Megyn Kelly Rips North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory Over Hate Law: What’s With Your Irrational Fear? [VIDEO]

Raw Story reports:

“I can’t believe we’re even talking about this,” McCrory said, before blaming “the left” for the passage of HB2 by the Republican-dominated state legislature. The law rolled back anti-discrimination statues implemented in Charlotte, and bans trans residents from using public restrooms according to their gender identity.

“It’s not just womens’ bathrooms, it’s mens’ bathrooms,” he continued. “In fact, the Obama administration is now putting requires on federal money given to states that they also have to have this gender identification requirement for schools.”

“If you could get back to my question, though,” Kelly interjected, before noting the negative stereotypes characterizing transgender men and women as molesters.

“They’re not. That’s not true,” she said. “Typically male molesters are heterosexual, and if they want to sneak into a bathroom they’ll do it. But 90 percent of the cases, molestation happens with someone you know. So what is the fear with the transgender situation in the bathrooms?”

  • Michael Rush

It’s confusing when she makes sense .

    • John P.

She does make sense every now & then. She nailed Donald Trump.

      • Michael Rush

Fox will have to fire her if she keeps this up .

        • clay

I wonder if she told them she was going be coming in with “serious” hair?

          • Phil in Colorado

I thought she was on her way to a Robert Palmer video audition…..

        • Gustav2

          Her contract ends soon…

          but she has great Nielsens

          • ceeenbee

            Her legs aren’t bad either.

        • IamM

I think pulling these stunts on command is what they actually pay her for. They’ve got plenty of fembots to recite the talking points, but she can put on a front of journalistic integrity to make them look like real news or attack Republicans who Ayers wants torn down or sacrificed while Faux maintains plausible deniability.

        • Zoey

She was playing devils advocate. Nothing more.

          • Phil in Colorado

True…. but even THAT is a step up for a Fox News anchor…..

        • 2karmanot

She’ll be going to CNN soon

      • Todd20036

Thanks for the image. Now die.

      • Zoey

Sense has nothing to do with it. She got her marching orders to come down on him. Trump isn’t liked very much in the Republican Party.

        • Bobby2

Tell Your LIE to a Soros/Bernie crowd

    • clay

I don’t want to like her.

      • IamM

Well, she didn’t ask the Duggars why they were demonizing trans people did she?

      • BobSF_94117

When confronted with evidence that she isn’t a bimbo, I like her even less for playing one so often.

      • Joe knows who I am.

Then don’t. All I got from this piece from her is, how can Paypal not be considered hypocrites for not taking a stronger stance against other countries. It’s meant to create confusion and conflict about supporters. It’s not at all about concern or care for LGBTs. Few people will delve that deeply to look at the construction of this trash TV.

But I do Megan. I do.

    • ya gotta look at the bigger picture here. which is simply that some very messed up people on high in the republican party have chosen to make the bathroom nonsense a seminal part of the campaign strategy this year.

faux news is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the RNC, and the bobbleheads are given questions other people wrote, to prod their guests with. for some reason that completely is escaping me, republicans are re-branding themselves as the bathroom police. how this is going to work out in the fall, i have no idea. historians will be fascinated by it in the future, that much i do know.

      • IamM

I think Faux News is the Republican propaganda machine that grew to overshadow the GOP.

Kelly’s roll seems to include bolstering their credibility by occasionally acting like a journalist for a minute.

      • The_Wretched

They want a hate target and have picked ‘those icky trans*’. As we’re seeing, it’s not working out as well as they would like.

        • Todd20036

They thought most people wouldn’t care about such a small minority, and they probably also thought that most gay people would ignore it since “at least it isn’t us”.

That is very backwards thinking, but this is the GOTP we are talking about.

          • Joe knows who I am.

Backlash from when HRC (Human Rights Campaign) threw Trans people under the bus so willingly a few years ago. It’s not so easy to jettison another disenfranchised group for, ostensibly, the sake of short-term, political gain.

