USA Wins Women’s World Cup, Champion Abby Wambach Rushes To Kiss Her Wife

Via SB Nation: “For the first time in her career, Abby Wambach is a World Cup winner. And after the final whistle blew in the United States’ 5-2 win over Japan, she sprinted over to the stands to find her wife, Sarah Huffman, who was sitting in the front row with the rest of the American supporters.”

  • PLAINTOM

    USA! USA! USA!

    • JCF

I don’t usually wave the flag for athletics, but w/ THIS team (so many playing on my team), I make an exception. USA! USA! USA!

  • TampaZeke

And a rainbow flag poster featured prominently, center screen, for much of the shot of the audience celebration.

One “Million” Moms will be demanding a boycott of the next Women’s World Cup. Too much Lesbetyrianism!

    • Todd20036

which will throw all those tebow fans for a loop How can god let a team with lesbians win

      • Cricket

Because she let a team with Tebow lose?

    • Blake Jordan

Who would of guessed there were lesbians in women’s sports…

      • Emma Duncan

I never saw it coming, not even when I played softball.

    • Oscarlating Wildely

‘Love lesbians. Love, love, love the lesbians. From holding their own and helping to hold up the rest of the community, the world can only get better with anything lesbionic.

      • Ginger Snap

I’m an out and proud lezzie lover. Bring it ladies/girls/women/lovers flawless.

        • gaymex

Count me in the lezzie lover group too. Never understood why gay guys I used to know didn’t like lesbians. “Used” to know.,

          • Mikey

I’ve never had issue with anyone, gay or lesbian or trans.
But I HAVE known, in my nearly 40 years of being out of the closet (yes, I came out in my teens) many lesbians who were also “radical” feminists who blamed every evil in the universe on men. So the issue wasn’t disliking lesbians, it was being disliked by lesbians and reacting with a “oh well, screw them, then” attitude for many gay men.
I suspect that all those gay guys you “used to know” had probably had similar experiences.

N.B. please don’t read this to mean I think gay men are blameless, or that all lesbians are to blame for a situation.

Le me give you an example:

In the late 70’s I belonged to an LGBT political action committee. After a very short time, many of the lesbian members decided that they wanted the group to concentrate on women’s issues. There was a great deal of friction, and they ended up leaving the group.
Shortly after these events, I was at an LGBT university party with a friend, who introduced me to his best friend, a lovely lesbian, friendly, intelligent, a real pleasure to chat with. When I mentioned those events at our political action committee, her girlfriend took great offence and started ranting about “typical male bullsh**” and other rather unpleasant things.
So if I hadn’t known any really wonderful women, the experience I had with that one “radical” and unpleasant lesbian could have tarnished the image I had of a LGBT community working toward common goals. I can’t say that I’d ave been all that impressed with lesbians from that experience.

I was lucky, however, in already having a great many lesbian friends a the time. So I knew and understood that they weren’t all “anti-male”.

Anyway, tl:dr, sometimes, the experience of the older generation of gay men with radical feminist lesbians has left scars.

Cheers to the team. Drink up! More are on there way.

    • bambinoitaliano

Yup these people truly showing their patriotism having the sadz on the 4th of July and at USA winning women world soccer. Never been a more confusing time for these pathetic losers.

  • I saw that live. It was adorable. There was another player who later scaled all the way up the wall to embrace what looked like a woman as well so yeah, adorably lesbian celebration.

  • geoffalnutt

The way it should be!! The win! The kiss!! (sigh)

  • DaddyRay

Congratulations! I hope this brings a lots more attention to woman’s soccer

“Wait, DOG made us KEEP ObamaCare, let them GET GayMarried and NOW lets LESBIANS win the WorldCup for us!?!?! Well I never!”

“Yah, and all in like 10 days. It might be time to get a new DOG.”

Article in the LA Times today, about how the Fundies had to swallow and ignore that Ronnie Reagan had been divorced, remarried and even, as Gov of CA, had signed in law No Fault Divorce [which we still have]. But he was their guy in 1980 so they smiled and waved. See, they CAN change!

