Anti-Gay Catholic Activist Michael Voris Confesses: I Used To Live A Sinful Life With Homosexual Men

Thanks in part to pressure from virulently anti-gay and comically bewigged Catholic activist Michael Voris, last week the Catholic Church fired its news service editor for tweeting against North Carolina’s hate law. Yesterday Voris posted a video on his website, Church Militant, in which he confesses that for most his thirties, he lived a sexually sinful life of “live-in relationships with homosexual men.” Voris claims that he makes this revelation because the New York Archdiocese has been plotting to out him over his past. From the transcript for the video:

As you probably know, the apostolate has been somewhat silent this week publicly. That’s because a situation has developed that I must fill you in on. It involves the sins of my past life all committed prior to my reversion to the Catholic faith. We have on very good authority from various sources that the New York archdiocese is collecting and preparing to quietly filter out details of my past life with the aim of publicly discrediting me, this apostolate and the work here.

I have never made a secret that my life prior to my reversion was extremely sinful. I have said many times — in public — that I was in a state of mortal sin, and had I died, I would have been damned. I also revealed these sins were of a sexual nature and that they occurred over a prolonged period of time. I did not reveal the specific nature or details of the sins, because when I returned home to the Church, I did not think that a full public confession of details was necessary in order to start proclaiming the great mercy of God. Perhaps that was a wrong assessment. I don’t seriously know. Perhaps along these years I should have been revealing of greater detail. That, I now think so, but more on that in a moment.

Whatever the matter, I will now reveal that for most of my years in my thirties, confused about my own sexuality, I lived a life of live-in relationships with homosexual men. From the outside, I lived the lifestyle and contributed to scandal in addition to the sexual sins. On the inside, I was deeply conflicted about all of it. In a large portion of my twenties, I also had frequent sexual liaisons with both adult men and adult women. These are the sins of my past life in this area which are all now publicly admitted and owned by me. That was before my reversion to the Faith.

I had great pain to overcome from childhood and my youth and instead of recommending myself to God in my youth, I gave in to the flesh and died spiritually. I shudder every time I think what would now be my lot had I died in a traffic accident or something. I gave up myself — my masculinity, my identity, my self-understanding, my own dignity as a baptized Catholic. As I have said publicly, without the details, I lived a horrible life and would be in Hell had I been killed before returning to the Faith.

The New York Archdiocese denies that they were planning to out Voris: “It is absolutely, 100 per cent untrue that the archdiocese was collecting and preparing to release anything concerning him personally or his website.”

Back in 2010 I posted several times about Voris, his attacks on President Obama, on LGBT rights, and his call for a “benevolent Catholic dictatorship in the United States.”  These posts prompted a JMG reader to write and tell me that he’d once been close friends with Voris, who, according to the reader, had been a producer at the CBS affiliate in Detroit.

The reader further shared that he, Voris, and Voris’ boyfriend at the time had attended International Mister Leather some time in the 90s. According to the reader, Voris had to lend him a leather item in order to comply with that weekend’s dress code at Chicago’s Manhole bar.

From the reader’s email: “It really pains me to see Mike spitting this vitriol into the public, and it also pains me to see a guy who was once a deep and close friend be the subject of ridicule and derision. But I also recognize that he’s brought this upon himself. Until he can face his own demons, he’ll only be able to demonize that which scares him.”

During my 2010 exchange of emails with the above-quoted JMG reader, he asked that he not be named should I report on his account of Voris’ past. As I was unable to independently confirm that Voris had, as Voris himself now puts it, once lived a sexually sinful life, I decided against outing him based on an anonymous claim. That issue, obviously, is now moot. At this writing, nearly 1400 Church Militant commenters have effusively praised Voris for his revelation.

VIDEO: In June 2015 I reported that World Net Daily had praised Voris for “infiltrating” the Satanic Temple’s unveiling of a statue in Detroit. His site Church Militant wrote that day:

Before the unveiling, the announcer denounced the protestors who had shown up outside the original venue — in addition to ChurchMilitant.com’s presence and our conspicuous six-foot-tall statue of St. Michael secured to a flatbed truck, two women were also present holding up a large banner with an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary. At 11 p.m., two men in leather S&M attire grabbed each side of the sheet and yanked it off, to loud applause and shouting. The men then stood directly in front of the monument and began kissing lewdly while the crowd cheered, and afterwards a steady stream of VIP ticketholders — who had paid $75 for the chance to approach the statue — took turns sitting on Baphomet’s lap while engaging in sexual groping, mostly homosexual in nature. Outside, ChurchMilitant.com staff drove the St. Michael statue around the venue three times while reciting the St. Michael prayer.

Wonder what his Grindr profile pic looks like

    • Frostbite

I’m guessing headless, like the rest.

      • SammySeattle

        Nah, just wigless

  • popebuck1

    This is my surprised face.

  • Will Parkinson

I used to live a sinful life. Now I just give blow jobs in the alley behind the bar.

    • customartist

      Pleeease respect me!

    • djcoastermark

      You do ? Which bar? ; )

      • lattebud

All of them. There are great and yuuuggge. And Mexico will pay for the wall with the gloryhole I stalk

So you’re the bitch who’s competing with me! I will cut you.

The highest form of holy cummunion.

      • MB

… and you can still enjoy your wine, before, after, or both. I hear it’s a great palate cleanser for your next cummunal tongue bathing.. or so I have been told. I wouldn’t personally know about any of these unholy sordid details.

        BWAHAHAHAHAHA-Hah !!!

        • vorpal

I’ll know soon enough, given that I have established a base camp on your lap with its lofty peak and am planning on tasting the local cuisine! I’ll wash down the delicacies with a nice glass of white!

You can sit there and adjust your “tin foil” halo the whole time, if you like :D.

    • Jeffrey

And I want to thank you again. Sometimes I’m in a hurry and forget to say it after I zip up.

  • Blake Jordan

Who is he, and who the fck cares?

