One Million Moms Vs Christian Mingle [UPDATED]

One Million Moms is calling on its followers to deluge Christian Mingle with complaints because the hook-ups-for-Jesus site has advertised on TV Land’s deviant Impastor show. They write:

This show not only depicts pastors in a negative light, but the entire program will also be based on lies about Christianity. It revolves around Buddy Dobbs, a gambling, pot-smoking slacker, on the run from a loan shark, who steals a man’s identity and ends up posing as the new gay pastor in a small, tightknit town. “Impastor” is another attempt to distort the truth about Christianity. TV Land has crossed the line by mocking the Christian faith with foul jokes. We need to send a loud and clear message to advertisers that this kind of programming is insulting and completely unacceptable. There is strength in numbers so forward this to everyone you know! TAKE ACTION: Please use the information we have provided to contact ChristianMingle.com (Spark Networks) and ask that they pull their financial support from “Impastor.”

Impastor has gotten mixed reviews and relatively low viewership with only about 500,000 tuning in for this week’s show. Which means that OMM will immediately declare victory should it not be renewed for a second season.

UPDATE: According to OMM, Christian Mingle has already caved.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Christain Mingle remains steadfast in its commitment to the Christian faith and its values. While our current advertising campaign includes TVLand, effective immediately, we have pulled all advertising during Impastor and, for now, on TV Land as we analyze the allocation of our advertising dollars. We thank our members for bringing this to our attention. – John Volturo, Chief Marketing Officer, Spark Networks.

And yes, that’s THEIR typo.
