IT’S GOT ELECTROLYTES: Rupert Murdoch Kills Plan To Use Idiocracy Character For Anti-Trump Ads

Mediaite reports:

Comedy filmmaker and actor Mike Judge says that 20th Century Fox hit the kill switch on his plans to resurrect one of his most beloved films in order to give commentary on the 2016 election.

“It was announced that they were anti-Trump, and I would’ve preferred to make them and then have the people decide,” Judge said. “Terry Crews had wanted to just make some funny Camacho ads, and Etan [Cohen] and I had written a few that I thought were pretty funny, and it just fell apart.”

20th Century Fox is part of Rupert Murdoch‘s media empire, and they’ve owned the rights to Idiocracy since distributing the film ten years ago. Murdoch is apparently a Donald Trump supporter, and Judge said that Fox wouldn’t let him go ahead with his revival.
