Duggar Family Issues Money Beg

Via Radar Online:

How low will they go? Thanks to their former lucrative TLC contracts, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are reportedly millionaires. However, now that the network has canceled the family’s reality show, 19 Kids And Counting, following disgraced son Josh’s sex abuse scandal, the shameless parents and their ultra-Christian brood are begging fans for financial support, RadarOnline can reveal. On the conservative clan’s official YouTube page, Duggar Studios, the family asks for supporters to contribute funds so the kids can create “fresh quality content” on their video site. “Every contribution is helpful, big or small,” they claim. However, the videos, featuring the children playing basketball and going to the dentist, don’t seem to require much of a budget. Also, clips are only uploaded to the account once every few months. The former reality stars have a history of money grubbing.

More from OK Magazine: “According to a report, the Duggars lost their $45,000-per-episode paychecks along with endorsement deals, sponsorships, speaking engagements and royalties, which could amount to a ‘$25 million or more a year’ loss in total.”

  • Joe in PA

Hmmm, no money saved after making millions? I see their financial planning worked about as well as their family planning.

    Disgusting bunch of grifters.

    • David Walker

No, no, no. It’s all been prayerfully invested in good, god-fearing companies…companies that are losing money to the corporations that have backed equality. Or maybe they’ll invest as Trekkie Monster did in “Avenue Q”:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kV7ou6pl5wU

    • Queequeg

      Parasites, like crab lice.

    • PiperPine

I am positive they saved plenty of money this is just the Duggars trying to scrape in a bit more before the spigot runs dry.

      • Jude Newton

That spigot is spouting fracking water now. 🙂

    • teedofftaxpayer

I read somewhere that they own a whole lot of real estate. If they can get money just for begging, why not? No skin of their backs.

  • Herald

Despicable grifting and excessively greedy, but what else is new with this lot?

    • StraightGrandmother

Totally, and not only that they are not even saving money for the kids to go to college since none of their kids go to college. The girls especially they do not want college educated, two of them at least trained to be a mid-wife. So what are they doing with the money? Arkansas probably doesn’t requre the parents to hold the money in Trust accounts for the children. Child actors are paid & in California they have strict rules on this. I wonder if the Duggar kids were paid at all or if all the money simply went to Jim & Michelle?

      • Mark

The “family” kitty got it all (similar to the ‘general fund’ in most states)

        • BobSF_94117

two of them at least trained to be a mid-wife

Always handy to have a couple of those around the house…

  • Frostbite

I’d be sad over losing $25M a year too!

  • Ninja0980

Doesn’t the Bible say greed is bad?

    • JeffreyMGr

their cherry picker couldn’t reach that topic. silly.

  • zhera

    “fresh quality content”

Quality? Going to the dentist? HAHAHA

Is their dentist called Walter Palmer, by any chance?

    • b

Fresh, quality content sounds like porn.

      • zhera

        Jesus porn.

  • DaveW

I guess they spent al that money. Idiots, like pro athletes don’t plan for when the gig is up. It always ends. Idiots, should have kept 80% of that 25m per year, would be all set.

    • skeptical_inquirer

Even if they only earned it for four years, that’s still $100 million dollars. They could live off the damn interest.

  • Ninja0980

Hard to keep all that money when you have 19 mouths to feed.

  • JT
    • Joe in PA

      palling around with didlers?

      • KCMC

        appalling

        • Joe in PA

d’oh…I see what you did there. (I really am slow in the morning). 🙂

          • KCMC

hold my hand take a deep breath…

          • Joe in PA

hey wait a sec, the last time I heard that…it was coupled with “and just relax”.

            oh my

          • KCMC

            …and swim with me…

    • D. J.

The above candidates should pull out of the presidential race, just like JimNob should have stopped bowling for babies.

    • skeptical_inquirer

The hilarious thing is that I haven’t seen Trump in a picture with Josh.

      • People4Humanity

        Dammit.

      • DesertSun59

That’s because Trump is no Christian.

  • AtticusP

I can just hear my late grandmother saying, “More nerve than brains!”

    • Gerry Fisher

      Great saying!

    • Cherry

My mom’s saying was similar. Her’s was “more money than brains”.

  • Cosmo Tupper

Now back to REAL reality. Gotta’ get a REAL job to support the herd, now, huh? Reality TV, my ass!

