The Final Night Of The DNC In Four Minutes [VIDEO]

As they did last week for the RNC, the Los Angeles Times has edited the final night of the Democratic Convention down to four money quote-filled minutes. This one, of course, you’ll actually enjoy. Watch below.

  • Bruno

O/T: Wow, we knew Roger Ailes was a prick, but now we have more proof. http://www.advocate.com/media/2016/7/29/more-reason-despise-him-fired-fox-exec-roger-ailes-loved-f-word

    • Ugh.

    • Stephen Elliot Phillips

I cant even imagine what type of human murdoch is.
30 years of fox news right wing propaganda.
      run by bigots and chauvanists

    • another_steve

When I’m off my meds, I’m totally without scruples.

For a million dollar settlement, I would let him fondle my balls.

      • Tor

        I’m with you, hon.
You’re kinda pervy in a way I like.

    • JT

What a fat, stinking, despicable turd.

    • That_Looks_Delicious

Is anybody really surprised by that?

      • Bruno

Not anyone who’s ever watched Fox News and detested everything about it from the get-go.

    • TuuxKabin

It figures drumpf would go to the defense of this sub-human thing. May they have the death of Herod.

  • another_steve

    All that, plus the balloons.

    It was fabulous.

    • Gyeo

3000000 balloons to be exact. I think they were trying to drown the audience.

      • another_steve

The cable networks showed the guy responsible for bursting them after the crowd dispersed.

I hope there were more than one of those guys.

Them’s a lot of balloons to deflate.

        • Todd Allis

A small mace would be fun for balloon popping.

        • Flashing a full frontal of cruz should mass deflate anything.

          • another_steve

            Word.

Can’t imagine the fantasy-distancing that his wife Heidi must employ when necessary.

          • I’m sure there is a hood or two around that house.

          • Tor

Just close your eyes and wish…..

    • delk
      • another_steve

        Intern balloons?

        /snark

  • missmobtown

This convention was just the shot in the arm I needed to make it through to election day. I’m SO with her and all our other inspiring, eloquent, and on-point Dems.

  • Bad Tom

“I will be President for those who voted for me, and for those who did not vote for me.” — Hillary Clinton

Could not imagine those words coming out of the mouth of her opponent.

The Democratic Convention was a class act from beginning to end.

    • I will rule all even the losers that didn’t vote for me.*

      • another_steve

“And the Bernie kids. I’ll suckle them at my breast and tell them what they want to hear.”

        • Highmoremotel

Like what special little snowflakes they (the Bernie or Bust people) really are and to NEVER EVER compromise on their lofty dreams! Things might get done, otherwise.

          • another_steve

            Death to Wall Street.

This above all, my beloved Americans.

            Death to Wall Street.

          • Tor

It’s an artificial economy that produces no goods or services, it only moves money around. And makes a few people rich.

          • Just met one at work today. (Alleged B. or B.) He’s voting for drumph because he’s bought the republican bullshit they been slinging at the Clintons for 30 years. He also seems to think his taxes are going to be @50% to pay for “all the new stuff she’ll be giving out”. He then went on to bitch about the balloons and how much they must have cost. Oy!

          • Stephen Elliot Phillips

and he didnt think his taxes would go up a cent if sander’s ideas were implemented? He has drunk coolaid

          • Perhaps he justifies it by thinking that she won’t go after the corporations or billionaires to pay any of the tax bill because she “is one” somehow. I didn’t ask. I try to avoid hitting hornet nests with sticks.

          • Bluto

I hope you properly bitch slapped some sense into him.

          • He could pick me up and break me like a twig. In a word: no. In the interest in keeping a civil work place, I just listened.

          • Nychta

Seems Hillary was correct, years ago, about the vast right-wing conspiracy, aka the “bullshit they been slinging at the Clintons for 30 years.”

          • B Snow

He’s a Bernie or Bust-er and he’s upset that Hillary will be giving out new stuff? Like the free college educations Bernie fought to get into the platform?

That’s about as stupid as the people I work with complaining about taxes — most of our contracts are with the Federal government. smdh

        • That_Looks_Delicious

You know, looking at the breakdown of recently published polls, I don’t think there’s hardly any of them. There was a small, loud, somewhat disruptive group at the Convention who even booed Bernie, but I think they just succeeded in getting the media to make more out of them than they really are (or the media wanted to propagate that story for DRAMA and clickbait). The latest polls out yesterday and today all show Jill Stein with 1%. She gets a fraction of even what Gary Johnson gets. She is a complete non-factor in this race, as is Nina Turner.

