FLORIDA: Lawyer Seeks Bribery Charges Against Pam Bondi And Donald Trump Over Campaign Donation

From the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel:

A Massachusetts lawyer who previously filed state ethics and elections complaints against Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has asked federal prosecutors to level bribery charges against her and Donald Trump.

Whitfield Larrabee, a Boston trial attorney, filed complaints with U.S. Attorney’s offices in New York and Tallahassee on Wednesday alleging the violation of federal bribery laws stemming from Bondi’s personal solicitation of $25,000 from Trump in 2013 for her political committee.

The Orlando Sentinel reported on Sept. 13, 2013 that Bondi’s office was looking into the Trump complaints. Campaign finance records show Bondi’s political committee, And Justice for All, received the $25,000 donation from Trump on Sept. 17, 2013.

“Evidence strongly indicates that Bondi’s decision not to initiate or participate in litigation against Trump University was given in exchange for Trump’s contribution based on the short time period between the receipt of the political contribution and the announcement of Bondi’s decision not to participate in the New York litigation,” Larrabee’s complaint states.

According to the Associated Press, Bondi personally solicited the bribe from Trump.

Bondi is the CEO of Whoring for Drumpf.

When you get in bed with the devil.

  • TallBearNC

I wonder what would happen if Donald Trump got convicted of something like that because that would be a felony and would make him in valid to run for president… I doubt that GOP could get a candidate up and going fast enough to beat Hillary…technically there are other presidential candidates but they’re just not well know..i’m guessing the election would go on as normal but Hilary would be the only main candidate

    • TampaDink

A felon running for POTUS? IOKIYAR.

    • Skokieguy [Larry]

The legal process can be dragged out for years. The trial for the University scam is being delayed till after the elections.

    • another_steve

What Larry said, plus no judge would issue a ruling prior to the election — innocent or guilty — even if it were possible to do so. That would be seen as interfering in the election process and would result in the Mother of All Shitstorms

      • TallBearNC

I highly doubt that if it was clear cut that he was guilty of ruling would definitely be guess you before the election because there are many judges I do not want to see him elected

      • TallBearNC

And if he got elected and later convicted, he would be instantly removed as president

        • Tulle Christensen

Naw he would just pardon himself

        • another_steve

This scandal plus the Trump University court case will make lovely TV ads for the Democrats in the fall.

Just like the endless Hillary email “scandal” is working for the Repubs, this will work for the Dems.

        • charemor

          Now THAT would be beautiful!

    • ScottJ

I also don’t think that the Constitution has any prohibition based on felony conviction.Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 states, “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

    • LovesIrony

these things seem to take forever to wind through the court. I finally was able to talk to someone in the special prosecutor’s office on the fraud case against texas lt. governor. I was simply trying to find out the next court date, the court couldn’t tell me, the state office that would normally handle such cases was actually quite rude and said they can not talk about this case. I was only asking for next court date. This is normally public record, I searched and searched and am aware of the appeal and denial of appeal and that there was at least one more appeal before trial. My second call to the special prosecutors office was finally returned. No date has been set yet for the next appeal. This shit is out of control. He was indicted in August of 2015 and is playing the system and the system willingly goes along. So if trump bondi aren’t even indicted yet, it will be fucking years before anything happens to either.

    • ScottJ

Now, if he were convicted after he was elected, that would be grounds for impeachment…”The Constitution sets specific grounds for impeachment. They are “treason, bribery, and other high crimes and misdemeanors.” To be impeached and removed from office, the House and Senate must find that the official committed one of these acts.”

      • lymis

Not sure if that applies to such crimes that were not engaged in while in office. It OUGHT to, but it might not.

    • Traxley Launderette

His fan base would love to see him martyred by the libruls and ileetes.

  • Jamie_Johnson

Of course, now the problem is that the Supreme Court has legalized such political bribery…

    • Gustav2

Would not investigating or stopping the investigation be considered “an official act?” I would think would,

      • lymis

The analysis I’ve seen pretty much felt that you’d actually have to have documented evidence of “Send me money and I’ll drop the lawsuit,” and even then, proof that the person in question sent it.

If she solicited and received campaign funds from anyone else, and if she made decisions to join other lawsuits or not, then, probably, under the new SCOTUS ruling, it would legally be a coincidence.

        • Gustav2

So you have to have recordings llike Rod Blagojevich

          • Tulle Christensen

Or memos, or e-mails, or notes on cancelled checks. yea some kind of smoking gun

          • Gustav2

That is hilarious, my government worker hubby can’t be taken lunch by former co-workers because they now work for private contractors. We can go to one woman’s home for a party this 5th of July, but a lunch…OMG!

And he has no say in awarding the contracts.

    • Uncle Mark

Actually, a direct contribution resulting in a favorable action from a politician could be considered bribery…as in the case of Trump’s donation. This will be hard enough to prove (see the results from the bribery case against a VA governor.) SuperPacs, on the other hand, are allegedly forbidden to convey wishes or plans to the politician, and proof of bribery in this instance is almost impossible, unless you can find documentation.

    • safari

The supreme court left it up to the politicos to tighten the law. They found the broad interpretation of the bribery law problematic.

      • Jamie_Johnson

Because letting the foxes define what’s guarding the hen house ─ or not ─ is a great idea!

Oh you went and done it… invoked the name of Divine, Blessed Saint and Never-Virgin of Baltimore Maryland. My near-hometown.

For John Waters lovers in the area, The American Visionary Art Museum in downtown is running a special exhibit through September 4th of Bobby Adams’ photos of the early Waters entourage, including Divine and the fabulously young and gorgeous Johnny Depp.

          Highly recommended.

A smart prosecutor would see this as an opportunity to get Blondi on the stand with some immunity and go after governor Skeletor. She is small potatoes.

The goddamned CROOKS are ALREADY doing it in MANY of the states where they control the state and local governments!!

If they get hold of all the levers of power federally, they will DESTROY this democratic republic!

Let’s see what else Pammypoo has done:

Soooo….she’s against medical use of pot, against environmental quality, against whistle-blowing and transparency in government, against reproductive rights and choice, against gay rights and lying about it to boot, and of course against health care for anyone but the one percent–in addition, of course, to her own corruption in taking money from Trump.

The very picture of the modern reactionary whore.

    • Octavio

She is the very model of a modern major Republican
She has secret information bribes indictments and deplorable,

Gregg Abbott and Ken Paxton need to be included in this lawsuit or be served with their own.

    • billbear1961

    • david fairfield

Paxton is the most vile of them all.

  • Of course it was a bribe. And it happens ALL THE FUCKING TIME because our corrupt Supreme Court (with at least two justices who took bribes themselves) decided that money equals speech. If money equals speech then bribery is legal. It’s fucked up and it’s the reason we need a court that isn’t on the take to fix the mess Scalia and company created with Citizens United and other rulings.

  • D. J.

Hopefully she has pissed off all the right people….that can make this stick.

  • James

So, let’s see. The presumptive Republican nominee for president currently has cases before the court alleging he raped a child, and committed fraud, and he may soon have another one for bribery. Have I missed any?
