DNC Clip Shows Prominent Right Wing Commentators Wondering What The Trans Fuss Is About [VIDEO]

From the Democratic National Committee: “As Republican legislators and governors continue their assault on LGBT Americans through Right to Discriminate laws, even many prominent conservatives think they’ve gone too far. Watch what they and others have to say.”

So that’s what happened to the clown car!

No one talked much about Thomas’ drug addicted half brother.

      • AtticusP

        Ironically, his name was Donald…

Wait! IS THAT TRAIN WEARING BLACKFACE??!!!

Silly me, of course it is.

  • The Sentinel

Will they boycott FOX NEWS now?

    • Blake Jordan

That would be a welcome outcome to all this BS!!!

      Corporate welfare.

    • David Walker

The republican’ts should stop calling themselves the party of Abraham Lincoln and start calling themselves the party of Jesse Helms. He’d be so happy wallowing in all this pig shit.

  • Necessitas

Even a broken Mayan calender is right once a millennium.

  • Gustav2

Maybe because, if you read the rest of the bill, it’s not about T’s in the restroom?

    • Blake Jordan

That was the gateway to a whole lot of evil sht!

      • Gustav2

All the pundits in the vid are not stupid. They know what is in the rest of the bill. But they are still focusing on the T’s restroom part.

Maybe they just don’t want to admit to the Christianist/Dominionist base they don’t want discrimination against gays and lesbians.

The modern GOP is a shotgun marriage of religious conservatives and the banking establishment, with the more recent addition of racist Southerners after LBJ’s signature appeared on the Civil Rights Act. Despite this new addition, the core of the GOP is the same as it has been since the Cold War began: Big Religion and Big Banks.

If you could drive a wedge between those two components, the GOP would be weakened for decades to come. So what we need is an issue which would cause the business establishment to recoil in horror from the religious.

Now, let me think here. Big business is all about money, and whats something that would inhibit their ability to make money, and yet is something those crazy religious bastards just can’t let go of? Something the christians are so insanely fanatic about that, no matter how much it renders the areas where they dominate unprofitable, they’d rather tear the party apart than accept?

    Hmm……

What’s all this about transistors in public bathrooms?

    • BearEyes

      thank you, Emily

      • AtticusP

OMG! I had a Great Aunt in western New York who used to have one of those in her bathroom!

        • Michael Rush
          • AtticusP

            Pink, of course.

To match the Princess phone in her dressing room, extra long pink cord and all…

          • AtticusP

This was back in the day when the only push button phones available were at the Bell exhibit of the New York World’s Fair. I never saw a radio/rotary dial telephone hybrid. If it existed, she didn’t have one.

          • KCMC

that’s too far. do. not. speak. on. the. throne.

          • another_steve

Experts advise against reading on the throne too.

The less time spent in that position, the better — from the perspective of tush and bowel health.

          • Acronym Jim

I guess this means my family will have to stop referring to the loo as the library.

          • another_steve

I’ve been in people’s homes where there were, literally, bookshelves by the toilets. Have never understood that.

Perhaps if you’re a parent with young kids or have a particularly “needy” spouse, toilet time is the only time you get to catch up on your reading.

          • Acronym Jim

Or your family just doesn’t eat a lot of fiber.

          • another_steve

Lol…So funny and ironic that you said that!

Last Wednesday we had our septic tank routinely pumped out (rural America here…ugh) and the rather cute young man who did the pumping remarked that the slush or whatever he called it looked very good. Very healthy.

“The two of you must eat a lot of fiber,” he said with a sly smile.

          • Joseph Miceli

Since everyone’s bathroom is …quite literally…covered in atomized microscopic particles of poo, I cringe to think of actually reading anything stored in there.

            Really? I dispute that science.

I am in excellent poop health, and always have been, I’ll not give up my bathroom Readers Digest.

