LIVE VIDEO: Protests Outside Trump Speech

Donald Trump and his bodyguards just literally clambered through a ditch to evade the hundreds of protesters outside the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame, California, where Trump is about to speak to the state GOP convention. Watch below.

  • Rebecca Gardner

    Wait? He’s in Burlingame!
    Like right now?
    Why am I sitting here?!?!?!?!

    • DaveInSF

Give him a raspberry for me!

    • hiker_sf

Supposedly, protesters blocked the freeway to prevent Trump from arriving and the CHP let them do it!

      I love California.

      • Todd20036

I loved the TV show. I was pre-gay, but the actors were hot!

        • AtticusP

          “Pre-gay”?

          LOL

Been there; done that! (Goddamnit!) πŸ™‚

JMG is now 12. Maybe it’s just a phase.

Uh, so you are choosing to interpret the CHP’s action there as evidence of their own anti-Trump sentiment? I’m wondering if perhaps there is another explanation?

        • JoeMyGod

Using multiple screen names gets you banned.

          • Octavio

            !!!!! POINTS !!!!!

    • Cuberly

Lol…yep, looks like all of em are here.

Think twice before clicking on the top video here, they’re interviewing Cruz. And he’s being as despicable as usual.

    • Todd Allis

I’m having lunch with co-workers about a mile away. Traffic is crazy.

    • ButtTrumpette

I dunno, Becky! Put down the Ben ‘n Jerry’s and turn off “Ellen” and ride your vroom-vroom cycle on down to Burlingame and get that cop loving you so crave!

      • Todd20036

        You’re CarlyisGnarly, aren’t you?

        • JCF

          Just Another Troll Sockpuppet.

    • Steverino

Hubby and I are heading down that way this afternoon for a trip to Cancun out of SFO tomorrow… glad we decided to spend the night at a hotel close to the airport! Guess that will give us more time for a late lunch / early dinner in Sausalito on the way there.

    • fuzzybits

Yea the asshole made the comment that he felt like he was crossing the border.

  • Sam_Handwich

i’m scared about what Cleveland will be like in the heat of July.

    • Rebecca Gardner

We need to start a death pool.

    • Lumpy Gaga

      “Cleveland rocks”

      Sentence, not a sentence?

      • Octavio

Ya gots her subject and ya gots yer verb = sentence.

      • Bryan

I’ve experienced low magnitude earthquakes there, so, it kinda rocks.

      • J Ascher

No, it’s on Ohio business selling solid geological formations as decorative or building material.

    • Cuberly

On some progressive blogs they’re been coordinating travel to the convention. There’s a LOT of posts asking for locals to host a protestor….it’s a big thing.

      I share your fear.

      • Falconlights

I have a bad feeling about Cleveland. I really do. Glad I am nowhere near Cleveland.

        • BudClark

I lived in Cleveland during the Hough Riots. It’s going to get UGLY!

    • Bryan

Maybe the river will catch fire again.

      • Nic Peterson

      • Gustav2

I wouldn’t go to the Flats bars while the convention was in town.

        • Bryan

          Oh heck no.

    • Gustav2

The protesters will be miles away…especially if they are darker than pink.

      • That_Looks_Delicious

Actually, the Convention Center is right in downtown Cleveland, on the east side of the River.

For those who don’t know Cleveland, that’s the darkest part of Cuyahoga county in the attached graphic.

    • kaydenpat

Scared or excited. Buy some popcorn and enjoy the show. Infighting is fun.

  • thewendyb

Amendments don’t apply to you Ann, you are a lizard.

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

You’re being far too generous, a lizard is a living creature……the Coultergeist is just a creature and I doubt its alive.

        • Blackfork

It has an adam’s apple… and a boob job.

It’s all fire and toxic fumes! Wait…she’d like that, though.

        • Well it is the Conservative Echo Chamber…

          Helloooooooo! Heeeelllllooooooo!

