Pastor Kevin Swanson: Orlando’s Gays Had It Coming Because God Gives Up On Such Sinners [AUDIO]

Via Right Wing Watch:

Yesterday, Colorado-based pastor Kevin Swanson addressed the massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando by arguing that homosexuality and Islam are both inherently violent because God gives gay people and Muslims up to their dishonorable ways and other sins like murder.

“Why do homosexuals murder homosexuals?” he asked. Because, according to Romans 1, “God gave them up to vile passions.” “Violence” and “murder,” he said, are deeply tied to homosexuality.

“What’s the bottom line as we view what’s happening in Orlando today?” he said. “I think it is, again, the Romans 1 scenario, it is that God gives them up.”

The Orlando massacre, Swanson added, shows what happens when God’s “restraints have been lifted entirely and when God doesn’t restrain, people go nuts in their sins.”

Last fall Swanson called for executing homosexuals just before welcoming Ted Cruz onto the stage for an interview. Earlier this year he called for executing Girl Scouts leaders for supporting LGBT rights.

    Dear “Pastor” Swanson,

    • johncAtl

I had to scroll the page to see the last word. I was expecting it to be “mind.”

      • AtticusP

        That fits, too! 🙂

      • Ernest Endevor

        me too

    • Mark Neé Fuzz

Yeah, I was gonna say marbles.

    • Gerry Fisher

“I’m being compassionate by wishing death on you. No?!”

    • WebSlinger

You say, “How could this tragedy happen?” It happened because Omar Mateen’s hate was born and bred in America, not overseas.

-2 weeks ago you were calling trans men/women child predators.

-1 year ago you were saying that our marriages shouldn’t be recognized.

-6 years ago you were saying that gay men and women couldn’t die for their country.

-10 years ago you told us we didn’t deserve job protections.

-13 years ago it took Lawrence v. Texas to decriminalize our sex lives.

-18 years ago you took Matthew Shepard.

-23 years ago you took Brandon Teena.

-36 years ago the American Government sat silently for 5 years as 10,000 gay men were massacred by the AIDS virus.

43 years ago we were still considered mentally ill.

-47 years ago the riots of Stonewall began.

For centuries this country has bred homophobia into our history, into our schools, and into the very fabric of society.

Omar Mateen was the product of American hate. America taught him this, and even sold him the gun to do it. – Elle Barts

      • ExGayTherapyKills

Gun Store Owner: We Alerted FBI to ‘Suspicious’ Customer, Omar Marteen, Weeks Before Orlando Shooting, so why didn’t the FBI do something.

      • marigrace

Omar Mateen was a product of a religion that believes gay people must be killed. To say otherwise is an out and out lie. However using this same logic, Hillary Clinton’s foundation accepted millions of dollars from countries that kill gay people. Does that make those who support her complicate in the brutal murders of gay people in those countries? I think it does. Those in the gay community who support Hillary, need only look at themselves when it comes to the killing of gay people in countries that support Sharia law. Instead of consistently blaming everyone else, other than the shooter and his religion, for these murders, they need to take a good hard look at themselves.

BTW, Pastor Swanson, wrong in so many ways.

        • wds

So your simple solution is to elect T Rump then?

          • marigrace

There is no simple solution. Neither are fit to be president.

        • 1withCosmos

Omar Mateen was the product of two religions (Christianity and Islam) that believe glbt persons deserve death and should be killed or as the subject of this article has said several times – executed. Christianity is just as guilty of creating Mateen, if not more guilty. Omar Mateen was a American born citizen first and no one should ever forget that fact. He participated in a religion second, his religious beliefs come in second at best. Religion really does hurt humanity either as a casualty of war between the different religious beliefs or as direct targets of the individual ideological belief systems.

          • marigrace

Omar Mateen was a product of one religion, and that is radical Islam. Christianity had no part in his life, so please do not blame Christianity for the actions of a radical Muslim . And true Christians believe Jesus’ words, that we are to love our neighbor as ourselves, and that includes gay people. People like Kevin Swanson, should go read the teachings of Jesus on the sermon on the mount, before he spouts his crap.

