TEXAS: Haters Rally For County Clerk Who Won’t Issue Same-Sex Marriage Licenses

  • TommyTune

Oh, the victimhood of aggrieved southern-fried Christians! Where is the world’s smallest violin so I can play the world’s saddest song on it?

    • Bill

Aren’t they all leaving to go to “other parts” of the world, where they will be loved and accepted.
I do hope they leave behind some of their BBQ Recipes.
AS for SONGS…….”Onward Christian Soldier” comes to mind as they board their various forms of transportation.

    • bambinoitaliano

I fried ma chritian with ma Crisco oil, how about you?
      https://youtu.be/qjEPyZ8Hc-4

      • TommyTune

I prefer Crisco for other uses, myself. I always wish one of the character MInnie’s lines from the book and movie “The Help” would have been:

“Crisco ain’t just for fryin’. You ever get a sticky something stuck in your hair, like gum? That’s right, Crisco…shoot, I seen ladies rub it on they eyes and on they husband’s scaly feet. (and here’s the line I would have added) your husband wanna fuck you up the ass? That’s right, Crisco!”

        • Todd20036

Phooey. I only use Crisco for it’s intended purpose… fisting.

          • TommyTune

You are too butch for me!

          • Six Pins Delores

            Such a traditionalist.

      • Bj Lincoln

When I was young, I saw a spot where a man took a gob of butter and a gob of Crisco and put them on the noses of 2 people. The butter melted and the Crisco didn’t. He looked at the camera and said “Crisco doesn’t melt at body temperature, the butter does. What do you want inside of you?”. I have never used it since.

        • Lumpy Gaga

Don’t you want something that withstands body heat?

Wait, this guy wasn’t talking about anal sex, eh?

      • BudClark

        Naw. Gotta use pure LARD.

How can you tell a gay Klan member: Egyptian cotton, Italian made with 800 thread count.

    • bkmn

      They are in Hood County.

      • What are the chances that Hood County is named for a Confederate General? Let’s find out.

The county is named for John Bell Hood, a Confederate lieutenant general and the commander of Hood’s Texas Brigade.

While he’s there, perhaps Jonathan Saenz can witness the marriage of his ex-wife to a woman.

    • People4Humanity

      They didn’t invite him.

  • bryan

There seem to be 10’s of people at the rally : I guess that’s the problem with people being there ‘in spirit’ : Spirits being hard to differentiate from absolutely nothing.

    • TommyTune

Especially when it’s 110 degrees in the shade.

      • Bryan

It’s not the heat, it’s the humanity.

They hadn’t already? LOL. Funny how the only District Court that’s not doing anything is Kansas.

  • bambinoitaliano

There can’t tell the difference between a good employee from the bad employee. You wonder why so many asshats been elected to the congress. Democracy only works if the citizens possess an iota of intelligence to differentiate and separate the real issues. These people are pushing me to subscribe the believe of not all humans are created equal and therefore they should not be allow to vote and let me make the decision for them.

  • Lakeview Bob

Gee, what happens when some pedophile says his religion allows diddling young girls like a certain Duggar. Is he allowed to disobey the law? Can we be selective about what laws we choose to obey?

    • wmforr

      Worked for Joseph Smith.

      • David L. Caster

Not exactly. He was shot and killed before the LDS church was really established.

        • Bad Tom

          So, it worked for awhile.

    • TreGibbs

      Obviously.

    • Six Pins Delores

HEY MISTER. There are no Duggars in that photo. Come to think of it, the Duggars would make excellent catholic hierarchy.

  • PeterC

When in church, you can work full time for your god.
When in the court house you are Paid to work full time for “the people”.
    Still confused?

    • Chucktech

Yes, she is. You’ll need to run that by her a couple or dozen more times…

  • Ninja0980

    Guess what Kate?
When you get sued and end up losing, these haters aren’t going to be the ones paying the legal bills, you are.

    • David Walker

These haters aren’t going to be anywhere near you.

  • GayOldLady

Trailways must keep mighty busy hauling all 40 of those gay haters between Alabama & Texas.

    • Gustav2

Not even enough people to be called a congregation. lol

  • Sam_Handwich

I guess this would make sense if pushing papers in a government office were an exercise of religion.

    But it ain’t.

    • TommyTune

Funny how there’s never been a peep of disapproval from Christian county clerks of all those couples who have been divorced and remarried, considering, you know, that the Bible punishes divorce with death.