  • Wynter Marie Starr

So they want others to pay for their double litter of kids? They don’t parent them and now they won’t support them. Try prayer, Billybob.

    • Michael Rush

it feels great seeing them off the air until you realize each of their kids will have 20 kids and we will probably be Duggar’ed for eternity ,.It made me think of the mommy in the movie ” ALIENS “

      • Justin

At least some of the offspring will get a clue and distance themselves from their origins. Count on it.

        • Michael Rush

ah that ” rebel against my parents ” phase . i did read a quote from one of Anita Bryant’s kids that they were all more “moderate ” than she was .

Robert Green Jr.: I think of the four of us kids of Bob Green and Anita Bryant, I am probably the most sympathetic towards gay and lesbian rights and probably in a lot of ways more socially, politically, religiously left of certainly where my parents were at that time. All of us are more moderate than our parents.

          • David Walker

Genghis Khan was more moderate than she was.

          • Michael Rush

little miss ” they can’t breed so they have to recruit our children ” .

          • People4Humanity

            OK, that got me riled.

  • Harley

Maybe they can let the kids hang out on street corners with cardboard signs grifting for money.

    • Steven Leahy

They’re effectively already doing the exact same thing albeit a bit better dressed.

  • Steven Leahy

These people are shameless and beyond repulsive, even for them. They certainly already have a couple million in the bank at least to subsist on but that’s not enough. Maybe that shiftless useless husband of hers should get a real job and actually support the irresponsibly-bred family he helped create.

BTW how much could “web content” POSSIBLY cost when bloggers and freelance website owners create it in their own time with their own efforts and ask for nothing, every day?

    • Mark

Not much difference in getting paid to get fucked and getting paid to fuck. Either way, that 15 minutes is over.

    • leo77

The show ran for 10 seasons, That’s 10 lucrative years that should have allowed them to amass some significant savings and investments.

Also, from what I’ve read, over the years they’ve depended on charity from their co-religionists. (Whether they continued to receive charity during the run of the show I’m not sure.) The point being that this “wholesome” family model is in fact completely irresponsible and unsustainable. (Brian Brown take note.) Having children you can’t support is now a conservative value.

Let the religious kooks who support this idiot behavior open their wallets to support it.

      • Steven Leahy

Agree, the irony with this situation vs. the classic irresponsible welfare mother stereotype is just staggering.

        • skeptical_inquirer

Seriously, if they weren’t white fundies, all the conservatives currently kissing their asses would be screaming “Moocher! Taker! Get a freaking job and stop breeding like rats!”

        • D. J.

They haven’t helped Honey Boo-Boo or Octomom, but they deserve sympathy and handouts?
Octopop Brown doesn’t rake in that kind of cash (that we know about).

          • robirob

“They haven’t helped Honey Boo-Boo or Octomom, but they deserve sympathy and handouts?”

            Because … Jeebus!

      • Stev84

They were millionaires even before the show

      • b

Work to the parents if fucking without protection and strutting around like peacocks. It is a career built around bragging about how much god likes you. It should be listed with the IRS as “asshole.”

    • Raising_Rlyeh

Depends on what the content is exactly. While I agree that there are plenty of bloggers and freelance websites that do it without asking for money there are plenty who use it as their main source of income. I’ve seen examples, not many, of people whose content became more popular and through the demand they shifted to creating content as a full-time job. You are right, however, that the Duggars should have a couple million in the bank. Hopefully this teaches the kids that they need to actually be responsible, but I doubt that. Too much brainwashing.

    • David Walker

Joe posted Michelle rollerskating to “YMCA” a couple of days ago. That probably is representative of their idea of quality web content.

      • Mike Solo

But she was skating backwards! That takes talent when your vagina is basically an open ended trash can.

    • Clive Johnson

“Web content” only costs as much as a video camera, which many or most cell phones have, free editing software, which one might not even need, and an internet connection. Done. (Apologies if this was all perfectly well known to you, but since I’ve done video and editing work I’m not clear on what’s general knowledge.)

In the old days you could spend 10s of thousands on a Media 100 editing station, thousands on cameras and mics, etc.

No longer, especially for…shots of children playing basketball. Are the Duggar’s going to hire Walter Murch to edit? Spielberg to direct?

