RAISE YOUR HAND: Trump Jokingly Asks About Ejecting “Non-Christian Conservatives” From Iowa Rally [VIDEO]

Time Magazine reports:

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump called on non-Christian conservative supporters to raise their hands and seemed to ask the audience whether he should eject them from a rally in Iowa. Appearing in Council Bluffs as he rolled out it his Iowa Christian Conservatives for Trump coalition, which the campaign said included over 650 religious leaders from the state, Trump first asked the Christian conservatives to raise their hands.

“Raise your hands, Christian Conservatives everybody,” he said, as most of the hands in the draped-off convention center went up. He then asked who didn’t fit the bill for the previous question. “Raise your hand if you’re not a Christian conservative—I want to see this, right,” Trump said, seemingly surprised that any hands went up. “That’s—oh, there’s a couple people, that’s all right. I think we’ll keep them, right? Should we keep them in the room, yes? I think so.”

I say, yes, kick out all the non-Evangelicals from his rallies and alienate even more of his base if support. Go for it, Donnie.

So now hes starting to turn his own supporters against each other?

Hitler is a more exact exemplar to which Trump can be compared.

Usage [of the Big Lie] in Hitler’s psychological profile.

The phrase was also used in a report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler’s psychological profile:

His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.

The above quote appears in the Nizkor Project’s site though the source document is not cited. The quote does not appear in the report, A Psychological Analysis of Adolph Hitler: His Life and Legend, by Walter C. Langer with collaboration by Henry Murray, Ernst Kris and Bertram Lewin, which is available from the US National Archives, though it does appear, unreferenced, on page 57 in Langer’s ebook by the same title (without mention of the collaborators on his previous work). A somewhat similar quote — “never to admit a fault or wrong; never to accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time; blame that enemy for everything that goes wrong; take advantage of every opportunity to raise a political whirlwind” — appears on page 219 in a different report also available from the US National Archive, namely, Analysis of the Personality of Adolph Hitler: With Predictions of His Future Behaviour and Suggestions for Dealing with Him Now and After Germany’s Surrender, by Henry A. Murray, October 1943 though Murray’s work is neither referenced in Langer’s ebook nor in the Hitler’s Source-Book compiled by Langer and upon which his ebook heavily depends.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Godwin’s Law is officially suspended until after the election.

How is this any different than let’s eject any Jewish Communists. The parallels are so horrifying.

    • McSwagg

This has always been present and just under the surface. I had a Middle School teacher ask “Raise your hand if you’re a catholic.” I was (at the time) but didn’t raise my hand, as I was probably the only one in the class. She went on to make disparaging comments about catholics to which every one else in the room nodded in agreement.

    • ShawnSwagger

That’s true of almost everything Trump does. Can you even imagine what FoxNews and the Republicans would do if it was revealed that Hillary Clinton had used $20,000 of donations to the Clinton Foundation to pay for a life-size painting of herself? Yet this is exactly what Trump did with money from his “charity” with no outrage from the usual suspects.

      • Actually, he has done that with TWO portraits.

      • Nic Peterson

        Paintinghazi!

      • another_steve

Exactly. The “double standard” has been much reported on in the non-mainstream media.

The Cialis salespeople (aka, “mainstream media”) don’t want to risk losing potential customers, so Trump’s antics — even those clearly illegal — go largely ignored.

      • TampaDink

The congressional committees would be underway with multiple investigations if she had done that.

God I just want this insanity to end. I keep having nightmares of the apocalypse if he wins.

        • jimbo65

Unfortunately we still lose. Pence will be installed, appoint the next supreme court justices. Which will screw this nation for a generation. I’ll kinda welcome the nukes option. Take me out. Let’s just hope it won’t come to pass!

          • PeterC

Yes, Pence will definitely push for a theocratic government.
Just as he has during his time as a Governor.

What frustrates me is these reveals that Trump is outright lying get reported in small little side articles, if at all.

          • Digby just posted an article on how Trump’s previous claim that the Bush White House had sent a delegation to talk to him about the Iraq war — a war he falsely says he opposes, therefore meaning if true (it’s not) they wouldn’t have given half a fuck what a war opponent had to say — was absolutely a lie.

So he spent the last two days insisting he didn’t actually lose the debate, that if he did it’s because there was cheating…and so he’s retreated to that which has sustained and fed his sickness over the last year. Namely reliably supportive rally crowds in a state where he’s already likely to win.

I would like for him to define what a “Christian” is. I have a working knowledge of what one is but I’d like for HIM to tell me what his definition is. Does HE think he is with being a serial adulterer, or a cheater of men and not paying them what he owes them? It’s sad and ironic that he imagines himself as some godly figure who gets to make the rules for OTHER people.

