TRAILER: 24: Legacy

Another reboot. The Verge recaps:

Fox just announced its fall and mid-season slates this week, and judging from its explosive first trailer, 24: Legacy might just be the biggest of the bunch. Here, war vet Eric Carter (Straight Outta Compton’s Corey Hawkins) is living life in witness protection after spearheading the operation that killed a known terrorist. However, when the terror cell starts hunting him and his team down, Carter must team up with former Counter Terrorist Unit director Rebecca Ingram (Miranda Otto) to stop them.

Thank you Joe for a non political thread to start the day. Yesterday was brutal with so many of us, who normally get along, became disagreeable. I include myself in that.

      Amen sister.

I think I have a bruise on my forehead from hitting my head on the desk all day yesterday.

      • Gustav2

Are you sure it wasn’t from putting your head in the sand!!!!11!!!

        • Rebecca Gardner

Have I ever struck you as having the sort of personality that would ever stick my head in the sand? LOL.

YAY! Let’s all get excited and forget about the travesty of the post 9/11 anti-Bill Of Rights world we live in and enjoy the fear and distrust with wargasmic movies about tough guys killing the Moooslim bogey man.

    No thanks. I’ll pass.

    • Gustav2

I passed the on the first series.

      • Rebecca Gardner

        Me too.

    • NMNative

I pass on anything on Fox.

    • Bryan

      Let’s do the timewarp again.

Ugh. Another bogeyman. Root, toot, and shoot.

Bill O’Reilly did a segment or two on how 24 proved that Torture works. Seriously.

Hey, Bill? It’s fiction. Might want to talk to Dan Quayle about how successful one can be attacking fictional characters and the choices they make…

On the lighter side, at least 24 gave us this joke!

  • JTC

I like action shows/movies, but nothing’s going to replace Person of Interest after it ends its run next month.

  • Octavio

I’ll stick with Outlander. Something about a Raphaelite beauty and her hunky Jacobean stud messing with cosmic time lines agrees with me.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

Oh look, another “reboot/remake/sequel/prequel/spinoff/nothing fucking original” series……how……..disappointingly predictable.

  • Raising_Rlyeh

If I wanted to watch torture porn I’d watch Saw or Hostel. At least those don’t try to glorify torture in a way that says it’s this good thing that has to be done and it helps us win.

  • A long while back, I had some curiosity about the original “24”, based on its rather unique style of presentation and an obviously original idea. But I didn’t really have the time, so I relegated viewing to “When I get the time and it’s on Netflix.” Besides, I really quite like Kiefer Sutherland.

Then of course we all learned the show indulged heavily in both the “ticking time bomb” scenario and implied that torture not only worked, but that it could be morally justified. The show was even cited by the Bush White House and Congressional Republicans as a reason to allow torture to become official U.S. policy, as if what was on the show ever happened in real life.

Thanks, but no. And it’s doubly sad this is yet another remake/reboot/whatever.

At the moment, we’re watching the 2nd season of Fargo and enjoying it quite a lot.