      • Lumpy Gaga

Well, Friday DOES have a ‘y’ in it.

    • Good Shot Green

      Why is “protesters” in quotes?

      • kaydenpat

Because they’re not TBaggers flying Confederate flags outside the White House.

    • kaydenpat

Good to know that Rightwingers are perfectly okay with threatening violence against protesters exercising their 1st amendment rights. Nothing fascist about that at all.

      • Michael Abbett

They’ve lost the argument and the culture. It’s all they have left.

    • Phil in FLL

Classic misinterpretation of constitutional amendments. Ann believes the 2nd Amendment makes it legal for you to kill your political opponents who are exercising their 1st Amendment right of free speech and assembly. Ann is a little confused here.

    • ultragreen

Poor Ann, she has no comprehension of the word ‘violent.’ Such a sheltered life.

      • BudClark

You haven’t seen her dungeon …

  • Cuberly

    UGH, they’re interviewing reptilicus.

  • JoeMyGod
    • Dreaming Vertebrate

Oh Ann, that racist dog whistle is so shrill!
      Tone it down!

    • Megrim Twist

In truth, it’s more like Italy or South Korea (the leading Drama Governments in the world.)

  • JoeMyGod
    • hiker_sf

I’m waiting for all the concern trolls to tell us how these protests are helping Trump, without any data to back up those claims.

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

They’ll help Trump within his echo chamber, but outside of that, not thinking so.

        • pch1013

Problem is, Trump wants to grow his echo chamber to include the “NeverHillary” crowd.

          http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/29/politics/donald-trump-bernie-sanders/

          • That_Looks_Delicious

Bernie or Bust! Bust it is, then.

          • Jean-Marc in Canada

Sadly, they may fall for it, in which case they will have helped elect a GOP president who will, no doubt, do more harm than ever to the American people and LGBT’s in particular. I don’t trust his pivots or faux presidential antics. Still, it’s up to Americans to decide……let’s hope they don’t repeat the debacle that was 2004. I mean really, George Bush? TWICE?!?

          • BudClark

The Shrub was un-fraaking-believable; TRUMP would be APOCALYPTIC!

      • JoseM4

The violent protestors are helping prove some people can’t handle opposing points of view.

    • clay

Do we get to start calling that median “Rio Grande”, now?

      • We need a wall!

        • JR

          Around Drumpf

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

Poor Donald, he probably thinks all those protesters are Muslims cheering about 7/11.

    • Refugay

It’s almost as if they’re running across the US/Mexico border. Let’s build a wall! Keep Trump out of CA!

      • TrollopeReader

he actually “joked” that getting into the center was like crossing the border ….

        • Octavio

          How prescient of him.

    • Marides48

WOW, I don’t think he’s done that much physical activity for a long time. Get the oxygen tank ready.

  • JoeMyGod
  • coram nobis

After yesterday’s trouble in So. Cal, it would be a good idea if Bay Area residents avoided US 101 between the airport and, say, Coyote Point. My guess is that the convention venue is in that strip of hotels along Old Bayshore on the bay front, so it’s going to be a mess through Sunday.

    • Cuberly

Both bridges may be targets over the weekend as well.

      • coram nobis

Another thing to worry about is how well the police mutual aid is coordinated. You’ll probably have a number of Bay Area agencies in Burlingame on backup, plus CHP and Secret Service. If any of the non-Burlingame police do something stupid, it might not be good. Sure, BPD probably has a command post, but police command might not work like the military would, i.e., my police might not obey your captain, etc.

Upside is that Trump only is there today, AFAIK.

      • coram nobis

Wouldn’t be the first time, and the Friday commute is sclerotic on the best days.

        • tcinsf

Never thought of using that descriptive … but it works.

          • Octavio

A little Rolfing and it clears right up.

    • tcinsf

My fear is the protest will head up into SF and block the bridge. I’m probably bailing out early to get home … of if they block the bridge, sitting in a bar in Oaktown until its over.

