MEXICO: Former President Vicente Fox Denounces “False Prophet” Trump’s “Opportunistic” Visit [VIDEO]

Talking Points Memo reports:

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox on Wednesday morning said that the Mexican people do not want Donald Trump to visit the country, despite Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto’s invitation for the Republican nominee to attend a meeting.

“We don’t like him. We don’t want him. We reject his message. I don’t understand why President Pena has offered this opportunity. I think it’s nothing more than a political stunt,” Fox said on CNN’s “New Day.” “Trump is using Mexico, is using President Pena to boost his sinking poll numbers. I think that President Pena is taking an enormous political risk by hosting Trump. If he’s perceived as going soft on Trump, it will hurt him greatly.”

Fox is not a big fan of Trump. He made headlines in February when he told Trump that Mexico is “not going to pay for that fucking wall,” and he later called Trump a “false prophet.”

On Wednesday, Fox told CNN that Trump’s decision to meet with the Mexican president is an “opportunistic move.” He also blasted Trump for lying.

“You cannot cheat people. You have to be straight. You have to speak the truth,” Fox said, adding that he hopes Americans will “finally see what is behind Trump, this false prophet that is just cheating everybody.”

  • Silver Badger

Give him hell Mr. Fox. He deserves every word.

  • Skokieguy [Larry]

I am surprised the Secret Service was able to so quickly provide the necessary security on such short notice, for someone who is only a candidate.

    • Butch

And he’s going with Jeff Sessions and Guiliani – could there be two more perfect handlers for a trip like this?

      • Skokieguy [Larry]

The odds of civil discourse are pretty darn slim. I imagine an international incident and Biden having to make a trip to try and smooth ruffled feathers, like he had to do after Trumps dissing of NATO and the Ukraine.

        • Todd20036

Maybe Biden will bribe Mexico to keep him

          • Skokieguy [Larry]

If only we had a wall…

          • Christopher

I’m not sure the U.S. has that much money.

          • clay

Maybe Biden will attend a state funeral?

      • Gil

Jeff Sessions AND Ghouliani ? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH…snort…… cough Gasp,…….HAHAHA…

        • Butch

I’m stealing that spelling, just to forewarn you….but yeah, Messrs. Racial Sensitivity will be there to hold his hand.

      • Gustav2

Oh dear, should we sent a pre-apology?

    • bambinoitaliano

The top tier secret service are reserve for the sitting president and his cabinet. Hopefully Trump gets the trainees, they need a good scenario to practice 😛

      • Skokieguy [Larry]

You’re evil. Come sit next to me.

  • bambinoitaliano

Oh snap! This Fox at least have some teeth to it. Unlike the news network that give gum jobs to the RWNJ.

  • PickyPecker
    • Silver Badger

Good Morning! A friendly hello from one cock to another!

      • PickyPecker

Good morning, SB! Hope you have a wonderful Wed!

        • TuuxKabin

          Today is Wed? Oh, dear.

          • karmanot

Oh dear, I over slept two days! Again 🙁

    • Gustav2

  • Dreaming Vertebrate

I really hope this trip blows up in his face.

  • bkmn

This trip has a 90% chance of blowing up in Trump’s orange face and I hope it does.

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

      LOL – great minds!

    • skyweaver

It’d be interesting to see if anybody takes that bed. No one will. Except now we’re going to have to scrub bits of orange off the US. Still, quite worth it.

    • Butch

If you check Josh Marshall at Talking Points Memo and Steve Bennen at Rachel Maddow’s blog, they both give long lists of pretty convincing reasons why this trip isn’t going to go well for Trump.

      • another_steve

Enrique Peña Nieto’s favorability numbers are very very low, the Mexican people almost universally detest Trump, so the thinking is that Nieto will try to use Trump’s trip to shore up his (Nieto’s) popularity by dissing Trump in person.

If true, the trip could be a very bad move on Trump’s part.

        • CatApostrophe

Your comment just made me tent my fingers like a Disney villain.

