VIRAL VIDEO: Snowboarding In Manhattan

Going viral today is the below clip of a couple of guys being towed on snowboards last night through the streets of Manhattan. Somehow they were not arrested by the NYPD, although the cops did speak to them at least once. Watch below.

  • bkmn

He is wearing far too much clothing.

  • Steven Leahy

The best thing about snow is that it melts.

    • KCMC

disappearing quickly here today, Mr Sun has returned!

  • Wow look at all those people violating martial law. I wonder if Uncle Touchy Starnes saw this?

    • LonelyLiberal

Naw, he’s too busy searching for the next “outrage” to actually witness reality.

      • I see him sitting at his computer, in a room he refers to as his library, furiously wanking to photos of Crutzy and tRump, Rubio-isky.

      • PLAINTOM

With his lack of consistency, his next outrage will be the lawless youths violating the law. The libertine Mayor allowing kids to go wild. Wait for it.

  • Toasterlad

Of course he wasn’t arrested…he’s white.

  • LonelyLiberal

    What did the officer say?

    • TuuxKabin

      Get off my snow!

    • Andy King

“Someone complained, so we’re just gonna act like we’re talking to you”, basically saying they weren’t going to take action against them.

  • Octavio

Looks as though only one is on a snowboard. The other is on skis. LOL! Great way to ruin the bases of both. Poor flat landers. 🙂

    • TuuxKabin

      Poor idiot flat liners . . . I know I’m old and grumpy, but those guys were endangering others as well as themselves. Maybe it’s my sciatica talking, which continues to lessen every time I practice one of those stretches. Thanks again Octavio! You’re a gem. A real Pearl or Ruby. s/ ;+}

And, maybe, like Toasterlad threads below . . . just sayin’.

      • Octavio

Here’s a link to two more exercises that, if done every day for about 15 minutes, will help eliminate sciatica pain. However, the one where you lean forward on a chair or railing with one leg crossed over the other knee and slowly dipping down while keeping your back straight is the one for immediate pain relief. Good luck. http://www.healthline.com/health/back-pain/sciatic-stretches#3

  • TuuxKabin

Not so much snowboarding with the NYPD, but snowboarding in spite of the NYPD . . . and any concern for public safety. Ah, the privileged, with their play toys.

    • Friday

Eh, sometimes a bit of whimsy’s important. Especially when a bunch of idiot Righties are trying to politicize it. 🙂

  • anne marie in philly

snowplow guy just visited my house! I now have 6 foot snow piles at the edges of the driveway; those things are taller than I am!

    • CanuckDon

      Enjoy!

      • David Walker

Oh, stop it. I don’t know what anne marie got, but we got 30.2″. The seasonal average is 30.6″. We’re supposed to get another snow on Wednesday (sort of like an aftershock), but I’m hoping for 0.4″ and then it’ll be over with.

        • CanuckDon

Admittedly, it is very rare to get that heavy of a snowfall all at once in this part of southwestern Ontario. That is a nightmare and would be very stressful. Now in the northern parts of the province around Sault Ste. Marie and North Bay, they would call that a typical winter but then down here in these balmier parts, our toques are made of satin! lol

    • bkmn

Back when we lived in MN it seemed like the snowplow always came about 20 minutes after the driveway was shoveled. In MN you have to deal with the snowplow piles before the mess freezes and becomes permanent until spring.

      • anne marie in philly

currently 33F and melting the driveway; can spring be far behind?

        • stuckinthewoods

NOAA’s prediction for Nov. and Dec. and the first half of Jan. were for mild, so accurate. For late Jan and Feb they said it was a gamble, but that could be very snowy. I’ll be happy to have just the regularly scheduled spring.

          • anne marie in philly

            me too!

        • bkmn

Driving back home from Seattle last week I saw a stand of trees near the Puget Sound that were loaded up with red buds. I assume it is similar here to what I was used to in MN where the red tipped budded trees are the first to leaf out. Still wrapping my head around spring starting in January. Back in MN if you were lucky you got two weeks of spring in late April/early May before it got hot.

          • Octavio

I always liked January in SLC. The skiing was good. And then February happened with usually two weeks of fake spring weather before it would snow until the middle of June. 🙂

    • LonelyLiberal

We cleaned off last night, taking down the three foot pile. There’s another 2 1/2 foot pile out there I’m about to go clean off.

