ARKANSAS: Man Applies To Place “Gay Pride Festivus Pole” On Grounds Of State Capitol Building [VIDEO]

Arkansas Matters reports:

A Florida man applied on Monday afternoon to place a “Gay Pride Festivus Pole” at the state Capitol grounds in Little Rock. Executive Director for the Humanity Fund Chaz Stevens said he sent in an Arkansas Secretary of State Temporary Display application around 1 p.m. on Monday. Stevens said that he erected his first Festivus pole in December 2013 at the Florida Capitol. His pole is inspired by the Festivus holiday created by popular television program “Seinfeld.”

The director of the Humanity Fund said he feels states have to allow all religious displays on government property or none. He said placing Christian displays at capitol buildings “opened the door” for his Festivus pole. After succeeding in getting permission to place his Festivus pole at the Florida Capitol, his story went viral, appearing on television programs like “The Colbert Report,” “The Daily Show,” and media outlets like Fox News. After the Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage, Stevens said he decided to change the design of the Festivus pole to include rainbow colors.

As you’ll see in the clip below, Stevens also wants to place gay poles all over the country. Perhaps obviously, the Humanity Fund is a play on George Costanza’s Human Fund.