      • Yep, and when these cases go to court, that is exactly what they are going to be asked. As I’ve said before, they think they have this neat nuclear option now, but it’s really an Acme dynamite kit that is going to blow up in their face.

        • bkmn

And hit them in their retirement fund.

          • Six Pins Delores

If there is justice, that old bag soon to retire anyway future profiteer from a GoFundMe scumbag Linda Barnette will enjoy a short retirement.

          • David Walker

I love that her name is Katie Lang. How different from K. D. Lang could this woman be?

          • Six Pins Delores

Not sure. With luck soon Katie will be diagnosed with rig mortise so we can make the distinction.

        • GayEGO

Well gol durn it! Idnt no! :>)

      • GayEGO

Shhhhhh! We don’t talk about that at the office.

    • Strepsi

      BOOM

    • MarkOH

Exactly. My guess is that they would not be real happy if a government employee refused to serve them for whatever reason.

    • Gustav2

      It ain’t even exercise.

    • gaylib

Tell me about it. I do it every day.

      • Lumpy Gaga

You’re asserting you’ve NEVER invoked the Lord’s name during your labors?

        • YHWH doesn’t exactly fall trippingly from the tongue. . .

    • You’re right, it’s not an exercise of religion.

Just listened to the local news during dinner and they were emphasizing the fact that she was foisting her own personal religious beliefs on her entire office. There are clerks in Hood County who want to issue licenses and she was going to force her religious beliefs on them and not allow them to issue. Good thing Katie’s emails were requested!

    • GayEGO

      Well said!

  • dcurlee

Please explain to your neighbors why their taxes are going up but the lawsuits you have created. Better yet just fire her for not doing her job end of story then they can create a go fund me page

  • Michael Hampton

Someone should teach them that discrimination is in no way a part of their 1st Amendment rights to free exercise of religion. It wasn’t in the 50’s. It’s not now.

    • Michael Hampton

i would tell them, but they blocked me on twitter.

      • Strepsi

honey that’s a badge of honor.

  • DutchBoy74

I’m sure there are plenty of churches that need nice spiteful secretaries that will fully support her freedoms.

No one held her to stay at a place she no longer agreed to stay at.

    Also fuck theocrats.

  • David in Palm Springs

City hall isn’t a church. You lose.

    • John30013

Amen, brother. And paper pushing isn’t an exercise of religion.

      • Cuberly

        Ha…well then there’s slapping.

  • Michael Smith

Do your job or find work that better suits your religious beliefs.

  • bkmn

You dispense pieces of paper for civil recognition of marriages. What part of that process involves religion?

    • Chucktech

They just can’t help it. Every goddam thing they do is for Jeezy, or is in Jeezy’s name, or Jeezy this or Jeezy that. It really is a psychotic, deep seated mental affliction.

      • bkmn

Almost like they are part of a cult or something.

  • wmforr

I see that “A man shall join to his wife” sign, and knowing the context in which Jesus said it (as obviously these saintly Christians can’t be bothered to check), I can only assume they are fighting for the right of clerks to refuse to give marriage licenses to divorced people.

  • bambinoitaliano

Someone with the knowledge of the bible should start making a mocumentary and ask these people questions from the bible. I doubt these folks knows more than three pages of what’s written in there.

  • another_steve

I’m as jaded and as cynical as anyone reading here… but I can’t quite figure out what their ultimate goal is.

Is it to get the Supreme Court to say “Oh, sorry. We fucked up. We change our mind,” or is it something even more demented and sinister than that?

Will someone please help me out here?

    • Bruno

Step 1: Win the religious freedom to refuse service to any gay couple seeking a license.
Step 2: Convince clerks across the country, in droves, that they should stop issuing licenses to gay couples.
Step 3: Pass nuisance laws to further curtail marriage rights for gay couples.

Eventually, gay couples won’t be able to get married anywhere! Sounds logical, no?

      • another_steve

A logical analysis of the insanity, Bruno. Thanks.

Thank heavens for the florist and catering industries here in the States, however.

They will ensure that the 3-step horror program you sumise never sees the light of day.

    • Chucktech

This is nothing more than a public display of pseudo piety. This god besotted clerk gets to puff up and quack about how godly she is or how holier-than-thou she is, but of course, she’s just another shrill, shrieking, lying fraud for jesus.

