FRC Launches Publicity For VVS 2015

Kelvin Cochran was fired for proselytizing at the workplace and the Benham brothers lost their show after Right Wing Watch publicized a host of vile anti-gay statements, including their claim that gay people are controlled by Satan. And of course, the Kleins were fined for violating public accommodation laws in Oregon, which added sexual orientation to those protections seven years before the legalization of same-sex marriage. But the FRC martyr train will not be stopped.

  • justmeeeee

Hey, the Omni Shoreham is my favorite hotel. Please don’t leave any cooties behind!

    • Robincho

In October of ’96, the hub and I (& lots of others) were reading names on the Mall for the AIDS Memorial Quilt.
I remember that he and I were right after Al and Tipper
Gore in the reader lineup. I also remember that we stayed at the Shoreham, and one very early morning a
BIG fire broke out in its kitchen, forcing the evacuation of all the guests. We stood outside shivering in our sox
for a couple of hours. I still wonder what the real story might’ve been — a grease fire, or a failed arsonist?

      • Johnny Wyeknot

In the late 1970’s Grace Jones did a show at the Shoreham that I attended. The most number of gay men I had ever seen in one place. I think standing in that line to get in, which went around the block, was the first really affirming experience for me.

  • Bj Lincoln

Same shit….different day….less and less attendees.

    • Gustav2

And it is surprising to me how many Christianist commentators still bring up the wedding chapel advertising civil marriage in Coeur d’Alene even when the very site they are bitching on has debunked the nonsense.

      • Herald

Truth vs the christianist animus / martyr complex – the animus / martyr complex wins every time

    • vorpal

It’s okay. They’ll just count each one eight times like they usually do. Real attendance counts to conservative attendance counts require a conversion factor, like real inches to internet penis inches.

      • RoFaWh

A high degree of elasticity is an advantage when it comes to undies, but not in working with statistics.

/a shallow, vapid, pititful attempt at inappropriate humor. I have done wrong. Please forgive me.

        • Robincho

Well, certainly no one can ever call you
          a fruit of the gloom…

    • And they’re running out of speakers who haven’t been caught in sex scandals! : 0

    • delk

So much hate, so little time. How does a bigot pick with hatefest to attend?

    • Paula

Would it be wrong of me to hope that a Low Earth Orbit satellite deorbits at the proper time to impact their building?
Yes, I know is is immature, violent, mean and hateful. A girl can dream right? It would make a good SyFy movie, starring lots of D list and unknown actors. Hey, putting people back to work!

      • Joseph Miceli

The sole reason I’ll be watching Sharknado 3 is to watch Ann Coulter hopefully be messily dismembered and devoured. In other words: immature, violent, mean and hateful? Gurrrllll! Come sit by me!:)

    • Anastasia Beaverhousen

Oh, honey you are so right. I am free to believe. I believe these people are stupid assholes.

  • oikos

You are free to believe whatever nonsense you wish. You are not free to impose that belief on others who don’t share your delusion.

    • BearEyes

and a home skooled memebr too.

    • Sashineb

I love it. They keep opening their mouths and causing more damage to their cause. All they’re doing is pissing people off and exposing themselves as racist homophobe haters.

      • bkmn

That is because it never has been about family, just an excuse to obscure hatred.

        • Sashineb

Exactly, and we’re seeing how these right-wing creeps obscure hatred, such as Fox saying the attacks in S. Carolina were an attack on religion (instead of calling it what it really was: a racially-motivated act of hatred.)

    • vorpal

It’s cute that they’re still trying to convince everyone that they have “values” at this point… or maybe it’s intended to be ironic? That’s the only explanation that could possibly make sense.

    • canoebum

      Grand Old Pedophile Party-Incest Division.

  • vorpal

How utterly cute: they think after June 29th that we’ll actually give them enough time off from all their forced, enslaved Christian baking of gay wedding cakes and preparing of gay floral arrangements to attend their little hate summit!