          • another_steve

For people with hemorrhoids, or for people who want to avoid hemorrhoids, sitting too long on the throne is not a good thing. This is established medical science. There are also other medical conditions that may be aggravated by excessive toilet bowl sitting (google for the gory details).

In general, nature intends for us to squat while pooping, not sit. Bowel anatomy is designed to work most effectively in a squatting position.

Ask any cave person who didn’t have the luxury of a comfy well-lit bathroom. 😉

          • Acronym Jim

I just feel bad that that person had to wipe with parchment paper.

The townhouse I rented in Las Vegas a couple of decades ago, had both bathrooms wired with telephone jacks.
I only had phones in the living room and bedrooms. If only I had KNOWN there were these fabulous transistor/phone units ??

      • KCMC

fancy. growing up in mid west seasonal storm belt, what family bathroom didn’t have a transistor for tornado info?

    • Henri205

      Never mind.

I MISS her. Canada has given us many wonderful things, but, she was the FUNNIEST ( and she is hardly the only Canadian Comic) . RIP funny lady.

  • Todd20036

And Trump is going to have to weigh in on this mess, especially if the GOTP plank includes bathroom bills.

All Hillary has to do is condemn them

    Easy peasy

If they want to ban something in bathrooms, I suggest those awful inlaid tile patterns.

    • Sk3ptic

Well sign me up! As long as we can have some minimum standard of hygiene…

      • oikos

You can also refuse to inspect teabaggers and xtians meaning they cannot gain entrance to the facilities. Sincerely held beliefs work both ways.

or perhaps: Department of Outhome Security

  • Chucktech

I guess the right wing commentators can’t quite bring themselves to make the observation that “bathroom bills” are the result of pathetic, death struggle type of desperation on the part of Republicans.

Santaolalla completely nails this most evocative of themes. I’m sorry but he just does…

          • Cuberly

Absofreakingloutly! It’s perfect. I have my criticisms of the movie but the soundtrack is a keeper. It’s superb.

His soundtrack for The Motorcycle Diaries is just as good if you ask me.

I know his piece De Usuahia a la Quiaca wasn’t written specifically for the movie. But it fit so well. From what I’ve read it was what made the director choose Santaolalla to score the film. It set the tone for the entire film.

Maybe this won’t be their epitaph…Who are we kidding? Of course it will.

  • Hank

My chin just hit the floor!!! Am I tripping?? Did all those Rethuglicans admit that the issue is bogus??

    • Todd20036

Not bogus enough to repeal it except under duress.
They will want to wish the problem away, rather than actually fix it.

      • IamM

        As usual.

    • Christopher

      Look at the pretty colours!

  • Oh sure now that the GOP looks like a collection of total loons, they act as though this is a surprise and not a result of their campaign against LGBT folks.

  • RainbowPhoenix
  • WhiteJesus

These “bathroom laws” are nothing more than a giant Trojan Horse. Gin up outrage from the rubes, draft a “Bathroom Bill”, then fill it with all types of anti LGBT language that strips us of any and all equal protections under the law.

My oh my how clever those little bigots are! Too bad it’s destined to fail.

    • thank you for reminding me, White Lord. that’s another part, the actually important part, of some of these laws and bills.

they aren’t just about transpeople. some of them are also about things like curtailing labor rights, and other things that have nothing to do with bathrooms. tucked in underneath the parts about ‘pee as you were born’ or whatever.

Joe, get somebody to look at these laws more closely and post on those parts. like i’ve been saying, the thugs are using transpeople as a cover to pass other, more odious stuff they really want.

      • WhiteJesus

Absolutely. These clowns know that trying to get legislation passed that denies basic protections and services to LGBT by plain vanilla means won’t cut it these days. But creepy dudes in the bathroom with your daughter? Hell yeah, that’ll get ’em fired up!

In time these laws will be kicked to the curb by the courts, but that will take a bit.

    • Octavio

Thus saeth the White Jesus! It”s almost enough to make me want to go to church. But I’ll fight the urge. 🙂

      • RGG

After a cocktail or two that urge should pass.

