Yesterday Mike Huckabee assured supporters in Des Moines that he would not drop out after tonight. “I’m not getting out of the race. I’m staying in and I’m going to do great tomorrow night and keep going and win the White House.” Yeah, so much for that. Expect Huckabee to endorse Ted Cruz shortly.

Moments ago Canadian immigrant Ted Cruz was declared the winner of tonight’s GOP Iowa caucus, taking 28% of the vote to Donald Trump’s 24%.  Marco Rubio surprised many by finishing very close to Trump with 23%. It’s expected that Huckabee and Santorum (at least) will shortly announce the end of their campaigns.

After finishing a distant third in tonight’s Iowa caucus, Martin O’Malley’s campaign announced that he will suspend his campaign this evening in Des Moines at a meeting with supporters. We should hear shortly about tonight’s GOP casualties.
