Dems Announce 2016 Debates

The Hill reports:

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) set its presidential debate schedule on Thursday, announcing six debates spanning from October to March. The first debate will take place in Nevada on Oct. 13 in partnership with CNN. Following that, the DNC has scheduled debates for November in Iowa, December in New Hampshire, and January in South Carolina. The final two debates will take place in Florida and Wisconsin in either February or March. “We are thrilled to announce the schedule and locations for our Democratic primary debates,” DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said in a statement. “These six debates will not only give caucus goers and primary voters ample opportunity to hear from our candidates about their vision for our country’s future, they will highlight the clear contrast between the values of the Democratic Party which is focused on strengthening the middle class versus Republicans who want to pursue out of touch and out of date policies.”

  • MattM

Because the Republican debates are TOTALLY going to be on a network besides Fox News, right sentient Mr. Potato Head? Fuck off.

    • MDB

Toad Stool still thinks he is somehow relevant ????
      Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah……………

      • B Snow

What does he do for a living, again? He’s a writer, or a reporter, or what, exactly?

        • AtticusP

          I vote for “what”.

        • MDB

He’s a bloviated conservative *cough* commentator *cough* wannabe for Faux Snooze.

        • BudClark

An osculator of unwiped Republican anuses.

    • MarkOH

No kidding. our local Faux news has been saying for weeks that they have the exclusive coverage.

Why do these idiots not even realize how stupid and hypocritical they sound?

      • MattM

If stupid people knew they were stupid they wouldn’t be so stupid.

        • AtticusP

          That’s very Zen… Or something…

        • olandp

          The Dunning-Kruger Effect.

      • Nic Peterson

Because Toad can put a little check in the box next to: Be an irrelevant, whining, hypocritical shitstain. And move on to the next item in his job description.

He’s very good at his job, FWIW.

      • BudClark

“Exclusive” because nobody else WANTED them.

    • PLAINTOM

      Sentient may be a stretch.

  • bkmn

Warning: Do not expect as much entertainment from the Dem debates as we will get from the GOP debates/circlejerks.

    • MattM

Because the Dems would actually get called out for lying.

      • Octavio

Ya never know. Hillary might have a wardrobe malfunction. 🙂

        • Doug105

          No.

          • Rebecca Gardner

            That’s hysterical!

          • thank you. i got yelled at yesterday for being snarky about the fact that the Dem candidates so far are, well, old.

i’m ‘ageist’ or ‘sexist’ or something, for joking about that FACT.

          • Rebecca Gardner

Some people really need to get the rod out of their butts.Ignore them and keep the snark coming.

          • Homo Erectus

            Huckleberry’s kid?

          • BudClark

You know we can’t unsee that. Is that actually her navel below her knees???

          • Homo Erectus

            One would hope.

          • Todd20036

            Yup. Better than the alternative

          • RoFaWh

            I’d say so.

It’s easy to snark at such a photo, so let’s all do a little sensitivity training by thinking very hard “Poor thing!” and “There but for the grace of God go I.”

          • BudClark

I’m 5’9”. I weigh 268 lbs, because of being bedridden / confined to a wheelchair for 14 years. If that’s the case with her, I apologize.

          • Todd20036

They may be old, but they aren’t stupid. Which is more then I can say about the menagerie of GOP candidates

    • bill weber

I find HRC’s willingness to contradict her entire last 24 years immaculately entertaining.

      • Todd20036

        Um. What?

    • Homo Erectus
  • Gustav2

No, we will leave the circular firing squads to Fox.

  • Not totally clear why Taint Stains thinks not airing on Fox means it won’t be a debate.

    • elvigy

Because they won’t have to face the really tough questions, like “If Michael Dukakis’ wife were a fetus, would you let her be aborted?” or “Gays-execute them or just ship them to Mexico?”.

      You know, the real issues.

      • Homo Erectus

        I just LOVE Olivia Dukakis.

        • Homo Erectus

          Nevermind.

    • PLAINTOM

      One God One Network.

      General Todd is loss!

Grab the Crypt-tonight laced butterfly nets…

  • Circ09

I thought the nominating convention was not until July? But the last debate is in March? Huh?

    • David Walker

By then, most of the big primaries will have been held and the “clear winner” will have been anointed by the media.

      • After super tuesday it’s unlikely that either party will still have much of a race left. 2008 was an aberration. I can’t think of another primary season that wasn’t mostly decided by the end of March since 1976.

  • another_steve

Oh please please please… DON’T let Joe Biden enter the race.

Not “Loose Lips” Biden. Stupid Mouth Joe.

Not the man who, when he was Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, helped grease the way for the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

    • People4Humanity

As Chair, Joe also borked the nomination of Bork to SCOTUS.

      • another_steve

        Oy vay. Robert Bork.

At least with Thomas, we have a mindless theocratic dunce. With Bork, we would have had an intellectual theocrat.

Perhaps the greatest threat to world security is the presence of intellectual theocrats in government.

  • JT

@toddstarnes: You mean no “Nuremberg Rally” type of debates?

  • BeaverTales

Where in “Nevada” is the first one? a raft on the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe?
    Caesar’s Palace?
    Area 51?