  • Cuberly

Holy shit why aren’t they asking the asshole questions vs just standing there holding a microphone at him…..he’s repeating his bullshit boilerplate.

  • JoeMyGod

      • coram nobis

Why did the state GOP have to hold the event in the Bay Area? Why not someplace more suitable like, say, Redding? Susanville? Bakersfield?

        • Cuberly

There’s a reason one of the first things Rubio did, before he threw
his towel in the ring, was he set up an office in Silly-Valley. He courted a lot of moneyed tech execs and companies. He cornered the market with their cash way ahead of the other gop candidates.

There’s a lot of money here, and since Rubio bowed out, well….

        • tcinsf

          Fresno.

          • pch1013

Needles. Which is just about as far away from the Bay Area you can get, and still be in California.

          • coram nobis

            There’s always Alturas.

          • pch1013

El Centro is ~250 miles farther away than Alturas is.

          • Sporkfighter

Crescent City is near Prairie Creek, one of my favorite places in the world. Let’s not let the Republicans near it.

          • tcinsf

Blythe is actually further, apparently (checked on google maps…)

          • TuuxKabin

Smack on AZ/CA border, isn’t it?

          • tcinsf

Yup. Further north than El Centro, but I guess further East.

          • TuuxKabin

I remember waking up in the dead of the night, older sister and brother with me, asleep in the back of our ’49 Chevy on our way to PHX from the bay area. Hot as hell. Huge bugs flying around in the night, hitting us upside the head. That was our last rest stop and us kids would wake up at dawn parked in front of our aunt’s house in PHX. I really enjoyed those long trips before the Interstate system.

          • tcinsf

For us it was Prescott/Chino Valley. Every summer. Our car didn’t have air conditioning back then. No, I DIDN’T enjoy those long trips through the Mojave, though I do have distinct memories of thinking that diner in Needles that had air conditioning was heaven.

          • TuuxKabin

We’d leave Richmond at dawn, drive all day down the Central Valley, over the Tehachapi Pass, down into L.A., east out to San Bernadino and hit the desert just about sundown, then drive the rest of the night thru the desert which was the most interesting part of the trip. I remember the monsoons, washing out roads, long delays, driving thru muddy water up to the hubcaps. All kind of a thrill as a kid, standing behind dad’s seat, watching over his shoulder. He was like our St. Christopher getting us across the flood. I miss California, especially now with all the political action going on.

          • tcinsf

See, we left Fremont when dad finished working for the night, so we’d hit the mojave during the day. Gah.
How many times did your car boil over on the Tehachapi pass? I still cringe going over it, even though modern cars don’t overheat like they used to.

          • Corsair Tact

            How about Crescent City?

          • Sporkfighter

Baker. It’s not farther in miles, but it is in civilization.

        • Craig C

Well, there are a lot of rich people in the Hillsborough/Burlingame area and I imagine a good number of them are country club republicans.

      • Sporkfighter

Who has to clean up the trail of slime he leaves behind?

        • Cuberly

Actually he travels with his own slime trail cleaning zamboni. It’s the only way he’s allowed to visit, he has to clean up afterward.

    • Tor

And in the Bay Area, no less.

    • BudClark

The beautiful, pristine blue of my beloved California has been sullied by SHIT today.

      • unsavedheathen

Clinton’s polling 7 to 11 points ahead of Trump, head-to-head in credible national polls. I hope it’s enough. You know the spread is going to tighten up over the summer. It’s gonna get ugly.

        • Todd20036

National polls are not very prescient since we don’t have national elections.

Most GOP insiders (3/4) think Trump is going to get massacred in the general.

Keep in mind, these are GOP elites who have no reason to be pro Hilary

          • Corsair Tact

Good reminder! It’s the Electoral College that elects the President. And there are 51 individual elections for members of the college.

      • Or as we used to say when I was in the architectural profession, “You can’t polish a turd.”

    • billbear1961

Drumpf is incapable of controlling himself for an extended period of time.

