NORTH CAROLINA: Gun Group Raffles Off Assault Rifle With Photo Of Hillary Clinton For Target Practice

Courthouse News Service reports:

A North Carolina guns right group is raffling off an AR-15 rifle, 1,000 rounds of ammunition and a portrait of Democrat Hillary Clinton to raise money for its federal political action committee.

“Of course, we won’t tell you what to do with the photo, but when we ran a picture of Hillary on the front of our newsletter, we heard it was very popular at the range,” says the raffle announcement on Grass Roots North Carolina’s website.

The announcement, bearing the headline “The ‘Hillary Clinton Special’ and apparently written by the organization’s treasurer, Grant Gardner, says “We all know that if Hillary Clinton is elected president on November 8, panic buying will ensure that by November 9, there won’t be a gun (or ammunition) available for love of money.”

Money raised from the raffle will go to the group’s political victory fund and be used to make independent expenditures against “anti-gunners” running for office.

The raffle has been sharply criticized by Americans for Responsible Solutions, which was formed by former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, former NASA astronaut Mark Kelly, and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

In a statement, the Brady Campaign said “History shows this kind of violent, graphic rhetoric can and has preceded actual violence. Not long before a gunman opened fire on Gabby Giffords and a crowd of constituents in 2011, Sarah Palin launched a particularly militant campaign encouraging gun advocates to ‘take a stand,’ featuring a map with Giffords’ district in rifle crosshairs.”

It was at a North Carolina rally that Trump made his first “joke” about assassinating Hillary Clinton.grnc

Even though Gabby herself isn’t running anymore, she knows that a candidate whose district is partially rural or semi-rural cannot win if they have a blanket opposition to guns, especially out West.

It’s difficult for people in major coastal metropolitan areas to picture this, but there are still parts of the country where you get no bars on your cellphone, the radio doesn’t pick up any signal and if you call 911 it might take them 4 hours to get there.

Bang a set of frying pans together, that noise makes then run. it actually works, because I had the misfortune to have been camping in Shenandoah Valley one weekend, and it worked. “Twas, not the most relaxing evening. But by luck I had “heard” that answer on a early 70’s TV show the evening before we left. Maybe “Truth of Consequences (?)” some panelist show.
Or maybe there should be a more up to date noise maker that works………..Snucks definitely but who wants to deal with the smell, and who carries galleons of tomato juice at 3 AM to wash the smell away.

          • NancyP

That 80 db safety whistle that’s clipped to your pack? Use it! Have your bear spray handy. Lock your trash cans. Use bear kegs when camping,

          • Nowhereman

We have black bears in my neck of the woods. I’ve had a lot of close calls with them and no frying pan handy. I have scared them away by making myself as big and loud as possible (I’m not big at all) and yelling at them to “Git! Go on! Git” over and over. I’ve been as close as 20 feet to one, all by myself. I guess I’m more crazy than brave, but they are usually more afraid of us than we are of them. The problem is the folks who put their garbage out before pick up day, and the freaking tourists who just have to get as close as they can to the cubs to get a picture. I was taught as a child that when you see a cub, momma bear is not far away and to move away from them as calmly and quickly as possible.

        • NancyP

I get it. I live in the city but hike and camp in the country. Plus, there are parts of the country where people hunt for the cooking pot. Rural areas are getting poorer, and it may well be worth the effort to bag a deer or two each year to fill the freezer. There’s no contradiction between proper gun licensure, safety training, and storage, and legitimate gun use as a tool or recreational device (there are a lot of recreational hunters out there, they help pay for our state conservation and parks system). It’s the suburban gun fetish guys who are the problem.

      • another_steve

Who better than the victim of gun violence to understand the benefit/need of peaceful non-violent people to protect themselves. Gun ownership is one way to protect yourself.

The key is to permit gun ownership only for peaceful non-violent people.

        That’s the bitch.

        That’s the challenge.

