TRAILER: Prison Break

Newsweek recaps:

Dallas, 24 and The X-Files are just some of the classic shows that have been revived in recent years. And while we all eagerly await Twin Peaks, next up is a reunion—ignoring that pseudo-reunion on The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow—for everyone’s favorite jailbird brothers, Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows on Prison Break.

Seven years after the original series wrapped in May 2009, the first trailer for FOX’s revival of the hit show starring Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell is here. Does it answer the question of just how Michael has miraculously come back to life following his apparent death in two-part TV movie The Final Break?

  • Philly Mike

Loved the show and Dominic Purcell just yummy!

  • JT

I wonder if there will be any scenes of more than brotherly love in it. Wentworth should have lobbied for it.

    • Goodboy

Yeah, that would get me to tune in. Much for the same reason I liked OZ.

  • oooooooooh! i am a HUGE fan of this show. i love Dom and Went also, so cute, so awesomely tough. the first season of the original was to die for, i binge watched it in like, one day, i was so hooked.

meh, sequels and restarts usually disappoint, so i’ll keep my hopes down on this new stuff. but just reading about it makes me want to go bing watch the first two seasons right now, all over again.

CD rarely endorses TV. this one gets my full five star rec. treat yourself to it today. it’s violent (duh, prison) but if you like hot guys behind bars who are smart, this show is for YOU.

    • and while the story sort of got silly by the third season, the actress who plays Gretchen?

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. those eyes. she can whip me any time. i look good on my knees begging.

        Is it on Netflix?

        I appreciate the recommendation.!

        • it was when i watched it, but these days you can never be sure. i suppose the Fox “now” downloading service might have it as well.

          • Traxley Launderette

Thanks again. I’ll check it tonight.

I loved the original and Miller and Purcell are definitely up to the task….BUT….honestly, I’m tired of Hollywood’s and Network TV’s inability to come up with anything original anymore. It’s all reboots, remakes, prequels, sequels……honestly, am I the only one who isn’t tired of this? Thankfully, there are thousands of original stories within books, so there’s that.

The only new programs are adaptations of foreign TV shows.

        Truth spoken.

Were it not for American Public Television and the amazingly excellent and abundant U.K. programming it airs, I’d sell my TV set.

My problem with Prison Break was “what do you do after you break out of prison?”. The correct answer is “End it”. It’s like making a sequel to Titanic – the ship is still at the bottom of the ocean.

Two things explain reboots and remakes – the first is the cost of developing and shooting something new. The second is that today’s audience won’t give a new show a chance – I gave up on Containment and Houdini & Doyle after 15 minutes. Hollywood isn’t willing to take the first risk, knowing that a new series might be killed after one episode.

The alternative is less believable – there is not an ounce of creativity in Hollywood…

      • Goodboy

This just popped in my mind watching the trailer.

  • bambinoitaliano

Fox is running out of idea, new series include The Rocky Horror Picture Shows, Lethal Weapon.

    • Estrafalario

Good. I actually enjoyed him in that role. Looks like he’s having fun. Actually looks like they’re both having fun in those roles.

    • B Snow

NOOOO!!! He’s the only reason I’m still watching Legends of Tomorrow. I can’t get enough of his snarly, snarky delivery.

      • bambinoitaliano

Yup. He is not returning to ride the Waverider along with the rest of the crew. A new male and female characters will join them instead.

        • B Snow

Oh, well. I should watch less TV anyway. Thanks for the info!

  • Ben in Oakland

It was a stupid show, relying on stupidity to get it through each episode.

  • Estrafalario

UGH. Thanks for telling us the WHOLE STORY IN that “trailer.” SRSLY, what’s the point in this.

  • Blobby

i might just love Dominic Purcell. Ask my husband.