        • Cuberly

Wow. One. We got a nobody who hasn’t held an office in years, but lets elect him and Johnson even though they can’t win, pass an agenda, did i mention the big part that there is no damn way that they can win.

They were banking on the main debates, but failed to make it which was no surprise.

    • He actually seems kinda personable, but I do wish he’d realize he’s simply not sharp enough a tack for any sort of elected office these days.

If I had a chance to talk to him directly, one on one, for just a couple minutes, I’d tell him, “I know you think your intentions are good. But you can’t win. You can’t even win matching funds. You won’t win even a single electoral vote. You know what’s at risk in this election. For the sake of the country, drop out and urge your people to vote for Clinton this time. Just do it and win the gratitude and respect of millions — if not billions — all over the world. Isn’t that a far greater reward than this…eccentric foolishness?”

      • TuuxKabin

Hope you don’t mind, Becca, I blocked/copied/pasted what you wrote, from: “I know you think your intentions are good . . . to the . . . “eccentric foolishness?” into his “comments for the campaign” in-box at his website. I have a third email account for such purposes.

  • Rachel Maddow’s scoop: Trump did business in Cuba when it was absolutely illegal to do so. Eichenwald scoop in Newsweek tomorrow. Happened in 1998, very shadily done, they had to have known what they were doing was illegal. And (surprise!) they tried to use a ‘charity’ angle to cover their tracks.

    • Lazycrockett

Id say funneling the cash through another company and then funneling it back through a charity is gonna be pretty impossible to deny.

      • Rachel only had the first few paragraphs, but the lede was definitely not buried.

Back in ’98, Trump was making noises to run for Prez as the Reform Party candidate for 2000. He spoke with a group of Cuban emigres, basically going on about how anti-Castro he was. Meanwhile, just months earlier, he’d used a consultant shell company to open negotiations with the Castro government. They even spent tens of thousands of dollars — which again, at the time was absolutely banned by law.

Wouldn’t matter if they found evidence he was a mass murderer of pure christian white men as CNN would run with “Hillary sneezes, is she dying from pneumonia?”

I may be a bit cynical atm. 😉

    • sherman

Unfortunately I think the only people who care already know enough of Trump’s baggage that they are already voting for Hillary.

This will probably be ignored just as was Cheney’s Halliburton having a subsidiary that did business with Iran despite sanctions.

We live in an IOKIYAR world.

What’s really depressing is that Dems only have a 40% or so chance of getting the Senate, despite having a very favorable playing field. What’s worse is that 2018 is very unfavorable, and if we can’t make gains this year the Republicons could likely get a filibuster proof advantage then.

    • There are a number of ways to deal with someone — whom one cares about — who appears to be in trouble or suffering a personal crisis.

One, for example, is to approach them privately and ask what’s wrong. Offer support and comfort and reassurances, unconditionally. Offer accommodations and time. Be there.

The other is to call them an ugly fat pig and attempt to use public shame and humiliation to force compliance, regardless what it does to the person’s psyche and emotional well-being.

Donald Jackass Trump ALWAYS goes for the latter. Because he hates women and only wants them around when they fulfill his own sexist demands. Apparently Newt agrees this is how to do it.

I wonder if, like most people of that ilk, he’s ever had even a moment’s reflection that nobody loves him. Nobody even likes him. His funeral will be a dry-eye event and even his own kids will be doing nothing but waiting for the reading of the will.

It’s a fitting result for most very evil people. I went to one funeral like that…most of us were there to support the (down-trodden for decades) widow but really weren’t pulling any punches in private conversation.

    Full Frontal!!

  • Robert Conner

Mr. “Two-Corinthians-walk-into-a-bar” Donnie gets the Bible lickers all wet where the sun don’t shine, demonstrating for the zillionth time that American evangelicals and Catholics are as supernaturally gullible as some cannibal tribe from the highlands of New Guinea.

  • It seems to me that he’s intentionally trying to alienate everyone, one group at a time. There are plenty of conservatives who practice other religions or none at all. And yet it doesn’t seem to hurt him to attack women and ethnic minorities. I’ve never seen anything quite like this at the national level.

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

      He’s a black swan.
Reminds me of “the Mule” character in Asimov’s Foundation series.
He is able to reach into the minds of his supporters and manipulate them.

  • Nychta

I heard on NPR this afternoon that Trump is soon returning to AZ for his sixth visit. Are they worried about this state possibly flipping? I think it’s a long shot. I’ll be thrilled, though, if we can finally vote out Sheriff Joe.