      He’s too thin-skinned AND insecure.

  • Cuberly

Ted just referred to himself as an optimist.

….and nobody in the press pool started laughing?

    • Todd20036

Of course he’s an optimist. He’s still in the race despite the fact that the only way he’d get the nod is if the GOP decides it wants to remain a minority party for the next 40 years

This is the same guy who, after bragging about a fictional war crime he apparently spooges himself at the thought of doing again, claims Muslims all love him?

I still don’t get why so few don’t realize the sheer blatancy of Trump’s mental illness.

    • Bryan

I couldn’t tell if he was retelling the story like he thought it was real or like it was just a scary allegory meant to “instill fear in his enemies.”

      • coram nobis

Scary thing is, he might not be consciously lying, just saying whatever pops out of his head. At that point you’ve got someone who might think or act randomly as a head of state. Is that schizophrenia or some other condition?

        • Bryan

I just chalk it up to his diarrhea of the mouth.

          • Dazzer

  • TimCA

Oh wait!!! .Joel Anderson is my State Senator! He’s ALEC ‘s spokescrreep!

    • tcinsf

Joel Anderson, a special kind of right wing dick.
“Anderson was the only Assembly member to vote against AB2199, which
would remove “the causes and cures of homosexuality” from the list of
mental illnesses and sexual deviancies to be researched by the State
      Department of Mental Health”

      • TimCA

“a special kind of right wing dick”

That’s an understatement. There are (were) several very nasty You Tube videos of interchanges between Anderson and CA State Senator Mark Leno regarding SB 48 (the so called gay history bill). Unfortunately I’ve been unsuccessful in locating them. Perhaps they’ve been erased as it has been several years since I last viewed them. If there was ever proof of what Anderson is like, both politically and rhetorically, those were it.

        • tcinsf

And yet, those two could work together to joint sponsor a bill on digital privacy.

          • TimCA

Did they? I wasn’t even aware of that? Was this before of after SB 48. I think it’s been 4 or 5 years ago that SB 48 was passed.

          • TimCA

I just Googled and found it. It was just recently they co-authored SB 178.

            Edited to add:

“SB 178 requires law enforcement to get a warrant before accessing an individual’s electronic information and includes thoughtful exceptions for law enforcement to use in the event of emergencies and other public safety needs. A diverse coalition of the state’s leading technology companies and civil rights organizations supported the bill, and California’s statewide law enforcement groups helped ensure the bill provided important public safety protections. The bill is co-sponsored by the American Civil Liberties Union of California, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the California Newspaper Publishers Association.

β€œSenator Leno and I helped bridge the gap between progressives and conservatives to make the privacy of Californians a top priority this year,” said Senator Anderson. β€œThis bipartisan bill protects Californians’ basic civil liberties as the Fourth Amendment and the California Constitution intended.”

            http://sd11.senate.ca.gov/news/2015-10-08-landmark-victory-digital-privacy-gov-brown-signs-leno%E2%80%99s-sb-178

          • tcinsf

Right .. 2015. I think it’s quite impressive that Leno could work with someone like that to get a good bill through.

  • I think scenes like this will benefit Trump at the polls. In both the primaries — and the election in November. Am I wrong here?

    • hiker_sf

      Yes.

      • Thanks for your input and I hope you are right.

        • billbear1961

I hope he’s right, too, dear Eddi!

    • Jean-Marc in Canada

There might be a small bump, but I don’t think it would last. At best, it will just be reflected in his own support base, nothing more.

      • hiker_sf

Any bump will be mitigated by what I’m guessing will be a Tsunami of people bashing Trump, including many who have a lot of influence.

It’s the beginning of a movement.

        • billbear1961

Oh, please let this be TRUE!!

    • billbear1961

I think people have to stand up to fascism and show the WORLD that MANY Americans DESPISE them and EVERYTHING the bastards STAND FOR!!

A South American activist once said that nowhere in the WORLD are progressives more TIMID than in the U.S.

