HIGHLIGHTS: Broadway Bares 25

Sunday night the 25th anniversary edition of Broadway Bares played to two sellout audiences at Manhattan’s Hammerstein Ballroom. This year’s show was titled Top Bottoms Of Burlesque and as you’ll see, it was spectacular from the moment the curtain arose to reveal the bouncing bottoms of buff chorus boys. All 25 years of Broadway Bares are available on DVD and they are taking pre-orders for this year’s show.

What a delicious way to start the day! Looks like everyone was having the time of their lives. Hope to see it in person some day.

Me too. The added benefit is that they raise big money for important causes. Good on em.

And that funding is not limited to the NY metro area.

  • Goodness! Once he got over the shock, Ziegfeld would be proud. Gypsy Rose Lee, though, would be a whole lot prouder…

You know, I’ve always been a good dancer. But damn! Those performers are amazingly talented. The way they move their bodies! So otherworldly. So beautiful.

  • I’m obsessed with this fundraiser. Only got to see it live once, but I own all of them on DVD. Wish we could do something even half this scale in San Francisco.

Did I just see Bianca del Rio? I died!

Just advance-ordered this year’s DVD. Thanks for the tip. Things look especially exuberant this year.

  • SLK in SF

Wow, this looks like the most fabulous iteration yet.

I’m boring, I guess. seeing naked people running around all the time, seeing people shirtless and showing their butts isn’t really that shocking or even that hot. Maybe I see too much porn (I probably do) but the look on their faces like they’re doing something just amazing and subversive when everyone shows their wang on Twitter seems a bit… rote.