      • Nowhereman

It’s not an either or subject. There’s a place between guns guns and more guns EVERYWHERE! and no guns anywhere. I don’t care for guns and won’t have one in the house, but I have no problem with people owning a handgun or rifle for self defense or hunting–AFTER they pass a background check and get mandatory safety training and of curse register the firearm. I’d like to see them have to purchase liability insurnance for each firearm as well. I do have a problem with private citizens being able to buy military assault-style weapons and ammo that will pierce armor not to mention cut a toddler in half. If they want to use military style weapons, then they can join the military.

    • Joe in PA

Sen Toomey (R) has been running ads claiming her endorsement. Wot? It has to do with her endorsement of his vote on assault weapons…not for him. She has tried to get the ad taken down…but I saw it yesterday. Sad!

Thanks for that. I hear it from the gun nuts I’m related to-“I need these guns to protect me from the government” but have NO response when I ask them how their little militia of deplorables would do against weapons they can’t see that could fry them in their homes. Morons.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

And they continually vote to beef up the military and give them lots of practice.

      • Oscarlating Wildely

I love that arguments from the ammosexuals. By the way, how did things go at Waco when they tried that shit? And if you want to be nasty, tell me how things were going in 1985 on Osage Avenue in Philadelphia. The government doesn’t fuck round with petty guns.

      • Nowhereman

It’s mind boggling. Critical thinkers they are not. Not big on planning, either. Case in point–the Dildo Militia that set out to take over the wildlife refuge in Oregon didn’t even think to pack any snacks or French vanilla creamer, or extra tightie-whities. They had a lot of guns and ammo, though…(Nice to think that most of them will never be able to legally own firearms again.)

    • PickyPecker
    • Todd20036

Not off topic. I noticed in the polls-plus on 538 that Hillary’s chances improved from 54% to 64% post debate, on winning the presidency

      • safari

It dipped very slightly today. Probably just noise, but I’m hoping the bounce keeps up.

    • Nowhereman

I’m enjoying the fact that most of the Dildo Militia and a lot of the Bundyville rebolutionaries are all sitting in their prison cells waiting for their trials. No hats, no guns, and maybe worst of all, no French Vanilla creamer! Ryan Bundy is representing himself and he’s already pissed off the judge. Should be fun. I think his main case is that he will argue that the judge is not the boss of him because there’s a fringe on the flag in the court room. Or now fringe. Or something something MARITIME LAW~

  • SunsetGay

Janet Napolitano warned us about these fuckers in 2009. Nobody took her seriously and the rightwing media shut her down. Nevertheless, the terrorist threat from these 2A nihilists remains more dangerous than ever before.

And he actually opened up more federal land to allowing guns.

Hopefully the Secret Service has pulled its collective head out of its collective ass. They had far too many blunders during Obama’s two terms and that needs to stop now.

        • AJ Drew

And yet… c’mon, we all feared what might happen with Obama becoming POTUS, but it didn’t… twice (8 years.) Hey, to the point that the Secret Service *could* fook around. I’m not ok with the fooking around, but the fact they even could do that and Obama and family remained safe… I thank them.

          • bkmn

I appreciate the job they have done but they took too many risks. All it takes is one nutjob to get through. That is their job, not to party with hookers in foreign countries, not to let potential attackers in the White House more than once. As far as I am concerned they most likely lucked out.

      • bmedle

Of course, the Secret Service needs to, first and foremost, protect her from someone else that has Secret Service protection.

At least they know where to find him, I guess.

        • Nowhereman

I wonder how they felt about Trump’s comment to remove Hillary’s Secret Service protection and “see what happens”. To which I would say, “You first, tuff guy!”

      • AJ Drew

True but… something we *now* take for granted is that, omfg, Obama and family have remained safe and here with us for 8 years… remember how we all feared their safety? Thank you Secret Service (though I hate that your initials are SS, but that’s an aside.) Thanks.

        • Grumpy Old Man

I did not watch the debate – I listened to it; his mic was louder than hers. In every instance when they were both speaking, he was louder than her (I kept thinking that they should mute his mic to prevent him from continued bellowing during her responses).