          • 1withCosmos

There is no such thing as a “true” or “real” christian. There is simply either – you are or you aren’t a christian. The bible and christians will tell you there is only one way to be a christian, so there is only “is or isn’t.” It is amazing that you people spend so much time pigeon holing everyone including your own followers(believers). With the grading system you christians put on each other and then others, it is a wonder you can get anyone to follow you at all. At one point in time I just couldn’t take all the strife and stress of trying to figure out what percentage christian I was and constantly fighting to stay a good, true and real christian. Requires more time than any person has on this planet in order to constantly comply. You can stay with a belief system that has you trying all your life to attain its rewards when in fact it is a no win scenario and if you sit around convinced you already have your reward then the world goes by, you become bitter and wanting to have your promise now instead of later. This makes one bitter, lonely and sometimes desperate. I watched a loved one descend down this path because she believed in that reward that christianity teaches and she was so despondent and depressed that she died years before her time (because she quit seeing her doctors and taking her medicines) just to get to heaven and out of this sick world as she was led to believe it was through her involvement in christianity. Religion can cause anyone to give up on life and their time on this planet, as short as it is, in order to get their reward of heaven. That is the sickness and harm religion causes and I despise them all. When either religion can harm people by misleading them so, it makes no difference as I said, both created him by the religious battle between the two that has been going on so long. It makes no difference which one he chose, he was a loser either way. Also you tell Kevin and others to go read the bible and they would in turn tell you to go read your bible, so where does that leave you. I guarantee that you all will have different interpretations of what you read and none will ever come to a consensus, always trying to sway the others to each one’s “correct” reading or interpretation of their holy scriptures. The only time someone else’s beliefs bother me is when I am told without justification that I am lost without adapting my beliefs to theirs. And for the past 3 decades no one, I repeat no one has justified their religious beliefs to me so as to convince me I should change anything about the things I believe or don’t, or the things I accept or refuse. Christians as well as Muslims do not have a compelling argument to accept their theology accept force or fear and neither one of those derive from that love which you so freely speak of yet which is so elusive to even yourself.

          • marigrace

You have some valid points. Let’s put religion, Christianity etc. aside. Do you believe if people would follow the teachings on Jesus the sermon of the mount, (in the Book of Matthew) this world would be a much better place?

I don’t know how much you know about the KKK, but in its early 20th century iteration, it was VERY anti-Catholic (this is when the Klan hit peak membership). The cartoon above is probably from the 1920s (or thereabouts). Note the smiling Klansman is holding a Bible, and the flag, sitting on top of the fallen Pope (you can tell by the “triple tiara”).

Looks like it’s open season on gays in the US. Better have your passports ready, Gang.

  • Cuberly

Sure seems the more extreme reactions to the massacre come from these sorts. The screacher preachers that seem to head cults, specific churches that are just ever so fringy from the rest. Not that I don’t regard most churches as cults. But you know what I mean.

The personality driven congregations if you will. Fill the pews with haters that share the hate, then stand up there and scream at them.

Fuck you and your cult of myths and hate.

I’ve said it a million times before. Most of those evangelicals think the same as Westboro Baptist Church, except that they will not admit it because they don’t want to be as unpopular as WBC.

What an odd message. Yes it is. The religious show us that every single day.

religious gays wear heavy-duty blinders. there’s no removing them.

  • Henri205

    Why do homosexuals murder homosexuals?

I don’t know, you (I get to use this again) hoofwanking bunglecunt. Why do heterosexuals murder heterosexuals? Is there a verse in your book of fairy tales that explains that? Ignorant douchebag.

Evidently, there are still a shit load of D-List assholes with 15 minutes we haven’t heard from yet.

  • Matt in PDX

Any belief system that forces one to posit a God who is less capable of compassion, generosity, and decency than the human beings he allegedly created is (to use a theological term) seriously fucked up.

Another pompous, vindictive asshole, jacked up on righteousness, feverishly imagining a God small enough to fit into his tiny tiny mind.

  • Joe in PA

when God’s “restraints have been lifted entirely and when God doesn’t restrain, people go nuts in their sins.

I had a rather spirited “discussion” with my sister-in-law and her husband (evangelicals don’t ‘cha know) about this very topic. As if THAT is the only thing holding everyone back from killing everyone else. Oy. It was dumbfounding. My husband had to stop the discussion. Ok, there might have been some alcohol involved. 🙁

    • TampaDink

I’m SURE that the alcohol wasn’t flowing for your evil-gelical relatives.

      • TrollopeReader

…aren’t they the ones that go to the next county to get the booze, forgetting that’s where 1/2 their church also goes ??

        • TampaDink

Probably. Typical southern baptists (batshits) don’t recognize same sex marriages any more than they recognize each other in a liquor store.

  • Cboulder

I was just asking myself when Dog gave up on him, because a douche who thinks that Girl Scouts should have millstones tied around their necks before pushing them into a river seems to be far outside of Dog’s favor. That pesky “thou shalt not kill ” bit is such a burden to these “Dog is love ” types.

  • Gee, once again Swanson invokes a deity who conveniently hates all of the same people he does to show us all once again just how sociopathic, empathically devoid and morally depraved he himself really is.

  • WaffleWolfer

But when the buybull tells you to kill gays, that’s not murder because gawd said it. Derp.

I’m just so drained of outrage I don’t think I have any left. To this broken person’s diatribe I have only this to say: He’s no better than he should be.