    • The_Wretched

In a decent country, Sheriff Joe would be in prison for his abuses toward minority groups but especially those of Hispanic descent.

  • Lazycrockett
    • safari

Oil prices couldn’t stay low for ever. The reduced output will stabilize the US and Canadian energy sector. Fuel prices will go up, but demand is pretty weak right now anyhow from what I gather, so it won’t be horribly bad. The major problem will be, of course, Russia getting a bump… but so will Venezuela which needs all the help it can get.

      • Lazycrockett

The rise in gas prices 1 month before the election is not going to do the party in office any favors.

        • Ninja0980

Nope, and that is part of the plan IMO.

          • Lazycrockett

Funny how it comes on the day that Congress vetos the president. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

          • Cuberly

            My first thought.

    • The_Wretched

They are trying to spike gas prices in time for the US election. It actually helps republicans for reasons that escapes me.

  • There is an amazing but sickening irony, which I’ve seen a few of the commentators and pundits mention. It makes me furious, too.

The new Trump campaign talking point is that Donald was being ‘courageous’ for not bringing up Bill Clinton’s cheating decades ago — of course the whole point being to put themselves out there as the abject cowards who’d dare try to sling that shit, so Donald could continue pretending he’s not saying it.

Among those giving interviews RIGHT NOW, TODAY, spinning this exact talking point are Trump’s adult children — Junior, Eric, and Ivanka. All three of them. The names of the women Bill Clinton cheated with are all they’re talking about now. Well that, and how a woman Donald Trump humiliated — and indeed every single woman Trump has done this to — deserved his sexist hate.

All three of them are the children of Ivana Trump, Donald’s first wife. Their own mother, whom their father not only cheated on, he literally bragged about cheating on her, publicly, on Howard Stern’s show and elsewhere. Their own father, while they were still children and their parents were still married, BRAGGING about his adulterous sexual conquests.

It’s in this context Donald Trump Jr, Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump are claiming their father was COURAGEOUS for not mentioning those women and those decades-old affairs. Apparently blind to how it clearly makes them not just fucking goddamned craven cowards, but something even worse.

They are, obviously, their father’s children and raised to be just like him. Basically amoral monsters. By time Donald’s done with him, Barron will probably grow up to be Damien.

    • Lazycrockett

It was great that Lawrence called out how Eric was fine with his daddy carrying on a public affair in NYC while still married to Eric’s mommy. I guess Eric is okay with having his mother embarrassed. I’m sure, in her sons mind, she was asking to be raped. What a POS.

    • Ross

Donnie was SUCH a train-wreck during the debate that the kiddies are grasping at straws.

And such sad straws they be.

      Such sad kiddies, too.

      • Yeah… it’s doubly sad they were raised to be despicable adults in the service of a despicable, deplorable septuagenarian, geriatric, mentally deranged father.

Or would be, until I see one of those photos of Junior and Eric displaying their grisly endangered animal trophies, or listen to Ivanka attempt endlessly to excuse the inexcusable and think nah, they could be different but choose not to be. They’re monsters just like their father now.

    • lymis

Their own father, yes, but their own meal-ticket even more.

  • Oh fuck… You all do know who else believed in this stuff, right?

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has offered a litany of racist comments, which it turns out may be rooted in his deeper belief in the inherent superiority of some people ― and not others.

The Frontline documentary “The Choice,” which premiered this week on PBS, reveals that Trump agrees with the dangerous and abusive theory of eugenics.

    Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-eugenics_us_57ec4cc2e4b024a52d2cc7f9

It is no accident Donald Trump is so comfortable with the white supremacists. He really and truly is one.

    • Ninja0980

That’s been known in NY a long time.. but since we’re all far left liberals (we aren’t) folks ignored it or gave him a pass.

      • Now we have the context. Wish I could link the trailer, but in it, it is totally clear that Trump’s racism isn’t just an incidental thing. It is quite literally one of Donald’s absolute core beliefs.

He believes there are Ubermensch. And it is also beyond any doubt, he believes he is one of them. That he was bred to be a superior human. Towards the end of the trailer, he even expresses pride, specifically, in his German heritage.

We’re dealing with GOP Candidate Khan Noonien Singh…only far, far more unstable and ignorant. And without the actual, y’know, ‘superior intellect.’ Plus there’s the Nazi Aryan stuff going on without any doubt.

        • Ninja0980

Indeed… and the fact so many people don’t care about that… ugh.

        • RJ Bone

In this case, though, even today’s William Shatner could kick this “Khan’s” ass with both hands tied behind his back.

    • Cuberly

The transcript from the debates, re; the fair housing lawsuit confirmed he’s a chronic racist.