That one line gives us no idea what the issue was but it could have been that his had been louder.

          • NedFlaherty

Over 99% of America heard both candidates perfectly.

Each candidate had only one microphone, and both microphones functioned flawlessly.

The malfunction was actually within the volume level of the audio stream delivered to the speakers inside the auditorium. Allegedly, dЯumpf’s audio stream was fed to those speakers at a slightly lower volume level than Clinton’s audio stream.

Of course, volume levels — whether equal or not — are no explanation for the original question: Why did dЯumpf keep sniffing like an addict?

          • Grumpy Old Man

Very likely – Drumpf’s talking all over Clinton was overbearing – I was barely able to hear her while he was trash-talking her. I guess it was just the annoyance factor. I will watch next time so I can get the full effect.

    • AJ Drew

and yet WORSE is that the “Presidential Debate Commission” *cough* is getting media play that there “was an issue” with DT’s audio.

    • Bj Lincoln

He was complaining about how bad his mic was when someone asked about him sniffing so much. His response was the mic must have been sensitive enough to pick up his breathing! He wants to blame a bad mic for his bad performance. This man can NOT become President.

      • AJ Drew

oh, c’mon, DT says he spent “50 percent of his mental time” focusing on that sniff-sound-inducing mic, so OF COURSE he was unable to mention that *at the time* or give a cogent reply to any question. Hmm.

      • Blake Jordan

Sniffling like a coked out, snot nosed little bitch was the least damaging part of his debate!!!

On another note this reminds me of the last episode of a TV show, Atlanta. You’re using pics of humans, especially racist ones depicting Mexicans? Fine, but don’t you dare use one of a fucking dog! I was laughing my ass off during that scene.

The ever-increasing amount of time prior to a GE is getting ridiculous and is VERY bad for the electorate.

          • safari

The problem is it’d require adjusting the 1st Amendment. This cycle showed the new trend of candidates not announcing officially before they started to campaign, so putting time limits on filing or when to form a presidential committee wouldn’t help much.

          • 2020 GE campaigning begins November 9th 2016.

I think it has something to do with the American character. We like to be entertained (though this show has run a bit long) and we don’t mind sharing our entertainment with the rest of the world. When I turn on the TV each day, the first thing I’m likely to hear and see is, “Guess what Donald Trump did/said today!” It’s sort of like a game show.

Trump has opened the door to every vile and nasty human to come crawling out of their holes. He has encouraged them to speak loud and proud about their hate for anyone different and female. I had never heard so many nasty things said about a President or his family as the Obamas have had to put up with and now this election. The worst offender being the GOP candidate. He is proud of his hate. His supporters are deaf to his bad business dealings and think he is smart for playing people and the government the way he has. He thinks he knows so much yet has no experience and does not prepare for…..anything. The entire globe is scared and confused for us. They can’t believe we allowed this man to get this far into the process and many have already chimed in they will not do business with him if he becomes President. He thinks running a country is so easy that he will waltz in and fix everything in no time. The system is not set up to allow him to do any of the things he claims. He forgets there are checks and balances before decisions are made. He scares me and any rational person on the planet. His supporters will be pissed when he looses. My hope is we can drive all the scum back to their holes after Hillary wins.

    • PickyPecker

My hope is we can drive all the scum back to their holes after Hillary wins.
Now that they feel empowered, I fear it is going to be a long battle to accomplish this.

        • Bj Lincoln

Our votes are the only tool we have to keep them out of office. All elections need to show we have no place for hate and indifference to those who are different or in need.

I really want to believe the electorate will reflect just that come Nov 8th, Bj.

          • Nowhereman

True that. I’m in Alaska, and we have a proposition on the ballot that will make voter registration automatic at the age of 18. It will be tied to our Permanent Fund Dividend application, which every Alaskan pretty much applies for. I hope it passes. We should also go to a mail in ballot. It would be a lot easier and cheaper in the Bush.

      • fuzzybits

As long as people breed they’ll always be around. All we can do is shed light on them and point out their hatred.