  • Lakeview Bob

I love how he had relations with homosexual man while never labeling himself homosexual. He might be abstaining from gay sex and might live a hetero life but he is still a big old ugly queer hiding in the closet. Asshole!

    • customartist

Grappling for the respect of others who he thinks that their opinions are more important than his own

      • Kevin Morgan

        You got that right!

    • David Walker

Yeah. As seen on a T-shirt: I’m not gay, but my boyfriend is.

      • Schlukitz

Little Tommy: Mommy, I think my brother is gay.

Mother: How do you know that, Tommy?

Little Tommy: He giggled when I kissed him.

    • BobSF_94117

What he’s living, enthusiastically I might add, is the grift. Church Militant? More like Church Profitable.

    • CPT_Doom

And if you follow the teachings of the retired Bishop of Rome, Joey Ratzinger, whatever he labeled himself, he has committed the one sin that cannot fully be forgiven. The Church does not teach that you can be “cured” of being gay, you have to live a life of celibacy. However Ratzinger, while trying to pin the sex abuse scandal on the gays, decreed no known homosexual could become a priest and were barred from the sacrament of marriage. We’re the only group considered to have defective souls, incapable of receiving some of the sacraments.

      • David Walker

Yes, but it’s a distinction I rather like.

    • CanuckDon

“Does this cock in my mouth make me look gay?”

      • David Walker

        Love it!

      • Piercedchrlz

Makes you look inexperienced…here hun, let me show you something…..

    • Richard Rush

      “. . . [Voris] might live a hetero life . . .”

      He’s not married.

    • Henri205

Maybe he was gay for pay. Nah.

  • ..

    • Glen

      Ha!

      That’s too funny.

    • Menergy

      Perfect! and Hilariously appropriate!!!!

    • Necessitas

He looks like a recent Amish convert.

      • Piercedchrlz

I was the catechist for an adult Amish convert once. The records shows he was baptized, boy was he, got some on me too!

    • rubellapox2

    • Kevin Morgan

      Love it!

  • Christ. What an asshole.

The new inquisition, Psychological Warfare against gays. The New York archdiocese is collecting and preparing to quietly filter out details of my past life with the aim of publicly discrediting me. That is how they do it, they get the dirt on you and use it to destroy you so nobody will have anything to do with you. The new anti-gay Christian war between them and the gays is going on only this time is is Psychological Warfare they will use to destroy you.

      • D. J.

Why the fuck would anyone stand by an organisation they thought was going to do that to them? If you can’t find the exit door you make your own and run.

        • Chucktech

But, but, but, what about Jeezy and the BlessedVirginMary and grace and mortal sin and and hell and confession and the Holy Spirit and Communion and stuff??

          • David Walker

            That pretty much covers it.

          • D. J.

Supermarkets carry crackers & wine. Luckily they don’t sell horse shit.

          • Paula

            Horse potatoes sounds friendly, too.

          • David Gervais

So, the difference is that if you sell horseshit, you get a massive tax break?

          • 2karmanot

Jeezy says, “Come on to me.”

          • Nic Peterson

            Sweet Jesus!

          • …and I say “Jeezy come on me!”

          • Jeffrey

If a Virgin Mary doesn’t do the trick, try a Bloody Mary.

          • Piercedchrlz

Start with the Bloody Mary, I’m long past trying to convince a virgin of antyhing. Life is short….

          • Amanda B. Rekendwith

            And the smoke….and the bells.

They’re so pissed at us ’cause they didn’t think of the glitter first.

      • Scott R

Correct, except that none of this is new. It goes back 2000 years.

      • Phillip in L.A.

Seriously, ExGayTherapy, why would the archdiocese bother? Don’t they have better things to do? Or were you an archbishop?

    • John T

I cant for the life of me understand how so many thoughtful, compassionate Christians can sensibly apply logic to a few select aspects of their theology but leave the rest of the farce standing intact.

      • Chucktech

It’s truly the Christian Cafeteria mentality. If you have even the last fading remnant of reason and logic, that’s the only way you can make this bullshit woo work for you at all.

      • JCF

We should all live such a “farcical” life as Desmond Tutu.

        • John T

Wow, way to miss the point. You’d make a great Christian with your selective misinterpretation reading skills!

        • George Waite

Tutu has said himself that the main reason he got into religion was that it was that or teaching and he thought teaching would be too difficult.
So that whole “vocation” thing pretty much withers on the vine, doesn’t it? Nothing he’s said or done couldn’t have been said or done by an atheist such as Nadine Gordimer or Frederik von Zyl Slabbert.

  • Lakeview Bob

Another ugly picture of this jerk wearing his wig from the Eva Gabor collection.

What is it with these guys who are well past 50 and want to look like prep school students? It’s like some of the over the hill rent boys at the Town House in NY.

You see the blazer, oxford button down, tie, chinos, loafers with no socks, and the strategically longish-rumpled hair. From a distance you thinking late 20’s maybe 30 but then you get close and see the dye job and the surgery and you realize the “kid” is pushing at least 50.

I think many of us have checked our religious baggage for good. Ditching the doctrine alleviates the self loathing which in turn allows us to love others. It’s funny how far I had to run from organized religion to find value in the message of Christ. I wish more religious folks would have similar revelations.

As for Voris’ new life work of demanding doctrinal purity from the institution of the RCC, I will gladly watch from a safe distance as I would any train wreck.

        • vorpal

The “Real Christians” do not feel at all that Jesus had anything to say about love. They insist that it all had to do with throwing over the tables of the money lenders in the temple and wreaking vengeance.

That’s the Jesus that they identify with.

My “conversion” began at age 13 or 14 when religious grandparents paid me to read the bible…reading from start to finish, you catch all the inconsistencies and nonsense, even at that age. Their god should have chosen better scribes, translators, and people who knew the context of the writings, because they ended up with an absurd, yet important, work of English literature.

      • Henri205

Mine happened when I was 12 or so. My parents are Cafeteria Catholics, pretty much non-observant but they made us go to church until Confirmation, then we were free to do as we wished.