        • Gene

I hold my nose and listen to “Christian” radio and read their websites (they obcess about us) and they are FLABBERGASTED that this is not an issue that 98% of the US population is not with them on. A lot of them are still reeling from Marriage Equality being accepted, and openly weep (yes, weep) about the integration of GLBT people in the military…but this is one of TWO issues that has them…well…terrified. I mean that, they are terrified about the future the way we would be if states really WERE inacting anti gay sharia law.

to them, this is the end of all common sense, of decency..of even the plain as day (to them) idea of a male female only binary. Its the end of the world.
TWO…and this has gotten very little press, but, its affected them almost as much…the idea that woman can serve in infantry, and that young women, like young men, may (just may) have to register for the draft….and that Americans are not rioting by the hundreds of thousands over the women fighting NOW, must less the other part. In honesty, 25, even 20 years ago, they would have rioted over this, but, now…it just seems what it is. Fair.

America has changed..and a governor who thought he was signing a bill that would be no big deal and please his fundy base is now facing..as is the base, that they really ARE the minority. he can barely grasp it. Its worldshaking to him, and his millions of fellow travelers

          I love it.

          😉

          • David Walker

I’m re-reading Randy Shilts’ “Conduct Unbecoming.” As infuriating as it is (the military and the public, not the book), I find it interesting how it’s always the same arguments. At some point somebody is going to say, “You know, this never really worked in the past, so why are we trying it again?” But then that would be learning from history and that entails reading and thinking. Dot dot dot

          • IamM

            Great book.

          • Gene

well…THAT is a part of our victory. I am 46, and trained (college) as a historian. You have the advantages of age, and memory.
Was it not just yesterday in the grand scheem of things that Mahoney ran for May or San Francisco on a pro gay rights (very limited ones!) platform and it was his opponants main line of attack against him..THERE?
Briggs amendment failed, but California considered making Gays and Lesbians declared unfit to teach (and by implication, be AROUND youth) in my lifetime.
In the 80’s, Gay Bookstores (selling literature, not porn even) in TORONTO were raided and the owners harassed.
As recently as Bush II, anti gay marriage amendments were a SAFE bet. the Military? As Steven who posts here will point out, DADT, heinous as it was, was a HUGE improvement over what came before, and it was Awful!

Long and short of it, I was born a few weeks before Stonewall, and the papers reported it “Queen bees stinging mad!” and with shit like that. When I get infurriated (and I do!) reading and remembering what was depicted in Conduct Unbecomming, I realize “they have to keep moving the goal posts. I am OUT to my neighbors and friends in my rural appalachian home town. no one gives a shit. wow.. I am MARRIED. I have good friends in the military. They are out, and treated with respect by their fellows. Marriage is won. the SCOTUS could, in the wrong hands, hurt us there, but, public opinion is now on our side. Men and women serve proudly. the dog whistles that were “guaranteed safe vote getters” in the past, are now TOXIC to the rethuglicans, even in the DEEP SOUTH they dont work. What the one thing the public is not educated on yet, still afraid of? Trans people. And just like “the lesbian teacher may be after your daughter!” of 30 years ago, now, they are playing the LAST card in their deck. Fear of Trans people. David. its effectively their last card. And, its not working as they hoped. they are trying and overall failing in their fights to keep from making CAKE!

did you ever think you would sit back and be pissed someone is suing and losing (and in the court of public opinion also!) for the right not to arrange flowers for a fully legal, church sanctioned (many denominations) well attended family wedding of a gay couple? I hoped to see gay couples wed when I was your age or older, and, I was not sure it would happen, even then. The other side has lost the war, and is desperate for any anti ____ cause to cling to. If maddening, but when you stand back and look at the big picture, its…beautiful. Look at it that way, and take comfort.

hugs David…and to you and all those in your generation who were fighting for me when I was a babe in the crib…a frightened teenager watching society turn on Gay men as “aids carrying filth”…the reagan and bush years. Anyone my age of younger owes you all a great big Thank You. a hundred times over.

          • David Walker

Until 2014, when our Federal Judge in Harrisburg John Jones III ruled in favor of marriage equality and our otherwise shit-head republican governor decided not to appeal, I frankly didn’t think we stood a chance. Even with all the states legalizing equality and all the court rulings, I couldn’t quite hope marriage equality would become settled law. June 25, 2016 is pretty much emblazoned on my brain pans.

I’m in the mid-1970s of “Conduct Unbecoming.” Matlovich and Berg have been drummed from the military and Miriam Ben-Shalom is about to be. By then I was reading gay newspapers, and now as I read the book, those names comes back to me. Bruce Voeller is another. Shilts writes about things and names I’d long forgotten, which, in truth, is one of the reasons I’m re-reading it. Frankly, I gave up on politics the day Ford announced that not only would Nixon go to trial to face his criminality, but Ford granted him a full (fool?) pardon. I also saw that I had no way of demonstrating my anger at the military for treating my brothers and sisters with such contempt, and how Act 125, the sodomy law, was hardly ever used on straight military people and tended to be the sole excuse to get rid of us. Incredibly frustrating..