    • noni

It’s to continue the defamation of the LGBT Community so that the citizenry will always be suspicious of them. Always have to be guarded against those gay people, they’re always wanting to buy a cake, get their picture taken, buy hardware, eat some pizza, buy some flowers, so be very suspicious of them.

      • Six Pins Delores

        “Those people love Coke.” LOL!
        Nicely stated noni!

  • JT

Wow. Big turnout. I thought there were more bigots in Texas than that.

    • Rebecca Gardner

Old, White, Bigots are literally a dying breed. Pretty soon 3 people showing up will be considered a gigantic crowd.

    • kevin vincent

That one pic is crazy there looks like there is barely neven 20 people there…. Is THIS their big rally? For all the talk the anti ga response has been pathetic IRL

  • unsavedheathen

Somebody’s gonna find the Virgin’s face in a tortilla or a road apple and this town will turn into a shrine for these people.

    • another_steve

The ultimate nightmare for them is that someone posts on YouTube a video of a smiling Jesus or a smiling Virgin Mary that appeared on the tablecloth in the catering hall where two gay guys were celebrating their marriage.

Two million views in 24 hours, I assure you.

  • delk

So what does #1A stand for?

    Number One Asshole?

    • Rebecca Gardner

They are trying to be clever. #1A probably stands for 1st Amendment. Yet, with everything the right wing mind creates that attempts to be clever, sarcastic, or satirical they fail miserably because theirs is a mind formed by fear, hate, and authority. Such things leave no room for curiosity, creativity, or a willingness to learn new things.

      • Bryan

Or no room for the idea that Texas (and Kansas) families need the legal protection marriage provides to the parents NOW.

She wants to take a stand against that? Well bless her courageous heart.

  • geoffalnutt

What part of the “Public” in “Public Servant” don’t you understand?

  • delk

God also created printers capable of larger than 8.5 X 11 prints.

Or were you going for that wide border look?

  • bkmn

I see someone took a Microsoft Office basic course and used that knowledge to make her sign.

    • studd55

She probably used her County and taxpayer issued computer and printer to make it.

  • Phaius

I tweeted TXvalues to ask if they would support the religious liberty of a Catholic to refuse to grant marriage licenses to divorcees and adulterers. So far, no response!

    • Phaius

Also! I just tweeted them to ask as I grew up Roman Catholic if I could also refuse a marriage license to Protestants because technically they fall under heretical teachings. 😀

    • Rebecca Gardner

They never respond to my tweets either. They can’t hear them from inside their echo chamber.

      • Phaius

The door is shut pretty hard on that echo chamber of theirs!

I don’t believe they’ll respond, but it’s fun to put that out there.

        • Rebecca Gardner

It is. It’s like hovering a finger 1mm away from them and repeating, “I’m not touching you!” LOL

    • Todd20036

      • Octavio

Yup. The problem with double negatives in English. Always a problem for those who never paid attention in 2nd grade. :-/

        • GC

“… but a double positive never expresses a negative.”

          “Yeah, right.”

  • JT

    “God created male and female.”

“Yes, he created people who are gay, transgendered and intersex and all the colors of the rainbow.”

    • GC

Any god who’d create humans in all our diversity, and proceed to tell some of us, “No, you may never have sex with consenting peers who attract you” and “No, you may never have the kind of deep, intimate relationships straight people take for granted” would be an utter asshole, unworthy of any respect or worship.

    • Lumpy Gaga

“God created hot and not. It’s against my religion to let them marry each other.”

  • Dave

Once upon a time, they imposed their will everywhere, banning us from marriage from Hawaii to California to Maine. And now, their grand empire is reduced to a clerk’s office in one county in Texas. Maybe they can set up a bunker there.

  • ScottJL

You are free to practice your #religiousfreedom in your church, your home, and even shout it off the top of a mountain. But you’re not free to practice in a place paid for with #mytaxdollars. Why is this so hard for people to understand?

  • amboy00

What cowards. Last Friday, I was at the Dallas court house and no protester was in sight.

A leading Iranian actor has apologised after coming under pressure over a tweet he posted in support of a historic US supreme court ruling on gay marriage.

Bahram Radan, who is known as the Iranian Brad Pitt, created
controversy in the country when his tweet hailed a verdict last week which made same-sex marriage a legal right across the entirety of the US. Homosexuality remains a taboo subject inside the Islamic republic and is punishable by death.

This is the kind of country the “religious freedom” people want to have here.

    • Rebecca Gardner

Yes, they actively seek the Zombie Jesus version of Sharia law.