He turned a lawsuit he fought for years, tooth and nail, into a commercial for inclusivity at one of his Florida properties. An amenity.

He’s so fucking racist he doesn’t even know it’s wrong. He regards inclusivity as a privilege.

      • It does explain why he thinks any concession or legal accommodation he makes for the Untermensch — people who aren’t white Aryan types like him, or who are disabled — is somehow a sign of yuuge personal sacrifice and generous nobility, which he’s supposed to be given credit for.

        • Cuberly

          Exactly.

And you nailed it. He thinks whenever he’s been found fault, any concession he makes is a Trumpian virtue.

          He’s garbage.

          • I showed what I found there to my wife. Not sure if it was a good idea or not because it’s one of the most disturbing things I’ve seen all day. She looked…stunned.

What she said? “If Trump wins, we really have to leave. No question about it. Only question is whether Canada is far enough or if we should look maybe to Ireland or somewhere else in Europe.”

          • Cuberly

lol…I’m holding out for a Canadian Bear 4 cub adoption. Yeah, I’m 53 but I still peak on the cubbish side of the bear meter.

I do look fetching in flannel though, if I say so myself.

    • RJ Bone

You’ve got to be carefully taught…

    • Snarkaholic

If he wins (shudder), I hope that the every bigot chokes on their Grandmom…after he cuts Social Security costs by turning her into Soylent Green!

    • lymis

The problem with arguing eugenics is that pretty much nobody is going to see themselves as part of an “inferior” portion of the population. So the idea of selecting for only the best, obviously includes them, so what’s the problem.

People who know damn well they’re in the part of the population being targeted against tend not to support the idea of eugenics in the first place.

  • And now for a lighter moment. This is from the restaurant in Trump’s new DC hotel:

    http://cdn.thedailybeast.com/content/dailybeast/articles/2016/09/27/america-spelled-wrong-on-trump-hotel-menu/jcr:content/body/inlineimage.img.800.jpg/49166739.cached.jpg

I’m not even going to bother with the childish petulance of the two items at the top of the menu. I will, however, mock the very notion of paying $100, per person, for an ‘unlimited’ (all the beer you can drink within a 3 hour time period max, 8-11pm) bucket of unspecified AMERRICA BEER.

Something about this whole thing is so fucking Trump.

    • Treant

Hell, they lost me at $29 for hummus and potato chips. I can do that for $10 at the local grocery store and it’s probably better.

      • djcoastermark

Which is most likely where the lousy restaurant got it in the first place.

      • Yeah, but can you imagine paying a hundred bucks just for BEER? That’s insane.

        • TampaDink

Not just beer but temporarily re-branded Budweiser.
          (yuck)

      • Snarkaholic

Here’s their chef…The Crazy Russian Hacker(!), sharing the resteraant’s secret recipe:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHjhgCX2MfY

        • Actually… microwaving potato chips for about 20 seconds is amazing. 😉

          • Snarkaholic

I actually tried this recipe…they weren’t bad…but it took four rounds to make one potato (on a dinner-sized plate).

          • Maybe I’ll give it a try someday. Looks like the key is slicing the potatoes razor thin.

          • Snarkaholic

Yes; I used a vegetable peeler.

    • Lazycrockett

From what I’ve read its half deserted and no one is booking reservations.

      • Treant

And half of those who are there work in the hotel. They don’t really count.

    • DH Esq

“T rump sliders.” He has the best typesetters who care about the quality of their printed work.

      • safari

They probably didn’t get paid last time.

      • Stubenville

If it’s “Hillary hummus” it should really be “Trump taquitos” to keep the pattern going.

      • Yeah, the kerning is “unbelievably” sloppy. To borrow a Trump word.

And I say this one who has been in writing and publishing since the mid-1980s. There is no excuse.

        • DH Esq

          And no ffl ligature! 🙂

          • I’m in love. Don’t tell my wife. 😉

      • Max_1
    • Stubenville

How much is a six pack of Pabst? $6 or less?

      • Snarkaholic

I guess they were all outta Mad Dog.

      • Hell, one would be hard-pressed to pay more than $30 for a six of really great craft brew beer.

      • JT

A Drumpf six pack is only one can and a roll of fat.

    • Cuberly

Trump sliders, they keep repeating on you and never taste the same.

    • RJ Bone

I kinda like sliders but I really love hummus. No that is not a political commentary.

    • Max_1

I ate me some Hillary today for a midday snack…
      … She tasted awesome!!!

    • Max_1

“America Beer” That sounds like a brand…
… American Beer is where it was brewed.

Let me guess, Trump approved menu.