Ours is a rough, colorful, demeaning, remarkable, fabulous, and ultimately triumphal history. We need to remember it in case a young person wants to know or wants to ask or needs to be reminded.

Our LGBT Center is involved in what happily has become a staggering project of collecting LGBT history in central PA. I’m at the reception desk 3 days a week, so I get to see some of the contributions that come in. They’re fascinating and memory prods. Plus, they’re taping oral histories by the old farts, men and women, so we can get an idea of our lives in the ’40s and ’50s, the ’60s and ’70s in our region. The hope is to have a website which will allow anyone to access those histories, to see the artifacts, and to contribute their own remarks. Dickinson College in nearby Carlisle is curating the whole thing.

          • Vinnie NYC

Well said Gene, born a few weeks before Stonewall too. Thank you and a bigger Thank You to the generation(s) that have come before me, you and us.

Excellent read I may have to pull it out and reread soon.

I like the new avatar. Good one.

          • Gustav2

My brother’s first wife was 1980’s 700 Club indoctrinated. She first was upset because her 18 year old baby boy had to register for the draft, her now ex-husband and I said, yes, of course.

Then she almost fainted when I told her my few years younger niece should be next, “Equal rights, equal responsibilities.” My brother had to leave the room to laugh.

She and her second husband have moved to smaller and smaller, whiter and whiter, supposedly more Christian towns over the past few decades. I can’t imagine the status of their personal terror alert.

      • popebuck1

They really did think it was going to galvanize their supporters and everyone else would ignore it, like the marriage amendments in 2004. Unfortunately, this time around, people noticed.

      • Joseph Miceli

They may have gone with this too early though. I recall that the whole “don’t let the gays get married” bullshit back in ’08 didn’t peak until 2 or 3 months before the election.
I think this crap is peaking now and should die down before it can energize evangelicals to the polls.

    • Butch

I have often held that many of the Fox “personalities” are playing a part because it’s their grift, and it’s a despicable part but it’s still just playing a part and they don’t believe what they’re saying because they don’t believe anything as long as the paycheck is fat. She actually does commit actual journalism every one in a while.

      • IamM

She only commits those small acts of journalism when it serves her purpose. Like burnishing the aura of credibility or potential threat. <- I think that's what she's paid for.

      • David Walker

Agreed. There were a couple of “Wait…what?” moments in her questions.

      • Henri205

But then you see Brian Kilmeade and realize that yes, some people are really that stupid. Along with their viewers. Megyn Kelly is smart but she’s sucking up for her paycheck. Too bad really, she could have been quite successful as a journalist.

OK, you say this bill was ALL about the ” expectation of privacy ” in a public bathroom , whatever the hell that means. Then why does this bill also take away protections for gays and lesbians in housing and employment ? What the hell does revoking a city minimum wage law have to do with ” expectation of privacy ” ? You are lying and you know you are lying so you have come up with an after the fact rationale for your obviously bigotry driven law.

    • Chuck in NYC

Never mind that in huge coliseums and arenas men use long urinal troughs and pee next to each other all the time. God, it’s soooooo embarrassing.

And please, please, stop bringing up the minimum wage. That’s just a MINOR part of the bill.

      SMH.

      • customartist

I think it is an equally important part of the legislation.

    • D. J.

Does this mean if I did a huge drug deal in a public restroom that I had an expectation of privacy? Why do cisgender people get bathroom privacy, but transgender people don’t? Both are using the bathroom for its intended purpose.

  • The gayborhood in Philly has many gay bars. There is a gay piano bar that has been open for at least 40 years. You can take your pick. Straight women go to one gay bar because it has the greatest dance floor in town and nobody tries to feel you up while dancing. Or pick you up. You can dance the night away in happiness.

So, I am in the lesbian bar and the restroom is packed with women. You could hardly move. So many women were chatting in the loo that you could not even get near the sink. In comes a crossdressing man. Not a transgender man because they look like women. Correction: They are women.