At about the same time, we were studying European history in school and the more I learned about the Catholic Church’s suppression of education, knowledge, etc. the angrier I got. I tossed all the crap aside by the time I was 15 or so.

I did attend a Jesuit university for the quality of education, really can’t be beat as long as you ignore the doctrine, which, surprisingly they allowed us to do.

None of my siblings go to Mass, nor do many of my relatives.

It’s ironic that this country was founded, basically, as a result of the Enlightenment and we’re battling these medieval mindsets. Thankfully it does seem that secularization is here to stay as the meddlesome old fucks lose influence.

Here’s to hoping the trend continues. And as for Michael Voris, he’s a self-loathing (to borrow a term from another blog I frequent) hoofwanking bunglecunt.

        • ColdCountry

“Hoofwanking bunglecunt” Now that is an interesting term.

I was Baptist (American), and was forced to go weekly until age 18…but it was rather pointless by that point. Already out to gay bars by age 15/16 in 1979.

          • Henri205

Wow I didn’t hit my first gay bar until I was 25.

The bible we know to-day is very different from what was used in the early church. It wasn’t until the council of Nicaea (I think) that the books included in it was codified, Repeated inaccurate transcribing by semi-literate monks working in poor light with poor translations led to errors compounding. Even to-day, the various versions of the bible do not always agree.

        • Bob Baker

What’s the difference? (That) Bullshit woudn’t make more sense or transform even into literary level of a bad comic book even if it was translated by almighty Jizzbus himself anyway.

        • Jerry

First thing church taught was that it was infallible word of god, and the 4 gospels agreed on everything and were just 4 different versions of same story. The genealogies that start two books are extremely different, and the four books don’t agree on anything concerning the life of jesus. That’s why any minister will pick a verse here, another there, to tell a story that just doesn’t exist. Those are the things I picked out immediately at age 13/14. Years later, I learned of the heavy editing to fit the agenda of the Romans.

      • Bob Baker

“Important” only because its artificially made so by forcing people to read and glorify it. Worst scifi peace of crap would do EXACTLY same thing. And much better…

Good for you! Big hugs from the California desert! I really kinda feel sorry for the kid in the article. I was tortured for years by the Catholic Church, just as he was … raped by a priest … the whole nine yards. I’m 71 now … it took me until my 60s to escape that whole mess, and talk about it.

      • GayEGO

And hugs to you too! We have seen a lot over the years. I remember in the 1950s when Boise, Idaho persecuted gays, calling us monsters that hid in the bushes in the park and sexually molested teenage boys. The real truth came out that the teenage boys were looking for money and a BJ! Some of the gay college professors were arrested and sent to prison.

I so agree with you, I did the same thing when I stopped going to church and began to learn about myself and to live my life as who I am, not who the church tried to make me believe. These anti-LGBT church discriminators are the real sinners. My lifetime partner of 54 years, married 12 years in Massachusetts, are now both retired and living the American dream.

He really fucked himself up on crystal, didn’t he? That’s my assessment. The religious zeal. The Bachmann-esque crazy eyes. Yup. Fucked himself up on crystal and is now on a never-ending brain-damaged religious guilt trip. In my opinion, of course.

Don’t know why, but Ryan T Anderson comes to mind.
Aa lot ofppl here think Ryan T Anderson is gay but then ppl said the same thing about Thomas Peters and he married a woman.

    • Reality.Bites

      Which means less than nothing

    • BobSF_94117

Elton John married a woman… for a while.

How does one marry one’s self?

    • Gigi

Closet cases marry beards women all the time.

    • Ernest Endevor

Thomas Peters is gay. And if he had any shred of decency he would have divorced his wife and set her free from a life of nursing him. Robby George is also gay. Sherif Gergis, the whole crew. They all are. Ask yourself, what kind of grown man spends his life obsessing about the imaginary sex of others?

And PS. Many gay men marry women. Many also have children.

      • StraightGrandmother

        Oh!
        My!
        God!

        Robby George is gay?
But you might be right, I went to his Wikipedia page and it says nothing about having a wife or children. OMG! OMG! OMG! I think you are right, it all kind of makes sense now to me.

        • Ernest Endevor

Look at him. He surrounds himself with celibate acolytes. What else explains his obsession?

          • StraightGrandmother

This thought never ever occurred to me.
            Celibate acolytes?
Yeah, you’re right. I think you are right.
I am totally blown away with this revelation, I seriously think you are right.
This explains his scorched earth anti gay work. He is strong enough to resist his gayness, everyone can if they only are fervent enough in their faith, just like him. He has to culturally scorch the earth of gays so that he will never succumb.

          • Ernest Endevor

You understand that I can only go on my own experience and common sense. But I find no other explanation. Unlike others, I don’t think he makes a lot of money from this. I could be wrong. Certainly Anderson has ridden this preposterous crusade into a career path. Though it’s one that shuts him out from any serious work or reputation. He boasts of being not only celibate but also of being a sexual virgin.

    • Christopher Smith

Grandmother, ‘the wicked flee when no man pursueth’—straight from their Buybull. (That quote, as you can imagine, don’t get out much!)

      • Ernest Endevor

That’s quite a quote. Did not know that.

        • Christopher Smith

Delicious, innit? Many little gems like that in there, in fact 🙂

          • David Walker

Gee. I wonder how they missed the cherry picker.

    • David Walker

“But he’s married” will always generate a laugh when injected into the script of a gay movie or play. Tom Cruise was always considered gay, but his loyal fans always protested, “But he’s married.” That woman tends to be referred to as a “beard,” allegedly lending masculinity to the gay man. It was and still is rampant.

      • David Walker

To me, the classic example and finest example is Elsa Lanchester and Charles Laughton. She knew he was gay and married him to protect him from the American public, so we could enjoy his talents without knowing his private life. To me, she is admired.

        • Ernest Endevor

Absolutely. To say nothing of Michael Redgrave or Leonard Bernstein.

    • vorpal

      I really hope not :(.

I hate the idea that the most anti-gay are actually gay. They aren’t anywhere near worthy of the label.