    • Gianni

Trump is like the living tale of Pandora’s Box. He has proudly opened it and quite proudly demonstrated how much fun it can be to give one’s baser attitudes and feelings free reign. That so many have latched on to the lying; the encouragement and suggestions of violence against opponents; the insults and racial denigration hurled at others; etc is really unnerving and frightening. His supporters literally have loose screws. To willingly ignore all those ‘deplorable’ qualities bespeaks a total lack of thinking and realization of the obvious. So, let’s make him our President say the spineless jokers in the Republican party hierarchy.

Trump supporters live in another reality. I’ve been having a lot of fun trolling over at Brietbart. I haven’t been name calling or saying anything too outrageous. But the names I have been called would make you blush. It has been an eye opener. The people there froth at the mouth. Clearly they believe that trump can do or say anything. They will not even listen to the right wing talking heads that have condemned trump. I had one women who says she was a clinical psychologist and that I needed medical help just because I disagreed with her. Naturally I shot back that her patients must be a total mess and then added just because she had a degree it did not necessarily mean she was smart.

For a good time pick out any headline condemning Trump and copy the URL and then go to any Brietbart story and leave a comment saying you must read this story and then paste the url. They will go for it then sit back and wait for the attacks. Lots of fun.

There are master “phone books” for the internet called DNS servers. They translate names like “joemygod.com” into the equivalent of a phone number for the computer that sites live on. ICANN controlled those master phone books and got to decide what went into them. The problem is that they were very US-focused (and particularly english-speaking) because the internet originated from the US military. There’s been a push to make the management of these “phonebooks” more open to the international community.

You can credit 26 years of endless GOP propaganda, deceptions, fabrications, innuendo, investigations and outright lies as the reason Secretary Clinton is not ahead 30-40 points. The media has gone along with it because it sells advertising space. They share the blame.

        • Ninja0980

We’ll have to see how it all plays out.

There may be some blame on the part of the Clinton campaign. Some blind spot on their part. Some failure to have planned and strategized sufficiently. To have seized the moment.

  • Okay, I’m seeing a resurgence of a thought many of you are no doubt having, including our friend Steve: “Why isn’t Clinton leading by 30-40 points? Given everything Trump is, why is this not so?”

I’ll try to be succinct, but given my usual habit it’s not terribly likely. There are a lot of reasons and I’ll try to call out each one in a bullet point.

    – Free advertising. Trump was treated as both an outsized entertainment figure and a viable candidate from the end of last summer onward by a gullible and ratings-hungry mass media. He received well over $2 billion in free airtime, whereas virtually every other candidate — GOP and Dem — was all but starved for national reporting. This boosted his numbers all by itself.

    – Terrible GOP opposition. Trump was aided by having really shitty primary GOP opponents. In anything like a ‘normal’ campaign cycle, the Democrat would be running against someone like Bush, Rubio, Ryan or Kasich as the GOP nominee. Or some former reasonably cross-the-aisle popular GOP governor, current or former.

    – Less than optimal Dem opponent. Honesty time here: Clinton is not the best candidate the Dems could’ve gone with, given the baggage of 30+ years of right-wing smears dragging her down. Plus, as a woman, there are misogynists out there (conscious and unconscious) who don’t think America’s President should be a woman. Sadly, Sanders would have (in my opinion) been just as flawed albeit in different ways. He has a long history of controversial positions and writings and would have been susceptible to accusations of being a far-left revolutionary radical bent on overthrowing the U.S. gov’t. He wouldn’t have had to deal with Clinton’s favorability problems, not to start with, but on the other hand he didn’t seem to really know how to run a national campaign on a massive scale. In my opinion, the perfect candidate would’ve been another Democratic junior Senator whose history is impeccable and favorability ratings are sky high. You all know her as Elizabeth Warren. I was never 100% comfortable with the obvious weaknesses of both the Dem frontrunners…and O’Malley was almost literally the ‘generic Dem candidate’ who in the usual non-incumbent year polls weaker against the ‘generic GOP candidate’.

