Billboard Of The Day

Via Pink News:

A local radio host is taking aim at Caitlyn Jenner’s transition on a new billboard ad – in a town where a trans woman was nearly beaten to death last year. Denny Schaffer, whose show airs on Star 105.5 in Toledo, Ohio, is pictured on the billboard imitating the Olympian’s Vanity Fair cover, on which she unveiled her new identity. The caption reads: “Transition to Star 105.5 and don’t call me Caitlyn.” However some of the local trans community have slammed the station, given just last November a trans woman was attacked in broad daylight and nearly beaten to death in the town. Candice Milligan, 33, was punched, kicked, and robbed of her mobile phone in downtown Toledo, by three male perpetrators who screamed derogatory abuse.

The station is capitalizing on the controversy by inviting listeners to call in and say whether the billboard should come down.

RELATED: Viewership nose-dived this week for the second episode of Jenner’s reality show.

Jenner, the former athlete whose transgender journey is probably the most famous in the world, has lost half her audience in the second week of the show. It drew 1.3 million cable viewers on Sunday night, down from 2.7 million for the premiere. The second episode’s ratings are lower than for any episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, on which Jenner originally starred, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “The series opened to lofty ratings expectations, thanks in big part to the record highs Jenner brought to 20/20 with her exclusive April sit-down with Diane Sawyer,” it says of I Am Cait. Variety attributes the 53 per cent drop for the latest episode to “curious viewers” failing to have an appetite for more of the show, which is about the transformation of Jenner from Bruce to Caitlin.

  • *sigh* is all I can muster at this billboard. While transphobic, it’s far from the worst that shock jocks have pulled (not that that makes it right).

That’s kinda surprising that the ratings fell so far so fast.

  • friendlynerd

I grew up in Toledo. Denny Schaffer has always been a shithead and I’m truly shocked he’s still on the air. He was a hack in the 90s and I fully expected his local celebrity to flame out by now but I guess not.

    • The shitheads are the ones that get the ratings. See also: Bubba the Love Sponge.

    • leastyebejudged

      Radio just plain sucks nowadays.

There’s really just one massive corporation that owns most radio stations now. That was not possible before the deregulation in the 80’s. The public ate the shit up though and let it happen.

      • #ClearChannelBlows

        • RobynWatts

The station is owned by Cumulus. They are just as bad.

FWIW: Clear Channel no longer exist. They renamed the company IHeartMedia (which does little to relieve them of their massive debt they owe Bain Capital for the money they borrowed to buy all of those stations back in the late 90s).

          • Shows how long it’s been since I’ve listened to AM radio of my own volition 🙂

          • RobynWatts

Don’t worry, you’re not missing much! Mostly, it’s just blowhards or religion on deteriorating static-filled signals.

          • Lumpy Gaga

Restore the public airwaves and make cellphone users wait for call access like long distance calls in ’50s movies. Civilization somehow survived.

          • Oh, I know. Rush Limpballs, Glenny the Crier, Alex Jones, Mark Levin…they’re all on Columbus radio.

Thing is, if you go below about 98 MHz on the FM dial, you start running into more religious tripe. The bf’s mama listens to it on about THREE radios spread through the house.

          • fuzzybits

At least we have CD102.5 which sounds weird saying since it was CD101 for years. And WCBE our NPR station plays good music.

          • ZhyKitty

It’s FM radio they sunk their fangs into here in SC.
I quit listening because they destroyed our best station…and down here there wasn’t much choice to begin with.
They came in and fired our most beloved (and liberal) morning shock jock – Zach Tyler, saying his “Rude Awakening” show was too dirty and over the top (everyone loved it) and replaced him with a bunch of libertarian douchebags that only hard righties like. Their positions on just about everything suck balls and, of course, the whole format to our ONLY rock station was ruined as well.

          • RobynWatts

But Karma worked out as Zakk Tyler is now working in Chicago after stops in San Jose and Atlanta, while Skip Church (one half of “The Rise Guys”, the morning show that replaced Zakk)) got busted for DUI sometime ago.