He said they were afraid of their own SHADOWS, and that is one reason we have trouble attracting support–because people think we won’t FIGHT for ANYTHING!!

      • Yeah he is talking about people like me me. I generally don’t like confrontation but sometimes you need it. You are right!

    • billbear1961

IF we fail, at least we will go down FIGHTING, Eddi, not sitting quietly like good little Germans while the republic is STRANGLED to death by vicious MANIACS.

      Scene from a film:

First man: “If he comes back, I won’t beg him for anything. He won’t see me on my knees.”

Second: “Why, you chivalric fool! As if the way one falls down matters!”

First: “When the fall is all there is, IT MATTERS.”

    • Todd20036

Consider the fact that for decades gays stayed quiet and polite in the hopes that eventually the government would come around to our way of thinking and grant us rights.

Didn’t work in over 200 years.

Then we started to fight back. And we got marriage equality in less than 40

Being polite and quiet makes people think we acquiesced

      • Michael Abbett

Also remember the saying, “Well-behaved women rarely make history.”

      • rogblake

you realize trump is the only republican that came out in favor of transgendered and opposes all the anti gay laws that have been enacted in the south? he doesn’t hate gays never did, whoever told you that is a liar, and no offense why would we want gay marriage? are you getting married? and when you do, and than get divorced and all the drama that comes with it, and we all know we like drama as gays, so please open your minds a little bit like, my generation fought for gay rights long before there was internet and were we got beat up for being gay, that doesnt happen like it used to, it still does but not nearly as much so remember older gays are the ones that fought for the rights not the pups that think what their doing is always right and everyone else is always wrong

      • Yeah you make a good point. I think you and the others are right. Thanks!

Hopefully these people will go to the polls.

    DOWN with the GOP!!

    DOWN with FASCISM!!

Tell the BASTARDS what people who believe in genuine DEMOCRACY think of their callous and unacceptable BIGOTRY and relentless LIES!!

  • If I lived in the area I would be there. I have no objection to anyone speaking, including Trump, but he crosses well beyond the line of hate speech and that has to stop. These protests will be nothing compared to what will happen if he is nominated or becomes President, not just from a US perspective but where ever he goes.

  • Duane Dimitrov

I am SO loving this campaign season.

There will be blood! And I will be entertained!

  • Anastasia Beaverhousen

What polls show that he is leading Hillary? Oh, the Trump poll…

    • Cuberly

Yep, and he’ll win the popular vote by a 4Mil margin.

      (head slap)

    • Clungeflaps

We still have 6 months of Hillary gaffes to get through, like when she was barking like a dog a few months ago, or claiming Nancy Reagan cured AIDS.

      • TuuxKabin

Hopefully not that long reading your gaffes.

        • Clungeflaps

I’ve never barked like a dog when giving a speech, or said that Henry Kissinger was a mentor to me. That was Hillary.

      • kaydenpat

Those gaffes wouldn’t stop sensible people from voting for her over Trump in November though. Emphasis on sensible people.

  • coram nobis

Just had a look at the map. If it is the Hyatt Regency then it’s right next to US 101. There’s very little east of 101 and the hotel except the old highway and the Bay. Very tight quarters. SF Gate traffic map shows 101 jammed at that point. Might limit the protestors simply because the logjam will keep anyone getting in.

    • BobSF_94117

The Republicans always have their convention there. Allows for quick, anonymous get-aways.

      • David

I’m sure all the gay escort services are working overtime.

        • BobSF_94117

You overestimate the number of Republicans in the Bay Area.

          πŸ™‚

          It’s a tiny “convention”.

  • Cuberly

Well, now he has to wrestle his way out of there. We’ll see how that goes.

    • TrollopeReader

same way as in *they just showed it on cnn …called his entourage a “posse” …!

      • Cuberly

Less the magnificent seven, more the agro-oligarchs.

      • Wow… they really do have no memory as to the origins of that word (or many others), do they?