    – Tribalism. I’m sorry but it’s true, there are people who will vote for Trump for no other reason than he stole the Chief Stick and is the GOP nominee. This alone probably accounts for about half of his support. These are, for example, the Evangelicals willing to overlook Trump’s obvious hypocrisy and ignorance on religion. As well as cowards like Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio who openly put party and their own ambitions ahead of country.

    – The Deplorables. These are the enthusiastic rally-goers who adore Trump not in spite of but because he’s openly racist, anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, and anti-woman. Some of these have been voting GOP for years, but with stewing resentment their party wasn’t doing what had been dog-whistle promised to them all those decades. Others are the ones who may never have voted before, because the GOP nominees were never deplorable enough for them.

    – Low-information voters. These are the ones who barely know anything about anything, like the ignorant yahoo interviewed by Jordan Klepper (TDS), who thought there should be an investigation as to why Obama wasn’t in the White House on 9/11/2001. They’re also easily manipulated by Trump’s simplistic jingoistic slogans and appear to be blithely ignorant when they’re being blatantly lied to. They’re not even capable of seeing the cognitive disconnect between claiming ‘Trump tells it like it is’ and obvious evidence he lies compulsively and almost continuously about everything.

    – 3rd party candidates. At the moment, Johnson and Stein both are sucking up a few percent, but honestly, when we get to the actual election it wouldn’t surprise me to see them at something like 3% and 1% nationally. Or lower. Lots of people talk about casting a protest vote, but when it comes time to actually cast it, most don’t.

So… add all that up. Free advertising + less-than-stellar opponents + tribalism + deplorables + ignorant voters + foolish 3rd party supporters. That’s how you get a guy who’s still polling in the low 40s nationally. And there’s just not that much room, statistically speaking, for a total landslide these days.

I believe at best, even presuming a complete and total Trump meltdown — which appears to be quite likely — the best we could hope for would be a 20 point win (i.e., 60-40). Just my opinions, please feel free to disagree…

    • Sam_Handwich

there’s also an “anti-establishment” element to this election …. and all the candidates benefit from that, except Clinton, of course

      • AJ Drew

DT *could* have played the “anti-establishment” angle, but he instead went with just being outrageous (his true self?) and continues to do so.

    • AJ Drew

I’ll be more succinct… think about who those polls are polling.

It ends up being those most likely to vote (and for many polls, those with landline phones… eerm, I don’t have one, and I AM in the demographic that “should” but I don’t.)

Still, I get your point. How can DT have such a percentage? Well… I truly, truly believe that if we who do NOT support him vote, it’ll be ok and he’ll slide away as a historical anomaly. His own Party does not support him. Nor do we. Just vote. And if, somehow… nah.

    • DaddyRay

I would add that because there were so many GOP candidates it fractured the GOP Primary vote and made it easier to take all of the oxygen out of the room when the media was giving him all the free air time. I don’t ever remember the media allowing a candidate to phone it in for interviews like they did for Trump. The media is complicit in this fiasco all because of ratings.

    • AJ Drew

There were what, 17 potential GOP nominees? And YET, it really is a surprise that DT beat them all. Most of them had political experience, and God on their side, and yet… HRC is now facing DT.

However we ended up here, so be it. DT vs HRC… especially as DT continues to reveal himself vs HRC? There’s no contest any more.

      • Friday

The fact is the most hatiest alpha-ape guy won out cause that’s what they spent decades making their party into. Obviously the ‘oh-so-righteous’ preachers of ‘family values’ ended up having to kiss Trump’s ring cause….they’re really just about the hate and ignorance, too, for all their belabored poses otherwise.

    • Ross

Respectfully, I am not sure that I agree that Clinton was not the best candidate the Dems could’ve gone with.

Little Donnie steamrolled over 15 Republican candidates. I have no doubt he would have done the same to any Democratic candidate other than Hillary. And Warren. But Warren did not want to run.

Hillary has incredible experience dealing with the Republican Destructo Machine. We all saw this amply during the first debate when she demolished little Donnie.