  • Blake Jordan

This is all so fucking tiresome… enough already!!!

    • Gustav2

It’s all they have. The same 3 or 4 martyrs out of less than a dozen ‘cases.’

  • Gerry Fisher

Our haterz seem to be having extreme difficulty telling the difference between beliefs and actions. Believe whatever the heck you *want* to believe!

    • RoFaWh

That distinction is embedded in the American legal system. The courts long ago (i.e., in the 19th century) found that the Constitutional freedom of religion is freedom of belief and opinion (and, I suppose, speech), not freedom of action. This is on all fours with Thomas Jefferson’s remarks about the 1786 Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom.

IOW, the law forbids sacrificing babies to Big Money no matter what you believe. The question then becomes, not “is there a line?”, but “where to draw the line?” This is reminiscent of the famous remark someone made when, after offeriing the object of their lust increasingly extravagant amounts of money to go to bed with him and getting “yes” at around the $1 million mark that it had now been established that the lady was a whore, the only question remaining being what price she charged.

It’s well worth the time it takes to read the Statute, quoted in the Wikipedia article.

      • canoebum

        That someone was Winston Churchill.

      • Stev84

The current Supreme Court is moving away from that distinction though.

  • JJS_prime

You are free to BELIEVE what you wish. That does not excuse you from following anti-discrimination laws, and it does not force others to support you.

    • Gustav2

but…but…but the mere proximity to a ghey means you support their “lifestyle.”

    • Wynter Marie Starr

It also doesn’t mean you get to preach at work. If someone asks you to stop and you don’t, that is an offense you can be fired for.

  • Sam_Handwich
    • vorpal

She seems to have been conspicuously absent lately from a number of these stories. I wonder what’s going on?

      • shellback

Perhaps she was flushed down the crapper.

      • BobSF_94117

I think she found out how much of the loot is headed her way: $1,000.00.

    • bkmn

I think Costco is trying to get rid of her.

      • vorpal

I tried to flush her but she kept clogging the toilet. It wasn’t used to such a filthy, disgusting mess, so I really needed to jam at it with the plunger to get the toilet to even consider accepting her.

        • RoFaWh

Home Depot sells very good snakes and they’re not expensive. Much cheaper to pay HD $30 or so than summon a plumber and pay him (or her!) $100 for two minutes of work.

          • vorpal

Well, that depends on the plumber and his snake, of course.

  • Ninja0980

Lies and more lies but what else is new from FRC?

  • Blake Jordan

That Charleston scumbag was free to believe what he wanted… and look how that ended up… especially with easy access to mass murdering weapons…

  • Blake Jordan

I am no theologian, but does it say anywhere in the bible (or other) that a person’s entrance into heaven or hell is dependent on the actions of others?

  • Webslinger

    when will they learn…

  • Tigernan Quinn

120 bucks to hear what you can see on YouTube? Wow.

    • Gustav2

But the MOG’s will autograph your Bible!

    • GreatLakeSailor

Yeah, but think of the Craig’s List hook-ups!!
And sooo convenient. Meet, elevator ride, romp, primp, return, repeat.

  • Octavio

Chugga, chugga, chooooo-chooooo! Little Nell needs Dudley to save her from the Big Gay Agenda train that’s gonna run over her rights to discriminate against people’s rights to marry. Send money! Send lots of money so you can all be the Dudley we need to keep ‘Merikuh the sexual apartheid the lard and baby jeebuz wants.

  • bryan

lol : Believing is not free with the FRC : ‘ $119 Registration. $50 students.’

    • Octavio

Yeah. What if I only sort of want to believe? Do I get a discount?

  • d.

Just like the religious conservative movement it belongs to, the Family Research Council has been attacking and vilifying lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people since its founding in 1983. Its founders, including James Dobson and, ahem, George Rekers, have long histories of attacking us, including Rekers’ torture (Let’s call it what it is) of children he believed would grow up to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. Similarly, the religious conservative movement has been attacking us for decades.