When the Duggar’s beg for donations when they know they don’t need it, they’ve sunk to a new low for sure.

  • Cuberly

So basically this is a plea to subsidize Jim Bob & Michelle’s very very very bad decisions?

Can this be real? Part of the quiverful movement is borrowed from the Mormons where they horde food and money, you know, to make it through the apocalypse and all. Frugality is supposed to be strictly observed. Then there’s the real estate they own, which I’ve read is fairly substantial.

    Insanity.

    • medaka

      Is that Michelle’s vagina?

    • Polterguest

Oh, thanks! Now I have that song stuck in my head.

      • Cuberly

        Tee hee….. 😉

    • Steven Leahy

Unless they DID hoard and they just want more!

      • David Walker

        Bingo!

      • vorpal

They needed some place to put all those children, so they had to empty out the cupboards and drawers for use as bedrooms.

      • Cuberly

        That’s what I think.

    • William

Mama Duggar’s gynecologist is also a structural engineer.

      • Cuberly

Those walls are NOT plumb, not by a long shot. 😉

    • Spray on abs

Is this from the Every Sperm is Sacred song?

      • Cuberly

        Yep….the dance sequence.

  • GayOldLady

So, the gravy train has reached the station, TLC has sent them packing and now they’re finding out there’s not a market for their ability to procreate like rabbits? Breaks my damn heart, not!!!

  • Webslinger
  • Mark

Hmmm….shove them chillin’s up there to get that poor baby response. Assholes think they are still some big movieland stars.

  • JaniceInToronto

They’re going to lose their shirts.

    Good!

    • John P.

      Karma is a bitch!

  • bkmn

Maybe Huckabee will cut them in on his grift.

    • D. J.

Hahahahahaha! Grifters don’t share their spoils. 😉

  • Steven Leahy

The only thing more offensive than the Duggars are the flocks of obedient drones who follow them around and mindlessly support them.

  • D. J.

It can’t cost them over $1M per Duggar for them to live a year.
There are 18 kids (not counting Josh) plus Michelle and JimNob. That is 20. Annual earnings of $25M. That equals earnings of over $1M/Duggar.
The Diddler, his wife and brood were a separate earnings and profit center, thanks to Tony Perkkkins.
I don’t know many families that earn $1M+ per family member and cry poverty.
Grifters indeed. Yeah, their tap got shut off, but there has to be money hidden somewhere.
They need to learn to live like regular folks. Maybe take up crafting and open an eBay store.

    • lattebud

I still have the vision of Michelle being on QVC selling high-volume appliances, cookbooks for a crowd, child rearing advice books, home schooling materials, etc.

      • D. J.

Home skoolin’ book will be easy to mail out. Stop teaching when they can can read “See Spot”.

        • McSwagg

Let’s not be hasty, now. They need to at least understand the “thees and thous” and the “begetteths”.

          • D. J.

Preacher man will tell them all he wants them to know about those…….Give cash.

  • txscotty39

    Ignorance knows no boundaries.

  • Raising_Rlyeh

“According to a report, the Duggars lost their $45,000-per-episode paychecks along with endorsement deals, sponsorships, speaking engagements and royalties, which could amount to a ‘$25 million or more a year’ loss in total.”

  • lattebud

Hey Duggars – How about living by your faith??

“25”For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26″Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27″And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life/”

    Matthew 6:25-27

  • Dennis

I heard prayer works every time.

  • Arkansan

I wonder if they will continue asking for and receiving discounts and donations from local businesses. I could never understand how they had the balls to expect others to give to them when they were hauling in the money like they were.

    • David Walker

      Because Jeebus.

  • D. J.

Are they shameless enough to run for the Skoolboard, considering they’re home skoolin’?

    • Well the person in charge of the schools in Texas homeschooled all of her kids. And in my area, two of the those on the school board refused to send their children to school. Which rather confounds me.

  • Beto

They didn’t save their earnings in the meantime? Odd.

    • Yeah, kinda hilarious coming from the folks who whine about the US government’s “fiscal irresponsibility.”

Also, doesn’t their holy book that they claim to follow say something about rich folks and Heaven?

  • William

Time to start working on my own money beg. Now if I can get the dog and cat to do that pathetic look at the same time….