    • Veylon

They shut up pretty hard about Mormonism after Romney got the nomination. In twenty or thirty or forty years a gay Republican will be big somewhere and the paymasters in the GOP will tell the fundies to roll over on that, too, and they’ll do it.

      • David L. Caster

The fundies will just be over, period.

All the poor bigots will have to totally give up watching/playing soccer…because, now that lesbians play it, it completely ruins the game for all the heteros!

      • Snarkaholic

This is NOT Biblical soccer…the way God intended it: With a bunch of hot, sweaty straight men hugging, and slapping each other on the ass!

  • TampaDink

    WooHoo! USA! USA! USA!
Okay, now someone remind me, is this the sports ball game with the wooden sticks? The oval ball? Is there a hoop? Any hat tricks?
At least I know that my secret girlfriend, Rachel Maddow will be over the moon.

    • eyechart

Yeah, there was a hat trick. Carli Lloyd, who won the Silver Boot, scored the first, second, and fourth goals within 14 minutes, a new record and never done before in a championship game. That third goal was stunning like an Alexander McQueen gown (had to throw in something gay there).

      • David Walker

And she kicks like a girl…because we’re redefining that phrase!

      • TampaDink

I’ll take your word for it. ;-p

    • Paula

The oval ball? Perhaps you are referring to the game played with the animal hide covered prolate spheroid?

      • TampaDink

Prolate? Spheroid? Are you talking doctorese?

        • You may be thinking prolapse. That’s handball.

          • Homo Erectus

            I read it as prostate.

          • TampaDink

            Another good way to play.

          • Ginger Snap

How did we both end up with the same filthy mind?

          • TampaDink

And we wouldn’t have either one of you any other way.

          • Ginger Snap

            Why thank you very much.

          • TampaDink

You are welcome & most deserving as one of my favorite J.M.G.-ers.

          • Ginger Snap

I’m blushing. My Mother always told me to accept a compliment and thank them for it. So thank you TampaDink. She also told me to never say no to a man and always swallow. Well I added the last part for entertainment value on stage. 🙂

          • TampaDink

Your mom has been far more instructional than mine…and at almost 85, I don’t expect too many more pointers. ;-p

          • TampaDink

    • LADY MABELINE

I wonder what kind of cocktail Rachel is going to prepare to celebrate tonight. Maybe a French 75 b/c it has champagne in it.

      • TampaDink

I wonder if she’ll end up taking a week of vacation to celebrate.

        • LADY MABELINE

Only as long as they get Steve Kornacki to sit in for her. He is my secret anchor crush at the moment.

          • Prixator

          • TampaDink

            He is. He really is.

          • Prixator

I think he was made for that word! (Or, that word was made for him? I dunno, he is just wonderful!)

          • TampaDink

You and me both. My crush on Rachel isn’t really that big of a secret. She & Susan might not know but everyone from my mom to my long suffering spousal substitute is well aware. As for Steve, no one knows how I often imagine doing naughty things with that man. Well, no one but those who read this comment.

    • SockMikey

Yeah, I noticed Rachel telling us “you will watch it on Sunday” during her broadcasts. 🙂

  • eyechart

I was not expecting such as offensive onslaught right from the start. The third goal Carli Lloyd scored from the midfield line was amazing. I am so happy for the team (yeah, even Hope Solo), and Abby is likely to be the best athlete ever born in Rochester.
On the eye candy level, Mark Sampson (England’s coach) was cute, and John Herdman (Canada’s coach) looked SO good in his tight shirts.

Outsports – 15 out players and 2 coaches at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. http://www.outsports.com/2015/5/31/8696237/lesbian-gay-women-world-cup

Near sell-out crowd – 53,341 – and the TV announcer guessed 45,000 were Americans! Smoky inside BC Place Stadium from B.C.’s drought-driven forest fires. When you win, you probably don’t even notice the terrible air quality. Congrats.