      • The_Wretched

To use Marshall’s “Trump Razor”, this trip is utterly moronic for Trump but that stupidity is getting him another news cycle. Every other politician would looks at that and say ‘Pyrrhic victory’ not worth the cost. To Trump, however, every day he has the news top slot is a win no matter the other costs.

        • Todd Allis

So being at the top for shooting someone at random would definitely count as a win.

          • The_Wretched

I wouldn’t put it past him.

      #TeamShitShow

    • Rex

I’m just wondering if we’ll really know what transpires with this meeting. Will it be recorded? Shared with the public? Or will we have to rely on Trump’s interpretation of what took place, which will be his version of how great he was.

      • Bj Lincoln

Unfortunately, that will be exactly what will happen. We may never know.

        • Lakeview Bob

Trump may never reveal a bad experience but there is no reason for Pena to not tell all.

      • Butch

He’s sandwiching it in between fundraisers in California and his “major” speech on immigration that’s supposed to happen tonight in Arizona. (Betting it won’t happen, but leaving that aside…..) I don’t think there will be time for anything more than a handshake on the tarmac.

        • Rex

And an exchange of Taco bowl recipes.

        • Bj Lincoln

You have a point, but a friendly handshake is not going to do either one of them any good.

          • Butch

I’m just thinking in terms of logistics – I’ve never made the flight but California to Mexico City has to be at least a couple of hours, no? If you factor in the time for fundraisers plus flying to Mexico City and then to Arizona in time for his “speech,” there just isn’t a lot of time left.

          • Bj Lincoln

I understood the time crunch. You’er right about the shortage of time. Maybe the plan is to just take it to a private room in the airport to save time.

      • bkmn

        I’m guessing bluster and lies.

      • Galvestonian

Yeah, watch Trump punch out the President of Mexico.

      • Niblet58

His traveling press corps has been left behind so my guess is we will get a pack of lies the likes of which we have never seen uttered out of a candidates mouth. Of course Mexico has it’s own reporters so we will get the real deal from them. Trump’s supporters will make nasty about it and boost his appeal to the knuckle dragging bigot brigade.

  • Rex

A “false prophet” like the “anti-Christ?” Interesting.
(If he’d said “false profit” I would have understood.)

    • Chucktech

“False profit” is just one reason we aren’t seeing his tax returns.

  • skyweaver

Ha ha ha ha ha!!! Gotta love that Twitter FU from Fox!!!!!

  • Octavio

Vincente was hardly the best President Mexico has had, but his general politics have always been in the right place. I begrudgingly admire him. But hey, we’re talking about Mexico, a country that historically has been messed with by the USA for more than two centuries.

    Sing it Vincente.

    • clay

Fox was buds with Shrub, each talking about their hobby ranches.

Trump is still having problems with the GOP and GOP allies.

      • Octavio

We would have done better to have Fox president of the US than Bush for 8 years.

        • Jamie_Johnson

We would have done better with President Boxofrocks and VP Bagofhair.

If there ever was a time for one of those Mexican crime syndicates to kidnap a wealthy American and demand ransom for his return.

If would be funny if Melania, Uday, Qusay, and I’d Bonk Her decided to cash their chips and refuse to pay.

    • Bj Lincoln

No one would jump to pay! The kidnapper would get so sick of his shit he would be paying us to take him back.

  • Ninja0980

Just saw some new poll numbers.
I knew the high numbers Clinton had couldn’t last but as I said, I wish Trump’s meltdown had happened where he didn’t have enough time to recover.

    • clay

      I hoping for additional melts.

  • DesertSun59

I’m not sure of Nieto’s political stance on anything. Do we know if this is an invitation to diss Agent Orange or to coddle him?

    • clay

Peno Nieto is NOT a fan of Trump.

  • houstonray

Crap!! That reminds me, need to add popcorn to the shopping list!