The vast majority of Bernie’s supporters are on board and anxious to defeat Trump.

A handful of online trolls (who are probably being paid by the Russian government) and a dozen overgrown brats outside the convention yesterdathay have somehow managed to capture waaaaaaaay more attention than they merit.

          • Well , we’ll always have Bp, just like the common cold.

          • JT

Of course, it’s against Bernie and everyone else but someone who can’t win. But that part about being paid by the Rooskies … It’s effectively trolling for Drumpf anyway.

          • That_Looks_Delicious
          • JT

            The “it” was BP.

          • That_Looks_Delicious

            Aaaa-hah, got it.

Oh I hope you’re right, TLD.

The world is insane, quite insane, but surely anyone in America who’s even vaguely sane knows that a vote for anyone other than Hillary in November is a vote for Donald Trump.

Even the Sanctified Bovine “news” sources, i.e., PBS and NPR, are covering the election like it’s a reality show and a tacky one at that.

    • dcurlee

      I totally agree

    • B Snow

It echoes Obama’s acceptance speech in 2008, when he said “I’ll be your president, too” re: the people that didn’t vote for him.

  • pj

    an adult convention

  • delk

Love the hug at the end with Chelsea in red, Hillary in white, and Bill in blue.

  • Homo Erectus

That’s done, now for the senate and congress…

  • greenmanTN

Great compilation, and I thought the whole DNC rocked! The RNC? Well…we did get to see what Scott Baio looks like now, how nutty Antonio Sabato Jr is, and how how of their message is based on fear and hate.

Perhaps unreasonably, I have faith in the American people to see through Trump, and I think is going to be a rout. If it isn’t this isn’t the country I thought I lived in.

    • I’m starting to worry. The out right Hillary HATE is motivating them to fall for drumph’s con-job.

      • greenmanTN

I know what you mean, the daily polls, the mind-baffling support AT ALL for this buffoon, but don’t forget, this is the same country who elected Obama not once but twice, and the angry rabble aren’t going to overcome the absolute idiocy of a Donald Trump Presidency. I sincerely hope, from my lips to god’s ear…

        • B Snow

          I so hope you’re right.

          • greenmanTN

            Me too, baby!

  • MikeBx2

This had me crying, laughing and cheering all over again.

The message is vital that we remember always. And his Spanish is pretty darn good.

  • That_Looks_Delicious

Flashback Friday!!! Hillary and the ’96 Democrats doing the Macarena.

    Good times.

      Democrats = happy people

No Michelle? No Barrack? No Joe? No Bill?

      Good news!

  • Rebecca Gardner
    • Octavio

I suspect Trump isn’t white enough for them. 🙂

      • Snarkaholic

Even Anita Bryant would reject THAT orange!

        • Octavio

          Good one!

    • Cuberly

The rest of the GOP is thinking down-ticket races, they have to be.

    • Stephen Elliot Phillips

here comes the wrath of the orange menace against the cock bros.

  • Cuberly

OT: HA! Could be a bunch of BS, but it’s worth a laugh.

“Iceland man says Donald Trump’s son left ‘white powder’ at rental, paid 15 women to hang out”

“There was some white powder all around the apartment, someone had p..ed into the bathtub, broken the dining table and leaving the whole place in shambles. The did leave a lot of booze, which was rather popular [with me],” he said.”

Photos or, unfortunately, it didn’t happen.

Even when he gets recorded saying crazy things by 100 cameras, the next day he still claims it didn’t happen.

  • kelven

“No Donald, you don’t.” My favorite line because she delivers it so perfectly.

    • Tor

As if to an old friend.

      • kelven

I was thinking more like a child.

  • leastyebejudged

I kind of wish I had watched this instead of suffered through the whole thing with the hubby. It just went on for freakin’ ever.

    • B Snow

I couldn’t bear to watch either convention. Even the stuff I agree with would just remind me of how many people don’t agree with it.

This was a nice little video. I especially liked Chelsea’s calm, moving words.

  • Jeffrey

Since I’m already bucking for the dirty old man award today, here’s Bill Clinton’s nephew Tyler Clinton

    • That_Looks_Delicious

So that would be Chelsea’s cousin?