Indeed, this notion is why the far-right Christians dismiss most violence against gay people as being gay-on-gay violence. 🙁

      • MB

Or pedophilia as everyday homersexshualist behavior. Thanks to all Gods and Monsters that we got banned from BW. I couldn’t take anymore of their simplistic justification for pedophile rape.

        • vorpal

You know what? For awhile, I thought MAYBE we were putting the slightest hint of a shadow of a twinge of a dent in their anti-gay armor. There were a few of them that actually seemed to genuinely grow fond of me, at least, despite my rampant homosexualismsismsisms!

Then Gina Miller came along and screeched her banshee “love” of discussion all over the forums!

          Blessing in disguise, that was.

The fact that the comment count on that hatefest dropped from 1/2 – 2/3rds post Obergefell speaks volumes. (Easily seen as they post monthly comment counts on the bottom of the front page.)

      • John Kusters

I prefer to think of those anti-gay zealots as homosexuals, not gays. Anyone can be homosexual, but it takes a certain level of self-pride to be gay.

        • vorpal

Disagree, but because I see absolutely nothing shameful or unpleasant in the word “homosexual.” I am NOT going to let the disgusting right-wing trash take MY scientific term and soil it with their vomit. I am gay. I am homosexual. And I am a proud fucking fag!

I see these self-hating people as VICTIMS.

One of the major surprises of my long life is the number of gay men that I know, and know of, who were once married to women. At one time it was almost the only way for gay men to “succeed” in a hostile world . . . and becoming a priest also served that function.

    “reversion to the Catholic faith”
    “reversion to the Faith”

Dude has a mental block when it comes to spelling “perversion.”

    • Claude Jacques Bonhomme

      reversion at Dictionary.com

      noun

      1. the act of turning something the reverse way.

      2. the state of being so turned; reversal.

      3. the act of reverting; return to a former practice, belief, condition, etc.

      4. Biology.
      • reappearance of ancestral characters that have been absent in intervening generations.
      • return to an earlier or primitive type; atavism.

      5. Law.
      • the returning of an estate to the grantor or the grantor’s heirs after the interest granted expires.
      • an estate which so returns.
      • the right of succeeding to an estate.

      6. Archaic. the remains, especially of food or drink after a meal.

As a biologist, I particularly like “return to an earlier or primitive type”.

In case anyone needed further evidence how severely fucked up religion can be in someone’s life.

Trying to please an invisible guy in the sky who will punish you with eternal suffering if you don’t do the things ancient ignorant tribal desert barbarians said were his rules in a book.

It’s heartening to know that people are rapidly fleeing religion, but even more rapidly among the young. Over one third of whom do not identify with any religious belief or practice.

The internet is responsible. The ease of getting knowledge and information. The bringing together of people of various backgrounds, something religion eschews by its nature. The ability to see the arguments against religious beliefs and laugh at its stupidity without the religious being able to put up a convincing defense of their unsubstantiated beliefs.

It was just SO much easier for them when they had control and could chop off your head for speaking against their unevidenced beliefs.

    • BearEyes

it also makes clear how destructive the self-imposed guilt stemming from the poison, that is religion, can be.

    • Schlukitz

      Knowledge is power.

I am really quite surprised that the church has not condemned the Internet and deemed it a sin for any of it’s members to participate in the use of it.

      • Chucktech

Indeed! There might be a couple of reasons for that. The Catholic Church is a ship so huge and slow to the helm that it couldn’t react quickly enough to fast-changing technology. Or, perhaps the Catholic Church picks its battles, knowing that the Internet is bigger than they are.

        • Richard Rush

While growing up I remember being told that God enabled the creation of new communication technology so that the Christian message could be spread to every person around the world. And I was also told that, after a person heard the message, they would be sent to hell if they didn’t believe it. So, perhaps, Christians had delusional high hopes for the internet.

I can’t imagine living your entire life completely conflicted. I have no problem with this man choosing to deny his true self, that is his prerogative. The issue I have is when you decide to try and make everyone else make the same choice as you. Live and let live, just stay out of my life.

    • Richard Rush

Psychological Warfare against gays.

      • NO MORE GOP!

As are many other churches. Some of the fundy Protestant cults would have your skin crawling, nay, galloping. I see this in the religious nuts in my own family. A certain relative always had issues, but when he got a divorce he went off the rails and found religion as a way of expressing and firmly cementing his self-loathing and his disrespect for everyone else who didn’t do what he wanted. The whole bit of constantly moaning about being a sinner is quite off-putting. It’s very hard to keep from suggesting that belaboring the obvious isn’t very impressive and that he might do better to shut up about it and actually spend some effort on being constructive. I think that might not go over well. 🙂

  • John B.

I’ve always found it interesting that “god” gives some people plenty of time to repent, and others, not so much.

    • Schlukitz

Apparently, God has his pets too. 😉

  • TampaZeke

His new-found hetra-sek-shality is as real as his new-found hair.

It’s pretty clear that he was bi-sexual and he’s just chosen to shun and demonize the homosexual side of himself. I think this isn’t too uncommon with these “ex-gay” ass hats. They’re often bisexual, and since THEY have choices they assume that everyone does. Conservatives seem to have a hard time understanding that everyone in the world doesn’t feel or think or reason the same way they do. That’s why the only thing that will ever change a Republican’s mind on an issue is finding out that the issue actually negatively affects them personally.

Mix conservatism with conservative religious beliefs with homo/bi-seshality with shame and a bad toupee, and you get the mess that is Michael Voris.

    • Friday

Of course, being bi doesn’t actually mean life is necessarily as ‘choicey’ as monosexuals assume. You can’t ‘shut down’ half of a bi orientation, never mind for the wrong reasons like shame about being bi in the first place: do that and even your ‘acceptable’ relationships aren’t based on openness and honesty. In his case if he’s actually married, he’s obviously using his wife for a ‘beard’ anyway.

But yeah, conservative monotheism pretty much insists there’s only ‘one right way’ for each sex, or for everything really. Very sociopathically unable to really understand things from other points of view, part of why they can only project their worst possible imaginations from *themselves* on anyone unlike them.

