Erick Erickson: Today’s Mass Murder Is Obama’s Fault

Yesterday Erick Erickson declared that Planned Parenthood should just be thankful that more Christians aren’t murdering them. He may have topped his record of assholery with this tweet. Maybe. After all, it’s a very long record.

  • pickypecker
  • Gustav2

Quick! Blame Obama before it comes out who this domestic terrorist is and his politics/religion.

    • clay

Yeah, who would be shooting people who have disabilities and the people who care for them?

  • agcons

Well, Erick Erickson, you’re not just an overfilled colostomy bag, then. You’re two overfilled colostomy bags.

  • zhera

    No, really. WHAT?

    • I had to back up to 2008 to find this. Obama was referring to countering GOP attacks – if they brought a knife to the fight, his campaign needed to bring a gun.

Erickkk, honey, it’s time to let it go. Come on, now. The Price is Right is almost over and you need to take your pills. You don’t want to lose jell-o privileges again, do you?

      • Gustav2

Erickkk is still wounded from that fight.

      • Joe in PA

thanks for the reminder, I vaguely remembered something like that, thanks for the update.

  • Michael Rush

People seem to have found a way to produce an income
by saying outrageously stupid shit , even stranger it
always seems to find an audience .

    • Joseph Miceli

Well, there are a LOT of terrible people out there. Thank the Holiday Infant for the good ones in here!

  • Rebecca Gardner
    • zhera

At least he’s not ‘praying for the victims’?

      Hardly a blessing, I know.

    • DaddyRay

Simple and to the point – thank you RG

    • Rambie

      You’re too kind to him

      • safari2bongaloo

      • DisT

Where’s the Forthood Shooter? Or Maybe these are just the more recent ones?

        • Rambie

Not enough room for all the mass shooters. There has been more of them in the USA this year than there have been days.

      • Physick

No Vester Lee Flanagan? Oh, that’s right, he was black. And gay.

    • 2patricius2

      An excellent tweet, Becca.

  • Wynter Marie Starr

For my super power, I’d like to be able to visually label assholes. This guy has a nice broad forehead and fat cheeks. Just perfect for labeling him a triple asshole.

    • Gustav2

For my super power I would superimpose instant fact checking on these idiots’ tweets, blogs, and appearances on cable.

      • rabbit_ears

That would be lovely! Think of MS Word underlining misspellings and bad grammar with colourful squiggly lines. Everything he says would produce rainbows!

      • Wynter Marie Starr

        Also an excellent super power!

    • Joseph Miceli

For my super power I’d like to grant every conservative in the world the capacity to feel shame.
That would automatically make them into libs.

      • Doug105

God will forgive them, so no more shame.

        • Joseph Miceli

Well, MY imaginary sky fairy said it was o.k. to take pictures in the Mr. Olympia locker room, so there!

          • Doug105

I always found the sneaky pic’s to be crappy, find a good exobitionist on the other hand….

          • Joseph Miceli

      • Wynter Marie Starr

That’s a good one, Joseph. The only problem I can see with it is that the shame gene seems to have skipped them. Along with the empthy, compassion, and critical thinking genes.

    • bambinoitaliano

For my super power I just wanna transport them put of our planetary system.

      • Wynter Marie Starr

And this is why people here tell me I’m too nice, which I am! But, it’s not my fault, it’s how I was socialized and Im working on it, LOL. Yes, that’s an awesome super power.

  • Alan43

Remember this was the guy who didn’t want Trump on his show because he was saying outrageous things?

  • Jan Wesselius

Blaming Obama for shootings is like blaming the gun. Its the person that pulls the trigger on the gun.

    • zhera

No. At least the gun is directly involved. Obama is not.

  • Rene Salinas

    What does that even mean?

  • JCF

What a despicable excuse for an (alleged) human being. STFU!!!

  • Ninja0980

There is nothing, NOTHING that these assholes won’t pin on him.

  • rabbit_ears

How does this fucker get everyone’s feet in his mouth at once? Granted his yap is huge but still…

    • If my feet ended up in his mouth I’d probably cut them off myself and burn them.

  • Sam_Handwich

as i’ve already repeatedly proven with photographic evidence, Erick’s head is constructed from processed, compressed ham

    • Friday

People really do put way too much stock in undergraduate athletics, let me tell you. 🙂

  • JTC

Wow. I didn’t know those little children killed at Sandy Hook were armed with machetes.

    What a fucking douchebag.

  • Can he not just shut the fuck up?

    • Joseph Miceli

As long as it makes him money…no. It will continue to make him money because the world is filled with terrible people who are more than ready to believe his shit.

  • Joseph Miceli

So let’s hear it from our unbiased, totally fair and balanced media. Let’s hear a report on how some “news” outlets are distorting the narrative and demonstrably lying simply to manipulate people for profit. Why will we never hear them report on the Erick Ericksons of the world and what they do?
Because CNN and the rest of them do it too, they just don’t sound as crazy when they do it.
    God help us all.