      • Jeffrey

        Yes, Roger’s son

        • Octavio

          Wow! That’s a big Dracaena.

          • Jeffrey

Runs in the family, I hear

O/T: There’s a new poll out of Missouri that shows Clinton ahead of Trump by 1 point, 41/40, in a race that includes third-party candidates. She usually polls well behind him in MO.

There’s a new Reuters/Ipsos poll that has Hillary in the lead by FIVE points, 40/35, BUT they are tied, 37/37, when the the goddamned SPOILERS are included. You can see: Clinton DROPS 3 points and Trump RISES by 2 when those others are included.

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_polls/president/

Meanwhile, there’s a poll out in NH that shows Trump ahead by 9 points, 48/39.

    http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2016/Pres/Maps/Jul29.html#item-10

This poll was just over a week ago. It was of registered voters, conducted on landlines only. The last time they did one was a month ago, at the end of June, when they had Trump up by 5 points. It was conducted by Inside Sources. It does NOT appear on the RCP site. Normally, Hillary tends to poll 2 to 4 points ABOVE Trump in NH.

    http://www.insidesources.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/IS-NHJ-Poll-07.26.16.pdf

    • DH Esq

The results showing Trump gaining support when including third-party candidates doesn’t make any sense to me.

Missouri with Hillary +1 is a surprise–MO hasn’t voted Democratic since 1996. Maybe that’s a Bill Clinton coattail effect?

      • That_Looks_Delicious

Some analysts have speculated Johnson appears to be pulling support equally from Clinton and Trump. The conventional wisdom is that a Libertarian candidate would pull support mainly from Republicans, but Johnson is not quite like Ron Paul, Trump is not really like Romney or McCain, and Hillary isn’t quite like Obama, so it’s weird this year. Like everything else this year.

        • Bruno

Also, people who hate both candidates are pretty much ending up choosing “anyone but.” They may choose Johnson because he’s a man and Stein is a woman or for some other dumb reason.

        • DH Esq

But what I was saying is that this poll shows Trump actually gaining in absolute terms when more choices are present, and not just gaining comparatively.

More voters would select Trump when there are four choices rather than two? That alone tells me that something is wrong with that particular poll.

          • billbear1961

            You’re right–it doesn’t make sense.

      • Bruno

It did come awfully close in 2008 though.

      • billbear1961

I think Nate Silver said, very recently, that when the third-party candidates are factored in, Hillary’s average sinks by about 1 point, bringing her much closer–even closer, I should say–to Trump.

I just read on one site that the RCP average has them tied now–Trump had been 1 point ahead of her, for the past 4 or 5 days, I think.

But when the goddamned spoiler candidates are added, he’s just over 1 point ahead of her again.

Nate Silver has said that Johnson and Stein may be hurting Hillary a bit more than Trump. But then he’ll say, maybe not.

Silver does that CONSTANTLY this year: on the one hand, but then again!

        It makes me SICK.

      • billbear1961

The site where I read about the RCP average is a right-wing site, I think, because it boasts of Trump’s bounce while claiming Hillary doesn’t have one. Well, of course NOT–the convention just ended YESTERDAY.

It amazes me how the right will just LIE to its own people.

I assume they aren’t lying about the RCP average, since one can check for oneself.

        • DH Esq

RCP generally links to right-wing editorials on its front page, but the poll presentation is generally neutral.

The only exception is that they sometimes fail to include in their average every national poll from a major pollster, so I still verify what I read there with another source.

          • billbear1961

            Thank you!

            The scoundrels!

    • That_Looks_Delicious

Yes, and what’s best is that Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted entirely last week during the GOP convention dumpster fire, so it doesn’t even factor in any bounce Hillary would have gotten from the Dem convention or from Tim Kaine yet.

    • Bruno

1.) Any poll showing them that close in Missouri is telling us something earth-shattering. However, it is just one poll and we’ll see how it looks in subsequent polls.
2.) Let’s give the national polls some time to catch up to the convention. She was behind in several national polls just a few days ago so even a tie is good news. Also, spoiler candidates tend to lose voters as Election Day gets closer.
3.) New Hampshire is a quirky state, and I’m not sure what to make of “Inside Sources.” I won’t worry about that one.

      • billbear1961

        I agree on every point.

        MO is potentially very exciting.

I should just stick to RCP, 538, electoral-vote.com, Princeton and the NY Times. (Princeton has a good record and ONLY uses STATE polls.)