      • Reality.Bites

I firmly believe that bisexuals who don’t want to act on their gay side just don’t and get on with their lives. To devote your life to this I am convinced you have to be 110% gay

        • Friday

I think you firmly believe incorrectly. I don’t have ‘sides’ at all, never mind think I change orientation based on ‘acting’ like the Christians say. I mean, either sex is about as likely to get a first date with me, but honestly usually the ‘straight’ relationships don’t last cause …I don’t just turn into a straight girl cause I’m with a dude. So it’s really just a matter of who I end up spending more of my life with by far, not to mention I really don’t seem to just drop into some ‘straight privilege just like that, anyway.

Rather, I think if you have to repress yourself you’re still not being honest with yourself even with partners of an ‘acceptable’ sex: if this guy’s a bi dude, obviously just ‘not acting on a gay side anymore’ *hasn’t* let him ‘just get on with life,’ ..he’s still obsessed and in a bad way. I can be monogamous for years but it isn’t some ‘struggle’ or nothing. 🙂

          • ZhyKitty

Well said. I think this is why polyamory in my relationships was always easier for me… I fell in love with my husband and my wife and fit right in. We had a good life together.
Since she died almost 10 years ago, it’s mostly been just me and my husband – our wife being irreplaceable on a relationship basis, if not always on a sexual basis.

Human sexuality is just so much more complex for many than the religious would have folks believe.

          • BudClark

            BIG hugs from the desert!

            Bud.

My husband died in 2012, and I find myself missing him more and more, rather than less and less.

          • Friday

Yeah, committed poly is actually probably where I fit best, just don’t think it’s something you can contrive, or at least not very likely. It’s more like when three or four people really just fit together as a whole, I think. 🙂

          • Reality.Bites

What I am saying is that these ex-gays are never bi, only gay. Because I’ve never see any evidence of one of them having any kind of genuine attraction to the opposite sex.

So I guess I don’t really know what bi guys who want to repress their attraction to the same sex do, but one thing I know they don’t do is become ex-gay and spend their lives obsessing with homosexuality while never having a satisfying life with opposite sex partners

          • Friday

Well, I dunno about these ‘ex-gay’ dudes, really only their claims about others. Or the usual noise about people ‘choosing because I don’t believe in bi people.’ I do know it’s totally possible to actually be bi, but still end up in lousy or not-any relationships just from not being honest with yourself. Either way, using someone for a ‘beard’ is using someone for a ‘beard’ regardless.

        • ZhyKitty

It doesn’t really work like that. Being bi, to me, means feeling attraction to people… I don’t feel repulsed by, or more attraction to, any certain gender. I’m not able to “shut off” in any way the way my brain reacts to attractive men or women, and given the opportunity to act on the attraction, I usually do/did.
(More-so in younger years, which was okay in my ‘marriage’.)

I think it’s probably more likely that people like Voris don’t have the opportunities they once did to act on their attractions, which, let’s face it, happens to most of us as we age.
Many of them probably settled for someone who settled for them, then they dug their heels in and went all sour grapes on “homosexuality” because now it costs money to blow a load on a cute rentboy, where once it was free….

I could be wrong, since everyone is different, but I don’t think people who are bi, like me, (and honestly, I’ve always considered myself more of a buffet sexual than a bi sexual, truth be told) can just “choose not to act on it”. The drive and the chemical attraction is just as strong for either/any gender (s)
…if anything, with our attraction pool being larger than it would be for a person who is only attracted to one gender, it’s harder NOT to act (more opportunities = more temptation)….even if you have to sneak, hide, lie, decry, and pay for it because you have now reached middle age in a disaster of a k-mart brand toupee, and no one wants to fuck you for free anymore.

    • Richard Rush

If Voris were truly bi-sexual, I think he would be married by now.

“. . . for most of my years in my thirties, . . . I lived a life of live-in relationships with homosexual men. I was deeply conflicted about all of it. In a large portion of my twenties, I also had frequent sexual liaisons with both adult men and adult women.”

It seems obvious that, by having sex with women in his twenties, he was trying to convince himself that he could be straight. It obviously didn’t work, or he wouldn’t have turned to men exclusively in this thirties.

      • ZhyKitty

Maybe, but, I know my wee gayling could never force himself to have sex with a girl under ANY circumstances. When the other boys talk about sex with girls, he gets a look on his face like he’s smelling a rotten corpse…you can tell the idea repulses him, even when he doesn’t say so. I don’t think a person who is exclusively attracted one way or the other with no leanings in the other direction would be having frequent encounters with a gender for which they have ZERO attraction…it just doesn’t make sense…especially for a male, I’d think…no attraction, no hard on, right?
Anyway, it’s all a moot point now.
With that ridiculous rug on his head, he’s paying for sex if he’s getting it from anyone that would be considered “hot”….or you know…fuckable…

        • Richard Rush

But, was your “wee gayling” raised in an environment that caused him to loath himself for being gay? That, I think, may be the big difference.

          • I believe that her wee gayling is a true Kinsey 6. I have an ex who was and he too would have a visceral reaction much like that of Kitty’s son. While “nurture” is very important I believe that if it isn’t your “nature” you would never be able to get hard/wet/whatever for the opposite sex

      • TampaZeke

This should prove once and for all to all those gays hoping to be loved by their church or the GOP: THEY HATE YOU! It doesn’t matter if you are ex-gay, non-gay, anti-gay or totally raise all the money you can for their causes. If you were gay in the past, they hated you then, hate you now, and will forever hate you.

      • Macbill

The “Three-in-One” aspect always seemed a little schizoid to me.

        • And certainly just a beard to pretend to monotheism; that is 3 gods do not monotheism make.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

I’m often reminded of Prometheus who brought fire to mankind & tried to warn off his brother from accepting Pandora but then was tortured by having his liver picked out every day (his regenerated so the torment lasted until Hercules freed him).

