No Charges For Gun Nut Mom Shot By Toddler Son

You remember this woman, right? From the Orlando Sentinel:

A North Florida gun advocate will avoid prosecution after her 4-year-old son shot her in the back with her improperly stored gun, the State Attorney’s Office said Friday. As part of a diversion agreement with the state, 31-year-old Jamie Lynn Gilt of Jacksonville must complete a gun-safety course, install a mounted holster in her vehicle, provide proof of safe storage of firearms in her home and give 10 speeches “relating to the incident and the need to safely secure firearms,” according to Spencer S. Hathaway of the State Attorney’s Office. Gilt was charged with unsafe storage of a firearm after her son got her loaded .45 caliber under the front seat of Gilt’s vehicle March 8 in Hollister, a community in Putnam County, Hathaway said.

More from Raw Story:

Investigators said the boy somehow removed the restraints of his car seat and got hold of the weapon and then wounded his mother — who had bragged just hours earlier on Facebook that he “gets jacked up to target shoot the .22.” The 31-year-old Gilt also maintained a Facebook page called “Jamie Gilt for Gun Sense,” although she deleted her social media accounts after her shooting attracted international attention. She was previously arrested in 2013 on a felony count of grand theft retail after police said she stole five pairs of shorts worth $455 from a Dillards in Jacksonville.