  • Bruno

So glad to see more and more athletes not care what the world thinks of them and their loved ones. It’s too bad so many do care, though. A friend of mine just posted a link to a homily against SSM that saddened me deeply. Still so much work to do.

    • Talisman

Then that person is not a friend. End the relationship and move one.

Life is too short to spend with people that do not support you.

      • Bruno

In a dialogue with her now. It wasn’t like major fire and brimstone stuff, and I do want her to understand what I found offensive. But I’m certainly considering ending the friendship. I just have no room for disrespect in my life anymore, even if that wasn’t the intention.

        • StraightGrandmother

          I agree with you.

        • gaymex

Bruno…you DO NOT need people like that in your life. Such people can create misery over nothing.

          • Sporkfighter

Cut off the friendship or turn the friend to the light side … that’s a judgement call Bruno has to make.

I’m waiting for Huckleberry Clown to condemn the USA Team for winning since they won with Lesbians. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

    • Homo Erectus

Something on the order of: “I wonder how much higher the score would have been if real Christian women had been on the team instead of these pagan lesbos…these atheistic half-men. They’re just like the testosterone injecting women the Russians always use. Heathens. End times.”

  • teedofftaxpayer

As a strong supporter of the Women’s and Men’s National Soccer team, I’m proud they won and by such a number of goals. GO USA!!!

  • LADY MABELINE

Hey 2 Dried Up Hags: Get used to this type of celebrating on your TVs from now into the future. The closet door is wide open. HAHAHA.’

  • Elliott

God, I still cry at all these things. Proposals, kisses, hugs. Jeez, O still cry like I’m watching Joy Luck Club for the first time. Like a big baby. And I love it.

    • Talisman

For me, Joy Luck Club was one of those experiences watching a movie where the whole world fell away. Yes, I watched it on VHS, but still…it was, for lack of a better word, magical.

I see you. I see you

      • Treg Brown

Oh man! My mom forced me to watch to watch that movie when I was about 13-14, and it was awesome. I’ve seen it a few times since, and I get why she wanted me to watch it with her (she doesn’t have any daughters but I guess I’ll do).

      • gaymex

Thanks for that reminder. I need to remember where I filed it so I can watch it again. Great movie.

  • Nic Peterson

Missed the whole darn thing on a trans – Pac flight but so happy for our girls!

Take a well deserved world-wide bow, Team USA! I doubt many fundies were praying for you, not that you needed any of that….

    • JCF

Transgender people certainly DO need their own PAC. ;-p

  • Robert Schaaf

A humble request: If anyone sees any right-wing sadz over this kiss, please post links.

“Champion Abby Wambach Rushes to Kiss Her Wife” Great JMG headline caption but if you were watching and not in a lesbian household like our, you’d never know because Fox Sports 1 certainly didn’t caption that motion as Wambach kissing her wife. Still…we knew.

  • Avenger280

    Total confession… I f’d up…. I thought the game started an hour later at 7pm EMT.. 🙁
Arrived home JUST in time to see the last 30 mins……USA… USA.

  • Avenger280

I was totally pissed that the FUX Sports announcers watched Abby jump up into
the stands to kiss her wife and said NOTHING….. had she been a
straight male at the Super Bowl or the World Series it would have (no doubt) been totally different 🙁

  • KnownDonorDad

Via Outsports, “The world’s most publicly out soccer team just won the World Cup!”

“The U.S. team is set to take home US$2 million from FIFA after winning at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium.”

“But it’s also $33 million less (that’s 94 per cent) than Germany received for winning last year’s men’s World Cup. And it’s $6 million less than the worst teams received at that tournament, a Reuters report shows.” http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/07/06/womens-world-cup-prize-money-fifa_n_7737544.html

HuffPo also talks about the artificial turf issue which Robbie Rogers took a public stand against. These are clearly issues of discrimination that should not be tolerated. They may not be LGBT issues per se but the out players (and the closeted players) have provided an inspiration to the lesbian and gay supporters of their teams and deserve to be treated better.
