Trump Blames “Lousy Earpiece” For KKK Flap [VIDEO]

Oh brother. Via The Hill:

Donald Trump on Monday blamed a poor earpiece for sparking a misunderstanding over white nationalist David Duke’s support of the GOP presidential front-runner. “I’m sitting in a house in Florida with a very bad earpiece they gave me,” he told hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s “Today” show

“I sit down and I have a lousy earpiece provided by them,” Trump continued. “You could hardly hear what [CNN anchor Jake Tapper] was saying. “What I heard was ‘various groups.’ I have no problem disavowing groups but I’d at least like to know who they are. It’d be very unfair disavowing a group if they shouldn’t be disavowed.”

As you’ll see in the second clip below, Rubio isn’t having it.

  • Paula

Its a poor craftsman that blames his tools.

    • Lazycrockett

A part of his plan to make Murica Great Again, bring back quality craftsmanship.

    • Rex

It’s a pompous tool that blames anything and everyone else.

    • Marides48

      …and it’s such a small tool.

    • b

How can the media be blamed for electing Donald Trump?? It’s his OWN WORDS. If Republicans don’t want the media mountain lion to pounce, do’t say the words. He won’t disavow the KKK?? THE KKK! Are you kidding me? They have a history of HANGING other men and tying them to their car bumpers and dragging them to death. Really?? Media media.

  • Rex

Bad earpiece my a**, what he has is a bad ear – he only hears what he wants to.

    • Herald

Reminds me of an elderly friend who would turn off his hearing aid when his wife would start going on and on. Every time he did it around me he would look at me and slyly wink!

    • sherman

Bad ear. Also known as a “Republicon ear”.

    • Michael Rush

The ear bone is connected to the brain bone .

    • thatotherjean

I’d be more likely to blame a “come to Jesus” meeting with his advisers for his walking back his refusal to disavow David Duke’s support. Misunderstanding what he was being asked to disavow is entirely too convenient. Besides, how do you mistake “KKK” for “various groups”?

  • hiker_sf

It what those damn minorities who made the earpeace.

  • Lazycrockett

It’s just weird that charges of racism would stick to a candidate from the republican party.

    • David Walker

      I’m certainly stymied.

  • HanyBaal

Don’t the Jews control media? They probably have it in for him.

  • kirtanloorii

Ok, so now that it’s all cleared up, will he now disavow the KKK?

    • not until a bit later.

    • Ray Taylor

No he does not believe in being kind to kinky kittens.

    • Yixing’s Fluffer

Yes, no, and magenta. Check back Wednesday for additional options.

    • Traxley Launderette

He said he did Friday, then he said he didn’t know who David Duke was, then he disavowed him last night.

      So… yeah.

      No.

      Maybe.

      Who the fuck knows.

    • MB

      Reply hazy, try again

      Ask again later

      Better not tell you now

      Cannot predict now

      Concentrate and ask again

    • 2guysnamedjoe

Depends on the audience. Depends where he’s speaking.

  • hiker_sf

He’s had a faulty hairpiece for years. Oh, you said earpiece? Never mind.

    • Michael Rush
    • geoffalnutt

I just spit coffee all over the cat….loudly. He is not pleased.

      • David Walker

So he licks himself clean and spends the rest of the day rocketing around the house. Happy Leap Day.

  • Michael Smith

Rubio doesn’t sound much better than Trump when he claims the media is conspiring to make Trump the nominee and get Clinton elected. And he’s supposed to be the mainstream candidate?

  • Lazycrockett

Watching the Tapper interview Drumpf doesn’t seem to have any problems hearing him.

  • RJ Bone

Nice try, Grump. My god (ironically), this man lies just waking up!

  • bkmn

    ..

    • Michael Rush

      someone took a Drumpf

  • Michael Rush

He repeats the name David Duke and the words white supremacy / white supremacists a few times in the interview that he claims he can’t hear .

    • TuuxKabin

Didn’t mean to echo you, I typed my thread before reading your comment, which are worth repeating to the choir.

    • b

It’s all propaganda technique and fallacy arguments. He snuggle is “Blame the messenger.” They gave him the wrong technology to communicate. That was the most scantily-clad whore argument he ever used.

    • CatCope

Michael, you took the words right out of my brain. I just didn’t make it here B4 you. Must be one of those earpieces from China. Also, too, a little cherry pickin’ with words he didn’t hear. I’m so confused.

  • BULLSHIT.

    • David Walker

      Drumpf droppings! Drumpf doo-doo!

  • Cuberly

And Hucksterbee is on TV defending him. Ha! F’n tone deaf as usual.

    • TampaDink

That is the same asshole who defends the duggaring Duggars.