    • Six Pins Delores

Yes. Cultist worship of the dead folk are like that.

    • fred

“Iranian Brad Pitt” sounds pretty hot.

      • People4Humanity

I recall a quote from my youth, comparing the @ss of a Persian boy to two sweet melons …

        • JT

There’s the Turkish proverb: “A woman for duty / A boy for pleasure / But a melon for ecstasy.”

    • ClevelandJim

Hmm, Iranian Brad Pitt kinda fits…

      • Cuberly

        Dayum!

          • Gene

In Iran, his family could have been hurt for what he said….I wish he had not felt he had to take it back, but, its not like here…or pretty much any truly civilized nation.
As per the Iranian Brad Pitt…hell, Pitt never looked THAT good

          • Six Pins Delores

Surely he is wealthy enough to have moved (or bribe) his loved ones out of harms way.

  • MDB

    Whining, sanctimonious COWARDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Freeman

Shouldn’t public officials be held to a higher standard and actually have to prove that their religious strictures dictate such a gross dereliction of duty?

    • noni

Sadly the “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” apparently gives the “religious” freedom to do anything and then simply say “you are prohibiting my free exercise”. Anything in this case is doing their job as required by their employer.

Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging thef reedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

  • Mike in Texas

    “Hood” County. Seems appropriate.

    • Mike in Texas

Oops … Sorry for the duplicate. I completely forgot I had posted it further down the thread. I think this is one of those Eldergay Moments.

      • noni

That pic can’t be repeated enough.

  • fred

Many, many years ago, I remember my Social Studies teachers (in Texas) drilling it into me that “my rights end at the tip of my nose.” I’ve always tried to live by that. I do not have the right to impose my beliefs on anyone. Likewise, they do not have the right to impose their beliefs on me.

I also recall that “rights” were associated with things like religious belief, speech, due process, etc.; basically my person, my beliefs/thoughts, and my expressions of same. I don’t ever remember being taught that one has an inalienable right to own and operate a business as he sees fit.

That lesson seems to have been lost on a lot of these nutbags. Do they even teach Social Studies anymore?

Anyway, the bottom line is when they start carting off ministers for refusing to officiate a same-sex wedding, then you can scream about your rights. And I’ll be right next to you screaming just as loudly in your defense. Until then, shut the fuck up.

    • Mike in Texas

Let me put it this way. The governor-appointed school book commission has required that history books list Moses as a founding father of the US.

      • gaymex

I thought you were joking until I googled it. Damn!

        • Octavio

Yup. Texas has become “The Jeebuz State.” Get out while you still can.

      • fred

Yeah it’s disgraceful what has happened to this state. We used to be known for good roads and good schools. Now we have neither thanks to the GOP idiots in Austin.

        • William

Hey, we got a bunch of nice, empty toll roads!

    • J̶a̶l̶a̶p̶e̶ñJoe Smithson

I’m chiming in over there, but OMG this one. I feel like the scene in The Birdcage where Starina is trying to deal with the dolt who can’t dance and is chewing gum because gum helps him think and Starina says “Honey, you are wasting your gum.”

      • Lumpy Gaga

That movie (and Robin WIlliams’ performance) was the only non-sacred cow in the media after his death. Loved it. Still do. There’s a Hollywood conspiracy against Elaine May.

        Fisher Island!!

        • J̶a̶l̶a̶p̶e̶ñJoe Smithson

Amazing how the religious nutter butters see this in reverse. Public accommodation laws and anti discrimination laws protect the customer in the transaction and prevent discrimination. If these yokels want to discriminate, then convert to a private non profit 501 (c) 3 org or better yet, just not open a business in the first place if your business model includes not treating all people equally or would create scenarios that would violate your personal beliefs.

    • Stev84

Tell her that nobody wants to gay marry her or even invite her to their gay wedding, so she isn’t required to participate in anything.

  • billbear1961

When, pray, do you plan to start to turn away the two-faced divorced Christers, breaking their Saviour’s SACRED RULE on divorce, and desirous of second or third ADULTEROUS–his word–marriages?

    Oh, no plans for that?

Of course not, HYPOCRITES–you get to pick and choose what to follow and what to ignore and VIOLATE.

Try getting this through your incredibly THICK SKULLS–even if you ARE allowed to single out one group to discriminate against, which I think highly unlikely–even if people end up being obliged to travel some to get married–people WILL marry, nonetheless, and those marriages WILL be recognized.