Zhy, have you ever heard of X98.5 (WJMZ-HD2)? They have an Modern/Alternative Rock music format (think Coldplay, Mumford & Sons. Florence+The Machine, Black Keys, Fun. etc) that may or may not be to your liking. The only disadvantage is that their analog signal on 98.5 may not cover where you live (The signal is a low powered FM translator that covers mostly the city of Greenville. but starts fading out once you leave the city limits Not their fault. That is how the FCC has this signal licensed.) But you can hear them online at http://www.x985fm.com as well as 107.3-HD2 on a digital radio.

          • Piet

Bain Capital as in rMoney? Somehow that’s not surprising.

          • RobynWatts

That’s the one. After ownership caps were changed to where a single company could own up to 6 signals per city, Clear Channel and the companies that eventually became part of Clear Channel went on a buying spree, buying stations left and right. The idea was to have Clear Channel stations in every single media market in order to import their best radio shows (usually from New York or Los Angeles) at the cost of local on-air jobs. In order to finance, they borrowed heavily from Bain Capital.

Then, the dot-com bubble burst. Clear Channel found itself unable to service its debts to Bain. So they wind up laying off people nationwide and manage to refinance the debt with Bain. This cycle has been going on for the last 15 years.

Cumulus has done pretty much the same thing. They did go into bankruptcy at one point, but managed to pull themselves out after selling some of their stations, but they put themselves back into debt after acquiring former Citadel and ABC/Disney radio stations. They are financed by Bain Capital as well.

It’s high time monopolies have got to go, no matter if they are in broadcasting, banking, or any other industry.

        • ZhyKitty

They came in and fucking ruined our morning radio here…ruined it.
          I HATE Clear Channel!

      • fuzzybits

And it doesn’t matter what genre it is they play the same damn 20 songs over and over.

      • Ginger Snap

I’m so glad I can still get Matty In The Morning on Kiss 108 Boston. I’ve been listening since the 80’s. I believe they are part of I Heart Radio now.

    • RobynWatts

Wasn’t Schaffer fired from a station in Michigan for doing the exact same thing he’s doing right now? You would think with the ever-shrinking availablity of jobs in radio, along with decreasing audience shares that want to listen to OTA radio, this guy would think twice about pulling stunts like this.

  • lymis

On closer examination, it’s not a photo of Jenner, so it’s just tasteless, which would be hardly a surprise for a shock jock radio show.

I don’t see the billboard as inherently transphobic, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find that the host is, which would make the billboard be.

  • TK

I respect Caitlyn’s transition process, but I’m not shocked by this. The media has a greater love for her than the general public does. I find her boring and unlikeable.

    • Dramphooey

Caitlyn is a Republican. If she wants to be on TV why doesn’t she get a wig and be the “bubble headed bleach blond” that comes on at five? She can be the host for Lindsey’s Happy Hour debate.

    • Gustav2

I thought the show was boring, but didn’t think I was the target audience since the show covered issues I was familiar. Now, I guess the folks who need to be informed are bored, too.

      • Gerry Fisher

If it signals the beginning of the end of the “follow me around with a camera and watch me do ordinary things while concocting drama with what I say” trend, maybe it’s a *good* thing.

    • robirob

It’s media hype, pure and simple.

The media claims that so-and-so is so very popular, but ratings and sale numbers of tickets, music or book sales, etc. don’t back the claims up.

One other example is the Kim Kardashian Selfie book. First it was reported that it’s a flop, but now the media tells a different story and it’s not such a flop after all. The media wants to save face.

    • Lumpy Gaga

Yeah, pick up her Vanity Fair issue (for the article). You’d dislike her without waiting for the TV show.

  • Dramphooey

It is a good thing that the ratings of Jenner’s show are plummeting. I must assume anyone who tuned in to a reality show was hoping for lurid trash.

    • Ben in Oakland

Exactly what I was going to write. I’m sure a lot of people tuned in just so they could see Jenners Jenner-Talla. When it didn’t show up on the first go around, they lost interest. I suspect that Jenner is no more interesting as a woman than she was when she was a man.

      • Octavio

        Points for “Jenner-talia.”