Then again, they throw the word “lynching” around carelessly, so I’m guessing not.

  • SoCalGal20

John Kasich will be speaking tonight at their dinner tonight and Ted Cruz is speaking tomorrow. Looking forward to whatever the crazy brings!

  • David Milley

Over and over, all afternoon, this blivit reporter (Steve Patterson) on MSNBC has been trying to hype the protesters as some sort of powder keg just awaiting a match to explode into violence. People are strolling and smiling. Some near the barricades have their hands up to show the police they’re not being violent, and he’s saying it’s “some sort of confrontation.”

Meanwhile, the police snipers are clearly visible on overhead walkways.

    SMH

    • JoseM4

There was a lot of violence.

  • ALL over the news here in San Francisco – on every TV station and news-talk radio can’t get enough. They had to park their six black SUVs on the highway and create a break in a concrete highway barrier then with six older fat chubby white men in dark suits running him in a back entry of the hotel – all caught on cameras by two overhead helicopters. Look for it on your nightly news. Love San Francisco!

    • coram nobis

Fortunately that area near SFO isn’t in the final-approach or takeoff areas. Even so, there’s a terminal control area over that area, which means the choppers are under air control. Let’s hope there’s no drones as well.

  • Adonisus

Run, Piggy! And take your goons with ya!

  • David

Over the last 71 years, many people have hypothetically asked and wondered “if it could happen here”.

Sadly, (and not really surprisingly), the answer is becoming a resounding yes.

But….is anyone really that surprised by the rise and popularity of right-wing fascism in America?

    I’m not.

  • Clungeflaps

This protest is so dumb, they should be protesting all of the techies and start-ups that destroyed the Bay Area. Everybody knows Trump is evil, why have a protest?

    • Except that tech is a major economic engine for decades to come. Why protest it?

      • Clungeflaps

No it’s not, all of these ‘Uber for X’ companies are scams and pyramid schemes.

      • Corsair Tact

Troll alert! Don’t get pulled in…

        • TuuxKabin

It’s like a bullfight with him, wave the muleta in front of him and dodge out of the way when he charges, obscuring the sword, then plunging it in for the kill. It’s like a dance.

          • Clungeflaps

Please, like any of you have bested me. What a laugh.

          • TuuxKabin

            Nothin’ to it.

        • …this is how I imagine him/her/it

        • Yikes! Thanks for the heads up!

    • You wouldn’t have the computer you’re using to troll us all incessantly if not for Silicon Valley.

So please engage in your own protest by shutting off your computer and throwing it away. Thank you.

      • Clungeflaps

Yeah, because computers were only invented within the last 4 years, when this current social media/app bubble began.

You fail hard, please try again though.

  • David

With all those married, right-wing family-Values Christian conservatives in town, I’m sure that all the local gay escort services are working overtime to keep up with the huge influx and demand for anonymous, no-questions-asked gay sex.

They probably had to bring in hundreds of hustlers just to keep up with the demand.

    • coram nobis

I guess you could call it an economic stimulus. I’m sure they’ll be using the, er, ride-sharing app called Ubermensch.

    • Clungeflaps

I doubt it, most of the gay people have been priced out of the Bay Area due to techies.

  • Stormfinder

I just hope every single person who stands against the misanthropy of the GOP votes in November.

  • coram nobis

The Donald compares backdoor entrance to Bay Area speech to ‘crossing the border’.

    http://www.sfgate.com/elections/article/Trump-compares-getting-to-Bay-Area-speech-to-7384235.php

    • TuuxKabin

Har, har. The only borders he’s ever crossed are state borders, and those were 35,000 feet in the air. He doesn’t know shit from shinola.

  • Marides48

Yesterday, a friend suggested we go to Burlingame to see the protesters. I used to work In Millbrae just next to Burlingame (near SFO).

