked to sinking Trump campaign, with similar poll numbers. Typically Republican voters less enthusiastic about election than Democrats and increasingly likely to not vote. Institutional support of the Trump campaign dries up.

Trumpageddon: The cat is in the dryer. Most elected Republicans withdraw Trump endorsements, but to little avail. A significant portion of typically Republican voters are still highly motivated to vote—for Democrats, up and down the ballot. Republicans likely to lose Senate and House. All Senate and House races shift one or more categories toward Democrats in the race ratings.

Trumperdämmerung: You don’t even want to know. (ed. Let’s just say that going forward, the GOP would effectively be no more…and with Trumpites threatening to leave, this is not an impossibility.)

Warning: Trumpocalypse storms can get stuck in an ever-escalating ego feedback loop, wherein negative Trump actions produce negative public reactions, resulting in additional ego-protective negative Trump actions. Trumpocalypse storms can strengthen an entire level in this manner within less than 48 hours

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/08/23/1562667/-Trump-Destroyer-of-Parties

I have been informed we are already officially at a Catagory IV Trumpocalypse, with the initial criteria for Trumpageddon already beginning to meet its first criteria, that is, most Republicans withdrawing endorsements.

  • kevin vincent

anyone else worried about what Trump will pull at the debates?

    • safari

Thank gods there’s a lectern between his member and the audience.

    • TampaDink

Only a little bit scared….that he might whip out his pencil dick.

    • DaddyRay

He could end up going all final year Obama and just not caring any more – that would be interesting

    • Stubenville

Pretty sure he’ll aim low and Hillary will give him ample rope to hang himself.

      • kevin vincent

Think he could bring something on Bill?

        • Stubenville

Something substantiated? No. Remember that the Republicans have been digging for months to find new dirt.

          • kevin vincent

            but he knows Bill

          • Stubenville

But would he have witnesses, audio or video? And the timing is suspect, so anything Trump asserts will be questioned.

          • kevin vincent

            Trumpers won’t care

          • Lazycrockett

Trumpers dont matter. They aren’t going to change their addled mind. Its the educated white men and women that are up for grabs and at this moment they are leaning towards Hillary. Hillary just has to come off as intelligent, thoughtful, wonky and sincere and she will be fine. Drumpf can go nuclear over Bill’s shit, but that ain’t gonna win him any points and it will favor Hillary. Honestly if he listens to Rudy and Christie’s who’s been whispering in his ear to go down that path he and the GOP will lose everything. The GOP knows this and is rushing to distance themselves as quickly as possible.10:35 Sunday Night the Drumpf Campaign and the GOP will be in free fall.

          • Bruno

They already are in free fall. The debate seems like it’s not going to move the needle much unless something crazy happens. But tRump is crazy so it might.

          • TampaDink

            You misspelled decades. 😉

        • Bad Tom

          After this Drumpf tape reveal?
He would be stupid to bring it up.

Which means he will, and Hillary will mop the floor with him.
          Again.

          • Ninja0980

If he mentions Paula Jones, all she has to do is mention the fact he is on record saying ugly she was and that Bill could do better.

    • Lazycrockett

Hillary will take Michelle’s advice: When they go low, we go high.

      • kevin vincent

The fact Trumpers are so unhinged scares me plus I wonder if the email thing will get attention the Trumpers are hounding about it

    • houstonray

I’m kinda more worried about how Hillary reacts to what he does. That’s going to be the story of the day on Monday…she baited him beautifully and he took it every time. I know he’s going to do it to her and probably be really nasty. She needs to stay the high road without coming off as disconnected or indifferent. Sadly I think the media wants the story to be how SHE reacts to him, not what he says to her.

      • kevin vincent

Worried on just what he will do

      • Ross

It is a town hall format.

I don’t think Hillary and Donnie will be on stage at the same time.

        Am I right?

        • johncAtl

I think they are both on stage at the same time. Town Hall means the questions come from the audience (I think).

          • Ross

            Ahh, thank you.

      • TampaDink

He might whip out a gun & pistol whip her.
Or she might tell him that being delusional, a pathological liar & pussy whipped is no way to go through life.

      • Lazycrockett

She has been attacked over Bill’s shit for decades, she has been prepped for any scenario. She’s ready, she’s able and she will be fine. Remember this Bitch took on Benghazi for 11 hours. She will shine.

      • Ross

I am highly confident that Hillary will, again, be brilliant.

She has consulted with psychiatrists about how best to poke fragile Donnie.

And she has decades of experience in dealing with shit thrown at her.