        • Ben in Oakland

I know. Sometimes I am extremely clever. I wish more people would appreciate it

          • uhhuhh

            lol. cute

  • bkmn

A cheap and tacky stunt by a radio moron. As for the Famewhorian KKKlan I don’t give two shits.

    • Bj Lincoln

      Welcome to Ohio.

  • Jeffrey

The press has given Caitlyn Jenner all the free press anyone could ever want and people were mildly interested and now they are over it. Like everything else the Kardashians do, they shove it down your throat until you don’t want to hear another word about them. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to see any more of the Kardashians and the various side shows under their tent.

    • another_steve

From the get-go, Jenner’s whole journey has been handled like a freak show. What was a genuine “learning moment” for the world re what it means to be trans devolved into a circus.

I don’t think Jenner has helped the cause at all.

Actually, I think she’s hurt it.

      • GarySFBCN

Freak show? Possibly. It certainly was handled as a media event.

But I do think that Jenner has helped. She started the national discussion and I think there has been a positive cultural shift. For example, jokes about trans people are seen as being offensive and/or wrong by greater numbers of people.

        • MattM

          Exactly.

        • Chris

That had begun long before Caitlyn entered the picture and decided that instagramming pictures of her shoe closet was activism.Laverne Cox had magazine covers before Caitlyn became public. What had been a possible continuation of the work of others has become another cheesy reality show.

          • GarySFBCN

Oh please. Life is a cheesy reality show. Get over it.

          • 2karmanot

            Bingo

        • TinaLynn

“. . . jokes about trans people are seen as being offensive and/or wrong by greater numbers of people.”

          Prove it.

        • 2karmanot

Well at first maybe so, but recently she has been spouting off right wing talking points and even lectured some of her less fortunate sisters to find good men, while stating she still remains heterosexually interested in women. Quite frankly I’m increasingly finding her a nit wit elitist, more drag queen than transgendered: http://www.counterpunch.org/2015/08/05/the-fake-courage-of-caitlyn-jenner/

          • BudClark

How is she not just a run of the mill “chick with a dick” if she doesn’t intend to get a vagina?

      • lymis

I think it’s too early to tell how she’s affected trans people in general. There’s something often extremely positive when the goal-posts for what people see as weird and scandalous move to normalized and unremarkable.

If nothing else, there will be a lot of people who can transition more openly and be judged by the standards of whether they are more scandalous than Jenner, and be treated as boring and commonplace.

Much the way gay people moved from freak show to “the neighbors” a generation ago, unless we go out of our way to be outrageous.

It won’t be overnight, but it’s already in progress.

        • another_steve

Problem is, her transition was highly sensationalized. See the Vanity Fair cover, which was meant to titillate, not educate. Your average 16-year-old boy struggling with his being trans does not identify with a big boozy and sexy heavily-made up sexpot.

Any trans people reading here who care to correct me, please do so.

          • Lumpy Gaga

I’m 52 and I identify with big, boozy, heavily made-up sexpots.

          • another_steve

I’m older than you. Although it would be fun to be one of those, I no longer have the energy for it. :-/

          • Mark

I hear ya. I’d end up in a fight with the bra – and the bra would win simply by tiring its opponent.

          • another_steve

As a queerling I did some drag for fun but always had trouble with the bras. My brain circuitry is/was just unable to deal with it.

            Probably a “guy thing.”

        • 2karmanot

All Cait has proved is that anyone who can buy million dollar boobs and French fashion can descend to the level of Kardashian drag queens.

      • 2karmanot

Cait Clown is just another Kardashian media whore.

      • Denis

I don’t know. It’s entirely possible people expected a RH style train-wreck, but were turned off by a surprisingly nuanced and sensitive show that has tried to bring trans women of color and of all socio-economic backgrounds together. Jenny Boylan’s commentary was excellent. She featured in just as much of the second episode as Caitlyn and was a constant voice of reason that kept Jenner’s privilege in check. The show is trying very hard to be intelligent, informative, and entertaining… It’s an impossible task and simply can’t make everyone happy, but hoping it fails and wishing that Cait was vanish along with her odious family isn’t productive.