In other words, you are WASTING your time: M.E. is the Law of the Land, no matter how much you whine about it or try to interfere.

    • Mike in Texas

I like it when you are passionate about your outrage.

      • billbear1961

My analyst always said I had two settings, Mike: calm and runaway train.

I will listen to a reasonable argument, but when people of obvious bad faith resort to nothing but lies and outrageous double standards and seek to impose on others what they would NEVER tolerate imposed on THEM, I simply SNAP.

    • billbear1961

Where are the biblical quotes against divorce and that order slaves to obey their masters, that let fathers SELL their daughters and parents put unruly children to DEATH??

Where is the order to STONE adulterers?

By the way, Saenz, your wife STILL left you for a woman.

AND they can get married now–if they haven’t already–right there, in TEXAS!

  • Bill T.

I’m assuming that 1A rights in Texas apply to White Trash only.

  • Happy Dance

Who’s the queen holding the “protect religious freedom” sign? Girlfriend ain’t foolin’ no one…except maybe herself! (Is she banging the old broad?) LOL

    • jmax

He looks like a man who was a member of the church I attended as a child. He was the first overtly effeminate man I ever knew, worked as a nurse, and in his early 30’s married a spinster school teacher who was at least 20 years his senior. Even as a kid, I knew there was something fishy going on.

      • noni

There’s always something fishy in heterosexual relationships.

        • Octavio

Ewwwwww . . . you went there! LOL!

      • Happy Dance

The old bait and switch. I hope it’s not mommy! LOL poor thing!

A breakdown of Texas counties not in compliance as of yesterday from Esquire: http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/news/a36118/texas-counties-not-issuing-same-sex-marriage-licenses/

  • Mike_Bernard

Katie Lang…not to be mixed up with k.d. lang, y’know.

    • William

When I heard the story on the TV news, I was confused for a few seconds.

    • Chucktech

Different Lang singing a MUCH different tune.

      • Lumpy Gaga

        “Constant Craving”?

    • Lumpy Gaga

Still gonna giggle. Until the day I die. (Or forget about the clerk and her drama.)

  • gaymex

What are they rallying for? She said she was quitting because she couldn’t do her job.

    • I think that is one of the other Administrivia Martyrs.

      • gaymex

Sorry, I get confused. So many martyrs, so little time.

  • Bj Lincoln

FUCK her. She needs to be fired.

    • noni

Rowan County (Kenfucky) Clerk Kim Davis is even more sickening if that is even possible.

Listen to her slobbering and blubbering about her God and her religious freedom. Scroll down to see the pathetic video of her “talking”. She’s a public official and won’t even appear on camera and instead talks on the phone.

      http://www.whas11.com/story/news/local/2015/06/30/ky-clerk-defends-decision-to-decline-marriage-licenses/29538209/

      • Bj Lincoln

That was pathetic. She needs to leave. This is a government job paid for by everyone’s taxes, including the very people she is turning away both str8 and gay.If she refuses to do her job she needs to leave. That is the law.

      • Lumpy Gaga

Next thing you know, they’ll be issuing dog licenses to cats. BECAUSE WORDS HAVE NO MEANING!!!!

      • RoFaWh

        What she needs to hear:

Honey, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

    • Stev84

I don’t think clerks can actually be fired. For some insane reason it’s an elected position. Which is explains why so many clerks are such idiots. America has a really nasty habit of directly electing purely administrative municipal positions. It makes no sense whatsoever and just lets people develop an inflated ego.

  • PLAINTOM

Memo to County Clerk : Render unto Caesar ! By the way, you do realize you actually CHOSE to work for Caesar ?

    • Lumpy Gaga

Tomorrow’s payday. What if Caesar decides not to render unto your bank???

      • PLAINTOM

By the way clerk believes , since Katie thinks she is doing God’s work then god should provide the paycheck 🙂

Final meeting of the Fail Committee?

    • Steven Leahy

He/she needs to consult with the fucking unemployment line. Of course, if it were my say, it would be “DECLINED!”

      • Bruno

It’s a she. Almost every objecting county clerk I’m seeing is a woman. I had no idea how many evil women have become county clerks.

        • Steven Leahy

LOL sorry, didn’t read the article in the link, didn’t feel the need to. Edited above. Just seems this is such a broken record since they all sound exactly the same.