  • Duane Dimitrov

Do you think Erickson really believes what he says? I smell a grifter.

    • Gustav2

Like any salesman, eventually you have to believe your pitch to make it work.

      • Duane Dimitrov

        I guess.

I mean, I guess the issue is that conservatism is a hard sell these days.

The “ideology” is a bunch of thrown-together garbage that doesn’t work; I believe Garrison Keillor (shudder) described it as a “badly sutured Frankenstein attempting to walk,” which is true.

The implementation of conservative policies under GW Bush collapsed in complete failure.

The rubes that conservative operatives have been conning into voting against their own interests for a half-century have finally started to wake up.

The cynical careerists who used to feign solidarity with the moronic rubes, while in reality serving the plutocrats that fund conservatism, have been completely replaced by true wingnuts; put another way, the inmates have taken over the asylum.

So, what do you do? If you’re Erickson and his ilk you just demonize everything the Democrats do, and thus is the core of 2015 conservatism: “If the Democrats are for it, we’re against it!”

        Now that’s a platform!

        • Gustav2

What most pundits don’t get about the Trump phenomena is how the Republican establishment has told middle and working class Americans if they just get rid of the unions things will get better, right to work laws will make things better, more guns will make things better, monies to private schools will make things better, etc.

Now things are worse, but they can’t go back on the political ideas and party they have supported since the 1980’s. THAT would be embarrassing. For now Trump is the answer.

          • Duane Dimitrov

Yeah. Digby has been talking about this at her blog and on Salon.

The GOP has told their base for ages that they’re just one more tax cut away from true prosperity. Or that if they just restrict abortion access further, or fuck over LGBT people a little more that there will be some golden age for lower middle class America.

Now, after decades of this bullshit, after being continually riled up about the Estate Tax, which doesn’t affect them, and the Capital Gains Tax, which also doesn’t affect them, and a whole bunch of other shit…they look around and see what?

Well they see the lack of unions leading their children to working at Walmart for $8/hr. with no hope of anything more. They see social services basically extinct. They see business fucking them over left and right (did you know the average lower-class American pays something like $40/mo. just in banking or check cashing fees? Jesus.).

And what does the GOP have to say about this as the base they’ve conned for a half century finally starts waking up?

Oh, that’s right, more tax cuts! The GOP operators simply cannot believe their con game is coming to an end.

That is the real reason for Trump. The base knows they’ve been played. They know the game is hopelessly rigged. They know Jeb! represents the same-old-con-job. They know someone like Trump would, to them, not play the same old game…he’d blow the whole place up.

I think there’s an under-estimation of the desire of lower class Americans (not using that term pejoratively here!) to simply burn the entire place to the ground. And these people see Trump as a toupee-ed horseman holding a can of gasoline….

            And maybe they’re right.

          • CottonBlimp

I think they do want to go back on the Republican party, because they HATE the party establishment at the moment. Sadly, they won’t reconsider all the lies they’ve been fed about liberals, so they’re putting their money on a Republican “outsider” like Trump (and Carson).

      • RoFaWh

Erickson is, in his own horrible way, a marketer pushing a point of view. And as a marketer, he’s simply a professional liar.

  • bkmn

I never would have guessed that nobody wants to pay this guy to write for them.

  • Duane Dimitrov

Is Erickson pre-diabetic, or just likely eating terribly given that puffy-ass face of his?

And, yes, I am aware that being pre-diabetic is often diet-related.

    • Joseph Miceli

I’d say that his physical appearance and condition is God’s punishment for sin.

      • Duane Dimitrov

        Yes, or god’s reward.

I mean, we gays are dirty, evil buggerers, and our physical appearance shows just that!

        • Joseph Miceli

          Sodomy makes my skin glow!

      • Giant Monster Gamera

Why can’t God punish him with a heart attack instead?

        • Jmdintpa

to quick. id like to see a stroke followed by a loooong hospital stay where his family loses everything , i mean everything because there insurance is cut off.

        • RoFaWh

Because, most regettably, there is no gawd.

He could very well have a heart attack anyway, but it would be his own fault.

        • Joseph Miceli

If there actually were a just God, and not the evil monster of Christianity then maybe he would. (Of course there are no evil sky fairies in reality, but as long as we are playing “Let’s Pretend” I also want a pony!)

    • RoFaWh

I’d say that if he’s not already diabetic. he will be, and sooner that you (or he) might think.

When he goes diabetic, it will be hell for him because one of the things diabetics absolutely must do is watch like a hawk what they eat and not eat the stuff that’s full of carbs and/or fat. As a rightwinger, Erickson almost certainly lacks the necessary self control and discipline for this.

