Barronelle Stutzman: I Didn’t Break The Law [VIDEO]

In a cutesy clip posted today by the Heritage Foundation, anti-gay Washington state florist Barronelle Stutzman flatly declares that she did not break the law when she refused to serve a gay couple. State courts, of course, have disagreed and earlier this year Stutzman was fined a paltry $1000. Stutzman has received at least $174,000 in crowd-funding.

    The religious mind is fascinating!

    • Mark

Yes! It is truly an exploration into “what went wrong?”.

      • Mark

        Or, where is it?

  • geoffalnutt

I’m sorry, but I truly believe she is wearing comfortable shoes…on some level. Maybe it’s the helmet.

  • Mark

Couldn’t bring myself to watch it cuz I know she’s fucking nuts – and it’s way too early for my shields to be up…..

    • Herald

Agree, the summary is enough for me to handle. .

  • The Milkman

    The mug on her. Damn..

    • Todd20036

Wait, is that “Damn, what an ugly old bitty”
      or:
“Damn, I want to feel her experienced love tunnel around my dick!”?

      • Mark

Not when I’m having my morning coffee….. :-/

        • TampaDink

The mental picture that Todd drew is reason for my morning vodka.

      • The Milkman

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA! OMG. Yeah, that would be “Damn, her face looks like it caught fire and somebody put it out with a rake.”

  • KnownDonorDad

She’s jealous of all the attention Kim Davis is getting.

    • Michael Rush

One more question : if your $ 1000 fine nearly bankrupt you how did you manage to fly to DC to attend the 2015 Values Voter Summit with a bunch of the most hateful anti-gay people in America ?

      • olandp

I was thinking the same thing. Working all those years and you have less than $1000 to show for it?

      • D. J.

I would like a net gain of $173,000.00 and still cry poverty and financial ruin. Anyone else interested in that level of financial ruin?

        • Bj Lincoln

Me! Me! Me! I’ll gladly take that kind of money.

          • Michael Rush

One more question : Why is it that everything you say contradicts everything you do ?

( Did you break the law – Cottonelle : No )

          • RaygunsGoZap

            You couldn’t see the *

            * God’s Law

          • D. J.

Maybe her “financial ruin” is meeting the criteria for the alternative minimum tax rate?

      • vorpal

I’m guessing she was almost certainly flown there, since until Kim Davis, she was the belle of the anti-gay ball.

        • Michael Rush

this human centipede goes – Barronelle Stutzman – Kim Davis – Aaron Klein – Melissa Klein .

Missing – Memories pizza Crystal O’Connor , but living in Walkerton Indiana is punishment enough .

    • StraightGrandmother

It’s kinda funny and interesting to se which anti gay org is repping who.
Kim Davis is owned by Liberty Council
Josh Duggar was owned by FRC
I think this Florist & Sweet Cakes by Melissa Aaron & Melissa Klein, are in Heritages Stable.
Robert Oscar Lopez, nobody wants him, but that Katy Faust (Ask the Bigot) is definitely in Ryan Anderson’s stable at Heritage.

    • Smithbc

      Exactly!
“I discriminated first and now she’s getting all the attention! No fair!”

  • Webslinger

I think Ms. King said it best…

    • Bj Lincoln

      I miss her.

  • Todd20036

How much you want to be that most of the GOTP candidates (Trump is a notable exception here) would like to pass “religious freedom” laws that basically boil down to Christian superiority and gay inferiority?

    • Ed Burrow

      you’re really asking this? /s

      • Todd20036

Actually, the only truly surprising thing is that in this case, Trump is the sane one.

  • bambinoitaliano

Just another money grabbing attention whore. The downside of capitalism where everyone keep extending their 15 minutes of fame.

  • Alexander M R Volk

If this is a spin campaign to humanize her and make her seem more relatable then they have failed. She comes of capricious, dim-witted and oblivious.

    • RoFaWh

Remember, she’s just a florist. Hardly an important cog in the socio-economic machinery. Just a little bottom feeder.

      • GeoffreyPS

She is a horrible person for her behavior not her occupation. You may have a better skill set and job than a florist, but that makes you more fortunate, not better than they are.

  • Johnny Wyeknot

    She looks like Newt Gingrich

    • Reality.Bites

Have they ever been seen together?

  • bryan

The ‘cutesy’ is so fake and rehearsed : Heritage directing her every move and feeding her the lines. Like watching a hostage video.

    • Brian in Valdosta

I’ll take your word for it. I couldn’t bring myself to watch and listen. Ugh.

    • Perfect description – hostage video. Yep, time to prop up one of their dim-witted “back-up martyrs” from stock to pull the attention away from the failed Kim ‘n pope show. And Ms Stutzman can’t stretch out that paltry $174K of free cash for much longer. Faith ain’t free.

  • j.martindale
    • Mark

Uncle Fester!!! But at least he was lovable and not mean spirited….

      • TampaDink

He brought new meaning to getting nailed in bed.

    • Todd20036

Don’t diss Fester. He is way sexier, and far more tolerant than this hater.