The best predictor of one’s future behavior is one’s past behavior and the best explanation for why you are doing something today is the reason you gave for doing the same thing in the past.

The religious exemptions these people want are just another weapon they wish to wield against us by denying us employment, housing, services, an education, and on and on.

And for all those deluded lgbt christers fawning over pope frank, the wolf in sheep’s clothing:

Pope Francis Tries to Ruin Rome Pride By Insulting Gay Parents:

Following Rome Pride last weekend, Pope Francis stated that children must have heterosexual parents.

Addressing around 25,000 followers from the Diocese of Rome, Francis said the differences between men and women are fundamental and “an integral part of being human.”

    He continued:

“What great richness this diversity is, a diversity which becomes complementary, but also reciprocal. It binds them, one to the other.

“Children mature seeing their father and mother like this. Their identity matures being confronted with the love their father and mother have, confronted with this difference.”

Last week, the lower house of Italy’s parliament passed a motion in support of same-sex civil unions.

The day before the Pope’s comments, Mayor Ignazio Marino marched alongside tens of thousands of people at Rome Pride.

    • Keep preaching your hate your Pope-ness, because soon you will be needing to rent out a few rooms to help make ends meet. And none to soon either.

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

    $119 registration / $ 50 Students

So they pay people to attend ?

    • bkmn

Only their family members….the flock has to pay to be fleeced.

  • bkmn

It is getting hard to make a buck on hating the gays, so feel free to stop at any time Tony.

  • LonelyLiberal

Yes, dears. You’re free to believe.

You’re not free to illegally be a dick about it.

    You’re welcome.

    • Ragnar Lothbrok

      You said dick.
Which reminds me I was thinking about Penis the other day. Did you know that PENIS is the answer to virtually every question ?
      Fav Color ? Penis
      Hobby ? Penis
      Fav food ? Penis
      Dream job ? Penis
      Travel destination ? Penis
      Fav outdoor activity ? Penis
What are you doing later ? Penis
How to mix a drink ? Penis
What do you see in your future ? Penis

      • vorpal

How to mix a drink ? Penis

Oi… remind me to not accept a drink from you… or to insist on expanding my knowledge of mixology and watching you make it.

I’m scared to ask where you put the little umbrella.

        • Paula

Is that a swizzle stick in your pants or are you just happy to see me?

        • Claude Jacques Bonhomme

“expanding my knowledge” evokes an interesting image.

          • vorpal

I like the way you think. (Drink?)

          • Ragnar Lothbrok

          • vorpal

            Are you offering or asking?

          • Ragnar Lothbrok

            Yes !

        • RoFaWh

If a semen latte from Starbucks won’t kill you, I’m sure Ragnar’s drinks won’t cause a problem.

          • vorpal

When it comes to Ragnar, I’d rather find out what’s on tap.

  • Joseph Miceli

Free to believe? Hell no! It costs $119.00…..$50.00 if you are a student.

    • Marides48

Do they offer a Senior discount?

      • Anastasia Beaverhousen

No but they do offer transportation on the short bus.

      • D. J.

They can’t give a Senior Discount and a Student Discount because no one would pay the full fee.
By making the student price so cheap (comparatively) it shows they are desperate to refill their ranks.
I wonder if Liberty U will make attendance mandatory?

        • Are they importing their own rent boys or are they hoping there is a plentiful local supply?

      • Joseph Miceli

  • AtticusP

how many martyrs can you fit in the Shoreham hotel?

  • Three whole days to bemoan the twin realities of diminished cultural influence and the fact that they can’t bash gays with impunity like in the good ol’ days. They should call it a whine festival and have it in whine country.

  • StraightSupporter

He should post some images on that of all the religious people put in jail for killing because of their belief. What about their freedom to execute people in accordance with their religious beliefs?