    • Furface

      CGI and/or prosthetics..

  • bryan

Evidently an all powerful god is on their side, and yet they need more money. There’s an inconsistency there….

    • Like George Carlin said:

“Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ’til the end of time!

But he loves you. He loves you, and he needs money! He always needs money! He’s all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can’t handle money!”

  • Marides48

I wonder if the homeless shelter can accommodate a (traditionally) married couple & their 19 children?

  • Gerry Fisher

Politics aside, I don’t have a lot of pity for folks who made $25 million a year for a number of years and didn’t manage to become set for life.

    • Arkansan

They are set for life and this is just a shameless money grab. They were known to ask for donations and discounts where ever they bought. I witnessed it once myself with a group of the girls telling the clerk we’re Duggars, can you give us an additional discount. I have a friend that witnessed them trying to negotiate free flowers for one of the weddings, and went elsewhere when they didn’t get them. They have invested money in property and businesses and I can’t believe they will ever need finacial help. On the plus side, it’s rather amusing to see stupid people fall for this and give their hard earned money to the family that could buy and sell them many times over.

  • Justin

    Boo hoo. Get a job.

  • Mr. Enemabag Jones

which could amount to a ‘$25 million or more a year’

    Holy shit.

  • Bj Lincoln

Didn’t invest your money wisely? Didn’t save for that ‘just in cash/rainy day’ need for cash? Tough shit now buddy!! Maybe you should have given some thought to how long you could care for your ‘quiverfull’ of kids to abuse!

    • David Walker

God told them they would run on TLC forever. Or something.

      • Bj Lincoln

I am getting real tired of ‘God’ talking to these people but never to the truly good ones. Frankly, talking to ‘God’ is a sign of insanity.

        • David Walker

But…but god told Santorum to run. And Huckabee. And Palin. And Pat Robinson. And…and…oh.

          • Bj Lincoln

            Thanks for the chuckle David.

          • William

And Perry, at least last time. He hasn’t mentioned any private communications this go round.

          • David Walker

All in good time, my pretty. All in good time.

          • RoFaWh

Gawd has a very strange, but very well developed, sense of humor.

  • Whassamattuhfuhyuh?

    You say a little incest isn’t worth $25 million/year?

  • Turi

They made that much and Michelle’s hair still looked like that?

    • Arkansan

She doesn’t have many gay friends.

  • TexPlant

The root of religion is money! No matter how they tell you otherwise.

  • sw42

They’re not out. Don’t underestimate the power of the Christian right’s victimization gravy train. The Duggars are going to find money on SOME lecture circuit talking about how they’re REALLY-being-persecuted-for-loving-God-too-much-you-guys. And there’s some poor older couple in Des Moines that is frightened enough by Fox News that will gladly pay $50 apiece to listen to the Duggars speak and re-affirm their views that the Christian religion is under siege.

  • Bluto

jimmy joe jim bob is pimping out the kids. how morally superior of him. What’s next, paid guided tours of mama duggar’s uterus?

    • BaddogLtd

Bah Hah! mama duggar’s uterus. Where no doubt another sideshow clown is waiting to be born!

  • robirob

I guess it’s all tucked away in their cemetary fund.

    • oooh! Aren’t you a clever one! Bravo!!

  • Octoberfurst

So now they are begging for money? What did they do with all those millions they made? Maybe they should ask Jesus for the money since Jesus provides everything right?
The sad part is the brain-dead fundie types who follow this freakish family will no doubt send money to them. After all they are being “persecuted” for their Christian beliefs by the big bad liberal media. Plus the Duggars really need the money to make new exciting YouTube videos of their kids putting their shoes on, playing in the back yard, doing homework, talking about why they love Jeebus. Compelling videos like that ain’t cheap!

  • GunnaHurt

That family has millions in real estate, merchandising, books and public appearances. I’m sure they’re asking for money since the Pizza place and the Sweet Cakes place both made bank from idiot conservatives who wanted to make some nebulous “point” by donating to them. And I’m sure the Duggars will get at least a couple hundred thousand dollars gifted to them for posting videos of them doing things like playing basketball and playing on a swing set.

There will be more books and DVDs, there will be speaking engagements and appearances on Christian TV shows. There will be all sorts of things like calendars, T-shirts… the Duggars are just another family of grifters and they’ll wring every penny they can out of their idiot followers. They’re no different than the Palins, who also monetized themselves as much as possible without actually… doing anything.