She is smart, too. Scary smart.

        I am excited!

        • TampaDink

As far as I know, Sec. Clinton has never had anyone fling actual human feces at her live on television….so she should prepare for how to react to that.

          • JesterRedPanda

I actually have a small bit of money riding on trump outright calling her a bitch on national television. You know, just to cement that repub base 😛

          • TampaDink

I’m imagining him telling his team “calling her a bitch is too tame…..I’m gonna go with c*nt. I need to win over these undecideds”

  • Lazycrockett

I would venture to say that Lin was quite involved with the writing in tonight’s show.

I would venture to say that he owns Broadway now.

Palin has a lot of company in this.
A slim majority of Republican members of The POLITICO Caucus — a panel of activists, strategists and operatives in 11 battleground states — said they don’t think news reports of the Trump tape are a “knockout blow” for the GOP ticket.

Good. Then they won’t be bothered when more dirt is revealed. There are damning tapes from the board room scenes of “The Apprentice” that someone is bound to leak in coming days/weeks.

    • Bad Tom

What it does do is immunize Hillary from any crap about Bill.

  • DaddyRay

It would be refreshing if SNL kept up the better written sketches and quality guest star appearances

    • TampaDink

Alec, Jimmy & Tina were a refreshing addition.

      • johncAtl

You just ruined it for Becca.

But somehow I knew Tina would should up this weekend.

        • DaddyRay

I didn’t know Tina Turner was still alive

          • TampaDink

Alive (and presumably well) living in Zurich Switzerland.

          • DaddyRay

Yeah well her name did come up in the Panama Papers story

        • TampaDink

I wonder if, by next week, there will be call for her to reprise her role as Sarah whatshername?

          • johncAtl

            It has to happen soon.

          • TampaDink

If Pence drops out (and I think that he might) she will be back in the news….begging for another shot. That would require the role to return to SNL.

          • johncAtl

I can’t remember. Does the ballot include the name of the VP, or does it just list the candidate for president?

          • TampaDink

I seem to recall that both names appear but there is only opportunity to select them as a team.

        • That’s okay, I stepped away a couple hours ago to watch so didn’t see any more spoilers. It was an uneven but occasionally good show.

LOVED the cold open and the Conway bit. Weekend Update was unusually good after last week’s really awful bit (Jimmy seemed drunk though). And I’d never heard or their musical guest before but they were really good.

    • johncAtl

It might help if they didn’t have the same executive producer now that they had when I was in high school.

    • johncAtl

And a beautiful family they are.

      • Cuberly

        Yep. No argument there.

      • Ross

        Amen!

    • DaddyRay

I love that he is wrapping up his 8 years with such a high approval rating which must really be pissing off the alt-right racists

      • johncAtl

I think the prospect (i.e., fear) of Trump being the next president is helping boost that rating. Even Republicans realize what a train wreck we could be head toward.

      • Cuberly

People have seen the alternative and are thinking, yeah, maybe it’s not that bad.

His current approval ratings give me a degree of hope actually.

        • DaddyRay

Interesting that it went up after Obama figured out that he was never going to please the Right and should just stop trying

          • Cuberly

The horrifying aspect of that realization is that the GOP thought their power mattered more. And they wreaked havoc in their own racist way.

          • DaddyRay

It fed right into the creation of the Tea Party which came back to bite them as they took over the GOP

          • Cuberly

            Very true.

Which is why Hillz getting into office would be a ball kick to the white male entitlement franchise.

It’s going to get very very ugly when she gets into office. And we’ll enter yet another transformational administration.

Dragging the neanderthals along the way.

    • Ninja0980

Indeed, the way they have been treated was disgraceful, every which way you look at it.

      • OdieDenCO

ah, but the object lesson is priceless. the Obama’s grace under fire of some of the most hateful vitriol. would that the lesson, once demonstrated is learned.

      • Cuberly

The most under reported administration in history.

FLOTUS’ causes are reported as “controversial”. We all know the rest.

The MSM will and should be shamed for under-reporting the efforts contained within the Obama administration.

    • DaddyRay

I got a chuckle out of the Rachel Maddow story on Michelle Obama’s vegetable garden being made permanent and privately funded. The best part was that she planted Collard Greens and they will be sprouting in the spring next year (just in case Trump manages to win the presidency)

      • Lazycrockett

Oh Bill is gonna love those.

        • DaddyRay

          Exactly

      • Cuberly

It’s why I said, prospective. Hey GOP match this.

    • Lazycrockett

This will be seen to the next couple of generations as THE First Family.