      • Duane Dimitrov

Modifying his diet would be a violation of all he holds dear as an American because something something freedom and liberty blah blah blah….

  • j.martindale
    • Joseph Miceli

It there an outfit that they get when they spin around, complete with bikini and tiara?

    • Acronym Jim

That probably isn’t the best image for a story, that at its base, ultimately originates at a center for the developmentally disabled.

      • j.martindale

        Hadn’t thought of that. Apologies.

        • Acronym Jim

It’s cool, I got what you were trying to say and I agree Erik Erickson is a wonder of an idiot.

          • Maggie 4NoH8

I was about to go through the thread again thinking I missed something… Like maybe Sarah Palin had posted a comment?

    • Duane Dimitrov

Why is it cool to make fun of developmentally disabled people?

      Not acceptable people!

  • DaddyRay

These assholes don’t even wait or pretend to be senstiive to the families that lost loved ones – heck the scene isn’t even secured.

    • Marc

Breitbart is *much* more concerned with the color of the shooters than the safety of those still on the scene.

      • DaddyRay

        This is my shocked face

        • Marc

I need to stop reading their drivel. I’m starting to make that face permanently.

Although I can say that Breitbart people look absolutely PC in comparison to the ilk on WeaselZippers. There really is a lower rung of the ladder.

          • DaddyRay

Note to self: Don’t ever go to WeaselZippers

          • Joe in PA

Oh my…where is my mind? When read Weasel Zippers…I thought of something TOTALLY different. I like mine better.

          • DaddyRay

I like your mind, come sit by me

          • Helen Damnation

But but but, Breitbart only uses the best and most accurate, honest “news sources”. Take a look at a screenshot of who their ‘partners’ are:

          • Marc

So diverse, and fair and balanced!

  • Sam_Handwich

police chief statement in 5 mins

    • Obama just appeared in a taped interview regarding this. I imagine The Bills’ heads exploded.

  • Jamie_Johnson

At the next debate — Democratic or Republican — I would like the moderator to ask: “Answer with a number: How many people have to die in a mass shooting before we do something about it?”

    • Sam_Handwich

sandy hook proved that even massacred little kids can’t prompt action

      it’s really disgusting

      • Jamie_Johnson

Indeed; but I really want the politicians to put a number to it. 10? 100? 1,000? Infinity?

        • David Walker

Sorry to be the cynic, but I doubt it will ever happen. I said that about marriage equality, too, but that didn’t have to go through congress. The problem is, I doubt anything would be done if the majority in both houses were Democrats. The Democrats won’t deal with it and the republicans can’t afford TO deal with it…what with bribes and the number guns their constituents possess.

    • WiscoJoe

Wait, are these people dying in the United States or in Benghazi? That makes a big difference to Republicans.

      • BlueberriesForMe

And are they good, persecuted, white, Christianists? Have to draw the line somewhere. The Lard does not look equally favorable on certain groups of people.

    • LovesIrony

I have called both my senators’ offices and my representative’s office and asked them this very question… How many more must die before he or she does anything?

    • Robert C

But that’s a “gotcha” question! We can’t ask THOSE kinds of questions, especially of the Republicans. Otherwise, we’re liable to hurt their wittle bitty feewings!

  • WiscoJoe

Remember, Fox News actually pays this guy for his analysis and opinion.

Less than a year ago, the Atlantic Magazine published a puff-piece trying to rehabilitate Erickson’s public image.

This is part of the problem. The media is complicit in enabling this craziness.

  • Joseph Miceli

Well, it is business as usual. People are dying, all of us with empathy and a conscience are filled with outrage, the politicians are judging how this will effect their re-elections, the sociopaths at the NRA are scheming how to excuse all the death they’ve directly caused and all the conservafucks are busy trying to figure out how to capitalize on the deaths of innocent people.
I’m done. I just downloaded some skimpy male armor for all the males in Skyrim. I think I’ll go play video games, enjoy the muscled, hairy eye-candy, and forget for awhile there are some problems I can’t solve with a well placed spear of ice shooting out of my hand.

  • Sam_Handwich

“We have pattern now of mass shootings that has no parallel in the rest of the world”

    • JINX

    • Helen Damnation

Gurl, please. If you gonna quote someone, you can’t be paraphrasing and shit…

  • Rick

But what does Ann Coulter think of what Erick Ericsson thinks? How am I supposed to know where to direct my outrage?

  • Rick

I wonder how much Erick’s second chin resents his first chin for always getting out in front and catching all the limelight?

  • Nicholas Rostov

He’s in edjamacation to be a Baptist minister. See The Atlantic’s astonishing whitewash job from Feb

  • Mawm

Every time I see a picture of him he looks like he is about to pop.

  • dcurlee

I hope the families of the victims see the idiocy of their statements.