If I google “presidential polls,” I can get MANY sites, all contradicting one another.

It’s bad enough that 538 is more pessimistic than the other big prediction sites, although their polls-plus now has her up at around 62%, 9 points higher than polls-only. Their now-cast, if the election were TODAY, has them almost even, 48/52. That’s not good, but she HAD fallen WAY behind in THAT forecast.

I saw you posting today on a thread where you seemed quite optimistic, Bruno.

You were at a 6 on the 1 to 10 scale.

        Where are you now?

CJ is at a 7 for Hillary to win. He thinks that IF Trump wins, the chances are 9 out of 10 that they’ll have to prevent him from taking office, or staying long in office.

        • Bruno

I’m going to say 5 out of 10 at the moment. The other shoe dropped after the Republican convention. It proved to me that tRump is not unelectable, and that was devastating. I AM optimistic, however, that there will be a big bounce from the Dem convention. If it’s big, I’ll likely move my number back up. Hey, even Nate Silver says what he does is basically an intricate math-y educated guess. But I’ll need to see some good poll numbers. To tell you the truth, I’m very worried about the time between today and the first debate on September 26th. That’s almost 2 full months of Donald tRump bloviating lectures to the press, while Hillary sticks to the campaign trail. I hope they can figure out a way to keep the limelight from solely being on him. I know she’ll kick his ass in the debates though, if he shows up.

          • billbear1961

After recent events surrounding the hacking, we have a RIGHT to see those TAX RETURNS.

Damn it–this is a matter of national security!

If any other candidate’s financial ties to another nation were as suspicious as his, a nation he is strangely favouring, a nation he–in an unprecedented act for ANY candidate for POTUS–called upon to launch a cyberattack on his OWN country (and the attacks have grown WORSE since he did), ACTION would be taken.

You KNOW neither Congress nor the media would let Hillary or ANY other candidate get away with a similar act.

Many GOP people who have worked for national security in past GOP administrations are OUTRAGED by his disloyal and bizarre behaviour, and deeply concerned about it. They basically say it makes him UNFIT to be POTUS!! They consider this a GRAVE matter, a disqualifying ACT.

David Caster said THIS to me today:

Do keep in mind that Trump’s tax returns are in the hands of the IRS. The FBI and CIA can easily gain access to them under the euphemistically named USA Freedom Act, which replaced the Patriot Act.

            Bruno, Trump cannot be TRUSTED.

Something has to be done! Our suspicions are reasonable and JUSTIFIED, and–Christ!–we have a RIGHT to know the TRUTH!!

            http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/cover_story/2016/07/vladimir_putin_has_a_plan_for_destroying_the_west_and_it_looks_a_lot_like.html

THAT man is a swindler and a LIAR! He’s up to his NECK in the money of Russian oligarchs!

Political leaders, the media, the people–we ALL must INSIST on a thorough investigation, and it STARTS with those goddamned TAX RETURNS!!

We must NOT let this go!

For a CHANGE, we must INSIST on ANSWERS!!

Bruno, he wants to be POTUS and he’s HIDING something, and I think we have a pretty good idea WHAT he’s hiding!!

Bruno, is an entire nation incapable of standing up to that ONE fat-mouthed JACKASS?!

Have we become THAT fucking PATHETIC?!

He’s has NO RIGHT to ask for ANYONE’S vote while he’s obviously hiding something BIG!!

You may have seen Manafort in an interview discussing Trump, Russia, and Trump’s tax returns. That man–who has worked for DICTATORS–who has financial ties to Russian oligarchs himself–was LYING!! (Just as he told a baldfaced LIE about the plagiarism!)

Trump becomes almost incoherent when he’s cornered, because he’s a LIAR. We KNOW that! He tells us all the time he doesn’t say what we KNOW he’s SAID!! “I’ve met Putin. No, I haven’t.”

When they are asked if Russian oligarchs number among Trump’s investors, neither Manafort nor Trump will ANSWER!!

Damn it–we will SEE those TAX RETURNS!!

          • Bruno

Hang in there, Bill! Hillary is +15 (+10 bounce) in a poll today. Not a known quantity firm, but it’s bipartisan and hopefully other ones will show a big bounce too.

        • Sam_Handwich

i don’t think trump can win FL, CO, NV, PA, or VA.