      • Cuberly

        Agreed.

  • Ninja0980

Looks like Juanita Broderick and Paula Jones and other names are going to be thrown at Hillary tomorrow.
I know she can handle it but you just know the media will love reliving the 90’s.
It’s going to get ugly, real ugly.

    • DaddyRay

I suspect they will try but it will backfire – Hillary stayed by her man and made their marriage last. The only one who should be worried about attacks like that is Bill and Bill can handle himself

      • Lazycrockett

The thing is the white males educated or not loved Bill cheating. They loved him getting some pussy. Newt be damned.

    • DaddyRay

What do you suspect will be the causes Bill will pick up as “First Husband”

      • Same as now. Just look at the Clinton Foundation mission statement and lists of projects. That’s what he does now.

        • ShawnSwagger

Especially with all their work in Haiti. Last I heard, Hurricane Matthew has left at least 800 dead in Haiti and there are fears of a cholera epidemic coming after the destruction.

    • What Trump and his peeps have no fucking clue about is very few alive (and eligible to vote) right now will even remember those names.

There is also zero doubt Hillary is prepared for this — and was even during the 1st debate.

Honestly, I expect the debate to go like this:
      – Clinton tries to play it straight and take the high road
      – Donald immediately goes ballistic and ugly
      – Lots and lots and lots of reaction shots of dismayed and disgusted audience members

      • Ninja0980

That’s how I think it will happen as well.
Don’t get me wrong, I think a lot of what Bill did was sleazy but it wasn’t any worse then the dirty laundry exposed by Larry Flynt of some of the Republican men and women who were trying to take Bill down while screaming about family values.

        • Lazycrockett

Let’s just hold back and remember that besides Monica pretty much ever other woman claiming shit never had a case.

          • Ninja0980

Yup and as many of us have pointed out, Broderick stated under oath twice Bill didn’t rape her and now that the slug Roger Stone is claiming that he did, she has no credibility at all, not that she ever did.

        • TallBearNC

Bill has nothing to do with all this. He’s not running. Hillary is. She didn’t sleep with Monica. As far as sex scandles go, she’s clean – that we know of. It really doesn’t matter what Bill did. He slept with a girl. He didn’t sexually assault her. No crime there. Breaking of marriage vows but no crime. Trump has been sued multiple time for sexual harassment. The dude is a tool. He can’t win now.

        • Absolutely. What Bill did was incredibly sleazy and the one thing I still have not entirely forgiven him for was the lying about the affairs in the first place to his wife, and thus putting Hillary in the position of unknowingly lying on his behalf and defending him.

But being fooled by believing someone you love who is lying to you isn’t a character flaw. And trust is praiseworthy, even when that trust is misplaced.

But the most important thing Hillary can mention is something along the lines of, “You keep bringing up my husband’s mistakes. Which he has apologized for — to the American people and to me. I defended him then because he wasn’t truthful to me and I didn’t know. That was 20 years ago, and I have moved on.

I’m the one running for President, not my husband, and I have never cheated on anyone. EVER. You, on the other hand, have spent your entire lifetime victimizing women, cheating on your wives and bragging about your sexual conquests — and you have never repented, not even now. You have never apologized for anything without immediately making it about how YOU were wronged. I have had enough, as has this country. We need a President, not a phony self-proclaimed billionaire and failed businessman who can’t keep his grabby hands to himself. Donald, if you had any shame or decency, you never would have run in the first place and I would be facing an honorable Republican opponent like John Kasich or Mitt Romney or Jeb Bush*. Instead, we have you. But luckily, not for long.”

(* = I threw those names in there for effect and as a wedge, not as an endorsement by any means)

          • Ninja0980

You should send this to Robby Mook or someone.
She says this and it’s goodbye Donnie.

          • I would… but having witnessed the ridiculous competence of the Clinton campaign, I may only be recognized afterwards as a bit of a prophet for predicting the broad outline of what Clinton would actually say.

          • Maggie 4NoH8

It seems to me that Bill Clinton is a horn-dog, and many men can relate to that (I suppose many women as well), but he never displayed the white privilege Donald literally oozes, and he isn’t a complete and total ass to women. Yes, they are both in the “wrong”, but Trump is fundamentally WRONG.

  • TallBearNC

    Commit her. She’s just crazy.

    • William

Commit her entire family, they can get a group rate.

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

OT: skimmed through a few articles about the Wikileaks dump of e-mails. I’m not hearing there’s anything illegal in the e-mails. I disagree strongly with her on her approach to the banks and Wall Street though, especially after Wells Fargo pooped on its own damn customers.