This guy was new to crossdressing and he wanted to mingle with us to find if he could pass. He was so scared that he was white eyed with fright. His wig was ill fitting. His dress was not well chosen for his bulky shoulders. He shaved but not well enough. Imagine a bear in a dress and high heels.

So we all, totally getting his situation, pretended he was just one of us girls. It was a gift to him to treat him just like any other lesbian/woman in the loo. One of the more interesting moments in my life. Nobody was assaulted. Everybody was joyful.

Thank you, Saint PlumDumping. I will go forth with thy message. 😉

    • i remember one time at the very crowded gay men’s club i was in had that superlong line for the men’s room, and nobody was waiting for the women’s room. there was this scared young thing who was probably on bad drugs or something, standing in the men’s line looking like he was going to explode. i took pity on him and dragged him into the women’s room with me. when the other boys in line started to throw some shade, i laughed them off. “at least he’s not afraid to pee next to fish!” and we all had a nice giggle moment.

the bottom line is that pretty much all violence committed in bathrooms is done so by non-transfolk. that’s really all anyone should ever say to people who think it’s an issue. 0 incidences for transfolk hurting people in bathrooms. ask any police department; the freaks in stalls are people like Larry Craig.

Yes, oikos. It’s got me wondering what the hell do the backers of this law have in mind when they go into a bathroom? Are they the lurkers who never pee but just stand at the trough urinals glancing over at everyone else?

      • oikos

Everything they fear will be revealed about themselves they project onto other groups. From a psychological perspective I think they feel a law to prevent people from using a bathroom labeled for the opposite sex will prevent them from carrying out their dark fantasies, which no doubt are bathroom based in this case. It is wholly irrational and more evidence of their cognitive dissonance when it comes to legislation like gun laws. Think of how many of the anti gay haters are outed as homophobes. It is always those who scream loudest about the perceived faults of others that are most likely to be guilty of wrongdoing: Ted Haggard, George Rekers, Christopher Doyle………………………………….

        • KQCA

Oikos, you are soooooooo right on with that. I wish we could replace Joel Osteen with you. Preach it, brother, preach the truth!

          • oikos

I’d be happy to take Joel’s cash after we intern him in a FEMA re-education camp. 😉

          • D. J.

I know Oikos would spend that money more responsibly.

          • Todd20036

Wow. You are not good at this, are you?
            1) drug deals are illegal
            2) Peeing is not.
            3) what are you doing on this blog anyway?

          • D. J.

            iPad problems.

Here’s a list of 16 (including Haggard and Rekers):

Billbear in the morning: a self portrait?

        • William

That’s his “What do you mean we’re out of coffee” face.

        • billbear1961

          Whenever I smell a fascist!

  • It’s because all these xtianist assholes have their very own fantasies of raping women and girls in toilets. In their sick minds, legislating it away is the only way of curbing their own desires.

    • KQCA

My father is like that. He has always portrayed the public image of a highly respected conservative Republican born-again Christian as he screams about “them queers” all the time to his Christian circles. Now in his nineties, it’s all coming out that he not only sexually assaulted my sister and me when we were kids, but 7 of my cousins as well.

Yep… he was the fag-hating born-again Boy Scout troop leader and director of the church’s children ministry who sought out and befriended children of strangers when we’d go on summer camping vacations. And he is a devout Rush Limbaugh-loving Republican against equality of anyone who isn’t a born-again straight Caucasian male.

      • oikos

Sorry that happened to you and the other children. Hugs.

        • KQCA

Thanks, oikos. I’ve got it by the horns now.

A word to others here on JMG…..
If you are dealing with depression, PTSD, or other symptoms of sexual assault trauma, you can choose to reach out for resources, or you can choose to bury your head in the sand and lash out at others. It is a choice. One leads to a richer life experience, the other leads to internal isolation.

In this situation, only the strong and wise seek help. 🙂

      • customartist

Sorry for you and commendations to being able to address this openly

        • KQCA

Thank you, customartist. I have quietly served the past 8 years as a volunteer moderator to a male survivor organization and this past March I took my story to the stage to educate the public a bit and encourage other men who are survivors of sexual assault. Although I am sickened that I am personally attached to the issue, I hope to help others out of the ditch.

      • Todd20036

Sorry you weren’t able to face this soon enough at the time to get your father put away, but if he is 90, then that means you grew up in the 50s – not our most enlightened time period.