He also cheated the gods by dividing two barrels where he put offal and icky parts on top of the good meat while putting snowy white fat on top of bones so when Zeus picked the barrel of fat as his sacrifice quota from man kind permanently, he was VERY cheezed when he found out none of the stuff underneath the fat cover was meat.

    • I like that the TV show Lucifer (Morningstar) brings this point up a lot.

  • Tor

    Nasty little man.

  • bambinoitaliano

He is still living in a sinful life by deceiving himself and speak ill of others.

    • Herald

Absolutely, quite likely even more sinful, since he is causing so much harm to others.

  • Goddess spare us from self loathing faggots.

  • Macbill

So, he’s Bi, and has he found a female mate. Nothing to see here. Move along.

    • Mike Rasor

Actually no. Voris has never married. He could very well be Bi or he could be a gay guy that has chosen a life of celibacy. If he was Bi and with a woman at least he might be happy, but given just how much vitriol he spews, it’s pretty clear he’s miserable and likely miserable because he can’t accept himself.

      • Macbill

I wonder why he wears a wedding band?

        • Mike Rasor

Did a little research and found out he is a “concecrated lay celibate.” In the RC church it is common for concecrated virgins and concecrated celibate people to receive and wear a ring with their date of concecration that is worn in place of a wedding band.

          • Craig Howell

That’s news to me! But what do they do with that ring when they get swept off their feet by That Certain Someone?

          • Mike Rasor

Well the point of being a concecrated celibate is that you have taken a vow of celibacy without becoming a full priest

          • Or even a monk? I went to an all boys school run by monks (Assumption Abbey in Richarton ND) and always wondered WTF – not a priest, no sex with no path to bishopry, I could not understand.

  • The thing is, there is no such thing as “ex-gay.” There is only “not currently cocksucking,” which is a momentary status at best and primarily dependent on supply.

      • greenmanTN

I think Eugene confused us with Fabio. Apparently, men with long flowing locks are his weakness.

Though if that story was true, he could have least given directions! 😉

      • Reality.Bites

Given fashion trends, I’d guess it was two years before straight men routinely wore long hair. Which was really, never. There was a time in the late 60s where a lot more guys wore long hair, but never most guys in most age groups.

I can’t remember all of it, but look up the prayer that begins ‘Holy Michael, Archangel, defend us in the day of battle …” … that’s the one he’s referring to … also look up the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels in the Catholic Encyclopedia online. There was a HUGE cult of St. Michael that even survived the Reformation in England. That’s why the feast is still in all the Anglican Books of Common Prayer. He was the big, bad demon-slayer in both Testaments.

      • 2guysnamedjoe

“Be our protection against the mallets and snares of the devil,” is the next line, as I recall from the early 60s. I think vatican two put the kibosh on that bit of sweaty overheated prose.

        • BudClark

“wickedness and snares,” I think … it used to be said as part of the prayers for the conversion of Russia after all Low Masses, at least on Sunday. There was a prayer for the State that was supposed to be sung after High Mass, and Widor wrote a whompy-gompy setting with cymbals and drums, but I don’t recall ever hearing it in the U.S. It’s still in the Church of England chant books “for the Sovereign,” but I don’t think anybody does it anymore.

          • George Waite

“Conversion of Russia” to what? Back to Orthodoxy? Or to Catholicism? Because most of the Russians I’ve met would have tolerated the Communists better than being ruled by, say, the Jesuits.
Northern Irish Orangemen have nothing on them in terms of anti-Catholic feeling.

Thanks for this, Lil Kiwi. Those of us who grew up in LGBT-affirming churches are really odd ducks around here…

      • there were a number of non-Christians in the congregation, to boot!
i’m, at this point in my life, an anti-deist. not quite an atheist, but also not a “believer” – and yet there’s nothing that the church i was raised in says or does that causes me any form of “conflict” – it’s affirming, inclusive, and humanist.
some people would call it a “moderate” church – but that’s wholly incorrect. there’s nothing remotely “moderate” about it – their call to action is one of progressive and proactive positive change.

        • George Waite

So, yeah, basically a shrinking group of middle-class white people.

          • i’m very confused – what specifically bothered you about the content of the photos i provided of the program for the church service that day?

          • specifically, what’s the issue you’re taking with what i showed on my blog?

          • George Waite

The praise wasted on a group that supposedly inclusive but which is not only overwhelmingly white but half what it was in 1970.

          • so your specific issue is that the people are white? well, they can’t help being white. most of them were born that way.
but thanks for your answer. at least you proved that you have no intelligent criticism.

          • George Waite

Have they tried to make their group follow its own words? Clearly, if this is still a virtually all-white group after fifty years of “Celebrate diversity!” no. Their programs are either unbelievably ineffective or they just don’t mean it.
Why anyone would take them seriously, except for the elite private schools, is beyond me.

          • Well we’ve sponsored a number of Syrian refugee families. Here’s how congregations work – open to all. But most who attend are from their neighbourhood. People who attend church tend to attend the one closest to where they live.
But thanks again for your comment! It shows you don’t have an intelligent objection and are struggling to find something to complain about.

            Peace be with you.

          • George Waite

Which means they’ll be joining your group?
Obviously then your groups beliefs about ethnic/racial solidarity and justice haven’t cause you to move closer to “people of color”; you’re still obviously quite comfortable in virtually all-white enclaves. Still just preaching but not much moving on these issues. But preaching does make you feel so much better about yourselves, doesn’t it? That and the tax breaks.

          • ohhhh, i get it. you’re one of THOSE people…. you just dislike, and search and twist in a desperate attempt to justify your own prejudices. Got it!

the church is an Affirming one, meaning anyone who is searching for an Affirming congregation can find it online and attend. and everyone there has taken part in dialogues and worships on outreach and diversity.

now, you’re just stomping your foot being upset because…white people did it. ok. because that makes sense. 😉
            LOL

i’m an atheist, but i can’t be upset about anything i’ve ever heard in a sunday service. it’s always been about helping others.
i showed pictures of the program from that specific LGBT service. you’re just choosing to sit and insist there’s nothing positive about it.
            you poor thing.
i’m sorry nobody in your family ever did this for you.