    • DaddyRay

Not that I would wish it upon anyone but one day these douche bags will find out they are related to one of the victims after making an ass of themselves on social media

      • Or one of them will be shot.

      • RoFaWh

They’ll think up some hollow excuse for dissing a relative.

  • Sam_Handwich

Wayne LaPierre’s lip boogers are unavailable for comment.

  • tcinsf
  • Happy Dance

Erick Erickson, if your mouth stopped working today, that’d be great! I am not going to say what I really feel out of respect for Joe’s requests…but trust me, I have plenty to say about your stupid ass!!

  • JW Swift

Umm, since the answer always seems to be, when we point our fingers at the NRA, is that it’s “too soon” to be pointing fingers, then it is also permanently “too soon” to be trying to blame Obama for this, too.

  • DaddyRay

Wow 14 dead – this is just horrible

    • pickypecker

confirmed. 14 others critically injured and hospitalized.

    • Gustav2

I have heard reports today this Thanksgiving weekend was the best ever for gun sales.

      • pickypecker

‘Cuz nothin’ says murry chrissmas like a semi-automatic, baybee!

      • RoFaWh

Perhaps a stiff Federal excise tax on firearms and ammunition might help. Like 150% of the sale price and another 100% each anniversary of the purchase.

  • Scott

Is it just me that thinks this nutcase looks like Cameron from Modern Family?! Seems to be about as much of a drama queen as Cameron anyway!!!

  • anne marie in philly

    STFU, you ugly mofo!

  • bluefranco

Doughy pants shyter says something hideous is nothing new. He is a sick sick troll

  • JT

How much inbreeding was needed to produce something as malformed as Erick Erickson’s brain?

  • Nic Peterson

Sadly, the triglyceride, hypertension and diabetes fairies keep missing Herr Erickson.

    Keep trying, girls.

  • bambinoitaliano

I thank him for helping his brotherhood of ISIS slaughtering Americans. Who needs enemy when you live among traitor like that.

  • JerryRich

We don’t have a lot of detail yet, but the first people attackers will target are usually armed security.

  • geoffalnutt

We’ve seen more than _____ incidents of mass shooting in the US since the first of the year and over ____ have been killed. It is past time for us to do something about this.

Airforce Base With Nuclear Weapons On Lockdown After Reports Of An Active Shooter On Base…
unfucking believable if true. from mass shootings every four days to twice a day?

    • TuuxKabin

      now this: Angela Brauer @AngelaBrauer

As of 5:28pm AFB gives “all clear.” Announcements say situation “has concluded.”

  • Jmdintpa

is it a bad thing that i have feelings of pure unadulterated hatred for this fuck. is it wrong that my emotions that flare up are that of violence i would like to see perpetrated on this fuckwad. if he were shot execution style tonight by a shooter i would be happy and somehow i dont think thats right of me but i cant help it.

    • TuuxKabin

An ‘un-natural’ reaction to an ‘un-natural’ situation is a natural reaction.

        I read that as:

        • TuuxKabin

had to look again at what I posted, ha!

    • RoFaWh

It’s wrong and it’s bad, but the reason isn’t that we aren’t supposed to wish Bad Things on the haters. The reason is that the emotions and feelings you feel are bad for you.

  • Ronald Ibach

The right wing religious nutjobs will tell every vile lie that justifies the results of their twisted beliefs.

  • Friday

Gods, man, I turn off the news for *six hours* and someone’s already lying about more of this kind of violence.

  • Adam Schmidt

4 dead in the Benghazi attack and we’ve had 21 Congressional hearings on it.

Over 400,000 dead due to guns in the U.S. since 2001 and we can’t get one piece of sensible gun legislation passed.

I’m tired of the stupidity… repeal the 2nd Amendment.

  • Steven B

When did President Obama ever say or suggest in any way shape or form that people should take guns to knife fights? Where would he get such an idea? And I don’t think he’s just lying and making shit up. I think there is something out there that Obama said that he translated from normal English to Teabacistanish. But what was it?

Go back to seminary, son of Erick. You missed some important stuff.

  • NancyP

He’s following the show-biz saying that any publicity is good publicity.

  • Erickson is a pus-filled cyst on the anus of humanity.

Mass-shootings weren’t so common until the radical right wing began yawping about insurrection and watering the tree of ‘liberty’ with blood.

  • William

This useless fuck should go do a belly flop in a volcano.

  • SoCalVet

  • Erick Erickson is the newest suicide bomber member of the American Christian ISIS. Ignore or fast-forward through his scenes on Modern Family. That is if you can stomach watching the show now knowing they employ a soldier of the American Christian ISIS. Here’s hoping the writers cut him out of the show with a divorce for Mitchell.

  • I wonder what philia we’ll find if we search his computer. My guess, kiddy touching to kids bop soundtracks. He just seems the type to listen to that audio torture for the ‘music’.