        • Ragnar Lothbrok

My dad just turned 90 and I grew up in the 80’s

        • KQCA

Thanks, Todd. I was the last of four and born in ’58. Yea, aunts and uncles witnessed plenty but didn’t know the signs of sexual abuse on children, and spankings (beatings) were the norm back then.

I survived. My sister did not. It led to the cause of her death. We were too traumatized as he also inflicted physical torture on us…and animals..for laughs. Religion is the perfect hiding place for perps.

It has taken a lifetime of treatment and I’m just now enjoying life and good nights of sleep. I am now a vocal advocate for other male victims of sexual assault. Sad that there are many many others with similar stories here on JMG.

      • Chucktech

The hypocrisy is positively stultifying, isn’t it?

    • m_lp_ql_m

I think it’s a bit more nuanced than that. They have rape fantasies, but because they can’t fulfill them, be it the law, the bible, public shaming, etc, they don’t want normal people fulfilling their fantasies either, like settling down with the person of their choice with a decent job and starting a family.

    • customartist

It’s always the cheating spouse who is doing the accusing

  • Rebecca Gardner
    • D. J.

We’ve been in Afganistan long enough to know where every hospital is. This is inexcusable and is a war crime.

      • Rebecca Gardner

        That was my thinking too.

    • safari

I think it comes down to intent. If you oopsie a child unintentionally, then you’re just a blundering fool. If you do it intentionally, then you are war criminal. It’s best to play the fool in these roles.

    • William

There was probably some intel that a wanted person was in the hospital. Better (CYA-wise) to him out with a missile and call it an oopsie, rather than admit so many innocents were killed on purpose.

  • TimCA

Ted Cruz from the above video:

“If Donald Trump dresses up as Hilary Clinton he still can’t use the girls’ restroom.”

Oh Ted, you’re so witty. Maybe there’s a future career for you in stand up comedy when you lose the Republican nomination and after you finish out your term as an unsuccessful US Senator forever vilified even by fellow GOP Senate colleagues.

    What a disgusting person!

    • D. J.

I’d be scared as hell to find out all the dark secrets Cruz harbours in his evil mind. Bet he makes Silence of the Lambs look like a comedy.

  • Chrissy

sure let voters decide — because that worked out well in the past for social issues

    • Cackalaquiano

These issues shouldn’t be put to a popular vote. And in NC, I think the bad guys would win.

      • D. J.

Civil Rights of minorities should never be on ballots.

  • PLAINTOM

They have lost the wedge issues on same sex marriage ( it’s now actually working against them ) so they are trying to create a new wedge issue to get out the low information voters.

  • William

Did the governor attend the Joel Osteen Academy of Creepy Smiles?

  • William
    • oikos

I saw this yesterday. What a fucked up state.

      • Stev84

It’s a mindset common in all of America. The country still clings to the silly centuries old distinction between penis-in-vagina sex and so-called “sodomy”. The Supreme Court declared that sodomy in of itself is not illegal, but most states only extend that to consensual sex, but still apply it to non-consensual sex.

    • Ragnar Lothbrok

So breathing is implied consent ?

    • Lindoro Almaviva

It s always that way until it happens to their daughters. At that moment, all hell breaks loose.

    • another_steve

Rape is unwanted sexual contact. If I say “no” and you sexually touch me, that’s rape and you need to be punished.

If I send or sent out the message that I want sexual contact, it becomes more of a grey area in cases like the one in this lawsuit. The problem with media reporting of these cases is that we really never know whether full consent was given by the alleged victim at any point during the encounter.

    • TrollopeReader

and then there are states that would put the 17 year-old in jail, and make both of them sex-offenders for consensual acts as boyfriend.girlfriend. Of course this 17year old *does* need to be in jail for non-consensual sex.

  • customartist
  • LarryChemEngr

His basic argument seems to be that this law is necessary because people have an expectation that when they go into a bathroom, it is occupied only by others who were born with your gender. On what planet does that baloney qualify as an argument? Utter horse poopy.

Important to note that the Republican legislature and the governor rushed through this law in ONE DAY. And now Governor Smarmy is complaining that the left is being unfair to him, and won’t compromise. Really? Were they given a chance to even talk to you about it?

They make a big deal about Paypal being inconsistent in its application of its policies. As if Paypal is going to have any political power to change the laws in Saudi Arabia. That is a bullshit non-argument. Just whining desperation.