    Live coverage via the Guardian.

    http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2016/apr/29/presidential-campaign-live-coverage-trump-jeb-bush

The Guardian, interestingly, seems very good at local Bay Area coverage, including this interesting sidebar, hyperlinked off the live-convention-coverage story.

    http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/apr/29/trump-cruz-california-advisers-guatemala-televised-execution

The two men hired by Donald Trump and Ted Cruz to spearhead their presidential campaigns in California are, for the moment, rivals in what could be the most important primary race of 2016.

But four years ago, Tim Clark and Ron Nehring, who are running the California campaigns for Trump and Cruz respectively, worked as paid advisers to a campaign to elect a Guatemalan presidential candidate whose platform included a call for public executions.

    Now, isn’t that interesting?

    • TuuxKabin

More frightening than interesting, but important information to know.

  • kevin vincent

Anyone think things might be going to far? weren’t their scuffles with police and stuff? I understand protesting Trump but how much is too much?

  • Keep it up, bring the crazy! Get him nominated by the GOP base and watch him finish destroying their hold on this country.

Actually, it might be a better idea to hold a counter rally somewhere AWAY from the venue, perhaps at city hall or outside the local news TV station or … Why feed the persecution complex of the tRump followers?

    • ultragreen

Would the news media even bother to cover it? I didn’t think so….

  • kaydenpat

Why do people hate Trump? He’s such a nice, humble man!

  • DuaneBidoux

I don’t believe blocking streets is a good way to deal with these people. You are simply baiting Trump supporters in ways that can’take possibly end well for anyone.

Protesting him is great. In fact at this point it’s necessary – but they must be kept peaceful. Somebody’s got to stay sane

Now if the guy is actually elected and begins to convert his fascist talk into fascist governmental actions then the time may come where it becomes necessary.

But God forbid that couldn’t possibly end well for anyone either.

  • JCF

As I said on the previous “Trump in California” thread, I feel highly ambivalent about these actions. I fear they could create backlash (and thereby, sympathy for Drumpf). The REAL protest against Drumpf, will be done this November in the voting booth.

…and yet, and yet. Drumpf in NORCAL??? In “my house”?! Oh, HELL No! We do not accept Fascists here—GTFO!!!

Speak Truth to Power(fully bad hair), but keep it nonviolent my NorCal homies, ‘kay?

  • Mark

And what the hell did they hope to accomplish? Do they really think he is going to abort his campaign at this point? Their ‘protest’ needs to be on election day – and leave the idiot to his own demise.

  • JoseM4

The above video clip shows peaceful protestors waving American flags. In reality, there was widespread violence and lots of Mexican flag waving.

    • stevenj

      Provide proof of your statement.

    • stevenj

“widespread”? Not according to the local news sources here. A bunch of people got arrested for various offenses and there was some egg throwing, someone got kicked. Not “widespread”.

      • JoseM4

Were the riot police called to hand out flowers?

  • Michael A. Lozoya

I watched enough videos from this violent protest to know they’re a bunch of young idiots. This is only gonna back fire. I can already imagine the GOP under Trump’s nomination using these images in their ads. I’m glad though they are more likely than not Bernie supporters based on the age they look as opposed to seeing a bunch of 30-55 year olds acting like hooligans.

  • bob

To be clear … I HATE Trump. But, this is wrong. If you don’t like him or his candidacy, then, campaign and vote against him. To block his supporters from attending an event, or to keep him away from his venue, is simply, deeply and profoundly anti-American.

Let’s put the shoe on the other foot. Let’s say it’s 8 years ago, and bigots tried to keep Obama and his supporters from attending rallies. Doesn’t seem to be so pleasant a picture anymore, does it?

Here’s the ugly part about democracy, kids — and you had better learn it soon. Free speech has to be for everyone, or it’s not for anyone. Campaign, lobby, vote — but this kind of bad behavior just isn’t American.

    • stevenj

Protest (which is free speech) has always been American. From the very beginning.

      • bob

This isn’t protesting … this is rioting and intimidation.