They do know Nevada is large, and a rather non-specific address I hope?

  • Bill_Perdue
  • dcurlee

Uhh no Todd they just choose to debate on a real network

  • TexPlant

    What a little bitch!

  • Dale

Oh yes, because Fixed Noise is truly the ONLY source of relevant information, which is why it has so many foreign affiliates.

    Oh wait!

  • AtticusP

“Whosoever … hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: (He)… that hath a blemish in his eye….. he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God. … Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries.” — Leviticus 21:17-23

  • Ninja0980

Hey Todd, you mean how the GOP debates are only going to be on Faux?

  • RaygunsGoZap

Todd Starnes is a man who works at Fox. In other words – not a man.

  • anne marie in philly

    FUCK YOU, TODD!

I will enjoy listening to these D debates to see who is the best candidate for the POTUS job.

  • zhera

Todd, your intellect is showing and nobody’s impressed.

  • PLAINTOM

The DNC wants actual debates on real news networks not circus sideshows.

  • Rocco Gibraltar

I will vote in 2016, only to avoid another Scalia, Alito, or heaven forbid, a Thomas.

    • Chris Baker

I wish more people thought that way. SCOTUS has a lot of power and more long-term effects these days than Congress or the President. The next President can really shape the court for the next decade or two. Scalia and Kennedy will be 80 next year, RBG is 82, Breyer is 76. Change is coming to the courts during the next Presidential term, and additional changes the next. All the other justices are in their 60s or under.

And there’s always the unexpected early retirements like O’Connor.

Imagine if SCOTUS had upheld the bans on SSM. We would have decades of fights over the issue on a state-by-state basis. Bills passed, then alternate bills passed, etc. Lots of time, money and effort wasted.

      • Silver_Witch

But that is exactly what was said about President Obama and yet not one appointee to the courts. I would hate to see this flag waived so much that people don’t believe it to be valid

Vote for the best candidate period. Not based on “who can win” remember they said the same early on re Obana and he won when most HRC supporters claimed the appointee line.

        • Chris Baker

What? Sotomayor and Kagan were nominated by Obama and are now on SCOTUS. (During his first term, yes.) But who do you suppose McCain would have nominated? And Justices have personal family issues, or may get an illnes, or decide to retire early.

In the Presidential election there are two candidates capable of winning. One will swing the court to the right, the other to the left. By not voting, a person is letting someone else decide.

          • Silver_Witch

Never advocate not voting – never. It is our right and our duty to vote regardless. I do however resent the Meh of “its about SCOTUS so even if you don’t like HRC you have to vote for her”. I vote for who I think will do the best job of the field.

My biggest beef is calling the race over a year before the game is played.

Let them talk and advocate and vote for the best – not who you think will win. EVERYONE was saying the same re Obama and HRC…who won??? Obama – and rewon again in the second term.

            Vote for the BEST!!! Period.

  • bambinoitaliano

Any legitimate candidate is best avoid the gonorrhea of a network. Nothing good will ever come out of associating oneself with that trailer trash of misinformation churning sweat shop.

  • Rebecca Gardner

It’s tweets like that that make me sad Todd has blocked me on Twitter.

  • Soren456

    None on AM radio, either.

    Poor Todd.

  • Marides48

Again, Toddio makes no sense. Just more noise to draw attention to himself.

  • Rocco Gibraltar

I will vote Democrat for president no matter name or sex of candidate. But I have no enthusiasm at all.

    • GreatLakeSailor

      What would pique your enthusiasm?

  • sherman

I’d like to have the concession for Confederate Flag sales near the Charleston debate site.

  • olandp

    That Toddy, such a card!

  • Homo Erectus

    Fox Skews.

  • Princess Lardass
  • DaveMiller135

“In other words – real debates.”

  • BudClark

Mr. Starnes: why would any rational person or political party want to have anything to do with the odiferous bag of equine excrement that is Faux Noise?

  • Dale

    Foreign affiliates:

    Al Jezeera – 77

    Fixed Noise – 0

YOU choose the credible news source.

  • Blake Jordan

Maybe if Faux News employed a real journalist (moderator), even temporary, the DNC would let a debate occur on that channel.

  • SockMikey

Crazy like a Fox sometimes means you’re actually crazy.

You see some moderator’s like Megyn Kelly soft-balling the Duggar Family and then trying to create “gotcha media moments” and media grabbing headlines.

Fox generally conducts itself by exerting undue influence on what is seen as “news” and how the news is skewed going thru it’s “fair & balanced” pipeline.

Why would the DNC or candidates want Fox to have this amount of influence on it’s process?

  • Todd Starnes

    Squeak! Squeak! Where’s my nubbin?

  • sonoitabear

    Bubble Boy toddler says what?

  • NMNative

Thankfully the Democrats are fully aware that Faux news in not news and refuse to lower themselves to appear on that waste of airtime. Good for them.

  • BudClark

Mr. Starnes: the Democratic Party is not obliged to hold a debate in an abandoned septic tank (i.e. Fox News).

Why are there no GOP debates on any other networks but Fox? Couldn’t they stomach your candidates, or would no one sponsor them?

    Have a nice day!