    • lymis

It also seems based on the idea that people wave their privates around in restrooms. Kelly makes a good point that she’s never seen another woman’s privates in a ladies room, and from experience, you pretty much have to go out of your way to see a man’s privates in the men’s room. And transmen are vastly more likely to be using a stall, anyway.

What is it these conservatives do in the restroom that subjects them to such things, and how to we make THEM stop? At this point, they’re making the idea of using a restroom in North Carolina seriously creepy.

    • Duck

The people voting on the bill had to ASK for time to actually read the bill before the floor vote.

  • Richard B

McCrory is a unapologetic bigot and dumber than a box of rocks.
You can’t reason with the unreasonable and these bigoted republicans have also erased every single LGBTQ protection communities in the state had passed.
The Republican Party across the country has declared war on the LGBTQ, is in disarray, becoming more extreme, and their popularity is at its lowest point in over 20 years.
We have an opportunity to work together and assist North Carolina to elect a new governor and legislature this fall willing to repeal HR 2.

    • billbear1961

Won’t be easy with all the gerrymandered districts.

But there’s a good chance they’ll elect the Democrat as their new Governor.

    • D. J.

McCrory is one of those Goldwater warned us about.

    • TrollopeReader

he certainly does not come across as anywhere close to intelligent; doesn’t understand the issue(s); and is clearly out of his depth.

  • Richard Rush

If they feel compelled to ban certain categories of people from using public bathrooms, shouldn’t their first choice have been Catholic priests? Of all the other categories, transgender people surely pose the lowest threat level to anyone else.

As far as straight males dressing as female to sneak into a women’s bathroom, nothing has changed ~ that has always been possible. And, if they are arrested, how many straight men are going to use the defense of being transgender? The whole thing is ridiculous.

There are far too many people walking around with Gender Obsession Disorder.

    • Hank

And, if they are arrested, how many straight men are going to use the defense of being transgender?

I would check their hormone levels, first and a Psych exam second… then watch their defense go flying out the window!!

      • customartist

Surely there will be some isolated event soon upon which the Right will “demonstrate” their correctness – probably choreographed like some Planned Parenthood Gotcha hidden cam video

    • Gustav2

First, they are asking for privacy in a public restroom. Think about it.

Second, what they really are asking for is never having to see or interact in anyway with anyone who is not just like them in the public square.

    • customartist

I believe that there could be some clarification in the law where true Transgendered women could be allowed to use the womens’ restroom, meaning that they live their daily lives as a trans person, but then a “man in a dress” cannot, meaning that they just put on a dress a 5 pm to go out an have some fun.

      • lymis

That might be a possibility in an environment where trans people are supported and recognized, and that changes to such things as personal ID, and other documentation is straightforward.

The requirement of using the bathroom that matches your birth certificate rather than your driver’s license pretty much proves they have no intention of considering that sort of thing.

    • IamM

Any of these points is sufficient to destroy their arguments. As is pointing out that requiring transmen to use the female facilities obviously provides much better cover for male perverts to gain access than allowing trans women to pee or change clothes does.

Another point they don’t consider is the large number of heterosexual, cisgender, Christian women & men who look like cross dressers.

  • bob

When you start to lose fox news, your screwed ! lol

FOX News is simply siding with the financial conservative wing of the GOP. They know which side their paychecks are buttered on.

  • DuaneBidoux

My God! Hello HAS frozen over!

  • David Teager

What a strange interview. She chews him up on one aspect of the topic, then throws him the (ridiculous) right-wing bone about PayPal doing business in Sharia-law countries.

    • customartist

AND THEN she commends him for his performance.

    • David Milley

‘fraid I commented before reading down to here … but, yeah, I was starting to be pleased by her professionalism during that interview and then she threw the proverbial turd in the punch bowl.

  • Necessitas

McCrory is brain-dead; how did the man ever get elected to such an important office?
I had held out hope that he might in some way be a part of the solution, but I can clearly see that I was deluded.

  • Treant

McCrory looks like he may weep in that still with Kelly.

Good. I welcome his tears of anguish.

  • TuuxKabin

    That was a ‘rip’?.

She didn’t “rip” anyone and she still sucks. http://gawker.com/megyn-kelly-is-a-horrible-person-1750968367

  • Jude Newton

Megyn Kelly has been impressing me lately. I use to not be to watch her because she was so far to the right but lately she has been pulling to the middle. I wonder how much that has to do with her contract with FOX ending next year. ..