All things considered, I’m glad I did it twice. Neither one was/is particularly stressful.

      • anne marie in philly

my guy plowed yesterday morning, then this afternoon. he is worth every penny I pay him.

        • BobSF_94117

          So biting my tongue…

          • anne marie in philly

hee hee hee! nope, the snowplow guy is NOT a looker!

      • Friday

That’s basically the way to do it, it does *not* get easier if you have to do the whole five feet at once. 🙂

        • LonelyLiberal

Mine was easy, zip, zip and done.

My mother’s was not. The guy who was supposed to at least possibly think about maybe going over it once during the storm of course didn’t do that.

Just to get to the snowblower in the garage I had to climb over (and kind of through) a 4 1/2′ pile of snow across the driveway.

It’s about a third done, and there’s space for a car to get into the driveway. Barely. We’ll continue on tomorrow.

Please accept my apologies for the OT, but I hope Joe does a post about Ted “Sweat On My Butt” Cruz in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt-vG_TdOT4&feature=youtu.be

So this sanctimonious, profoundly gay-hostile, family values Christian conservative once aspired to be in “a teen tit film.”

    • TampaDink

      That is frightening.

      • Herald

Actually, TERRIFYING! is how it hits me. Especially because he has achieved the rich part, is well on the way to achieving the powerful part, and definitely working on world domination. This individual is beyond sick.

        • Ragnar Lothbrok

No wonder the evangelicals love him !

        • perversatile

          yeah-but the rich ain’t his.

          • Herald

Some earn it, some get it by devious and grifting means, some inherent it, and some marry it. Well, the Repub field has at least three of those covered.

    • He looks like he smells of Brut deodorant and dribbles of sour milk on his shirt from his morning Cream of Wheat.

      • Octavio

        High Karate.

        • Traxley Launderette

          Jade East.

          • Octavio

            I can smell it already!

    • Damn, he has always been a 100% grade A ass.

      • GanymedeRenard

        A+

      • Todd Allis

At least back then he was more forthcoming about being an ass. His sleazy smile wasn’t so fake.

        • You dont think his sleazy smile wasn’t as fake then? I found it more disturbing in someone that young.

          • Todd Allis

I think it’s terrifying, but perhaps a bit more honest. It’s like now he’s trying (and failing) to look less sleazy.

    • seant426

He’s disgustingly vile. Yeah, I know that’s redundant but it sticks like his “aspirations.”

    • GanymedeRenard

My goodness, this douche’s equally douchy father has a hideous dentition that matches his fetid ideology! Not that my teeth are perfect, but my gawd, his just make me wanna puke!

      Damaged goods since day one.

Strange. i think Martin Shkreli has the exact same footage of himself.

Low tide here in Honolulu in an hour. About 75 degrees outside. Just heading out for my morning swim out past the reef to the windsock but do wish I were in Manhattan yesterday and today. Tomorrow and the rest of the week’s melty mush, not so much.

  • marqanderson

Casey Neistat is a national treasure.

    • TuuxKabin

He looks like one of the KipperKids.

  • Rebecca Gardner

When we were kids we called that “skitching.” It was fun until the unsuspecting driver found out he had a bunch of kids holding onto his rear bumper or he got to a really well paved road and our shoes hit asphalt.

Some days I wonder how it is I’m still alive.

    • LOL The general rule we had growing up in Western PA was be home before the street lights come on and don’t fall in a coal mine.

    • Henri205

Yeah, we used to grab on to the back bumpers of cars and slide along. This was in the 70s when those huge protruding bumpers made it easy. And agreed, it’s a wonder many of us are still alive.

    • DaddyRay

Kids would skitch off the back of the school bus – the driver always had to pretend that he didn’t know but everyone knew he was cool with it.

      • hudson11

we called it bumper shining. too much fun and yes, as someone else pointed out, its a wonder we’re still alive

    • Octavio

      I know. Right?

      • DaddyRay

I am so glad I grew up in the era before car seats – I can’t imagine being a kid today strapped in like that

        • Octavio

I miss not being able to scramble back and forth over the back of the front seat. I have one of the last real full-size cars built (2012 Town Car) and it’s not possible to do it. Yet, crawl into a 56 Chevy Bel Air and there’s no problem. 🙁

          • Paige Turner

I love me some Town Car.
            The ride!
The effortless feeling of not being connected to the road.
And a column shift with big lounge chairs and a centre arm rest. Ive always loved that kind of drive.