  • teeveedub

If she was willing to be brainwashed into her crackpot version of Xtianity, it was probably pretty easy for the Heritage Foundation to brainwash her into believing that she didn’t break the law.

  • Sam_Handwich

i guess they needed to rotate martyrs in the wake of the Davis/Rope a Pope debacle

  • Michael Rush

2015 Values Voter Summit was nothing but a who’s who of homophobic a-hulls
and Barronelle Stutzman was right in there with them .

  • AtticusP

    Ernest Borgnine lives!!!

  • JVB

just for the piece of human trash.

  • Gigi

Refusing to admit that you didn’t do anything wrong doesn’t mean you didn’t break the law.

    • D. J.

She didn’t break the law….she broke an ordinance…..Don’t we feel so much better about that?

      • SammySeattle

RCW 49.60. This is the chapter of law of the Revised Code of Washington that Ms. Stutzman violated. Ordinances, in the State of Washington, are created at the county and municipal level. Neither Richland, WA, nor Benton County, Washington have ordinances which protect their citizens based upon sexual orientation

        • D. J.

So, she broke state Law? So, Cottonelle lied.

      • Gigi

        Is there a difference? 😉

  • Chris Baker

I don’t know why people have to resort to insulting her looks. I don’t think she’s ugly or unattractive. It’s that old mean girls attitude: looks are everything, ugly is bad, pretty is good. There are plenty of ugly gays who are wonderful people, and there are plenty of attractive people who are horrible people.

That being said, I wonder if she would have provided flowers for Rob’s “commitment” ceremony, if marriage were not an option. It’s really just words. If she would have provided flowers for a commitment ceremony, isn’t that the same thing as a wedding? Sure, there are some legal technicalities involved, but at the heart, they are the same thing. Two people committing their lives together.I guess cause I am not all sappy about “marriage” or “wedding”. I don’t think there’s anything magical about the ceremony or term.

    • The Milkman

You’re right that there are plenty of ugly people who have good hearts. This is not one of them. People insult her looks because they mirror the ugliness in her heart. We all get the faces we deserve eventually, barring any physically traumatic injury. I don’t see any problem pointing it out in her case. If she doesn’t like it, she can just use those hundreds of thousands of hate dollars to hire a good cosmetic surgeon.
There isn’t anything magical about the terms “marriage” or “wedding”, other than the fact that separate is never equal in this country. We tried your suggested approach in a couple states for a while, and it resulted in tons of people being denied equal treatment under the civil law. If the bigots don’t like it, let THEM change the name of the civil contract they sign before their church ceremony.

      • Chris Baker

Sorry, I wasn’t saying Civil Unions/DPs are the same as marriage, because “marriage” provides lots of legal benefits from using that legal term–and that’s what we needed to have for all those benefits (as well as the cultural benefits that the term “marriage” provides.). I am just saying (legal definitions aside) that a commitment ceremony is exactly the same thing as a marriage ceremony. So if she would (theoretically) provide flowers for a same-sex commitment ceremony, why wouldn’t she do the same for a same-sex marriage ceremony?

      • Christopher Smith

An excellent explanation of how ugly is as ugly does.

    • JaniceInToronto

But she IS a pig. Take that how you want.

    • Christopher Smith

Actually, she’s hideous, but most of that (aside from the terrible dye job and the kewpie makeup, lol) is the ugliness of her non-soul showing through.

  • MDB

Then return the 174, 000 dollars !!! Sorry, but your ignorant ridiculous sanctimony is dripping off the pages, again. Give the money to feed the homeless, since you broke no laws and thus do not need the charity of mindless charlatans.

    What a pathetic attention-whore.

    • D. J.

The Chrisianists are digging Cottonelle back up since St. Quimmie of KY self-righteous, sanctimonious, adulterous multiple marriages and part time Pope stalker didn’t work out so well for them.

      • noni

I wonder if anyone has dug up anything on Cottonelle yet?

        • D. J.

Cottonelle does have 8 children. I wonder if any of Octogranny’s kids or grandkids are gay? If so, did she do THEIR floral arrangements? The Heritage Foundation didn’t have a cue card about that….I wonder why?

        • D. J.

8 kids and 22 grandkids… I wonder if there is a gay one or two? Did she floralize their wedding?

  • David in Palm Springs

“I don’t do background checks on my customers.”

Really? So the ONLY criteria that you have for providing wedding services is that there is one penis and one vagina. That’s it. That’s a pretty low threshold for someone that has “deeply held religious beliefs”. So basically anything goes: adultery, divorce, sex and/or children out of wedlock, ménage à trois, gerbils, leather and chains, ball gags, you name it… it’s all good according to Mr. Stutzman.

    • MDB

I’m curious…. does she do arrangements for man / toasters or woman/weed whacker ceremonies ??? Those would easily pass her non- background check system just as long as there were not two penii involved !!!

    • The Milkman

      “Mr. Stutzman.” Heh.

