Erickson Reads Pro-Trump Hate Mail

There’s a longer, more raunchy clip at The Hill.

  • JT

Puking is just your natural state. It’s the result of inhabiting a toxic body.

  • TommyTune

Red state people bashing other red state people for not being conservative enough. There is simply not enough popcorn to go around.

  • olandp

Say what you will, the Donald has the “classiest” supporters.

    • RaygunsGoZap

You are clearly on your period!

  • Hey Erickson, those emails you’re reading? They are from your supporters. Your people. Why distance yourself from them now?

    • JT
    • Antinousian

Not his people anymore. Roger Ailes has bumped him up to a new gig, so now its so, long, rubes!

    • StSean

they should add neil gaiman’s translation of “political correctness”…

I was reading a book (about interjections, oddly enough) yesterday which included the phrase “In these days of political correctness…” talking about no longer making jokes that denigrated people for their culture or for the colour of their skin. And I thought, “That’s not actually anything to do with ‘political correctness’. That’s just treating other people with respect.”

Which made me oddly happy. I started imagining a world in which we replaced the phrase “politically correct” wherever we could with “treating other people with respect”, and it made me smile.

You should try it. It’s peculiarly enlightening.

I know what you’re thinking now. You’re thinking “Oh my god, that’s treating other people with respect gone mad!”

      • j.martindale

My reaction whenever people started using the phrase “Political Correctness,” is that there has never been an over-abundance of sensitivity in this country. If anything is a problem, it is the crassness of the majority, and unwillingness to empathize with people who are different.

    bigots…disturbed by slightly greater bigotry.
Listening to this, I feel dumber, fatter, older, whiter, and more bitter. These people are less than pathetic. they are vile.

    • Gene

correcton…bigots, disturbed by OTHERS seeing their collective greater bigotry.

  • bkmn

Erick does have a long history of supporting losing candidates – tRump was right about that. And Erick always gets real pouty and angry when they lose. Absolutely delish.

    • clay

This will be a close replacement for the Ames Straw Poll which has given us party stalwarts such as Pat Robertson, Pat Buchanan, and Michele Bachmann.

  • AtticusP

    Turn, turn, turn…

    • LovesIrony

and screaming, let me out. I wanna suck dick!

  • Bluto

Congratulations GOP. You’ve moved so far to the right that hardcore extremists like erickson have become the voice of moderation for your party. How’s that big tent thing workin’ out for ya?

    • clay

It’s not the size of the tent, it’s the size, shape and placement of the platform.

      • Bluto

I bet you say that to all the guys.

        • clay

          Whatever are you talking about?

  • ColdCountry

I wonder if Trump supports realize that he will not only be running the country, he will be running them. And he will be treating them just as badly. Do they think he cares any more about them than he does anyone else?

    • David Walker

      Do they even think?

  • Oscarlating Wildely

He’ll rise in the polls more than ever. Hearing racist, sexist, homophobic or any other hate speech out loud only makes them salivate more. “Finally, a man of the people who tells things like it is!” And at the thought that their hatred can ran unfettered– oh yea, they’ll follow him in droves.

    • William

If we could direct them towards a cliff….

  • SLK in SF

I must admit that I am loving the succession of posts with the “infighting is funny” tag.

  • Ninja0980

This vile man is the last person to be lecturing anyone about hateful things being said about women.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

Translation: “Yes, I’m a homophobic, misogynist bastard with delusions of grandeur but hey, at least I’m not Trump”

Yeah, like that makes it all better…..asswipe.

  • JustSayin’

Donald, keep it going for about 100 more days. The announce a third party run in November! That will make the primaries a hoot and a holler and force rethuglican backers to spend all sorts of cash as well as make many stay home come election day!

    • David Walker

Tip to The Donald: Get one of your interns to check the date for filing for each of the states’ primaries.

