Bill Maher Eviscerates Trump’s Surrogates [VIDEO]

You’ll enjoy this. Esquire recaps:

“If you think you hate the establishment now,” Bill Maher cautioned viewers Friday night, “Wait until [Donald Trump] wins and the Trump surrogates—that basket of inexplicables he sends out every day to speak for him—become the establishment.”

Maher then launched into an epic evisceration of people like Omarosa Manigault, Chris Christie, and Rudy Giuliani. Why would Trump surround himself with these idiots? Well, as Trump once said, “Always be around unsuccessful people because everybody will respect you.”

It seems that Trump takes his own advice. “That does explain Rudy Giuliani,” Maher joked. It also explains the pastor who, when interviewed by CNN, declared the conversation “off the record” only after the reporter questioned him about his bogus claims that he graduated college.

And then there’s Marco “taco truck on every corner” Gutierrez. Or Katrina “Obama started the war with Afghanistan” Pierson. And let’s not forget Trump’s lawyer, Michael “Says who?” Cohen.

  • Lazycrockett

Just think of the damage these grifters would do if given cabinet positions!!!!!!

  • DH Esq

Why did Maher not include Kellyanne Conway in his list of ridiculous surrogates? She is one of the worst liars, yet Maher remains friends with her and allowed her to spew fifteen minutes of unchallenged bullshit on his show.

    • Lazycrockett

I don’t know how but Ms KellyAnne seems to be well liked among the media anchors and pundits.

      • bkmn

Ms. Conjob has a very long history of being a Hillary hater and before she was a spokeswhore for the orange ass, she was actually working for the #NotTrump campaign.

        • Dubito et cogitare

There are some great quotes from about Trump from her earlier in the year. I like the nickname “Kellyanne Conjob.” Very clever.

          • Helen Damnation

Hell yes, “Kellyanne Conjob” is now added to my dictionary!

          • bzrd

I called her Conalways but conjob is so much easier to say

        • NedFlaherty

Kellyanne Conway is a long-time pollster for NOM (National Organization for Marriage).

    • Bruno

She’s polite and non-confrontational in interviews with the left. In fact, she’s a kiss-ass. She went on and on about how much she admired Maddow, who just ate her up like candy. More of a door-to-door salesman than a used car salesman.

    • EweTaw

Because Maher used to nail her. She got her start appearing on his show Politically Incorrect. Before that she wasn’t even a spot on the wall. She owes Maher for helping make her who she is.

      • bambinoitaliano

Say what you will about her, if she can spin the bullshit for Trump and people are buying it, that speaks to her skills. Her resume would have attract many heavy weight clients that need to neutralize negative image. Be it corporations or A list celebrities. Personally I would not spend a minute in the same room with her but I’m not a wealthy individual or ceo of a corporation that needs to remake my image.

        • EweTaw

I was just repeating her history. A hired shill is a hired shill.

        • Danieruw

Yeah, but don’t you think most people associated with the Trump campaign will be considered poison after Hillary wins? If a celebrity or a corporation needs an image remake (hello Wells Fargo), wouldn’t hiring someone so many people actively hate be counterproductive?

          • bambinoitaliano

Not necessarily because this is their profession. I’m not saying all those who work for Trump campaign will land on their feet. But for someone like Kellyanne, she might reap the reward from it. The bulk of the blame is on political figure like Trump and the GOP during the aftermath. The only reason any company and individual would hire her is because they already have bad publicity. Just think of defense lawyers who got the most notorious clients off their case will be sought after.

        • RoFaWh

Notice how you yourself have bought into the idea that corporations with bad reps should work on their “image” instead of figuring out how to do their job right.

          • bambinoitaliano

Unfortunately, that’s the reality of big businesses this day. The only way to get their attention is via bad publicity.

    • bambinoitaliano

Because Maher think she is one heck of an excellent bullshit spinner. That makes her very capable of her job. If she was included in the clip it would lessen the impact of his message.

  • bkmn

Ana Novarro took down the repulsive Jeffrey Lord on CNN. She really nailed him to the cross.
    https://mediamatters.org/video/2016/09/30/watch-cnn-donald-trump-supporter-struggle-defend-his-3am-twitter-meltdown/213467

    • EweTaw

Ana Novarro did a good job of nailing Lord. But she’s got all the charisma (and arrogance, anger and haughty personality) of a cranky mother superior hell bent on putting everyone in detention until they pray to her version of Jesus. She’s just a GOP spox who doesn’t support Trump. But good for her.

      • Cuberly

I follow her, among other conservatives, on twitter. She’s actually rather interesting. The other day she shot down an alt-righter for dissing Rosie O’Donnell, she even voiced her appreciation for Rosie’s philanthropy.

Yeah she’s VERY catholic but she also seems to be very inclusive & calls out hate no matter where it originates.