    • skyweaver

Love this. Also love your name, I was raised in Houston

  • Octavio

If someone is smart, they’ll bottle tap water from Nogales, MX, and sneak it perfectly sealed to Trump and his buddies. It takes at least five days for the foreign flora to settle down in the digestive tract. 🙂

    • skyweaver

God, what a thought. The sickest I EVER was was in Cozumel 20 years ago. I wanted to die.

      • Octavio

And what you probably didn’t know was once your system settled down you could have consumed gallons of the local water without being sick again. 🙂

        • skyweaver

Probably. But I was too busy begging my loved ones not to let me ever fly any more south than the Mason-Dixon

          • Bj Lincoln

I have no desire to cross that line either.

          • Raybob

Funny: I don’t desire to cross it, either. I live in the South.

          • TuuxKabin

            KAching.

      • edrex

For me it was in Rio De Janeiro abt 23 years ago. For all I know I WAS close to dying. It was the first trip I took with the man I later married (or should I say, the man who agreed to marry me). Nothing like impressing a new boyfriend by spending four days shifting from toilet seat to bathroom floor.

    • kanehau

      LOL.

Back when I was ‘straight’ and married, my wife and I went to a new resort on the West cost of Mexico.

We were uber careful not to drink the water, and to only drink bottled water.

On our last night, we went to a restaurant and had some bottled water.

My wife got so so so so so sick… on the plane ride back, so so so miserable. It was awful (I didn’t get sick).

We couldn’t figure out how it happened until we remembered the meal and that they had given us glasses with ice in it for our bottled water.

It had to have been the ice.

  • bobbyjoe

“We don’t like him. We don’t want him. We reject his message.”

    Yeah, join the club.

  • Lazycrockett

    I like this guy.

  • Stephanie Z

So it’s like Dubya saying tRump is bad. Who cares about what Former Presidents have to say anyway? This would be a teachable moment since JMG tweets are now being linked by Twitchy in their articles. I am sure he appreciated the bump in hits and Ad revenue for gay resorts being seen by non-liberal homosexuals for the first time. I know he can’t stand being tolerant of homosexuals that don’t share his extremely narrow and negative worldview but actual tolerance is awesome.

    • Silver Badger

Well, Bush II IS an expert on bad presidents!

    • lymis

You can also look at it as politically prominent Mexicans having an opinion on how a foreign presidential candidate is trying to use their country for political gain.

  • abqdan

Maybe we could slap the wall up while he’s there. I’d be willing to contribute to keep him from coming back.

He meant to say false profit.

      • boatboy_srq

Both accurate where tRump is concerned.

  • Dramphooey

“Mexico is not yours to play with, show some respect.” Clinton should send the same tweet with “The United States of America” in place of “Mexico.”

I love how CNN has a countdown clock to Trump’s speech.
Shouldn’t it just be a countdown to his next shitshow?

    • Butch

tRump and “Truth”: the only relationship is that both have five letters.

    • The_Wretched

      -And they start with T
      just the 2 things
-what about U in the middle?
Ok, ok, the only relationships is that they have the 5 letters, the T and the U
      I’ll come in again.
      – R
      WHY R?
It’s the second letter in both.
      damn it
Right so the only relationship is that they have 5 letters, the T, the U and a second position R. Any other things I need to be made aware off before I come in agian? No. Right. Here we go!

I hope the president blows him out of the water then Trump leaves with his tail between his tail

    • Friday

Then finds there’s a border wall just for him. We don’t want criminals like Trump just crossing the border into America all the time. 🙂

      • dcurlee

        I know that’s right 😂

      • GanymedeRenard

The Mexican side of the border will likely object to Trump’s remaining in Mexico. Trash belongs elsewhere (the dump of history?).

It suits me to a tittle, a ‘t’, or a tee; whichever you prefer.

  • Friday

Here’s me hoping some among Trump’s fraudulent dealings mean there’s a warrant or two out on him in Mexico. 🙂

  • Captain Obvious

It’s a fairly rare thing to see a former president so forcefully reject an action of a sitting president. You just saw it.