    • lymis

I’d focus on the positive attention she’s been bringing to FOX among those who can’t stand the people she’s been standing up to. Keep in mind that this whole thing in NC has pissed off a lot of big business.

      • IamM

Yes. I think it’s part of her paid act.

      • customartist

Because HB2 is a solution in search of a problem

  • MikeBx2

The fear they have is because people are less bigoted against LGBT than ever before and they are trying to conjure up new ways to bring back the good old days.

  • NYCPDA

Megan’s last question is really annoying and demonstrates her allegiance to the GOP.

    • JaniceInToronto

      This^

  • Glen

When asked what he’s afraid of his response should have been..

Look Kelly, you’re talking to a grown man here who believes in an invisible guy in the sky who’s going to do bad things to me if I don’t do what he says. And you’re asking ME what I’m afraid of?

    • coram nobis

And Megyn could reply, “You’re not doing the invisible guy’s Ninth Commandment.”

  • rabbit_ears

    • customartist

      Would you like his address?

      • rabbit_ears

I’d rather he was shipped up here to Canada for the ceremony.

  • Todd

In the last minute of the interview, Meghan became VERY ‘Fox-y’, so she won’t get a pass from me for the initial tone of the interview. She is no ally.

    • customartist

      Yep, she commended McCrory

  • Joe knows who I am.

The key words in the broadcast; “The legislature, controlled by Republicans,…”

That is what really needs to be fixed in a democratic society. No democratic society can be called that if it is ruled by a single party.

    • customartist

AND THEN McCrory blamed the Left

  • Cuberly

I guess the GOP operatives from on high are beginning to get a little nervous. The hate messaging is making them look bad, uh, ya think?

“Republican Operatives Advise Governors: Be Careful With Trans Bathroom Bills
And ideally, stay away from the issue all together! National
Republicans involved in governors races say the broadness of North
Carolina’s controversial HB2 has created big, avoidable perception
    problems.”

    https://www.buzzfeed.com/tariniparti/republican-operatives-advise-governors-be-careful-with-trans?utm_term=.aa3mKGyOb#.bsWQWBGwa

I guess the editorial meeting at Fox (the GOP Marketing Dept.) was to approach the issue along these lines. Recently they’ve been more hands off on the issue.

  • Captain Jack

It’s not about bathrooms, just like it wasn’t about water fountains!

    • customartist

Or lunch counters, or military service, or interracial marriage, or marriage equality, etc

  • D. J.

If McCrory thought for a minute he was going to be dealt a death blow (which he wasn’t) he would have never agreed to appear.
The majority of items in HB-2 were not brought up at all and I am sure he knew they wouldn’t be ahead of time.
He knew his smokescreen would remain intact.

    • customartist

He NEVER appears with someone from the opposite side of the issue

    • Helen Damnation ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Agreed. Please stop calling this the “Bathroom Bill”. GOP lawmakers hoped
we’d focus on the bathroom controversy, and not read Sec 2 and Sec. 3
which prohibit city governments such as Charlotte’s and Greensboro’s
from requiring contractors to pay a living wage and afford workers with
      vacation sick leave.

It also takes away the ability to file employment discrimination suits in in state court.

      • David Milley

Calling it “Hate Bill 2” works for me …

      • D. J.

I agree. It is not a bathroom bill. I do attempt to always refer to it as HB-2. If McCrory was to place it on the ballot, I guarantee all of the provisions of HB-2 would not be on that ballot.

  • Tor

Despite everything else, I do like her new do.

    • IamM

Seven of Nine wore it better.

      • Tor

Most likely, but I am so over the long blonde look.

  • Reality.Bites

“I can’t believe we’re even talking about this,”

Honey, it’s the only reason anyone in national media would ever be interested in talking to you. And no one forced you to go on her show.

  • Dreaming Vertebrate

Megyn Kelly needs to stop holding back.
Just slap the stupid bigot relentlessly and leave him bleeding from his whatever.

  • BlindBill

she fails to recognize that NC is in the USA and not part of those other foreign countries ….. big corporations do business where ever labor is cheapest in the region that they need to be … this time, Paypal needs a place in the USA, and they did not like government policy that made life difficult for their employees who might be living there… so they found another state in the US that was willing to give them bigger tax breaks without “religious bigotry” prompted “potty laws”

    • David Milley

She was doing so well, too, until she remembered herself and injected all those right-wing talking points at the end to let him off the hook. Drat.