  • no trump fan here, but i am the daughter of people who have earplugs and are on TV. it happens. maybe he’s lying, maybe he’s not. i’m not voting for him.

what i do think is very interesting is the way he keeps hitting on actual truths, where no other person vying for the R nom will. this is why he’s popular, folks. he may lie. he may exaggerate. but like that person i’m not supposed to mention, he spins in just enough believable truth to be popular.

i really wish the “pros” at the DNC could understand this. the don’t, and/or they won’t. dem pros make too much money pushing a mushy line, ignoring the danger of populism, b/c they have nice paychecks and know they can retire in France if shit goes bad here.

  • WNY

    ..

    • JR

      This.

  • Blake Mason

Did he admit to having a bad hair-piece?

  • TuuxKabin

Then why not say you have a lousy ear/hair piece at the time of the interview? Sounded as if you heard the name David Duke and white supremacy groups clearly enough.

It’s hopeless, this man is going to lie his way to the White House.

    • David Walker

      Drumpf!

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

His supporters don’t give a rip about his lies or his hate, or anything.
I’ve known this farmer- guy for years ( online ) and today he said :

“…they could find a hitler blowup doll in Trump`s dresser drawer and I`m so pissed, i`ll vote for him anyway. “

            You lose.

“Bill Perdue” is probably seven guys. let’s suppress voter turnout by discouraging the liberals! Let’s tell them that both parties are the same! The parties are both controlled by unseen powerful interests, so they will get really sad and won’t turn out to vote!! What a plan!!!!! GREAT PLAN!!!

But the parties actually have to be similar for the propaganda to be successful. One party can’t can’t have a candidate that won’t renounce David Duke and the KKK, while the other party has championed equality for gay families. So BAD PLAN BOYS! FAIL!

          • Bill_Perdue

            Hi vorpal

          • Max_1

Actually, I think BP is D. Drumpf… I mean, look at all the one-two syllable names he calls people; Dunce. Stupid. Racist. ect.

Only Drumpf talks like that about other people…
            Makes him fell smart, again.

          • b

“Bill Perdue” is a conservative bot. He is trying to “dispirit” us, by bring out our “more liberal” mentality. We don’t have a more “liberal” side, we just want sense.

They think they can get us all discouraged!!! Both parties are the same!!!! They are controlled by the rich and powerful!!!! I hate the rich and powerful!!!! Bullshit. We don’t hate the rich, we just want them to act responsibly you asshole.

So enough, “Bill Perdue.” You are just a right-wing jerk who doesn’t deserve his pay.

          • Bad Tom

Based on multiple day polls conducted by telephone

It’s illegal to randomly call people on their cell phones. So, these polls were conducted on land lines, which is a shrinking demographic.

I still have a land line. But I also have caller ID. If whoever is calling isn’t someone I know, or keeps their information private,* I don’t answer.

Response rates in telephone surveys are famously in the single digits. This is a real problem for pollsters.

            ——-
            * I find it remarkable that people cloak their identity when telephoning me, yet expect me to leap up and answer their call without knowing who it is.

          • Bill_Perdue

Blame the messenger. It won’t help you Republicans or your Democrat brothers and sisters. Or is it the other way around. No matter.

          • Bad Tom

Since it doesn’t matter, why are you arguing?
            ——-

You would be the one to know.

          • Bill_Perdue

I do facts, you do BS.

Democrats are just as conned, only in politer tones. Ask a group of liberals what they want in a candidate, and you’ll get a sketch of a champion who will fight for income equality, rein in big banks, defeat ruinous trade agreements, restore our battered civil liberties, look to diplomacy before war, and stop the devastation of our climate. Sure enough, in every election year Democratic candidates come along peddling such wares as these, and the winners go off to D.C. and sock it to the suckers who sent them—shipping their jobs abroad with NAFTA and TPP, deregulating the banks that are screwing them, gutting welfare, ignoring calls for a living wage, logging old-growth forests, drilling the Arctic, spying home and abroad with abandon, beating back calls for universal healthcare, canning whistleblowers, fighting endless wars, torturing prisoners, and much, much more. Like the Republican con men, their Democratic counterparts will defend the worst assaults on Roe v. Wade (and avert their eyes as the states whittle Roe to nothingness—parental notification, anyone? waiting periods? admitting privileges?), will pass a family medical leave bill (unpaid, naturally, and applying only to businesses with 50 or more employees), will make the most token of gestures against global warming (must “nonbinding” precede every international “agreement”?)—in a word, scraps. This program, like the beast, goes by many names: triangulation, the Third Way, “reaching across the aisle,” “getting things done.” http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/01/22/hillary-clinton-and-the-northern-strategy/

Fortunaltely people are deserting your two parties by the scores of millions. ”PRINCETON, N.J. — In 2015, for the fifth consecutive year, at least four in 10 U.S. adults identified as political independents. The 42% identifying as independents in 2015 was down slightly from the record 43% in 2014. This elevated percentage of political independents leaves Democratic (29%) and Republican (26%) identification at or near recent low points, with the modest Democratic advantage roughly where it has been over the past five years.” The jokes on you. • Bill_Perdue

Say whatever you want, the fact remains that you actually prefer a warmed over bigot and racist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dY77j6uBHI
You and your party are as bankrupt as Trump and his new party.