        • another_steve

What I’d like to see is Cait becoming an agent for educating the American public about what it means to be trans and what that journey is like.

I have several together straight friends who have said things to me across the dinner table that suggest that Jenner is not being an effective agent of change in the public consciousness of trans issues.

          That worries me.

My friends are good, educated, compassionate people. These are people who want, truly, to understand.

    • TreGibbs

      Yes – this !! ^^^

    • GarySFBCN

I disagree. If people felt that they were shoving it down their throats, nobody would be watching anymore.

Me? I’ve seen about 15 minutes of them total over the last few years and that is my capacity.

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

EXACTLY! It’s the same reasoning when hearing the Christofascist bitch about a gay character on a tv show. Don’t like it? Change the damn channel. Problem solved.

      • Jeffrey

oh, in sorry. I must be wrong. People must be dying for more on the Caitlyn Jenner story but are just afraid to watch it.

        • ZhyKitty

She won’t win a big audience from our team, that’s for sure. Not with her horrible personality, all high and mighty, looking down on the poor (regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation), and voting against gay rights.
She doesn’t give a flying fuck about any of us.

May she receive all of the life lessons she so desperately needs, and so richly deserves.

          • Jeffrey

Then she is living up to her class as a republican!

        • GarySFBCN

I was referring to the awful Kardashians.

    • 2karmanot

      Bingo

    • Ginger Snap

I’m proud to say I have never watched a second of the K’s.

    • james_from_cambridge

Yup. I can’t really say I’m sorry the show is tanking. Didn’t see any of the two episodes because I can’t fucking stand that family. I refuse to acknowledge you can be that famous for doing and being nothing. Jennifer Lawrence is famous because she works, makes movies that make a lot of money and the attention she gets makes sense. But the Kardashians don’t do anything; they are just a media created aberration. The main Kardashian show has about two million viewers in a country of 320 million people: they’re only talked about so much in the media because of their corrupt little dealings with that right-wing asshole Harvey Levin of TMZ.

      • Jeffrey

An expose on Harvey Levin is about to come out, so it may get ugly for him. But then again, its just more press and theres no such thing as bad press.

        • james_from_cambridge

          Here’s hoping!

  • Jeff

I have listened to this guy and this is mild to some of the crap he spews. That minister of that church in Harlem doesn’t have anything on this guy. In the past he has literally promoted violence against gay people, then walked it back after an uproar. He constantly makes fun of “The Old West End” in Toledo, an area heavily populated by gay people. (And many of his billboard advertisements show him in a dress.)

  • BearEyes

Appears to be tone-deaf by design.

  • Bill

Why they gotta be so mean? What do they get out of being so mean?

    • RobynWatts

      Attention and ratings…..nothing more.

    • Safieri

You are referring to trans activists, right?

      • Lumpy Gaga

Is no morning shock-jock SAFE? When will the madness END?!?

    • Gerry Fisher

It is ironic how they’re generating some temporary ratings by disrespecting someone whose ratings are dropping.

  • Ed Burrow

Kind of off topic, but Denny Shafer got ousted from his morning radio show in New Orleans a few months back.

  • KQCA

A guy has to be fragile in every area of his life to be threatened by the mere existence of another person.

  • LovesIrony

I find little pleasure in non sexual voyeurism. I’d watch Jenner doing it with a hot guy, but don’t need to see the makeup being applied.

    • Lumpy Gaga

Any dog can fuck. I want glamour without the Annie Leibowitz Lighting and Styling Army.

Make it competitive: “The Amazing Face”.

  • uhhuhh

Re viewership: Maybe Caitlyn’s little rich, right-wing tirade against public assistance didn’t go over so well with the audience.

    • leastyebejudged

I know, right, what a bitch.

      • ZhyKitty

Fuck her, and her rich bitch, high horse, self righteous privilege. She’d fall apart if she had to live like any of us down here do – and her transition? Big difference when all you can afford are clothes from the charity box and still stay true to yourself and your transition.
She has never known hunger or need, or what it is to sweat till you think your head will explode in summer, and shiver through the winter, like the poor know. Fuck her privileged white castle dwelling self.

