Tucker Carlson Attacks Newspaper Editor Who Doesn’t Want Anti-Gay Columns

  • Sam_Handwich

    why bother going on Fox?

    • Lakeview Bob

I agree. Why did this fool even try to defend himself against Tucker Carlson? Frankly I don’t feel sorry for him.

      • parachihuahua

Sometimes you just have to stand up to the bully so that the bully knows you don’t agree and everyone else knows you don’t agree. Sometimes ignoring the bully doesn’t help change the conversation.

  • JT

It’s hard to believe Schmucker Carlson could destroy his way out of a paper bag. Go have another frozen tv dinner and use your best assets.

  • Craig S

Tucker is such a repressed asshole. He starts the piece with a potentially valid free speech comment that I agree with — why not let people dissent? But he switches to Fox-mode by immediately playing the victim and insulting his guest.

  • Gustav2

The editor is not the government censoring free speech. Know your pocket constitution, asshole.

    • Corey

The bigger question I have is at what point do we as gay people stop re-publishing this tripe? Newspapers stop publishing racists editorials after the Civil Rights era. They also stop publishing anti-miscegenation crap in newspapers after Loving v. Virginia.

      • Reality.Bites

I don’t do any publishing myself.

Just like there are publications and organizations that track racist and Nazi activities, there are some that track anti-gay activities. This is one of them. You’re free not to read it if that’s not what interests you.

      • Gustav2

        Sun Tzu:
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

        • Corey

I think we know our enemy pretty well by now. We know all their arguments because we have heard them since the inception of the gay rights movement. It is getting tired and old unless its indeed a concrete battle such as ENDA. There is also battle fatigue and short attention span. Sun Tzu: “Choose your battles wisely.”

          • Gustav2

The next battles will be individual states’ RFRA’s. There will be no national ENDA until after the presidential election…if then. We still will have a Republican House.

          • truthy

            Bravo

          • truthy

As a hated minority we are not safe until we are legally protected – in the same way religion fought to be protected under employment law

      • shawnthesheep

You have failed to recognize the important role folks like Joe play in highlighting the hypocrisy and bigotry of these hateful losers. It’s hard for these bigots to pretend like they are reasonable and rational when blogs like this one are using their own words against them.

      • Todd20036

Cockroaches hate the light. It’s why they lose in the marriage issue and in the ex-gay therapy issue when people read what they are all about.

        • Corey

I agree and marriage equality issue has been won – big time. Exposing hypocrites helped in the fight. The page was turned when editors stop publishing race baiting editorials and articles for Black America’s civil rights. When will the time come for gay rights?

          • truthy

We are not legally protected class yet – then it stops a bit more

      • DN

I think part of the reason we keep re-publishing it is to keep tabs on their side. Just like 1964 didn’t end racism, 2015 won’t end anti-gay nonsense either.

Now that their side is starting to run out of legal ways to keep us down, I expect them to start investigating illegal ways. Violent ways. If that happens (and obviously I hope it doesn’t), we need to know the dark hearts that raised up that violence.

  • oikos

    🙂

    • Jonty Coppersmith

Sacred Heart? Your avatar is sac-religious. LOL, I love it!

  • Steverino

Tuckunder used to be a young fogie, now his schtick is just tired.

  • Kelly Lape

Carlson frames his questions with falsehoods, then attacks his guest with misleading questions. What a complete asshole. He is the perfect Fox Host.

    • Clive Johnson

Carlson is instinctively intellectually dishonest. He can’t help himself. John Stossel–the most dishonest man in journalism–is even given a run for his money.

  • Blake Jordan

As someone who was raised outside of religion, and a South African, I think I know more about the bible, and the US constitution than the majority of American christianists…

    • Reality.Bites

Sure – but so do at least 9 eggs out of a carton holding a dozen.

      • Blake Jordan

So I am as informed as 75% of eggs, is that good or bad?

        • Reality.Bites

You’re probably far MORE informed than 100% of eggs. I was just saying that being more informed than the majority of American christianists isn’t really all that much of an accomplishment.

          • Joe knows who I am.

To sum up, especially when it involves religion, twice nothing is still nothing.

  • Rick

    Smarmatron

  • Traxley Launderette

I still can’t help but think of him as that spoiled rotten little rich boy raised by narcissistic parents who dress the kid in overpriced bow ties and drag him out to dinner at chic restaurants. He’s ignored throughout the meal, and denied dessert because he didn’t eat all his foie gras, resulting in him throwing a hysterical, screaming tantrum.

And thirty-five years later things haven’t changed much.

    • bkmn

Remove the bow tie and it sounds a lot like Todd Starnes too.

      • Todd20036

And Todd would have eaten all the fois gras, too.

        • popebuck1

And all the crackers. And three or four refills of the bread basket.

  • Ninja0980

Funny, I thought businesses had the right to do what they see fit.
I guess that only applies when discriminating against certain groups.

  • Michael Smith

I suspect that if the editor published a newspaper that only printed anti-gay speech the right would find that decision protected by the First Amendment.

    • Octavio

You mean a “media” source like World Net Daily? Gosh.

  • guest

Freedom of the press belongs to the man who owns the press. If you don’t like it, Tucker, go buy your own press

    • olandp

He did, his blog The Daily Caller. I wonder who sets the editorial policy for his blog.

  • Michael Rush

fox said the grapes were sour .