      • WhiteJesus

        Bless you, my son.

    • KCMC

Yes, and it also seems some observable unifying LGBT and ally response where not so long ago (even in the threads of this fine blog), there were regular posts dismissive of our T brothers and sisters.

  • it’s a losing issue and everyone knows it. trans bathroom phobia does not motivate any voters at all, and may even turn off some who might have voted for a conservative. on the liberal side, it only motivates us to come out in support of equality.

again i ask: who in the High Council of Elders of the republican party is *this* obsessed about trans peeing? cause believe me, there are about 1000000 thug staffers under the age of 40, who understand math, who are saying “STFU, dood! this is NOT working!”

    • lymis

They know that anti-gay laws, policies and slurs are losing ground fast, and they’re looking for their next money-making target. They tried to float atheists, and it didn’t work.

They’re still trying to figure out how to monetize anti-Muslim hysteria, and it’s sort of working, but most people in areas where it would work don’t know enough Muslims to be afraid of them, and tend to associate them with harmless, hardworking, ill-paying jobs.

So I can see why trans people were an obvious target to take a shot at. I absolutely love that it has failed so spectacularly in so many ways.

  • you made your bed by whipping up rabid anti-gay sentiment in your legion
of minions, enjoy sleeping in it. funny thing is when you cultivate
violence in your attack dog sometimes it slips the chain on you.

  • Octavio

“Christofascists, creating a problem in search of a solution for ‘Merikuh just for you!” Interesting to know that even Krauthammer isn’t jumping on the perverted trans train. Maybe his initial training in psychiatry actually corrects his thinking now and then. Miracles do happen?

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

When even your own evil minions start asking “What The Fuck?!?”, it’s time to admit you have a problem.

  • Irish856

I will never understand why they want guys like Buck Angel to now be forced to use the Ladies room…
Why do they want hot guys like him to sit on the throne next to their born again wives and girlfriends??
    https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/603866930437578752/S_x4Vxr5.jpg

    • Octavio

I love the Buck Angel. Amazing person.

      • Ginger Snap

        Yeah me too.

    • Cuberly

      Woof!

    • Buck really is the trans Icon. i love him. he is, ahem, “The Point.”

    • Christopher Smith

Because they’re too stupid to know trans men like Buck exist.

      • Irish856

        LOL… agreed

Plus we do not remind them that they exist

  • Cuberly

If you’ve lost RCC certified homophobe Hugh Hewett, Maggie Gallagher’s most bestest bud, you’ve REALLY lost.

    • customartist

Republicans get all friendly Before elections. But then after they get elected, the legislate against us.

  • Mark

So, uh…like….where were all you fucks before the back lash gained momentum? Your silent approval is getting kinda loud, ain’t it? And now you want to press the “distance” button? How hugely chickenshit of you. Try the ‘save my ass’ button instead – see if it works any better.

    • lymis

I agree with your sentiment, but I also will happily watch as these people make it clear that they will throw each other under the bus the moment things get tough. That’s not the answer, but it’s an important step along the way toward these idiots not pulling this crap in the first place.

The ONLY concern most of them have is whether or not they’ll get away with it and what it will gain them personally. Once it’s clear that they will neither get away with it nor have it gain them, they’ll stop doing it – or at least, stop ACTING on it.

  • Jay George

Smell the burning rubber while they try to back out of this one.

  • ultragreen

Trans-bathroom legislation: If you can’t find a real problem, then create an artificial one.

    • customartist

So that you can take away ALL rights and Protections from LGBT people, AND pass a minimum wage ban.

Run off business from the State, and prevent your very own citizens from making more money. This is what Republicans call “fiscally smart”

  • IamM

It’s only a big deal because your guys made it a big deal, dimwits.

  • customartist

The fact Bathroom portion of this law was merely the smokescreen for the Minimum Wage Ban. Republicans do this all the time with distasteful legislation,

Well, it worked too damned well. They did not expect this huge backlash.