    • William

How many of those e-mails have been “edited” by Russian operatives?

    • The Internet and news media have been pre-empted for wall-to-wall coverage of “Shit Donald Trump Has Said and Never Actually Apologized For.” Thanks for tuning in.

Not kidding. Could be video now of Clinton admitting the Whitewater Scandal was really a real thing (it never was) and all people would be talking about is exactly how fucked Trump and the GOP are, except not in the fun way.

      • kevin vincent

ANY chance that Assange leaks more before the debate?

        • Skeptical_Inquirer

Well, what he’s pumped out about her is pretty much nothing burger. So, I’m not seeing how much effect more of the same will do. Also, the fact that he openly favors Trump isn’t exactly doing wonders for his credibility.

          • kevin vincent

True but he could have something actually damaging

          • No, because if there was, it would already have been leaked MONTHS AGO.

          • kevin vincent

Yeah but now will be perfect timing especially after pussygate

          • Relax. There ISN’T. The ‘October Surprise’ was, ta-da, shit Donald Trump is clearly on tape saying which in fact was actually reported by the NY Times months ago. Only now we have Donald confirming it himself.

Or are you ham-handedly concern-trolling us? Trust me, we don’t fall for shit like that, like the GOPers do…such as when they thought Donald would be an ah-MAZE-ah-BALLS candidate for their party.

The GOPers are in a complete panic over what Trumpy did. Last election funding was pulled from their Prez candidate was ’96 — and they didn’t even condemn Dole, they just accepted he couldn’t win. Here, the GOP might genuinely fracture into two pieces, each representing roughly 20% of the American voting electorate. The Trumpite mouth-breather brown-shirt contingent, and the GOPer establishment which thought it could get away with feeding the Gremlins just a little chicken after midnight.

Becca I’ve commented here for years I am not concern trolling

          • Sorry, I’m a tad tipsy and sensitive to having my now 48 hour mellow being harshed. I apologize.

          • kevin vincent

            Just overly cautious and cynical

          • That is totally understandable. I spent weeks being unable to sleep a full night through due to sheer existential dread.

You have no idea the sheer relief I felt on Friday when the news broke, and broke and broke. I’m not kidding, the fact the GOPer leaders are now repudiating Trump is huge. There are now, right now, pundits saying Clinton might take Texas.

The first time I typed “Trump may well have put the House in play” it was wishful thinking. 2 days later, it’s not — it’s a real possibility.

The GOP has, in the last day, cut off all the Trump-related spending. That is huge, too. He’s cooked, done. Even better, Trump threatens to take his supporters — about 20% of the American voters — with him. This means the Dems have a chance they haven’t had since the Great Depression to reshape our government.

There will be hundreds of books and theses written about this election. But because the GOP nominated the monster named Trump, they will be the discredited soon-to-be minority party. It’ll take them generations to recover from this, if at all.

Why would they not of released damaging information on his pointless anniversary announcement!?

Wikileaks has nothing that those who are not already going to waste their vote will find damaging.

        • Leaks, probably. Anything meaningful? Assange hitched his wagon to the wrong pussy-grabber.

Understandable though, given he has serious boundary issues himself where women are concerned, according to Swedish authorities.

          • kevin vincent

            Now somewhat dreading tomorrow

          • I’m not. I was, but I’m not anymore. There’s zero chance Clinton isn’t prepared for Donald to behave like a monster — because she likely already was in Debate #1.

    “Both ‘boys’ “?
Oh, for Christ’s sake. One “boy” was 59 years old.
    And no, he didn’t apologize.

See soccer star Robbie Rogers teaching his son Caleb to kick at the link. He and his boyfriend, Greg Berlanti, the creator of ‘The Flash’, welcomed Caleb into their family earlier this year. Much happiness to them all!

That’s really adorable and I really needed to see something good this morning. Thank you for sharing that 😀

  • Sam_Handwich

Looks like KellyAnne Conway bagged on the talking head shows this morning (with the possible exception of Fox) while Rudy Ghouliani’s name has popped up on three of the morning show schedules. What could possibly go wrong?

  • Tom (Wpg)

She definitely shares in the thankfully demise of the Republican party,as it has become.

  • Queequeg

Maybe because the nicest complement anyone could pay to her daughter, Bristol, is to call her a nice “piece of ass”.

  • Michael Hampton

Fitting that the woman who raised a wife beater would defend his sexual assault jokes.

This comes as no surprise. As suspected, Trump bought her some furniture.