And is Hillary’s so-called baggage really an issue? Obama did not have Hillary’s baggage but in both his elections he was mostly only 1- to 2-points ahead. Hillary has been doing better.

Importantly, no matter the up/down of polls (which is normal), Hillary has ALWAYS been forecast with more then enough Electoral votes to win, and little Donnie has NEVER had enough.

Today, Electoral-vote.com forecasts Hillary with 323 votes (270 are needed to win), and little Donnie with but 215.

This is good, and I suspect no other Democrat would be doing as well. Hillary is running a good campaign, knows EVERYBODY who matters, knows politics like few do, and has been raking in money (I have now donated four times. I have never before donated to a candidate).

Also, I am INCREDIBLY excited about Hillary. I adore Warren but would rather Hillary in the White House. I am giddy with excitement about her winning.

    • Now then, done with dinner, here’s why I do believe Hillary Clinton will be our next president, in roughly the same format:

      – Solid, capable candidate who knows how to campaign. I know Ross takes exception with my portrayal of Clinton as less than ideal as the candidate, and he’s not wrong. All I’m saying is the ‘unfavorables’ were there because mainstream media put them there; a more ideal candidate would have have a positive favorables ratio. And the only reason I put Warren ahead of her in the ‘more ideal’ candidate 100% subjective rating was because she has almost nothing but favorables. However, Clinton has shown she really is a skilled campaigner and if we had any doubt she was an opponent formidable enough to sweep the floor with Trump’s fake hair, she proved it last Monday night.

      – Trump is the opposite, the anti-matter version of a truly professional candidate. He has no clue how to run a campaign. He doesn’t raise anywhere near enough money for the campaign; that is, money he doesn’t seem to be siphoning off into his businesses. He is incapable of staying on-message. He’s incapable of preparing for anything and has the attention span of a goldfish. He’s that lethal combination of a man who knows nothing but believes he knows everything. What messages he does stick to he truly is incapable of seeing they harm him among all the groups whose support he needs to win. And of course, it is trivial to bait him into losing what little self-control he barely has. Clinton and her campaign can control Trump’s behavior for a solid week just by saying one critical but truthful thing to him.

      – Demographics. Yeah, Trump leads strongly among white male not-college-educated voters, particularly those who identify as ‘conservative’ and/or ‘Republican.’ That’s it. His numbers among GOP women are mushy at best; among independent and Dem women, his numbers are in the toilet. He’s positively subterranean among all minority groups — African Americans, Latinos and Hispanics, Asians, etc. Trump is polling worse among all minorities — and women — than any GOP presidential candidate in the modern era.

      – Likely voters (LVs) and soft support. I’ve said this a couple times before, how I do think in the aftermath of Nov 8th, quite a few professional polling organizations are going to need to revisit how they determined their Likely Voter calculations. Just expressing an opinion here, but I think far, far more voters will be very highly motivated to turn out to vote Dem this election than to vote for Trump and the GOP. As I saw someone quote a while back, “Hey, black people are used to standing in lines to exercise our hard-won right to vote.” Yeah, GOP voter suppression is going to eat into some of those numbers, but I don’t think it’s going to be as significant… plus there’s my next point–

      – The GOP establishment. None of them are enthusiastic about Trump or the prospects of him winning. Newspapers which had never endorsed a Democrat for President are doing so now. Yes, there are the cowards and the deplorables among the GOP political class, but shocking numbers of them are crossing over to endorse Clinton. As has been noted, both Dubya and his father declined to endorse Trump, as has the last GOP candidate for president, Mitt Romney. What all this also means though is that same GOP establishment isn’t going to be nearly as motivated to use those voter suppression mechanisms they’ve been building.

      – The plutocrats. I’m talking the actual billionaires, not the phony ones like Trump. They like their money. They don’t want a global economic collapse. Many of them own a whole lot of T-bills and bonds, and Trump’s threat to renege on the U.S. debt horrifies them.