  • Alan E.

Gov. McCrory “empathises” with the unique gender issues that some people have. Not sure he meant to use that word unless he has his own gender identity issues he needs to work through.

  • Kelly Lape

    Ooooh – “Corporate Elite”

Time to edit “Elite” on wikipedia to define it as a group of people willing to stand up to the GOP

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

What I find most ironic in this video is hearing a Fox News anchor scold a right wing Governor about social issues……the irony being, Fox News has been one of the biggest instigators in the right-wing hate parade.

    • Johnny Wyeknot

But then she sucks his dick in the conclusion to make sure not to piss him off.

  • SammySeattle

The media have all played into the hands of the Republicans on this bill. The only thing they’ve been discussing is the “bathroom issue”. Not one of them has brought up the employment, housing, public accommodation and minimum wage aspects of this legislation. The Republican’s subterfuge of making this about fear in restrooms has worked.

  • TexasBoy

Wouldn’t you love for Faux News to have some real transgendered guests that look fully like their new gender, but have not had the full surgery, to ask the Governor what restroom he thinks they should use?

    • Kinda like a new fangled version of Whats My Line?

  • Roy Biv

Wait, it was “the left” who passed this bill and caused economic disruption to North Carolina?

    WTF?!?!?

    • That was my first thought. But then realized what he was saying is that NC had to pass this bill to stop the liberals from “ruining” the state. Oh yeah and “wont someone think of the children”? was stirred into this shite pile as well.

  • DaveW

Interesting he brings up men’s rooms. Projection!!! He seems to think transgender man = gay and he is afraid he either might be tempted to get a BJ or that the guy will look at his dick and see how small it is

This is never about protecting women-just look at his forced birth position to see how ridiculous that is

It’s always about them, the men. So stupid how easily they Tip us off

  • Once again: The bathroom nonsense and anti-trans animus was the wedge issue. Fully enabling anti-LGBT discrimination in housing, employment, and commerce in the name of “religious freedom” was the public face of HB 2.

Eliminating all state-level basic remedy protections for ALL FORMS of discrimination — including race, religion, gender, age or disability — and banning any increases in the minimum wage (currently at the federal minimum of $7.25/hr) were the real goals of this bill.

Focusing on the bathroom bullshit is missing the forest for the trees.

    • KnownDonorDad

The only plus is that the ginned-up bathroom controversy is easy to expose as ridiculous if, and there’s the rub, if our side properly makes its case. For me, the one-two punch is: first, there wasn’t any issue, why is it suddenly a problem now? (answer: it’s all Obergefell backlash, and as you said, a way to attack the broader LGBT community’s rights), second, it legally requires transmen to go into the ladies’ rooms they’re so faux-concerned about, and if someone wanted to pose as a trans person, under this law it’s actually EASIER. Insanity.

  • Blake Jordan

Go figure it is a Faux News anchor that has more “fortitude” to interrogate McCrory properly…

  • Whatever!

  • Yeah, you idiot, we are not in Saudi Arabia.

  • Mow

I don’t know if it’s staged or not, but if it isn’t.. then it begins. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/videos/cops-pull-a-girl-out-of-a-bathroom-for-not-looking-like-a-woman/85011163/

  • Steven Leahy

“I can’t believe we’re even talking about this issue” says the blushing, embarrassed McCrory on Megan’s stall questions.

Well, douchebag, the ONLY reason we’re TALKING about it is because your state passed and you signed a law about that of which you don’t want to speak.

  • RickCabral

I remember those gay dances in the seventies, in a particular hall. The men’s room stank and only the really straightish, uptight guys and the owners used it. Everyone else used the women’s. It had a big lit up makeup table at the entrance and you could always see a guy sitting at it, making sure his hair was okay. The women didn’t care. In fact, you could always see a crowd in there, yakking it up, guys and women.

    • OT: but related – almost all the old outhouses you see have a crescent moon on them – the crescent moon was the sign for women’s potties and a star carved would indicate men’s — I have never seen a ‘star’ outhouse except as a pile of scrap. I am sure there is an over-reaching point here??

  • Lying sack o’ shit says what?

  • Westcoast88

However, she later did a turnaround and sided with the governor, stating that the corporate boycotts are hypocritical, and assured him that she was on his side. It was if Fox News producers were whispering in her ear.