          • George Waite

I’m an atheist, so why should I bother listening to an ideology I don’t believe in? Why get up and sing ridiculous songs and take part in freaky rituals? Why waste my time on nonsense?

          • why get upset about an affirming, humanistic, non-dogmatic group who provide an outlet for people to engage in something spiritual, while also promoting an outright championing of the LGBT community, diversity and equality?

you don’t need to listen to it. it’s more than fine if you don’t. what’s so telling about your own failings is that you can’t see the positivity in what they’re doing.

          • George Waite

I can see the (very limited) positivity; what I don’t see is why I sould support them with tax breaks.

          • I’m one who firmly believes all religious institutions should be taxed.

  • DesertSun59

Oops. You all know precisely how this works, right? Look for his Grindr/Scruff account. Check his browser history. Etc.

He’s attempting to misdirect your attention from himself.

  • Michael

I’m a Christian, too, saved by the grace of Jesus. I’m still gay and still saved. Being gay and Christian is not an either/or proposition. If anti-gay activist Voris was sleeping with men and women, there’s a word for that. Not “ex-gay,” but bisexual.

    • Taleisin

That isn’t how a ‘real man’ views his sexuality. It a real man hetero even thinks a gay thought, he might be a bit be gay!!! So if he had gay sex even once, that would mean, deep down, he IS gay. And the memory will nag him for years.

See. Being a straight white male is harder than you think. 😉

    • Robert Conner

Buy sexual. There, fixed that for you.

  • coram nobis

The trouble is not that he lives this repent-and-pretend-i’m-not lifestyle. It’s that he now wants to enforce it on the rest of us. Even if there isn’t real hypocrisy in this it’s still a closet.

“Church Militant?” Is he a George R. R. Martin fan? Actually, probably not, or he would’t have chosen that name, similar to the fanatical Faith Militant.

Great scene with Lena Heady and Jonathan Pryce (If you haven’t watched Season 5, don’t watch, obvs).

    • grada3784

The RCC refers to living Church members as the Church Militant. The dead ones comprise the Church Triumphant.

      • KnownDonorDad

Ah, then it was GRRM who was cribbing a bit. He did say he modeled them after the Catholic Church during the Inquisition to some extent. Thanks for that.

  • Robert Conner

Maybe Voris should start calling himself Michael Magdalene “from whom seven devils came out.”

“…and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary called Magdalene from whom seven devils had come out…(Luke 8:2)

Sounds suspiciously like the idea behind his grift. Christians are always suckers for a good ‘come-to-Jesus’ con game.

    Hmmm…now that I think of it…

  • Claude Jacques Bonhomme

“It was miraculous. It was almost no trick at all, he saw, to turn vice into virtue and slander into truth, impotence into abstinence, arrogance into humility, plunder into philanthropy, thievery into honor, blasphemy into wisdom, brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice. Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all. It merely required no character.” — Joseph Heller, Catch-22

EWTN, Fundie Catholicism’s favorite TV network, has had a slew of former speakers and talking heads freak out in one way or another, everything from Franciscan friars marrying women and going on to sell “health shakes” to Priest Corapi getting kicked out by his own order and starting “Lone Wolf” websites.
      Religion is such a mess.

Yeah, it looks cute on the right prep school or frat guy, the kind of guy who’s spent four years on the college crew team, drives his mom’s old Volvo to his job serving scotch to rich old alcoholics at the yacht club, and goes running in the rain in a paper-thin tshirt and shorts with the family golden retriever. The kind of guy with big, gentle hands and a natural, killer smile.

Other than that, it looks fucking stupid.

Living life, trying to figure out life and one’s self, having consensual sex with other adults = SIN SIN SIN

It’s amazing to me the contortions that certain ordinary people doing ordinary things will put themselves through, to fit themselves into some SIN box invented by some bunch of creepy sadists. Why would anybody do this? There must be money involved, is all I can figure.

  • Craig Howell

When he talks of his “reversion” to Holy Mother The Church Inc., I think we should substitute “regression.”

  • peterparker

Taking one look at Michael Voris’ cheeks–or lack thereof–in that video, I’d wager he is HIV+, and, like so many other men lucky enough to take anti-retrovirals when triple cocktail therapy arrived, he lost all the fat underlying the muscles in his face, giving him that gaunt, prematurely aged look. If this speculation is correct, one wonders if the trauma of an HIV diagnosis caused him to lose his mind and cling to religion in an effort to save himself. Someone needs to tell Michael that advances in medicine mean that, so long as he continues to treat his disease, he isn’t going to die of HIV, isn’t going to transmit his infection to HIV negative guys, and can therefore go back to sucking dick.

    • I have always wondered why that ‘fat therapy’ has not somehow been promoted as a weight-loss program!? I first remember hearing about it from someone skating around Greenlake; she said that people would come up to her and comment on her muscle definition. She had not noticed it before but she had none of the normal sub-dermal fat and her muscles stood out like those of a gymnast. (I forget how many years ago this was – maybe the late ’80s) I imagine that someone somewhere is trying to disconnect the effect from the disease.

      Voris trying a new gig?

  • billbear1961

So, this is all about self-loathing, is it? Pathetic!

You’re unhappy, so everyone in the LGBT community must be, as well; and you make it your mission to see to it we’re all as persecuted and miserable as possible.

Listen, JACKASS–there is no ONE way to “be gay.” NOTHING says you have to be wildly promiscuous or partake in a nightlife you find “sinful.”

You could settle down into a monogamous and loving, “old-fashioned” relationship with a man, or you could even decide to live a chaste and celibate life if sex isn’t for you or makes you uncomfortable.

But where do you GET OFF seeking to strip an ENTIRE community of their fundamental civil rights because YOU disapprove of them and of YOUR past life, which no one FORCED on you?!

Are OTHER “sinners” to be targeted next, or do you remain too OBSESSED with those who remind you most of YOURSELF?!