        • EweTaw

I’ve heard her spout her opinions regarding our community. Trust me. She’s no friend of the LGBT folks. In her opinion we’re just ten rungs below original sin, which is a thing she still believes in. Ugh.

          • Cuberly

Oh she’s definitely of GOP provenance. I believe she was a Jeb supporter early on. But if someone says something sane I’ll make a point to say thank you, or agree.

    • another_steve

There is “the perfect” in all things, good and bad. Jeffrey Lord is the perfect Trump surrogate. It’s as if he were born for the role.

He never loses his temper. He never loses his place in his mental list of talking points. He perfectly diverts the listener’s attention away from the question being asked him (unless and until an alert interviewer calls him on it).

I don’t know of any other monstrous Trump surrogate who does it better than Jeffrey Lord.

    • teeveedub

The world is officially upside-down, if I find myself cheering on Ana Navarro.

  • crewman

It’s so obvious they were chosen not because of their knowledge or familiarity of important events, but rather their ability to be insulting.

    • popebuck1

I think their willingness to work for Trump (after any people with actual qualifications bailed long ago) has more to do with it.

    • JCF

      Their ability to be sycophants.

      • prixator

        .. and psychopaths.

  • OT: a conservative goon ruining as an independent for Utah State Senate was caught harassing mourners by saying God should have mercy on a dead man because of his “sin of homosexuality”. He also deletes any opinion contrary to his own but claims “the left” is intolerant (but why should we tolerate bullies even a little).

    What character?

      Perfect.

The fictitious character he created to pull off his scam.

According to AMJoy Marco Gutierrez has been kicked to the curb and the Drumpf campaign changed the Latino organization he was fronting. He will be eating a lot of cheap tacos soon.

  • TexasBoy

It a shame Chris Christie doesn’t have something better to do…like, oh, I dunno…making sure the commuter trains in his state are outfitted with the federally mandated safety devices.

    • Helen Damnation

Or maybe just keep the roads and bridges open, so, I dunno, people won’t die needing emergency care in the back of an ambulance.

      • grada3784

He’s too busy shifting traffic cones.

  • Elagabalus

The Trump surrogate I really can’t stand is Boris Epshteyn. There’s something about him that makes me run for the remote as soon as he appears on CNN, which is always. And what person named “Epstein” spells their name that way?https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/629e9e457f4770c934d571355baf41c72641e4fd7202ac7e9c42f28d7ba62147.png

I’m with you on this one. He is as smarmy as they come, and he seems to be able to immediately spew justification for whatever the latest thing that Tяump says or does that is unjustifiable. There have to be some skeletons in this douchebag’s closet. Blecch.

    • SoCalGal20

Bill Maher and most of the T.V. comics are some of the best assets that the Democratic Party has. Go Bill.

  • Healy Baumgartner, a top aide to Drumpf, announced her resignation claiming “she was no longer comfortable with the direction of his presidential bid.” But she still intends to vote for him. If you’re not comfortable with the direction of the campaign then why reward that campaign and the person in charge of it with your vote?

Guess she must have figured out the only reason the check wasn’t going to bounce was because she’d never get it.

That was great. Too bad the trumpeters will just think it is a badge of honor.

  • Hank

Katrina Pierson’s tweet about “pure breeds left”… is interesting, considering her parents are Caucasian AND African American!!!

    • IamM

Love Maher’s reply to that: “Where do you study your talking points, by the light of a burning cross?”

  • teeveedub

Maher was on fire last night. His monologue at the beginning was relentless. I hope there’s a clip of that available soon, because he nails Tяump.

Excellent. One of his best opening monologues.

      • Bad Tom

“Donald Trump was born with a silver spoon up his nose.”

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

Maher and other comedians have lamented a bit about this election cycle, not because there isn’t any comedic fodder, but because the jokes just write themselves and they don’t need to really work at it. That sentiment speaks volumes.

I’ve been so appalled at the thought of Trump and his children in the White House that I hadn’t thought about the band of deplorables that he’d bring along with him. Imagine Katrina Pierson as Secretary of Education, or Milo as anything.

    • swimboy

Milo will be the BBC inspector at the door to the White House.

  • BobSF_94117

I hope there was someone qualified nearby to analyze their entrails and tell us who’s going to win the election.

“basket of inexplicables” is a great turn of phrase.

  • Gerry Fisher

Twenty times better than the Washington Post saying, “Wahhh! They’re getting bigoted. They insulted one of our editors.”

  • Profoundly perverse: in conservative circles, DT’s grossly overpaid confederacy of dunces is actually considered successful.

  • JellyDonut

Pure breds? Seriously? That group is a disgrace to this country.

Absolutely astonishingly hysterically funny. I find it especially funny that no videos of Hillary surrogates exist on this level. None.
