Donald Trump’s Freedom Kids To Sue Donald Trump

From the Washington Post:

Within hours of their performance at a Donald Trump rally in Pensacola, Fla., last January, the U.S.A. Freedom Kids were a sensation. You remember the video: Three preteen girls in star-spangled outfits crisply working through simple choreography as they lip-synced an upbeat update to “Over There.”

Jeff Popick, father of the smallest Freedom Kid and author of “Freedom’s Call” (the song performed at the Trump rally), told The Washington Post by phone on Monday that he planned to file a lawsuit against the campaign for violating its agreement with the group.

“This is not a billion-dollar lawsuit,” Popick said. “I’m doing this because I think they have to do the right thing. And if this means having to go through the court system to enforce them doing the right thing, then that’s what I have to do. I’m not looking to do battle with the Trump campaign, but I have to show my girls that this is the right thing.”

  • DH Esq

Trump didn’t honor an agreement? I am shocked.

    • Cboulder

The mind boggles, does it not?

      • TrollopeReader

one needs a mind in order to be boggled. Trump should wear a warning: “Prolonged contact (or contract) will be unhealthy to you.”

        • JustSayin’

I wonder if they make a condom that would allow safe Trump-Contracting? naw that walking orange-STD will rot anything…

        • rusty57

Can he be sued for that?
My Beloved says that after watching the chaos in Cleveland last week I’m not my usual self.

    • Buford

In all seriousness, this is the essence of Trump. We know now that his business model consists of reneging on deals mid-stream and forcing his suppliers/contractors to either take far less than they agreed to take or to fight him in court to obtain payment at all.

He’s a crook… a fraud… a con man… and it’s unconscionable that a large portion of this country trust him to help make their lives better despite knowing all of this.

      • nowhereman

Well, the first thing that the christian jihadis did was to take over the public school systems in their areas and then dumbed them down. The first graduates of the new system are now in congress.

          • Joseph Miceli

No…I’ve heard this before. I think Mother Jones and Rollling Stones both had something on this, but I can’t get the Google to give me the citation.
It does stand to reason. After all, Trump might make money, but the people who sell him goods and loan him money don’t. They just get bankruptcy court.

          • The_Wretched

Are you knee jerking since you don’t want to believe that Donald’s endless scamming and court cases really upset the bankers who don’t like BS?

The Donald is tainted. He’s not a good man.

      This happened this week …

Trump Tries to Stiff Small Business – Gets Nailed for $300,000 in Attorney’s Fees

Trump stiffed The Paint Spot $34K, claiming it had been “paid enough” regardless of the contract he had signed

Apparently The Paint Spot did a job for Trump and Trump failed to make a final payment of $34,863 on a $200,000 bill for paint used at the resort. The guy who thinks he is immune to all laws – and indeed, the United States Constitution – figured The Paint Spot had been “paid enough” regardless of the contract his company had signed.

The Miami Herald reported Friday that “Circuit Court Judge Jorge Cueto, presiding over a lawsuit related to unpaid bills brought by a local paint store against the Trump National Doral Miami golf resort, ordered the billionaire politician’s company to pay the Doral-based mom-and-pop shop nearly $300,000 in attorney’s fees.”

  • TampaDink

Does this guy think that he stands a chance against someone who lives from one frivolous lawsuit to the next? I saw a news item yesterday telling about the parents of a Tallahassee h.s. student who are suing because their daughter didn’t make the cheerleading squad. Meanwhile the parents of the kid killed earlier this summer by a gator at Disney World have announced that they will not sue.

  • I can’t read the full article because I’ve reached my limit of Washington Post articles for the month, where I’m sure it would be made clear. But this snippet doesn’t actually say what they’re suing over. Can anyone clarify?

    • bkmn

Corey Lewandowski offered them a table to sell their CD’s after appearing at a Trump campaign stop, in lieu of the $2500 the group had been asking for. Big surprise there was no table available at the venue.

      • Wow. Thank you.

        • bkmn

          Glad to be of assistance.

        • madknits

          It’s only 250 CDs at $10 each.
That crowd would have bought them, multiple copies, too, for Christmas presents.