  • Yalma Cuder-Zicci

What is lost in this “Period Gate” flap, is while these conservatives are writing Trump off now because he “went too far” with his “bleeding from…wherever” comment, they are forgetting the original question asked by Megyn Kelly, about the demeaning comments Trump had already aimed at women. They are forgetting the LAUGHTER from the audience when he said the comments were directed at Rosie O’Donnell. They can claim to be taking the pro-women, pro-decency moral high ground now, but they can’t really claim that ground if they *enjoy* demeaning comments directed at liberal women.

    • Stev84

They are just using any means they have to knock down Trump.

    • RaygunsGoZap

This! I think the question was legitimate and activated a great weakness of his – lack of accountability. The fact that he wasn’t prepared with something to counter…just dumb.

But this Periodgate thing, I think is off the mark. Donald has three attackforms: Bulldog, Zinger and Handwave.

“Bleeding from your/her eyes and what/wherever”

The last bit could mean vagina, but he doesn’t usually say graphic things like that and I thought, in fact, was very squeamish and prudish about that level of crudity.

I interpret is as a Handwave, meaning not just “nose” but “I’m so bored with this I can’t even be bothered”. I would look back at how many times his insults have trailed off into an “and whatever”

EDIT: But, he’s definitely a mysogynistic pig. And an asshole of the highest order.

      • Yalma Cuder-Zicci

I agree with your assessment of the “wherever” comment. After listening to it, I don’t think he meant it the way it was taken. It was more of an offhanded, filler word. But, the GOP has seen an opening with it, and have committed to the menstrual meaning because they want to be done with him.

  • William

Erickson is a sociopathic control freak. If more people knew about him, we would be awash in a sea of vomit.

  • bluefranco

What he read sounds like a comment thread from his Redstate blog….as Trump would say #loser

  • when i was a little girl there were these marble gumball machines. i loved them! put in a quarter, get a marble sized chewing gumball. sometimes they were swirly, sometimes they were all red, or green and blue stripes. the fun part was that they came down the machine on a lighted track, like a roller coaster, and played music. you never knew what kind you were going to get and you got a show before you got yours.

the problem with that gum of course is that flavor didn’t last, and i’d spit it out after just a few hours, at most. i’d beg mom for another quarter, but usually she’d say, that’s enough for today.

i’m starting to think that’s what the republican clown car is like. oooh, shiny! but the republikids will get tired of it soon and ask for another gumball pretty quickly.

    • LonelyLiberal

And just like the gumball machine, there’s always another Republican in the clown car.

    • RaygunsGoZap

      Brilliantly said. Thanks!

    • LovesIrony

long long time ago my brother taught me a trick. We’d put our penny in the gumball machine and turn the nob backwards. Out came lots and lots of stuff. Now one of these plastic insects would be too much for my penny.

  • Blake Jordan

Why is Erickson hating on the bulk of the rethuglican base???

Ps. Erickson is probably just pissed that Trump has not stuck to being vehemently anti-LGBT, and toned-down on racism and sexism, even though Erickson supports those two prejudices as well.

  • Cosmo Tupper

Dignity and respect have NOTHING to do with political correctness…..basic humanity DOES!. Trump is a classless blowhard and doesn’t even really and truly deep down respect himself. His demeanor and boisterous attitude reveal a painful past. Either bullied or more likely, being the bully that everyone eventually tired of and only the gold-digging “friends” stuck around. He is miserable on the inside and money is his only “true” friend. And we surely don’t need a mentally deficient tyrant running this country, much less ANY country.

  • Suzy

Using Erickson to criticize Trump is the worst possible option. All they’ve done is bring to light Erickson’s own comments as well as his deals with Ailes while making Trump look like a true conservative in comparison.

These nincompoops have NO CLUE how to take down Trump – how in the fuck do they think they can beat Hillary?

  • Michael Hampton

You reap what you sow, Erickson. You reap what you sow.

  • LovesIrony

Erickson is a total loser. I hope more of the angry mob goes after him. He’s a torch bearer for hatred, he should get burned by it

  • Claude Jacques Bonhomme
  • Emma Duncan

I’m fairly certain that the folks who complain about “political correctness” are people who miss being able to call black people/the president “n*****”