  • Octavio

I’m so relieved to know that Tucker Carlson is better than all of us and is looking out for our elitism. I can now sleep at night. 🙂

  • Mark

Would he be attacking if the editor had said no anti-christian columns?

    • Fyva Prold

      Or no anti-miscegenation columns?

    • Chucktech

Problem is that there wouldn’t BE any anti christian op-eds. (And if there were, they probably wouldn’t be published.)

    • unsavedheathen

Or columns attacking men who had sold their souls for fame and fortune?

  • SockMikey

Daily Caller and Fox are just so fair in their editorial choices and coverage that it gives Carlson Tucker the ability to feign moral outrage.

    Yeah, right…. 🙂

    ..

  • TexPlant

the interviewer was a total dick

  • delk
  • KDKNYC

They should know all about that. Fox “news” won a supreme court case where the news anchors got fired for refusing to lie about a story that was unflattering to Monsanto–the gist of the ruling being that the organization can tell the reporters what to say and what not to say, even if they are telling them to lie. That, too, falls under the First Amendment.

So Tucker is talking out of his ass in this one.

  • 2patricius2

Tucker finds refusing to publish antigay invective abhorrent. Of course, newspapers and television networks are not required to publish or air views with which they disagree. But apparently Tucker doesn’t realize that.

  • DN

“President Obama, in your own words, why are you a terrorist who hates America?”

  • justmeeeee

Oh, please, Miss Carlson, just shut the fuck up.

  • BaddogLtd

Apologies to Francine Fishpaw but this is what every Fox viewing household must look like these days http://33.media.tumblr.com/899641bce07d61ad6a24d2d11e902434/tumblr_nelh0uJHqz1r81kteo1_500.gif

  • Ben in Oakland

The first photo wasn’t the one I wanted, but it will do.

  • SophieCT

It’s not a free speech issue if the government doesn’t own the paper. Just. sayin’

  • Gerry Fisher

A true harbinger: Overtly homophobic speech no longer tolerated, never mind welcomed, in the public square. You hear that, Maggie? I *love* it.

  • ColdCountry

People of good will – and intelligence – who want to debate….

    *snerk*

  • James

Homophobia, racism, sexism and anti-Semitism are all bigotry and they should all be equally unacceptable. If your paper wouldn’t print racist screeds it shouldn’t print homophobic ones either.

  • SFHarry

How ironic, a Fox News host getting angry that a media outlet won’t allow views that oppose their own.

  • I’m so sick of hyperbolic bullshit language. “Tucker Carlson DESTROYS Editor”. Oh, really. I hope someone called the police. He better hope it wasn’t a death penalty state.

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

Tucker, there is a typo on your Birth certificate, your parents wanted to call you FUCKER

  • 2karmanot

    Pucker Carlson: STFU!

  • always interesting what fox and their fans think is an argument that “destroys” anything but their own credibility. engaging in abusive language and bullying is not WINNING! or lying. or having a temper tantrum. scary that they have as large an audience they do.

  • BaddogLtd

Repost cause this never goes out of style. Thanx again Grace Smith.

  • killercorgi

First law of discourse in the 21st century: don’t feed the trolls.

  • TreGibbs

There is no debating the issue, no more than there is a debate re: interracial marriage. It’s about equal protections under the law. Plain and simple. If your argument is that one segment of the population does not deserve to have the rights that the majority has, well then you are wrong and you are a bigot. Why is that so hard for these idiots to understand?

    • John P.

That’s what I couldn’t figure out in Justice Robert’s dissent. I thought the Equal Protection Clause covered it. But no, I did not read the entire thing.

    • olandp

I’m waiting for someone to reply, “If you don’t like being called a bigot, perhaps you should stop saying and doing bigoted things.”

  • noni

Who is this weasle he’s interviewing? What an idiot. Another Fox plant like Alan Colmes and Bob Beckel and Pat Caddell.

  • MBear

If you want reasonable debate, civil discussion, or intelligent discourse, you don’t go on Fox news

  • No newspaper is under any obligation to publish anyone’s letter. The freedom of the press belongs to the publisher, not to anyone with an axe to grind who wants a free forum.

Also, Tucker Carlson is a douche. He always was. That’s hardly news. He can call the editor’s views abhorrent but the editor is entitled to act like bigoted views aren’t bigoted? Wow.

Also, Tucker Carlson is about the least butch “straight” man on tv. (translation: who the fuck does he think he’s kidding)

  • Toasterlad

Well, that guy folded faster than Superman on laundry day.

I’d love to know just who managed to make him change his initial policy – which was 100% legitimate – to that watered-down “create a discussion” shit? We HAD the discussion. We’ve been having it for nearly 40 years. It’s OVER. LOVE WON.

I was hoping that we were finally getting to a place where Alito’s dire prediction in his typically ignorant dissent was true: where people WERE censured by their friends, family, employers, teachers etc for being openly bigoted…JUST AS THEY WOULD BE IF THEY WERE RACIST OR ANTI-SEMITIC. Apparently, some weak assholes are all too willing to hang on to the “both sides have a valid argument” bullshit which has held up progress on this issue for decades.

  • Bj Lincoln

Wow, What a dick! Why would anyone agree to be on this guys show?!

  • Gregory In Seattle

I’m curious: does this same standard apply to Faux Noize? Should they be required to air strongly pro equality segments despite their editorial bent? The sword cuts both ways, after all.

  • Happy_Housewife

Jesus, what happened to him? He looks half dead.

  • Terry

I bet Carlson would end up being one of those sending incendiary op-eds…just vermin!