        • bkmn

Its pretty obvious that daddy is not the brightest…

    • Charlie 2001

Apparently these kids have some kind of album the campaign said they would help promote by giving them a table to sell at the rally. Also the father put out money to take the kids to an event but was never reimbursed. But these were verbal promises from the campaign without contracts so if Trump acts the way he usually does they are screwed.

      • lymis

Actually, the CD table was what the campaign agreed to when they stiffed them by cancelling one of their appearances after they put out personal money to show up. And then they didn’t even bother to arrange for the card table.

Subsequently, they agreed to another campaign appearance, paid their own money to get there, only to be told that they were cancelled – again without reimbursement (though again, without getting it in writing or paid in advance.)

  • NancyP

Trump stiffed the group by not providing a table for the sale of CDs. A single folding table at an event, how hard is that?

    • TampaDink

All of the folding tables were reserved for selling “make America grate again” hats.

After the job is done, trump says “This is what I think that was worth. If you don’t like it, sue me” (knowing he pays a stable of attorneys).

      • ceeenbee

Thank you and apologies to Joe. I didn’t see there was a link to full story.

O/T – good read about what kind of ties Trump has to Russia…
    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/why-did-trump-dodge-the-russia-question

It may also have something to do with why Trump won’t release his tax returns.

    • JustSayin’

it is definitely part of why he will not release the tax returns. Major U.S. Banks simply refuse to do business with him since he has fucked over most of them. Russia and Russians are about the only people lending him money and buying memberships at his golf clubs. Putin is his butt buddy

      • bkmn

The only bank with a presence in the US that will loan him money is Deutschebank. I would advise anyone with money in DB to get it out of there ASAP.

        • JustSayin’

DB happens to be a client of mine for other reasons than deposit accounts or straight line loans. I am pretty sure it is NOT the U.S. DB companies that are lending him money, but the European and Russian investment companies under that brand.

        • Stev84

Maybe not anymore after he refused to repay his loans and sued them.

    • billbear1961

What *I* want to know is how LONG it’s going to take for this info–and the QUESTIONS that it MUST provoke–to go MAINSTREAM in a BIG way!!

The corporate WHORES of the mainstream media seem most reluctant to harm–in ANY way–their orange CASH COW.

      The despicable BASTARDS!!

If CLINTON were operating under this kind of truly SINISTER cloud, we all KNOW that, egged on by Trump and the GOP, the media would fucking CRUCIFY her!!

      • bkmn

It really is amazing billbear since the journalists are always the first ones jailed when a dictator assumes power, and I have no doubt that Trump would rule like a dictator.

        • JW Swift

He’s already been threatening them. He’s claimed that he wants to change the libel laws so that it’ll be easier to sue them when they say anything about him that he doesn’t like.

  • DuaneBidoux

Although I am sure it does happen I still believe it is more common than not that a wealthy person has left behind a trail of tears and blood to get that way.

Although I am not a betting man I would bet that Clinton (and a lot of conservatives who can’t publicly admit they are more terrified of Trump than Clinton) are sitting quietly on a motherlode of shit that will make this seem like a stubbed toe compared to an airliner crash.

I hope you can stand leaky faucets because it will be drip drip drip leading up to the election.

If the race looks like Trump could win get ready for the drips to become a tidal wave. Can anyone say “this could give new meaning” to the term October Surprise?

    • Treant

So I’ve assumed. There are tons of people who’ve been burned by The Donald, and tons of stories of grift and corruption…not to mention some downright illegal activities, I’m bettin’.

Fun sidenote: I met his nephew (I think, it’s been a long time, but the relationship was around that close) once, many years ago. The guy could not stand his uncle.

      • lymis

Betcha he’s not all that fond of his cousins, either.

    • TampaDink

Too bad the media won’t vet Clinton like they have poor don the con. Why haven’t people paid any attention to anything that she has ever done? Someone should open up an investigation into her actions. But NOOOOO she gets a complete pass and poor don the con gets scrutinized over every divorce & bankruptcy. No wonder he doesn’t want to release his tax records.. he is too humble to allow the public to know that he’s been paying taxes on 99 percent of every penny he’s ever earned. I feel so bad for him.

just for information Hufpo has the full lyrics and frankly Gen. George Patton has to be rolling in his grave over how the song written about and dedicated to him has been fucked up.