    • RoFaWh

I doubt she ever verified her customers’ anatomy. Just took it on faith that one was male and the other female, based on clothing and grooming. Where are the really skillful drag queens when we need one?

    • SammySeattle

She only denies service based upon appearance.

    • JoeNCA

She’s making a similar argue to one BBQ owner in the south (I think it was South Carolina) who wouldn’t refuse service to blacks, just wouldn’t let them eat in the restaurant, just they had to get it to go.

No, if you refuse a service you sell to others, it’s still discrimination.

  • Josh Shapiro

I think someone’s a teeny bit envious of all the attention Kim Davis is getting

  • D. J.

The citizens of the USA would benefit from a thorough investigation of the Heritage Foundation.

    • RoFaWh

And of Liberty Counsel, Liberty University, Oral Roberts University, Joel Osteen and the many other prosperity gospel grifters, the AFA, NOM, and all the other organizations of that type.

  • DaveMiller135

“My religion is my faith in Jesus Christ.”

Meaning: I hadn’t been to church, or thought about it, in a couple of decades, before all this mess.

    • Silver_Witch

      Exactly!

    • Bj Lincoln

That’s what I thought. How deep is are your convictions if you do bother to go to church?

  • D. J.

She didn’t break the law?? Oh, she broke an ordinance. That makes her so much more relatable now doesn’t it?
    She’s still a liar for Jeebus….and $172,999.00.

    • SammySeattle

RCW 49.60. This is the chapter of law of the Revised Code of Washington that Ms. Stutzman violated. Ordinances, in the State of Washington, are created at the county and municipal level. Neither Richland, WA, nor Benton County, Washington have ordinances which protect their citizens based upon sexual orientation. (Sorry, couldn’t find the comment that someone posted stating that she only violated an ordinance.)

      • D. J.

        Thank you.

  • Sean

Yes you did Jim Crow lover.

  • medaka

WRONG! You broke the fucking law AND made a shitload of money.

  • David Walker

Didn’t watch. However, the picture of her putting her finger into her cheek is maybe the smarmiest I’ve seen of her yet. Carol Burnett used to do that, but Carol did it to make fun of people who thought they were cute. Burnett did it better.

Question: Did any of the news sources covering the VVS offer an estimate on attendance. I haven’t seen anything here, whether from FRC or a real news organization, and am wondering if attendance was embarrassingly low.

    • Chuck in NYC

The finger in the cheek was also one of Jo Anne Worley’s signature moves on Laugh-in. And this lady is old enough to know that. And, possibly, to have had a crush on dear Jo Anne.

  • D. J.

ADF represented Cottonelle in her multiple lawsuits. She’s much pickier about weddings than she is about law firms.

    • BobSF_94117

Well, she’s up $173,000, so this is one case where the ADF experience hasn’t been so bad.

  • BoringLawyer

Lying is a sin. Liars go to Hell. That much is clear in the Bible. And yet… Jesus never said a word about gay people. Hmmm. Reading comprehension fail, lady.

  • MBear

made it 1:13 in when the Q “Do you have a problem with gay people” and she just puffs & shakes her head “no”.

    Sanctimonious bitch

  • Silver_Witch

Good job at trying to make her seem human. Sadly she is human and a bigot. It is so sad.

    • TampaDink

Making someone seem human. Dr. Frankenstein did it better.

  • billbear1961

    You BROKE the LAW!

What would you do if businesses, recognizing you, told you to GET OUT because they don’t serve bigots who turn people away from their shops?

  • noni

“I don’t do background checks on my customers”

    says the bigot.

  • noni

    Waiting for the Parody version.

    • Mickey Bitsko

      WUT, this isn’t a parody?

  • Ninja0980

Yes you do, and now matter how “nice” you were, you told your two long time customers and “friends” that they were second class citizens not worthy of the product being provided to others.
You are a bigot and you broke the law, period.

  • Lumpy Gaga

    Rip Taylor’s looking good.

    • Reality.Bites

Did you catch him on Last Week Tonight last week? Had no idea he was still active.

And (tying this together to an earlier post) he actually played Uncle Fester in an animated Addams Family series.

  • SFBruce

As offensive as it is to hear someone cloak bigotry in their “sincerely held beliefs,” Stutzman’s claim that Rob Ingersoll had not only been a loyal customer for some 10 years, but he was one of her “favorites,” according to the Washington Post is, for me, even more offensive. In all that time, she was happy to have his business until the most important day of his life, when his money was now ickey. I certainly don’t speak for Ingersoll, but if I were in his shoes, she’s pretty much the last person on earth I’d be interested in hugging.

  • anne marie in philly

you DID break the law, cottonelle; you refused service to a gay couple to whom you had been selling flowers in past years. you are a waste of DNA.

  • American Patriot ™

    Barronelle has man hands.

  • Strepsi

    My favorite is Matthew 7:5

“Thou hypocrite, first cast out the plank out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the speck out of thy brother’s eye.”

  • TexPlant

ain’t nobody got time for that old bigot!

  • Jumper

Gods Below, Matt Staver! PLEASE stop doing drag. It ain’t working, honey!