    • teeveedub

I watched episode 2 (you have to do something while ironing) and was surprised at how other trans women confronted Caitlin about her privilege and naïveté. Is it trashy reality TV? Of course. But it’s ałso probably more info about the trans community than middle America has ever been exposed to. I can’t help but think that in the long run it will do more good than harm. (I hope I don’t live to regret saying that.)

      • Gerry Fisher

It is an interesting example of how “the issue” often ends up being about money and class (“socioeconomic status”). All playing out in a country that fancies itself as not having rigid class barriers.

        • Lumpy Gaga

In a Very Special Episode of “I am Caitlyn”, CJ is stuck in Rio after Carnival, and has to do street ‘mones.

          • teeveedub

… until she can make her way back to her private jet.

        • ZhyKitty

          Oh, but we do….
Come to my trailerhood and you’ll see…those barriers? They’re quite rigid.

          • Ginger Snap

Now I’m in the mood to ride a rigid in a trailerhood. I’m such a dirty birdie.

          • ZhyKitty

            LOL
I DO just love you SO, you utterly fabulous bitch. Come sit next to Miss Kitty! lol

          • Ginger Snap

I’m only going to sit with you if you bring an extra rigid for me to sit on. LOL. Please make sure he hasn’t been homeskooled though.

          • ZhyKitty

That would be to assume any man in this trailerhood had any schooling at all…or any past the 8th grade, anyway, including my own Big Daddy….
Girl, the only stiff ones on this side of the county you’re going to want to sit on, you’re never going to be able to discuss books with the guys they’re attached to. You learn to live with it.
Good dick is good dick, after all.
            LMAO

          • Ginger Snap

As long as the cock is hot and they know how to use it I’m not one to complain. Rednecks really do know how to toss a hotdog down a hallway.

          • ZhyKitty

Yassum, they do know how to throw the dick. I actually have a theory on that, if you’ll permit me to ramble for a second? lol
These men are not well educated, and so they use their muscles and strength to labor. By the time they are in their mid to late 20’s, they’re built like bull oxen from it, especially if they already had a large frame. (Nice if one likes being carried around and fucked against walls, etc.)
Now, poor people can’t afford many of the amusements of life, but, as we all know, sex is free if you’re hot.
So, they get right good at it.
I’ll tell you, they make for good hard working providers once they’re past their youth, and they’re fantastic in the sack to boot.
Yes, you give up the possibility of stimulating intellectual conversation by choosing one of them, but that’s what your friends are for, right? lol
Besides, opposites attract…and there are great advantages to being smarter than your mate, and even greater ones to being mated to a man who is built like a gladiator or Viking but who uses this strength only to protect and thrill you. lol

So, anytime you want, you just come on down and visit and pick yourself out a mount or two to ride. They’re all over the place down here. lol

          • Ginger Snap

This post was like music to my ears.

          • ZhyKitty

You’re too kind. I know I ramble far too much. lol

          • Ginger Snap

You could talk about sex, redneck men and trucks with me and I’d never get bored 😉 Lot’s of kisses for ya Zhy.

          • ZhyKitty

You’re such a gem, Ginger. xoxoxo

BTW this new profile pic you have is awesome!

          • Ginger Snap

I was trying to pick up “Family Men” out on the town in their mini vans with car seats.

      • uhhuhh

Good for them! Yes, I hope you’re right.

Of course I’m waiting for the huge shoe that you know has to drop sometime: that Caitlyn supported Prop. 8.

        • teeveedub

          {Cringe}

          • uhhuhh

            I know, right?

        • ZhyKitty

          Because she’s a horrible person.

  • Lumpy Gaga

Thanks to five unelected judges, Caitlyn (given her politics) could marry one of the Duggars. Ratings gold, I tell ya.

Episode 1: “A surprise for Josh!”

    • Ginger Snap

      Now that’s funny.

  • Lumpy Gaga

“Morning Zoo” drive-time radio. Ah, sweet civilization.