    • GreatLakeSailor

An’ maybe another column with some gay folk that have lost their job, kicked outta their homes or murdered by good, loving christers, not for believing or not believing any certain dogma, but for (gasp!) existing. I wonder which column would be longer…not that it’s a contest – a contest suggests the entrants are somehow comparable.

  • Rod Steely

Yet another grifter lying for jeebus

  • J̶a̶l̶a̶p̶e̶ñJoe Smithson
  • J̶a̶l̶a̶p̶e̶ñJoe Smithson

Can we all sign up for scholarships and then not show up?

  • Macbill

They have to cash in before folks find that nothing happens when gays marry.

    • GreatLakeSailor

That whole sky-is-falling thing is gettin’ a tougher and tougher sell. If sky-fairy ain’t wipin’ out large swaths of Massachusetts & Iowa by now, Imma think it’s a ways down on the sky-fairy’s to-do list.

      • RoFaWh

Many of the haters’ dupes (aka the goobers) are unaware that SSM has been legal in many states for a surprisingly long time.

  • J̶a̶l̶a̶p̶e̶ñJoe Smithson
    • Claude Jacques Bonhomme

They can’t, or don’t want to, see the difference between:

      • Religious Freedom
      • Religious Dominionism

      • D. J.

Religious Domination. I think that describes Dominionism to a “T”.

  • Kissmagrits

Weeping – weeping inconsolably. Honk! Will you pass me the Kleenex, dear? Sackcloth and ashes.

  • Claude Jacques Bonhomme

The FRC martyr train, aka the FRC KKK train…

    • TexasBoy

They’ll be ridin’ that train all the way to Fort Knox. There is big money in martyrdom.

    • What creeps me out is how natural he looks in that uniform of hate.

  • teeveedub

They call it “punishment.” Sane people call it “boundaries.”

  • BaddogLtd
  • KnownDonorDad

  • canoebum

Is it any wonder they have no regard for our rights as citizens and human beings? We are about to endure yet another campaign where these professional victims demonstrate they have absolutely no regard for the truth either. The FRC and the others behind the V.V.C. lack all basic human decency. Frauds, the whole lot.

    • KnownDonorDad

They have to scrape around quite a bit to find these martyrs, at least. By the FRC’s reckoning, there should be tons of professionals in the wedding business up in arms, and all they can manage are a measly handful.

  • BudClark

Yes, my darling douche-bags … you are free to worship the asshole of a goat (aka Tony PerKKKins) for all I care. You’re just not allowed to make laws requiring ME to kiss your bigoted nether parts.

Hate on us all you want … I hope the blood from all the gay kids who commit suicide as a result washes off.

  • Stev84

More Christer lies. The assholes are never happy to just believe things. They also demand to act out their beliefs and inflict them on everyone else.

  • D. J.

Poor Cottonelle didn’t make their list, nor did Jeebus Pizza.

    • KnownDonorDad

I guess they’ve gotten more than enough money and don’t need further publicity stunts.

  • Come back to us for sympathy when your children are killing themselves because we are bullying them, taunting them, making their life a ceaseless agony.

Or when we rule the pulpits and we tell your young impressible ones about how they are going to burn in hell, how their very being wounds god and his son, and they are tainted by the mark of satan with no redemption possible.

But that wont ever happen, because we have more humanity in our eyelashes than you do in the entire gaggle of right wing xtians.

  • “. . .the Kleins were fined for violating public accommodation laws in Oregon, which added sexual orientation to those protections seven years before the legalization of same-sex marriage.”

As Joe said, the public accommodation laws in Oregon predate the same-sex marriage in Oregon. But so did the entire Sweet Cakes by Melissa case itself. It can’t possibly be an example of the “threat” of legalized same-sex marriage, because it WASN’T LEGAL at the time. Using the case in this way is disingenuous and dishonest. I know, surprise, surprise.

  • Raising_Rlyeh

It’s amazing how these “originalists” seem to think there is a constitutional guarantee to having a television show.

  • Mark

Oh for fucks’ sake. Get off the cross. Someone else needs the wood.