So we’re gay because we were idolaters first.

I wish these morans would learn how to read, even if it is the “Holy” book.

  • Skokieguy [Larry]

Kevin, we don’t condone violence here and I normally don’t wish bad things for people even my enemies. But you, you pustule on humanity, I will simply wish that ‘god’ gives you cancer and you die a slow, horrible death. You will pray and those around you will pray and it will do absolutely nothing. Perhaps, before you die, you will realize that your entire life has been wasted, everything you passionately believe in is false, and you are in fact, evil. Your life has been devoted to hate and hurting others.

You should consider cremation, because if you are buried, they will be a long line of us waiting to piss on your grave.

He is very lucky Pagans do not feed meat like him to lions anymore and the lions are lucky because to feed his toxic mentally unstable, genocidal, blood thirsty, waste of life, non-human barbarian flesh would be animal cruelty, Cruel to the noble lion that is.

    P.S.

    • Sean

      P.S.2.

3yo Ronnie Paris Jr. was killed by his Christian anti-LGBT father because he thought his 3yo baby was gay, 43yo Danny Overstreet was killed in 2000 by a Christian in Roanoke, VA who also went to a gay bar to kill LGBT people, Gary Matson & Winfield Mowder were killed inside their own home in 1999 by white-supremacist Christian anti-LGBT brothers who were also sentenced for firebombing synagogues & abortion clinics, & the Otherside Lounge (a lesbian bar) was also bombed by a Christian in 1997 Atlanta, GA.

3.3 millions Muslims in America. Logic dictates that there should be more attacks by Muslims in America based on the population, yet there are more attacks by “Christians” be they against LGBT, Muslims, Jews, people of color, homeless people, etc. How many attacks have their been against Churches by Muslims in America? Zero. How many fire bombs have been thrown at Mosques in America? Several. It was a white, heterosexual, Christian who killed those 9 people at a Christian Church NC. Several pro-LGBT Churches across America have been fire bombed, vandalized, threatened by anti-LGBT “Christians”. Was it a Muslim who “accidently” set fire to General Mills HQ lawn in support of a “boycott” a few years ago? No it was a white, heterosexual, Christian man-baby in support of the anti-LGBT “boycott” of General Mills. Who was it that purposefully released ads in Middle Eastern countries attacking Starbucks for being pro-LGBT? Was it Muslims or Christians? Oh right it was the Christian anti-LGBT hate group NOM that did that. I could go on & on.

It was just reported yesterday that 20 students in Uganda were violently beaten, 1 put in the hospital – & suspended from school accused of be gay. It needs to be noted that savage “Christian” anti-LGBT hate groups created this. Groups who cheered the law in Uganda that not only legalized the death penally for LGBT people but demanded that a mother turn her gay son over to the police to be killed or she would be placed in prison for “harboring a homosexual’.

Kevin Swanson’s fate is the same fate as that terrorist in Orlando if he comes anywhere near me.

  • Hue-Man

More christianist persecution in Hillsborough County (Tampa), Florida, where the raising of a pride flag has caused “unbearable” anguish to County workers:

“But just a day after it was raised, Commissioner Stacy White said it may be offending Christian employees and questioned whether it should be taken down.

In an email sent to the the county human relations director Peggy
Rowe on Thursday, White said he received an anonymous complaint from a
county employee that the presence of the flag was “nearly unbearable”
for her to pass on her way to work and created a “hostile work
    environment.””

    http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/baybuzz/lgbt-pride-flag-raised-after-orlando-shooting-unbearable-for-christian/2282099

Pride flags are definitely worse than lions!

  • Richard

I am aware that we all have something we are not particularly fond of.
Perhaps it is cucumber or maybe red hair, the smell of burning oil. Lots of stuff not to like. However, it appears that all of the crazy preacher people are really hung up on sex, gay sex, other peoples sex.
Don’t they have any other passions.
What about teenage homelessness, hungry children in America, pot holes anything other than sex stuff.
These extreme religious people need to pause for a day, go sit in a field of flowers and think about themselves. Look inside themselves and perhaps if they find it uncomfortable they can seek therapy.
Unfortunately I feel a large number of them simply look at this as a marketing tool. They know that there are enough people who think other people’s sex lives are icky, so the religious industry can exploit these less secure folks financially.
Reality is a wonderful place and I very much enjoy living here.

    • 1withCosmos

remember the saying that ends with ….. let me count the ways. As an Ex-Christian recovering from religion, there are way too many ways Christians are complicit.

  • RLK2

I am sorry, but how long do we have to tolerate these terrorists that threaten our community? It really is time for LGBT people to use some kind of remedies against these terrorists otherwise how many more innocent LGBT people have to die?