          • Octavio

Me too. I’ve been spooking around used car lots, checking out want ads, and El Internto for my next acquisition — a 1978 Lincoln Coupe, preferably in metallic forest green and with a sun roof of course. I keep finding black ones. No green ones yet. Their book value is currently $6,500. And they are the second biggest assembly line car ever produced (the biggest were 1957-1960 Continentals). They give true meaning to the term “dino glide.” 🙂 https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/585b99e60b84833f4f59bcc40ec32973c48988162d4509c2d87ad2676f277498.jpg
Like this. But in dark forest green and dark green easter bunny pile velour interior. A plush luxo boat. They are out there. I just have to be patient. Shhhhh. . . I think I hear one coming!

          • Paige Turner

Funny you should mention that. My dream ride is a 1978 Lincoln Continental Diamond jubilee edition. Blue Vulgarlour upholstery is the bomb. Don’t start me on opera windows.

We can drive LHD cars here in Australia as long as they are 30+ years old. They are, however a gigantic pain in the arse if you expect to park them anywhere and with petrol at the equivalent of USD5 a gallon its a Sunday drive only.

Many where bought here new and converted to RHD but the conversions were dodgy and the local Ford dealers didn’t support them. We still make a large dinosaur car with a V8 engine, RWD and a long wheelbase. The Holden Caprice. They are sold stateside as police cars. Yes, some of your cops drive Aussie cars

At $6,500 just do it. They are already a classic.

        • Rebecca Gardner

Back when the idea of putting a man on the moon was still a dream my dad built a platform in the back of our ’64 Impala so I could roll around and have fun, and not be so confined during our trip from NY to FL. Today my parents would probably be arrested for that.

In 8th grade earth science we had to make volcanoes for a project. Everyone in the class did the same boring dyed baking soda thing. I showed up with a 3 foot tall, clay model of a volcano where inside was a coffee can filled with 99% pure magnesium and Potassium Dichromate. I then proceeded to light the fuse I made by filling the magnesium in between about a foot of masking tape. It went off and flames where everywhere, the clay melted like lava and the school filled with smoke. When the Fire Dept cleared the building we all went back to class and I got an A++. Today I’d probably be suspended and be put in juvenile detention for five years.

I too am glad I grew up before being a kid became illegal.

          • DaddyRay

You sounded like a fun kid to be friends with.

          • Rebecca Gardner

I’m almost 50, but going on 12. People call me a Cat because I keep using up lives.

I was the kid with the very very very strict father which meant I had to see what it was I could get away with. I’m an adrenaline junkie. Adrenaline is my drug and I especially love pushing anything with an engine to it’s limits. I used to own an Extra 300 and I love performing IAC sanctioned aerobatic competitions. For my 50th Birthday I would love to do the Isle of Man TT on a Ducati 1299 Panigale S. I’m an atheist. I feel like the luckiest collection of chemicals in the universe that I get to be a human being for a little while. I don’t want to fuck this up and die with regrets. I want to die with my hair on fire, sliding feet first into the grave screaming “What a Fucking Ride!!!” Even better, to have the cause of death be sexual misadventure.

By the way, this is the TT…

            Damn kids! (And well done.)

          • Traxley Launderette

This is one damn fine inspirational comment, right here.

          • Octavio

Today you would be arrested and jailed by homeland security.

          • TuuxKabin

Reading that I was waiting for the sacrificial virgins to be thrown into the crater of the erupting volcano. What a cool project for you and damn creative of you to come up with all that.

        • Nychta

When I was little, we kids didn’t sit in the car, we stood on the floor in the back, held onto the back of the front seat (which, in my uncle’s ’49 Plymouth, definitely did not have headrests), and looked out the windshield. Hills were fun -felt almost like rollercoasters.

If we got stuck in traffic, everyone in the car would sing to pass the time.

  • Jimmie Z

Can’t complain. 70•F in Houston and sunny

  • DonnaLee

I love how the cops reacted to them. It’s great to see people enjoying the snow and not just bitching about it.

  • skeptical_inquirer

Sounds like fun. I can’t help but notice that it seems like it’s mostly guys who do this type of thing. It’s a bit like how Russian dudes are the ones who climb buildings & big statues & poles in vids and not Russian women.