    The lyrics:

    Cowardice

    Are you serious?

    Apologies for freedom

    I can’t handle this!

    When freedom rings

    Answer the call!

    On your feet!

    Stand up tall!

    Freedom’s on our shoulders

    USA!

    Enemies of freedom

    Face the music

Come on, boys. Take ‘em down!

    President Donald Trump knows how

    To make America great

Deal from strength or get crushed every time

    Over here…

    USA!

    Over there…

    USA!

    Freedom and liberty everywhere

    Oh, say can you see

    It’s not so easy

But we have to stand up tall and answer freedom’s call

    USA!

    USA!

    USA!

We’re the land of the free and the brave. USA!

    USA!

The stars and stripes are flying

    Let’s celebrate our freedom

Inspire, proudly, freedom to the world

    Ameri-tude

    USA!

    American pride

    USA!

It’s attitude, it’s who we are

    Stand up tall

We’re the red, white, and blue

    Fiercely free, that’s who!

Our colors don’t run, no sirree

    Over here…

    USA!

    Over there…

    USA!

    Freedom and liberty everywhere

    Oh, say can you see

    It’s not so easy

      • Lumpy Gaga

No, just knocked up and living the Palin dream.

  • Stupidity and greed all around. But it once again illustrates ease with which Trump (and his entire organization) uses and exploits people. Even children. Obviously it wouldn’t have been a big deal to pick up the travel expenses for these kids and their family. But Trump’s a total cheapskate in that way.

They even said they’d pick up their own expenses if the Trump people just set up a table at the campaign event so they could sell their homemade CDs. The campaign blew ’em off and then never made it right.

Then apparently the girls were going to perform again, but it was left up to them to make their own travel arrangements with thousands of bucks out of pocket for the family — and then it was canceled and the Popicks left hanging again.

Just maybe Mr. Popick and his daughters will learn that some men are simply not to be trusted. Especially the ones named Trump.

Is Drumpf’s wealth built on simply not paying people? Genius.

    • KarenAtFOH

Why pay when you can just steal?

  • Spudger

Sorry he got jacked around – but at the same time, who conducts business like this? Oh wait. Trump voter. Credulous to the point of idiocy.

Guys, if you’re trading money for services and vice versa, get it written down. You don’t even necessarily need a lawyer – it just has to be documented in some form so in cases like this, you have evidence. Even a promise made in email can be construed as a legal agreement in a court case, though it’s still far easier to destroy in court than a properly supervised contract written by a lawyer.

When in doubt, ask yourself, what would Mike Monteiro do?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVkLVRt6c1U

    • Spudger

note: he uses “bottom” in a not so accurate way, but hey, straight folks living in the mission. At least he’s trying?

    • Randy503

YES! I’m a former lawyer, and I get these issues all the time with friends who want my help. GET IT IN WRITING! And it doesn’t have to be a formal document with the word Contract written in Gothic letters. It can be a simple exchange of emails. The point is that you say, “I will do this, and in exchange you will do that. Do you agree?” Then another email from the other person who says, “Yes.” Then, if you do what you said you promise to do, the other person is obligated to do what THEY agreed to do. That is a contract, legally binding in all states.

Please always confirm everything in an email at the least!

  • KarenAtFOH

The narcissist thinking on this goes like, “If they were dumb enough to not ask me for an agreement in writing, then they deserve to be taken advantage of.” Seriously. Saw it with my old boss. Just happened to me with someone else who seemed really trustworthy.

    • Treant

That’s saved my butt a time or two. Most notably, with a job offer. Once I asked for the terms we discussed in writing, it’s amazing how fast they backtracked.

Maybe someone should educate business leaders that right winger and their policies are destabilizing and increase uncertainty. If Putin is willing to pay for it, surely there’s a case to be made.

We already have evidence that promoting tolerance in the workplace increases productivity. It stands to reason that promoting anti-tolerance hurts stability.

    • lymis

Why? They agreed to perform, they put out personal money to be present, they weren’t reimbursed, and the other side didn’t keep their end of the bargain.