          • Michael Rush

I’ve actually never said a word about Hillary .

          • Bill_Perdue

The McCarthyite impulse in strong in losers like you.

          • Michael Rush

McCarthy was a broken record like you .

          • Bill_Perdue

You’re a Mccarthyite and a sore loser with a fixation on the ideas that prove you bankrupt.

          • Michael Rush

You have no idea how meaningless that is , it must be thrilling being you .

          • Bill_Perdue

You’re a boring McCarthyite and a sore loser with a fixation on the ideas that prove you bankrupt.

          • Michael Rush

Remember the broken record thing i was talking about ?
Can you remember back that far ?
            You did it again .

          • Bill_Perdue

I remember how boring your are.

          • Max_1

Yet, the Democratic Socialist running still is bashed by you…
Bill, Bill, Bill… never happy Bill.

You could be screaming that the sun isn’t bright enough on a cloud free day… And then complain that the clouds are just the same, not bright enough.

Bill, the fact is, you are never satisfied.
Your BF could give you a bj… and you would complain that any girl is just the same. You are just never happy.

          • Bill_Perdue

            Psycho babble.
Sanders is a Democrat, not a socialist.

  • Necessitas

Won’t even speak up about a bad earpiece; wants to be President of America.

  • Soooo… he had a lousy earpiece, but he’s still OK with the KKK? I’m not seeing any disavowin’ here.

  • witch

Next some kitten will be blamed o.O

  • LADY MABELINE

I can just picture him as president declaring ” Gee,I didn’t mean to nuke Denmark,I just misheard the advice about the threat it posed” This dude is a real nut.

  • Prion

    ,,,

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

    Hope and Optimism?!?!? WTF?!?!

  • Dave B

It doesn’t matter at this point, his racist supporters got the news Drumpf wouldn’t disavow the KKK and Duke. They know it’s just a formality to do it now.

  • Johnny Wyeknot

He learned this trick from President Reagan who would take questions as he was getting on AF1 and if he didn’t like the question he would cup his hand at his ear and scrug like he couldn’t hear.

    • Oh’behr

Thanks for sharing that as I forgot that Reagan did it.

  • 2patricius2

He’s never responsible for anything, unless it is being able to accomplish pie-in-the-sky fantasies.

    • MrSkippy

Which is a classic sign of narcissism. Take all the credit and never any of the blame.

Good shit happens? “I did that.” Bad shit happens “They did that.”

Praise him “He’s a respected guy really!” Criticize him “He’s a pathetic looser really! Sad!”

      • Natty Enquirer

Makes him the perfect leader for ‘murica.

        • MrSkippy

Right! It’s just too bad that’s not actually a country… I’d be happy to let him and all his morons go live there and build their damned walls.

  • CB

So his IFB went out for ONE question. And he didn’t say anything about that in the interview. What a transparent liar and utter buffoon. I know, tell us something we don’t know.

  • DaveMiller135

The buck stops over there. Does he even know what Presidents do?

  • Gene Perry

DO NOT FOOL YOURSELF ! tRump cannot disavow the Klan … they’re voting for him. How many of his supporters are wearing their robes (figuratively) under their clothes when they enter the voting booth? There are a lot of back-water racist rednecks in the GOP. Some of them in the House & Senate, and more than a few in various State legislatures.

  • Alan43

“When he said ‘David Duke’ I thought he said ‘Daisy Duke’ and I thought. ‘Boy, I’d love an endorsement from her as much as those short shorts she used to wear'”

  • lymis

It’s still all bullshit. An explanation of why he didn’t condemn the Klan at the time, without including an even clearer condemnation of the Klan as part of the explanation, is an endorsement of the Klan.

Does anyone believe Trump would have continued an interview on national television with an earpiece that made him incapable of hearing the interview?

    I don’t.

  • TheManicMechanic

    Bull. Shit.

  • EdmondWherever

Republicans, I wish you’d quit claiming Lincoln. Yes, he was a Republican, but at a time when the Republicans were the liberals, and the Democrats were the conservatives. The parties have both switched their values since then. Lincoln’s party may have used the same name that yours is using today, but he was not one of you.

    • popebuck1

It’s not their fault that “the party of Nixon and Joe McCarthy” tested so badly.