          • billbear1961

Of those, the only one where he’s currently in a clear lead–according to electoral-vote.com–is NV.

If he gets the Romney states, but fails to capture PA and FL, I think they say it’s almost impossible for him to win.

      • JustSayin’

To your first point it was 625 people so it is crap.

        • billbear1961

          Well, damn it!

Why did RCP include it, then?

        • Bruno

That is pretty small. Mason-Dixon is I think somewhat well-respected, although maybe I’ve heard it actually has a +R lean? Anyway, more polling needed. If Missouri is +5 tRump or better, Clinton will win the election.

    • Sam_Handwich

my favorite statistic from the 2008 election

McCain won Missouri by a margin of 4,000 votes out of 3 million cast

      • billbear1961

I remember how close it was!

Didn’t it take them quite a while to reach the final tally?

        • Sam_Handwich

          yep!

and it would have been nice, but Indiana was nicer!

          • billbear1961

Yes, Obama WON Indiana THAT time, didn’t he?

But just by a sliver, I think.

He also got one of Nebraska’s EVs in 2008, which infuriated the cons.

They did something–can’t remember what–to “make sure that would never happen again.”

          • Sam_Handwich

read the 4th circuit court ruling from today on NC’s voting laws

it’s outrageous how overt the racism is

          • billbear1961

Yes, I have. Imagine what will happen if the GOP wins control of the entire federal government.

Do you have any idea how likely a stay is while the ruling is being appealed?

I hope neither the 4th nor SCOTUS will stay the ruling.

If it’s stayed, an injustice will obviously be committed, and many will be denied their right to vote.

This ruling and some other recent ones like it are GREAT news, but one remains uneasy until we hear they will NOT be stayed during appeal.

I hope this is not the last gasp of the republic before a fascist victory in the election.

      • lymis

My least favorite statistical memory is that enough Gore voters stayed home in Florida for the Supreme Court to hand the presidency to Bush.

If the margin had been enough higher, there would have been no need for the whole “hanging chad” recount drama.

    • JustSayin’

The first poll you show is of 625 people. St. Louis dispatch online paper. no surprise. All white ..
The reuters at +5 was based on 1400 or so likely voters. Again With landlines. Means old white people who answer the phone..

Please folks STOP listening to these polls with your hearts! They mean fucking squat at this point. For example the first poll of 625. The same paper two days prior posted another poll of trump +10 based on 274 respondents¡

The 2nd week in october, then worry but not until then!

      • B Snow

Eh, I think we should worry. We should all be scared so shitless that we run out NOW and help register voters, put yardsigns up, organize carpools on election day. We should work this election like it’s our last one ever, because it could be. The recent stories about courts overturning voter suppression laws? Kiss those rulings goodbye if Trump nominates two Supreme Court Justices.

Dammit, now I’m scaring myself and I won’t be able to sleep. 🙁 I did see on Rachel Maddow tonight that there’s no way any candidate can win without the Hispanic vote, and Trump is currently polling at 14% with HIspanics. Which, honestly, seems surprisingly high….But that made me feel a little better. We still need to work, though.

IMO no matter what the polls say, anyone who doesn’t want der Trumpenfuhrer in the White House should assume that he’s slightly ahead and every single vote is essential. Right through Election Day.

We are far better off being concerned than complacent.

Remember Prop 8, that couldn’t possibly pass because the polls showed it losing by a mile? SAN FRANCISCO voters stayed home. If every gay person in San Francisco had voted, it would have failed.

We can’t let any polls that show Trump is winning cause us to give up, but we can’t let any polls that show Clinton is winning cause us to relax.

The NH poll – landlines only? A good way to concentrate on older regressive white folks. (BTW, I’m an older white folk, so I feel comfortable deriding my temporal and racial peers. However, older and white is where the resemblance ends.)

Wow, I was hoping to end with Bill playing with the balloons.

Oh well, will have accept this amazing line of quotes as compromise.

The local evening news in Nevada: Currently, there are 60,00+ more registered Democrats on the voting rolls than there are Repubican’ts. We need to register 100,000+ more ASAP.

edit: Not only are they wearing contrasting colors and when saying the same words in different order and one being male the other female, the most subtle item in this cartoon is Heller’s ability to even weigh the idea that Trump is a top down man while Hillary is bottom up organizer. Top down is authoritarian, bottom up is coalition building in a democratic way, with a wider base because she is for US.