My current prediction is a Clinton win somewhere in the 10-12 point range. Like Trump’s estimates of his own wealth, however, it’s just how I happen to feel today.

    • BobSF_94117

      Less than optimal Dem opponent.

One might ask oneself why the GOP has spent 30 years smearing Mrs. Clinton. It’s not because they thought she was a lousy politician.

I, for one, am glad for our traffic bump.

    And there you have folks.
Putting out a misleading headline that could damage turnout on our side and put Trump in office isn’t as important as getting the almighty clicks.
    Fuck Politico and selfish reporters.

    • Lazycrockett

Yeah #basementdwellers has been trending all day.

      • Ninja0980

Mostly by Republicans trying to take attention off Trump’s horrible week.
For his part, Sander and many of his supporters have actually said there is nothing bad there (there isn’t) and aren’t taking the bait Conway and Republicans want them to.

    • SoCalGal20

Just when I think Politico might be ok finally, they pull this shit. Again.

I don’t think this story is going to hurt her, though. The people that are digging in their heels and would be “offended” by this would never vote for her anyway.

However, the Trump csmpaign has their talking points all ready to go.

Have you noticed that the liberals, who these gun nuts think are creating a Constitutional crisis threatening their right to gun ownership, have not said WORD ONE about Trump and his ilk of politicians being so bad they demand to be posted for “target practice.” It is time for these assholes to do a little self examination and see who threatens our democracy. And the answer is very simple. They are the threat to the security of our nation.

Thank you, Farmers Market for you tomorrow? Our tomatoes are ALMOST over. 🙁 Sad day for sure! Kale and lettuce coming in though.

          • Gianni

It’s always a bit of a downer when the tomato season ends here in PA. I wait all year to grow them and eat them like there’s no tomorrow. I have four left; they’ll very soon be gone.

I’m with you, brother! 🙂 I just finished cooking a whole batch I had cut up and saved and made a bacon and basil sauce. Boy, heaven over fettuccine.

          • abel

If the tomatoes are really good, there is nothing better for lunch than a tomato sandwich, unless it’s a bacon and tomato sandwich, without or without lettuce, but definitely with mayo.

          • TuuxKabin

Uh huh, farmers’ tomorrow. Can hardly wait. The bakers suggested us leaving our PIE order on Thirstdays for Sundays so we’re guaranteed to get ’em. Tomatoes look like we may still have a couple of weeks. Gazpacho has been on the menu here, spiked with a shot of tequila silver. As long as the strawberries hold out I’m/we’re okay. Kale and lettuce plentiful. Looks like a lot of us will be up late tonight, damn it. Was ready to go to bed, but this tax sensation, sweeping the nation’s gonna keep me up, and I have a 7AM appointment. Grrrrr. Hello benadryl. Sweet dreams.

First a Holy War on Milo, now incitement to murder high government officials. The Republicans are better armed than Democrats – and they are going to slaughter us. Your snarky quips and lack of gun ownership will not protect you when they come for us. And I HONESTLY believe that they are indeed going to kill as many Gay and Black people as they can find. If you are Gay or Black and don’t own a gun yet – MOVE NOW to a state that will defend you. Fools who dawdle in Red States are putting their own lives at risk. The American Holy Civil War is upon us.

“I know I’m gonna get heat for this”

If you’re lucky, Mr Adkins, they’ll ONLY include YOUR pic w/ Hillary’s too (if you’re not lucky, they’ll post your address—on a map w/ helpful crosshairs)

Seriously. it’s getting out of line. Secret service should step in and take a look at these crap.

I’ll be right back. Gotta phone my stock broker. (Sadly, I can’t bring myself to invest in munitions. Bad mistake… investment-wise…)

“there won’t be a gun (or ammunition) available for love of money.”

I am completely unsurprised that mass dealers in weaponry don’t understand the phrase is “love OR money.”

I can’t imagine why anyone would want to live in NC except for old white dudes and rednecks. How can adults be so hateful and childish? I won’t be surprised if some stupid redneck tries to assassinate Hillary, once she’s elected.