Take your two-faced “mercy of God,” you mealy-mouthed FRAUD, and ram it up your ass and your Church’s, while you’re at it!

    “Benevolent” Catholic dictatorship??

Ram that UP your filthy, little ass at the same time–there’s no such THING as a benevolent dictatorship!

You say you sacrificed or put at risk your masculinity by giving in to your NATURAL orientation??

Any man who think his “masculinity” is primarily defined by the person or people he sleeps with and/or loves is a FOOL.

But so MANY other things in your statement have already made that crystal CLEAR about you.

Punish YOURSELF if it is your SICK wish to do so, you stupid PRICK; but leave your hands OFF the RIGHTS of OTHERS!!

    • Wild applause.

      • billbear1961

        Nice to see you, Plum!

I see you will be voting for Bernie in the primary and, in November, for whichever Democrat wins the nomination.

That’s all this Hillary supporter can ask of you!

        Thank you!

        And cheers!

        🙂

        • Good to see you, Billbear. I am a sane Bernie fan. I am glad he keeps driving Hillary to the left.

          • billbear1961

THAT is the single best thing he has done, that and make inroads among the young!

I hope that will lead to a growing progressive movement that no government will be able to ignore in the future!

And one day, perhaps soon, the U.S. will finally know the JUSTICE of a social democracy!

            🙂

          • Meanwhile, we keep on trucking.

          • George Waite

            Meanwhile, keep on USING CAPS?

  • Raising_Rlyeh

“I gave up myself — my masculinity”
    Fuck you, that is all.

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

What a mess. All he is doing is making himself even more unhappy. If he’s lucky he’ll end up like that guy who got busted going into a gay bar and finally came clean and live a free life. If he’s unlucky, he’ll die alone knowing he fucked up with only his wig to keep him company.

Also his hair reminds me of Trump’s.

  • Richard Childress

Predictably, most of the coments here reflect almost complete ignorance of Catholicism, sin, forgiveness and confession. Predictably LGBT people here who are insane with demonic anger because Voris once lived this way, decided to leave it, repented and put it behind him, and that you know this but refuse to do the same. Just because Voris was involved in it once does not discredit him from being allowed to comment on it now, in fact it makes him even more qualified because he has been there.

    • billbear1961

Look at OUR behaviour, you FRAUD, standing up for the constitutionally guaranteed RIGHT to the EQUAL protection of the laws for ALL in a FREE society; and look at the relentless LIES and callous HYPOCRISY of YOUR side; and then tell me WHO is afflicted with DEMONIC anger.

Our anger is RIGHTEOUS, and YOU are guilty of the foul and mortal sin of CALUMNY.

ROT in YOUR hell with your vile Church of RAPISTS, preying on helpless, little CHILDREN!!

(Look at my response to this story a few posts further down on this thread, and see what fault you can find with it, you delusional, self-righteous PRICK and COWARD.)

      • George Waite

there is NO God, but we should still use CAPS all the time.

    • Stev84

Demons, yes. That must be it.

    • billbear1961

      Eat me, Richard . . .

    • Ray Muñez

I watched his whole statement. He says that 1) his mother prayed for suffering which would somehow jolt him out of gayness, 2) God gave his mother fatal stomach cancer, 3) this made him “leave the lifestyle” BUT, 4) he’s celibate now, not heterosexual. Maybe as an expert in Catholicism you can tell me where can I find this cancer-for-non-gayness exchange in the Bible. And if God had to kill the guy’s mother, why couldn’t Voris get heterosexuality out of the deal?

  • greenmanTN

What IS that on his head?! A cat went missing in my neighborhood recently and if I find he’s behind it there’s gonna be trouble! 😉

    • billbear1961

I think it may be related to what’s on Drumpf’s!

      • greenmanTN

Nah, Trump’s hair looks more like either cotton candy or fiberglass insulation! 😉

        • billbear1961

          The latter!

          🙂

  • Keppler2

How very sad that this individual could not reconcile his sexuality as wholesome and appropriate with his attachment to and active participation in his faith. If he is happy and free from guilt, so be it. If he is deluding himself, he is slowly relinquishing a life that could be carefree and joyous for one that may very well an unnecessary one of ongoing grief.

  • DuaneBidoux

Now he’s probably victimizing some poor straight woman he can never possibly love.

  • Jaywithwords

All i feel is sadness for him. He could have continued to be happy with himself, but instead now lives a life where he’s being shamed by the very religion he felt he needed to turn to.

I feel certain that if someone would post an article about this guy in his local Detroit gay websites, asking for anyone who saw him at gay bars/baths or had sex with him via Grind’r, etc, there would be plenty of responses. Let’s see if we can prove this guy is a liar about his sexuality.
Also, he never won four Emmy’s, as he claims. His local station won four regional Emmys and he took the credit, making it sound like they were in his name and knowing people would assume that when you say Emmy, you are talking national awards.

  • dzerres

Nothing worse than a converted “sinner” because they think EVERYONE is equally sinful and has the same weakness of character.

  • Rusty Reiter

There are reports of 3 gay men from the recent cruise of Michael Voris possessing compromising videos of him, the wigged one. I sure hope someone PULLS THE RUG OUT FROM OVER HIM.

  • LWC

    Great article.

Voris truly epitomizes the latent, self-loathing homosexual. He’s forced more souls from Christ than toward Christ. One can only hope he’s held to account for a balance of souls that is as red and flowing as his soulmate Raymond Burkes’s cappa magna.

    Are you on Twitter?

  • Rusty Reiter

Michael Voris was just ‘confused’ from his teens to his mid-40’s when he came back to the one true church. It was not his fault all those homosexual men kept coming onto him. He was never gay, just his boyfriends were.

  • Rusty Reiter

Michael Voris has said many times that gays are all child molestors. Now he comes out as an ex-gay. Anyone putting two and two together now?

  • Rusty Reiter

Michael Voris claimed many times that part of the gay lifestyle includes molesting kids. Now he comes out as having lived a gay lifestyle most of his life. His fans call him brave, but his own words leave us with a scary implication.