      • ‘Trump Sliders’ vs ‘Hillary Hummus’? Little Murkin’ hamburgers vs what’s basically a bland Middle-Eastern dip? No question it was Trump-approved. Fuck, he probably ordered these specific things, given his propensity for unhealthy fast food and his inbred inability to pass up any chance to behave like an immature child.

        • Max_1

          T rump sliders…

Now, close your eyes and imagine:
          Ground Trump rump burgers.

          Hungry now?

          • Nope. The opposite.

          • The_Wretched

            kerning!

    • SoCalGal20

America beer is the rebranded Budweiser! Ew.

    • TrollopeReader

The first thing I do when I get to (especially one that should know better) is to find the typos on menus. That and “with au jus” ….

  • Treant

Well, in addition to finding out that Trump has violated the Cuban embargo, I made soap tonight.

It’s not of particular interest, except that everything went wrong from the get-go. I managed, but this is not my best effort and I’m almost out of time to make soap for Christmas (it must age, and I find 10-12 weeks to be optimal).

    • Ninja0980

The only question I have is when will Cruz and Rubio be asked about this?

      • Treant

The only question I have is how do we buy 100,000 Newsweek copies and leave them all over the high-Cuban-population areas of Florida?

        • Ninja0980

Hopefully someone is working on that right now.

    • i make candles. from organic and home grown herbs & stuff. i also recycle other people’s wax (go on, make a joke 😉

but i know the feeling of peace and well being that comes from making your own (whatever). i’m happy to trade you for some of your soap, if you like candles in your bathtub moment.

      • Treant

Hey, thanks! I actually make candles, too. 🙂 I tend to prefer soy wax, and container candles. One of these days I’d like to try making pillars, but haven’t gotten around to it yet!

    • kareemachan

I made english muffins for the first time. They taste good (and will taste even better toasted) but they aren’t holey enough.

      • TrollopeReader

did you mix in the correct amount of communion wine?!!

        🙂

      • Crumpets are holey, muffins are not.

      • Treant

        Awesome! I don’t bake…I’m barely allowed in the kitchen…

      • Ninja0980

        My uncle as well.
Rural Upstate NY but still, he thinks Trump will be able to bring an area that has been dying for decades back to life.
        Simply not going to happen.
I get how some people can do things when they have lost all hope but I’m sorry.
Anyone Democrat voting for Trump is a fool, simple as that.

        • Lazycrockett

My brother in rural Ohio who thinks that Drumpf is basically going to give him thousands of dollars once its in office. the stupid is strong.

          • Ninja0980

I’m sadly seeing that in the district to the north of me where the NOM teabagger who tried to primary the only LGBT friendly Republican Richard Hanna (and almost succeeded) is likely to win despite the fact Hanna has made it clear he hates her guts.
Hanna’s district was one of the last strongholds of liberal Republicans but even that is changing as younger people move elsewhere and the only people left are the angry racists.
A damn shame, it truly is.

          • Skeptical_Inquirer

It is an ironic thing. The districts complaining most about the economy sucking keep passing crap that make young people flee then wonder why the economy has tanked and why they can’t get people to stay.

    • Treant

And yet their national poll is something like Clinton +4. Since PPP has a +1 R house effect, +5 Clinton.

    • This is the kind of shit that makes me wonder if I should’ve started packing for a move to Canada weeks ago.

      • Ninja0980

Only “good” thing for the hubby and I is we will be in NY for a long time to come so we won’t get hit like other people will.
        No, just no.
        No, just no.

        • Don’t know if you saw my comment below in the Frontline link mention, but what I said there was, because she asked, I showed my wife Trump talking about his ‘superior genes’. (Didn’t want to because I knew it would be bad, but I can’t say no to her.)

Her response was, basically, that if Clinton doesn’t win, we have to leave. Not even any equivocation it was like the blood just drained from her face and “Canada might not be far enough.”

        • TrollopeFan

I really appreciate your posts, Ross! Thanks!

Once Trump becomes president we have to do something about Frontline.

    • As I said in another comment, I showed my wife the trailer of the Trump part, where he goes on about eugenics and his ‘superior’ genes.

Her response was to ask if Canada wasn’t far enough and to speculate how much time we’d have to get out before Trump closed the borders. I said, “Minimum? 3 months. Maximum, 12 to 18. In practice, probably about six but who really knows given he’s an insane fascist madman.”

      TRUMP. CANNOT. FUCKING. WIN.

I don’t care what it takes, beg everybody not to vote for him this time. Promise anything.

Trump is not a Christian or a member of any other organization. He is Donald Trump, The center of his own universe. He has no deeply held beliefs. He thinks and says whatever, at any given moment, further promotes his only real cause, himself.