  • Robert Adams

I would be willing to make a substantial donation IF I were assured the money would be used tubal ligations and vasectomies all around.

  • Queequeg

    No self control:
    Can’t stop popping out babies.
Can’t help but feel up your sisters.
Can’t budget all the money you got from the exploitation of your family.
    Can’t help playing martyr.
The people are parasites, and the conservatives are always complaining about the “takers”. We’re looking at you, Duggars.

  • Galvestonian

OH boo-fucking-hoo !!!! Cry me a river, you sanctimonious faux-Christian grifter family of professional con-artistes.

  • Halloween_Jack

Does anyone else think that, in this picture, Josh looks like some older creep who happened to be on the set and photobombed it?

  • LonelyLiberal

On the up side, the grifting train in this case just doesn’t have the breadth that the TLC network did. People are rapidly going to get tired of the dog and pony show without the production credits.

They should probably start economizing their lifestyle now.

    • RoFaWh

Ma and Pa Duggar could probably patch some of the holes in their budget by selling their youngest ones to Arab slave traders.

Which they would do in a flash if they could.

  • Larry Lautzenheiser

So, the Duggars are relying on PUBLIC ASSISTANCE?

  • 2patricius2

Professional martyrdom pays. That’s the message these “parents” are teaching their children.

If every child deserves a mother and a father, how in the world are these two parents able to really parent 19 children?

  • MikeBx2

They should create a new show about the parents being tried with “19 charges and counting” for abuse and general neglect. Then there could be a spin off about the kids being freed from that cult and becoming more Kardashian like. That might finally be a TLC show I could watch.

    • How about combining the Duggar kiddos and those just as abused 8 sibs from Jon and Kate +8? Can you imagine how much editing would have to happen to bleep out all the curse words the Gosselin kids know and use?

  • honestly, this just makes me angry.

where i live, there are several families with lots and lots of children. the reasons why vary, but let’s just say they aren’t republicans. and they don’t have very much money.

if i were to offer any of the matriarchs of these clans even $1M, they would fall to the ground and kiss my feet. and, make it last, until the last great grandchild graduated from medical school.

these disgusting, shameless, criminal money grubbers are whores, the lowest level of street whores. media whores. i really can’t think of a stronger insult right now. even crack whores have more decency.

i pity the children, but i wish a harsh and prolonged bought of suffering on the “parents.”

  • kiltedyak

Surprised they don’t have their children on street corners with tin cups. The lot of them can attempt airborne intercourse with a rotating pastry

  • SockMikey

I wonder if the Duggars purchased some of their real estate and other investments based on TLC/Duggar income projections? 🙂

Seriously, I hope there are child actor laws that apply for the Duggar kids in relation to their TV appearances and their parents have to maintain trusts and disburse them upon reaching majority age.

  • PiperPine

They’re like the Adam Sandlers of the QuiverFull movement. They know how to put in the least amount of effort to get people to part with their money. This channel, and I’m so sorry I looked for it, looks like the equivalent of Pixels (with less of a production budget). They clearly have little respect for their fans and less respect for what they are producing.

The sad part is you know that what they are doing will work and they’ll make even more money on the people who want to see the Duggar’s as victims of the situation instead of people reaping the consequences of their bad choices and terrible actions. Afterall they’re of the “tribe.”

  • Justin in Oaklawn, Dallas, TX

TLC didn’t send me $60K this week, either, and somehow I’m managing without asking the public for money. My coping strategy is called “a job”.

  • DesertSun59

Grifters EXTRAORDINAIRE! I guess the televangelical circuit will drum up that loss.

  • ScottChicago

If you would follow me, sell all you have and give to the poor.

  • JCF

Cry me and Xena a river, Duggars…

    • I loved that outfit! Xena for the block!

  • teedofftaxpayer

It’s what the Christians do so well, beg for money-it’s all a con game. One gigantic con game.

  • How are we going to make money off all these kids? We can’t sell them for child porn, have you seen them? I mean, look at them. Even their own brother stopped after 4 before he looked else where.

  • ChadSF

Oh here’s an idea, get a job! A real one just like everyone else. #noshame