    • BobSF_94117

I’ve never understood why anyone would want to start the day listening to “shock radio”.

      • Octavio

I don’t know of anyone who pines for the days they were stuck in Phoenix traffic listening to Danny Bonaduce. Seattle is currently stuck with him.

      • ZhyKitty

If you’d had The Rude Awakening to listen to, you’d have loved it. Best show ever on the radio, and the music was awesome.

  • Equality Ohio and EQ Toledo have had their pitchforks out the last three days, and I’ve been one of the few contrarians to post on their wall after they celebrated getting the boards taken down. Here’s exactly what I wrote this morning:

    “I’m still of two minds.

One, this is perfect capitalism at work, so yes, this can be considered a good thing. Someone does something, there’s a public outcry, and the party in charge of the display/ content makes a business decision based upon said outcry.

But again, after the Canseco flap that reared its head 3 days ago and how EQOH was rightfully taken to the cleaners for its response (i.e., telling him to ‘buzz off’), I’m still wondering if we’re simply being our own worst enemies. I simply don’t know.

Yes, this is a cheap joke, but mainly for the reason that it’s *trite.* It’s worth about 2 chuckles (and not much more) when you’re driving by on the freeway because this is the level of inanity that the no-name morning show people tend to gravitate toward.

Grabbing the pitchforks and going after every cultural slight may or may not be the best tactic for winning over apathetic or unaware people in society. ‪#‎Contrarian‬”

    • EQOH went rabid because Jose Canseco decided he was going to dress as a woman in “solidarity” for a week to get to understand issues involved with being trans. Yes, it’s a publicity stunt, but EQOH’s idea of telling him to pretty much “shove it” ended up getting some really nasty feedback, to the point where their FB mod actually had to admit that we had brought up some good points (i.e., solidarity, understanding others, etc.)

Two times going to the rabid responses seems to be a bit off-putting. I’m really close to taking my EQOH flag down that I put on my wall after GG9 last year. Annoying.

    • Tim

Next time, ask them why they are spending all their time talking about heterosexual crossdressers when they should be fighting for gay rights and equality. This is what happens when an :LGB group gets transjacked.

      • I don’t even care about that: in fact, I am fully in support of everyone being part of the same group here. We’re stronger in numbers, especially against the Christianist nutters.

It’s all about doing things *smart,* though. Sometimes I wonder if we don’t do that.

        • Tim

Wake up, my brother. They are not helping us. They are using us. They have tiny numbers, no resources, and huge issues. As smart moves go, allying with a weak group with huge demands is not so smart. Very smart for them to latch onto us and use us, however. And instead of setting up an alliance, they created “LGBT” which lets them claim to be owners of our movement and to demand that we put their issues ahead of ours, which is exactly what you see with Equality Ohio, GLAAD, the “LGBTQ” Task Force, etc.

          • …and the same thing could be said about us 40 years ago before we made any inroads with the general public.

I’m not kicking anyone out if they’re willing to work in good stead. I don’t harbor that level of hubris.

          • Steven Leahy

Cody, I totally agree with your statement…I remember when we were the “freaks” and doing that to someone else makes me cringe and I can’t do that either. I think we should include and embrace the TG community.

That said, Caitlyn Jenner is the worst kind of individual to for us to advocate for, not because of her Trans status but her horrible politics and alignments. We don’t tolerate homocons in the form of gay males who do things that work against us and she’s no different. I don’t think she should get a pass because she’s transgender.

          • Exactly. I’m trying to stay as open-minded as anyone here, though. I don’t want to turn this into a pissing match. That doesn’t help us at *all.*

  • lymis

Jenner’s life arc went from Olympian to Kardashian.

I wish her well, but I’m not going to watch.

    • Gerry Fisher

DO something with your situation, Caitlyn, more than just filming “a day in the life.” Take that excellent ESPN speech and take some action based on it, even if it’s done out of hottest media spotlight.

  • leastyebejudged

Rich and privileged Republican media whore turns out to not be a very good representative of the trans community ?

