John Oliver Rips Hannity Over Online Polls [VIDEO]

Via Mediaite:

One of the subjects of Oliver’s takedown was Trump’s good pal Sean Hannity, who at this point is operating less like a TV show host and more like a BFF of Trump’s who happens to be on TV. Hannity this week propelled the myth of the user-generated polls — which allegedly indicate that Trump “won” last Monday’s debate — enraging Oliver.

“Everyone’s gonna say, ‘Hannity they’re not scientific.’ I hear what you’re saying,” Hannity admitted to Newt Gingrich last week.

“Do you though? Do you?” asked the Last Week Tonight host incredulously. “I’m not sure you do. In fact, I’m not even sure you hear what your own company is saying.” Oliver revealed that even Fox News had to issue its own point of clarification to its employees, citing the fact that these “polls… do not meet our editorial standards.”

It was a point of interest for Oliver, who was under the impression that the only Fox News editorial standards up until that point were “Women should be 8s and above” and “Try and not use the N-word.”

At this point, I thik we all know about the special relationship between Hannity & Trump. (I fast-forwarded it to the relevant point in the video but if you haven’t seen the whole thing yet, y’all need to!)

There should be a tweet from Trump any second now reminding us that nobody reads the New Yorker any more and that they are all a bunch of losers. Sad.

      • Frostbite

And they are going out of business. Someone will buy them, cheap.

      • popebuck1

I’m sure Trump prefers the years when they were publishing Thurber and S.J. Perelman. The sophistication just isn’t there anymore. Sad!

      The bulge is too big.

Listening to anything trump related hurts my brain

    • Rex

      I could not agree more.
I was just thinking that I don’t know how much more I can take.
This election season can’t end soon enough.

  • Paula

Sorry Sean, you are never going to be the White House Press Secretary or Donnie’s personal spokesdouche.

    • Rex

I hate to disagree, Paula, but I think he’s already a spokesdouche.

    • kareemachan

Why does he always look so petulant? Whiny? Fretful, grouchy, caviling, mean, peevish, sour, sulky, and uptight?

      • Uncle Mark

Because if Sean was smiling, it would imply that all is right with the world, flying in opposition to his tired rhetoric of being among the “abused victims” of the liberals, minorities and “their” gov’t. Most of us would be quite happy to have amassed the millions he as done with obviously little work or intelligence…tho’ many of us would draw the line at selling our souls

The Basket of Deplorables has to always maintain that everything is going to Hell in a Handbasket.

          Is that irony?

          “Be afraid. Be VERY afraid!”

Because he is petulant, whiny, fretful, grouchy, caviling, mean, peevish, sour, sulky, and uptight.

It’s like all the “freep this poll” links JMG used to post and that I’d happily go vote on, knowing full well that we were just ginning up the numbers the way we wanted to see them. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

    • Chucktech

I almost always vote in those polls that need “freeping,” but hey, the poll is open to me as much as it is to their choir members. And while it’s possible, if you want to open other browsers or use other computers or get all techy and use VPN’s or other computer sleights of hand to vote more than once, I only vote once.

      • Bj Lincoln

I have voted more than once on occasion. For the most part, the polls will not allow more than 1 vote. I am not all techy nor have the inclination to vote bomb anyone.

    • Dramphooey

I, too, would fly when asked and vote as long as it didn’t involve signing up for anything but it is strictly for laughs because alt-right and paleoconservative misfits seem to attach a great deal of importance to them.

Anyone who actually believes or is influenced by the results of an online poll needs a checkup from the neck up.

    • ChrisMorley

I always voted to discombobulate the heads of RWNJs.

  • Michael Smith

I have had one semester of statistics in my entire life, but it seems I understand it better than most Trump surrogates.

    • You don’t have their agenda. Or their role model.

      New Math.

    • RoFaWh

Anyone have any hard data about Drumpf’s “education”?

Having seen a couple of photos of his mother and her incredibly ridiculous hair style, somehow I suspect that Drumpf didn’t go to a demanding school and didn’t actually receive much genuine schooling.

Had he gone to public school, it would have knocked a lot of the rough edges off his personality. Maybe.

Following John Oliver’s accurate description of Trump as “racist toddler coming out of dental surgery.” …

New York Times columnist Charles Blow unloaded on Donald Trump as an immature and dangerous man who should be too ashamed to show his face in public.

“Donald Trump is a domestic terrorist; only his form of terror doesn’t boil down to blowing things up,” Blow wrote in a column published Monday morning. “He’s the 70-year-old toddler who knows nearly nothing, hurls insults, has simplistic solutions for complex problems and is quick to throw a tantrum. Also, in case you didn’t know it, this toddler is mean to girls and is a bit of a bigot.”

    • Lazycrockett

      “bit of”?????

    • david fairfield

I disagree with most of this. Trump does want to blow things up as evidenced by his repeatedly asking ss why we don’t use the nukes, and by saying that all he would need is a gesture from an Iranian boat and he would blow them out of the water. Also I haven’t heard a solution to anything, let alone a simplistic solution.

  • Texndoc

My favorite was when it was reported that it was the most watched debate in history and who gloated and took credit for it. The loser. Haha the polls reflect that people watched, loser.

  • NMNative

    Fox has “editorial standards”
That has to be the funniest thing I’ve read all morning.

  • IamM

Trump supporters favor Trump, that’s the kind of stunning insight Sean Hannity is paid for.

  • RealityBass

Just imagine how bad something would have to fail to meet the journalistic standards of Fox News.

  • CityWOOF

    Hey, what’s wrong with goatees??

    • MisterShoebox

Goatees make me go “Baaaah.” …Because “Goat.” I’m sorry.

Anyway, nothing – but the problem is, Leonard Nimoy wore a goatee so awesomely back during Star Trek that all other goatees pale in comparison.