          • Bruno

Yeah, male or female, they’re all regurgitating the same B.S. I think quite a few of the clerks in Alabama are males. Might tell us something in particular about that state.

        • Octavio

County Clerk — or similar office — is the most commonly held public office by women. On the face of it this would appear to be a positive thing. But it’s not the most taxing of public offices and frequently serves as an easy ride position for “the little woman” married to a male in the community who has elevated power and money. Too bad. Clerks like Katie Lang give all women a bad name.

          • noni

Women are allowed to be in this position because the word “clerk” is in the title. It is similar to “receptionist” and “secretary”. If it had a different title, doughy white men wouldn’t allow women to be employed in the position.

          • Bruno

Kind of what I was thinking too.

          • Octavio

            County Ninja, perhaps? 🙂

          • Lumpy Gaga

“Katie Lang” (i.e. KD Lang) makes me giggle as much as a dick reference, no matter how many times I see it.

    • billbear1961

The Almighty might suggest she take a close look at her bank account.

    • Lumpy Gaga

God really should make her Outlook calendar public. It would make scheduling the conference calls soooo much easier. I mean, you get everyone to agree to a date and time, then God’s all, “No, can’t make it.”

      Back to square 1.

  • CERN physicist, NFL quarterback and piano tuner are all very good, well-paying jobs for which I am completely unqualified. If your job is to help people get married and you won’t do it, you simply need to find a new job for which you are qualified. Apparently, thanks in part to a Democratic administration, there are plenty of jobs to be had.

    • Igby

      Bravo!

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

If you don’t want to do your job, resign and let someone more professional do it. Simple.

More proof that religion is concentrated evil.

People are good despite their religion, not because of it.

These haters held rally after rally after rally, and the only thing that effort got them was legal gay marriage nationwide. You’d think that these dummies would finally get it that when it comes to law and the courts, rallies don’t matter jack shit. But rally away. Rally, rally. Really.

So where is our side protesting and where is Lamda Legal? Getting tired of seeing their side and not ours out there!

Lamda Legal had no idea that any clerk in Texas would refuse.

      lol

Hood County Clerk Katie Lang kicks gay couple out as they ask to get a marriage license.

The excuse she is using is that her office doesn’t have the proper application forms. Yet the attorneys for the gay couple had provided her a form which was printed off a website that is available to all TX county clerks.

Gay Couple to Sue Hood County Clerk Over Marriage License

Attorneys for a same-sex couple are preparing to sue Hood County Clerk Katie Lang after the couple was unable to obtain a marriage license.

Two Austin attorneys representing Jim Cato and Joe Stapleton, who have been together for 27 years, sent a letter to Lang on Thursday demanding that her office issue the couple a marriage license by the end of the business day or risk being sued in federal court Monday morning.

As of Thursday evening, the couple was unable to obtain a marriage license from the county, so attorney Jan Soifer confirmed that they would move forward with filing suit.

My parents used to live in Hood County, just outside of Granbury. I’m not the least bit surprised by this.

  • teedofftaxpayer

Let them collect money to pay her lawsuits she’s going to lose. A government employee cannot let their religion interfere with her Public Service job. If you want to practice what you believe, more power to you but do it at a religious business.

  • Religious Freedom: To believe what you want without government interference or adherence as the government can neither ban or embrace any religion. What it does not mean: you can do what you want without government interference. As a county clerk, you are a member of, wait for it, the government! You can’t, legally, have a religion as part of your job. When you are off the clock, you are your own person. Believe in Elrond Da Boyfucker for all anyone cares. When on the clock, you are just a cog in the machine that says “religion, what religion, we don’t need no stinkin’ religions!”

  • Blake Jordan

Fire her, and employ someone who will do the job… PROBLEM SOLVED!

  • furyatx

If you are so big on protecting religious freedoms… Then be prepared to protect all of them especially the ones that are not your particular flavor.

  • rednekokie

Just another so-called “public servant” who won’t (or can’t) do his/her job.
Time to go and let someone have the job who will.
This applies to all who put themselves into this situation. You got the job, you does the work — else, scram! You shouldn’t be paid for not doing your work.

  • GayEGO

Someone needs to tell them what Religious Freedom is. They can choose the religion and believe within that religion, they cannot force those beliefs outside that religion. Being that this is a civil, non-religious issue and the clerks work for a civil institution, they must serve the Texas taxpaying citizens and issue civil marriage license. If they refuse to do so they must quit or be fired.
