Jetliner Bursts Into Flames On Fort Lauderdale Runway

A Caracas, Venezuela-bound charter plane from North Carolina-based Dynamic Airways burst into flames on the Fort Lauderdale runway this afternoon.

Photos and video from the scene show the plane engulfed in thick black flames before firefighters came and extinguished the fire with a white foam. As of 1pm ET, the fire has been put out and everyone was safely off the plane – though it’s uncertain if any of the passengers were seriously injured. The Boeing 767 carries between 180 to 290 passengers, but its unclear how many were actually on the plane at the time. It’s currently unknown if the plane was taking off or landing when it caught fire. But the charring on the aircraft suggests the fire started in the left engine.