    Who would have thought…

    • Lumpy Gaga

In a Very Special Episode of “I am Caitlyn”, CJ stiffs the Chinese manicurist because she doesn’t think tips are necessary. Watch the fireworks as Caitlyn demands answers: “Doesn’t she get a ride to work every day?!?”

  • TexPlant

I am ready for the next news cycle! I am so tired of Caitlyn and Cecil! Next, PLEASE!!

    • Lumpy Gaga

      Doctor, is that you?

    • Safieri

I wonder how many anonymous sex partners you have per news cycle.

    • Gerry Fisher

      “Leave Cecil a-LONE!!!”

  • TinaLynn

So according to trans activists, you can’t say anything against Bruce Jenner in Toledo because some trans person was mugged a year ago. The perps in that mugging were 3 Black men, so does that mean that it is mandatory to criticize the new host of The Daily Show?

    • Lumpy Gaga

      Uh, ummmm.. sure!

    • PalJoey

Using trans activist logic, it should be mandatory to vote Republican, since Caitlyn Jenner is a Republican who complains on her show about “lazy poor people.” If you vote Democratic, it is like you committing a hate crime against Caitlyn, and by extension Candice Milligan. lol!

  • Gerry Fisher

Clearly inappropriate and disrespectful in its trivialization. That being said, when looked at from the angle of “there’s no such thing as bad publicity,” it’s a brilliant piece of marketing.

As for the reality show, Caitlyn’s said that marketing her show was not the point, that there’s a larger political issue in play, here. Right? So, regardless of the show’s success, let’s see where she goes from here.

  • matt n

if he’s trying to be truly tasteless, he’s succeeded. it’s like doing blackface. probably worse considering the situation for trans people right now. all the attacks and killings.

    • Lumpy Gaga

His mother must be so proud.

  • Lumpy Gaga

Call me when Caitlyn has to lip-sync for her life.

    • ZhyKitty

Please. Any of Ru’s girls would eat her alive.

  • MrRobotoLA

Toledo is my hometown. And my friends from there still ask me all the time, “Why did you leave?”

    Here’s a hint.

    • fuzzybits

      From Fremont here.

      • Just keep creeping closer to Willard 🙂

        • fuzzybits

No,i’m in Columbus but grew up in Fremont. Haven’t lived there for over thirty years.

          • You all were traveling right down Route 20 on this thread (or close to!): Toledo, BG, Fremont, Willard ^_^

    • Princess Lardass

Born and raised in BG. As soon as I’m done at BGSU, I’m getting the fuck out of Northwest Ohio!

  • Robincho

    Call me Faimwhore…

  • 2karmanot

Notice to Cait: Just STFU you right wing, clueless cow! There…..

  • Macbill

I wish her all the luck in the world. I have zero interest in her personally, but if she can make a buck off it, go for it.

  • That’s sad about the ratings. The second episode’s examination of privilege was brilliant.

  • Hank

Only thing I kind of don’t like about Caitlin Jenner is how this attention whore of the highest magnitude managed to get all the media’s attention with regard to gay rights, exactly when marriage equality is nationalized. Now, mainstream media looks to Cait’s life and glamour and suggests there mere gaze upon it is enough to tell the larger public that gays are welcome. It only helps that she’s conservative. Fuck Cait, her white privilege and her crocodile tears. I’m not buying it. Bye.

  • I’m kinda tied about the billboard itself. It’s a little tongue-in-cheek humorous, but then he pisses on it by saying “Don’t call me Caitlyn.” So, down vote from me. Also, this asshole can rot in hell and I hope they cancel his program, because he wasn’t joking, he’s just being a bigot.

    • Exactly. My bf was as mad about it as anyone, but when I mentioned the first line to him, he blew up laughing, since I’d not even realized that part ’til today. It’s actually sorta funny on that part. The second part is what pisses on the concept.

  • josephsinger

Proof that there are more people who are assholes besides Donald Trump.

  • josephsinger

I’ve been over the Caitlyn Jenner thing from the outset but I’m doubly over it since she thinks that the Republican party still wants her even though in their eyes all trans people (including Caitlyn) are icky. Why someone like this still clings to backward Republican positions mystifies me.
