Log Cabin Republicans Slam “Duplicitous” Dems For Voting Down Bill That Included LGBT Protections

“We should have known — those duplicitous Democrats are at it again! Headlines from the liberal media this afternoon are blaring that the House GOP killed this legislation, but the truth is that when given the choice between supporting the LGBT community and supporting runaway spending, nearly the entire House Democratic Caucus showed their true colors and voted in support of runaway spending by voting down the Energy & Water Appropriations Bill that would have upheld federal LGBT non-discrimination protections.

“House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and her liberal colleagues should be ashamed they used the LGBT community as pawns in their quest to grow government bloat. This disingenuousness will likely not be forgotten by our GOP allies who voted in support of the LGBT community — nor will it be forgotten by Log Cabin Republicans.” – Gregory T. Angelo, LCR president, via press release.

NOTE: While almost all Democrats did vote against the bill, a separate poison pill amendment attached by the GOP would have barred the federal government from taking punitive action over North Carolina’s HB2.