  • SFBruce

The interview with Tapper lasted for over 7 minutes, but at no time during that interview did Trump ask Tapper to repeat himself, or in any way indicate he couldn’t understand him. What’s more, Trump said 3 times he didn’t know who Duke was, even though he had disavowed him the prior Friday. I’ve never heard a politician with such a fragile relationship with the truth, and yet his supporters continue to like him because he’s “authentic” and “tells it like it is.” This man, who wants to make it easier for politicans to sue the press for libel, is a danger to democracy.

    The interview with Tapper:

    • Paige Turner

Let me put it like this.

      He is lying. Again.

He also has absolutely no problem with doing so. People with cluster B personality disorders do this every day. They never make mistakes and its always everyone else’s fault when things go wrong.

Trying to understand this and use logic and reason is a total waste of time. As bad as Rubio is (and I despise him) his response to Trump is all that there is left in this race. Humiliation and juvenile games.

  • popebuck1

The party of personal responsibility, folks. It’s Obama’s fault! It’s the media’s fault! It’s EVERYBODY’S fault except mine!

  • Talisman

Lying liar lies. End of story.

  • justmeeeee

pick me! pick me! pick me!

  • Gindy51

    Liar.

  • EdA

Should it actually be true that the Trumpster did not recognize David Duke’s name, that would be pretty conclusive — if unbelievable — evidence that Trump had been paying no attention to much that has made it to the news over the past decade. Sure.

  • Bruno

Our next president — thanks amurkkka

    Amurkkka is GREAT!

  • 2guysnamedjoe

Trumpf and his paid sycophants at their morning strategy meeting, rolling on the floor laughing and giggling after coming up with the earpiece excuse:
“Tw*t? Tw*t did you say? I c*n’t hear you! I have an inf*cktion in my ear!”

    • Bruno

I love love LOVE your comment but really, this isn’t fuckin’ funny any more. It really isn’t.

Trump has a very real chance of getting elected. Donald Trump. YOUR president. We have a Supreme Court with a vacancy and a rethug controlled congress.

What are YOU gonna do about getting people to vote. We all know that poor and minority communities don’t vote but fuck, the changes we could make if we all did.

A lot of what we are seeing now is the death of the straight white man rule — they are very threatened and so we now have potential laws about extreme abortion restriction and of course the faux religious persecution when it comes to gay marriage (i.e., I don’t want to marry fag men).

I joked about T-Rump about 3 months ago but now…its just not fucki get funny

      • 2guysnamedjoe

I agree. Thanks for your response. I keep telling myself that these guys, with the social- and self-awareness of 1950s-era pre-adolescents, could never possibly be elected. But there they are, and millions of my fellow Americans think they’re just great.
As for what I’m gonna do, I dunno. I live in a solidly blue state, so I guess the best I can do from here is an occasional contribution to the dreaded DNC.
If you or any of you other JMG folks can suggest more substantial or more useful contributions, please do.

  • TampaDink

    More free advertising for Drumpf.

  • Michael Hampton

I am sure that the ‘faulty earpiece’ excuse will make us all feel better during a nuclear war we are embroiled in because Trump didn’t hear the other world leader clearly.

  • He should borrow George W’s earpiece. The one that got him through the debate with Kerry. But he’ll have to remember not to argue with it in front of a live audience.

  • amati1684

As with his comment about the IRS persecuting him because he’s such a “strong christian,” Trump attempts to take cover in thread-bare mendacity. It won’t wash with anyone possessing a brain the size of a pea. We all know Trump’s only god is Trump.

  • RainbowPhoenix

Even when I’m not wearing my hearing aids, KKK is a distinctive enough sound that I would have little trouble picking it out.

  • edrex
  • Henri205

The intellectual giants at Conservapedia have weighed in:

The race card is the latest act of desperation by liberals in trying to stop Donald Trump: the lamestream media and White House try to link him to the KKK. Trump responded that he has repeatedly disavowed such support. [2]

  • Robert Conner

Lousy hairpiece I would have believed.

  • bob

I’m confused by all this. I would think that most kkk members are republican and they probably vote. If cruz , rubio and trump don’t want their votes , who do they support? I think all three would take those votes , but don’t want anyone to know.

  • Donald J Drumpf is a bald-faced baby-handed liar.

  • Matthew Hatfield

    Weapons grade bullshit from Trump.

  • Claude Jacques Bonhomme

He mentioned not knowing David Duke and white supremacy in his answer, and claimed he didn’t know about them. How can a faulty earpiece explain that?

I think what is faulty is his hairpiece and what lies below.

  • JCF

If he blamed a “lousy hairpiece”, I’d at least be willing to consider it!

  • Max_1
