Jon Stewart: Thank You Donald Trump

  • bkmn

Trump’s entry into the race has two purposes – 1) stroke his ego and 2) give cover to the more extreme candidates like Cruz and Pubehead Paul.

    • Dramphooey

I would agree it makes them look better by comparison but the GOP mainstream doesn’t want their nuts covered.

      • Joe knows who I am.

Won’t someone think of the children?

    • What?

Just speculating, but maybe it’s to energize ratings for the next season of “The Appentice”? I doubt Trump cares that much about the GOP to think about the party’s welfare. His candidacy won’t last that long, anyway.

  • Sam_Handwich

He’ll stay in the race just long enough to completely fuck up the GOP debates

Rinse Penus must be going bonkers.

    • Bill

Ahhhhh common, this only makes our Country’s Democracy, democratically election process the envy of the WORLD…….snorting way out loud. Can’t wait till Joe and all of you start commenting, and I reading your comments about the Republican Debates, because I
1- Could not dare stomach them,
2- On High blood meds, and I need to keep those numbers low and my GP Happy.

    • Soren456

I think his withdrawal will be even more interesting than his declaration—some “loser” will force him do it.

“The people have spoken” is a sentence that will never cross his lips.

    • Cuberly

They’re doing that sort of open forum version of the “debates” prior to the official ones.

How is Trumpy going to act when sharing the stage. He’s not used to that scenario, no way.

I may have to actually watch them.

      • Soren456

There may be so many on stage that nothing near a “debate” will occur.

Each will, instead, give what amounts to a sound bite—and you can be sure that each will have practiced exactly for that.

        • Cuberly

And after hearing each of their prepared statements, the entire stage will nod in agreement.

          The head bobbing chihuahua revolution.

          • clay

Hosted by Fox News, it should be considered a sponsored campaign event and each candidate should have to declare their portion as a corporate donation-in-kind.

          • Cuberly

            GOP/Fox Marketing & Packaging Co.

  • crewman

That was so funny, especially the end. “Oh no, I’m totally into this. Oh yeah. It’s such a big announcement. It’s the biggest I’ve seen. No yeah, this is awesome, It’s just that I have to get up really early tomorrow for a thing….”

  • Dramphooey

I’ve been thinking about the announcement since yesterday. I was surprised when he was announced because I thought he was just a phony attention whore like Sarah Palin. Then I thought, “well, you can run but not seriously run” like Herman Cain seemed to do. Now I’m actually thinking it is mental aberration.

Oh, he is still a phony attention whore.

    • TampaDink

As Rachel Maddow pointed out, he has 120 days to officially file his papers with the FEC. Which means he can still make a mockery of the first round of debates before admitting that he cannot bear to give up on his reality television show.

      • IamM

Is there some kind of financial disclosure he’d have to file as part of that? Can’t see that happening.

    • IamM

      All the above.
Mentally aberrant, unserious, fame seeking, attention whore phony.

  • David Walker

“He is putting me in some kind of comedy hospice where all I’m getting is just straight morphine.” Thank you, The Donald and the rest of the clowns for giving Jon the send-off he so richly deserves. It’s going to be an awful and wonderful final six weeks.

    • bill

YES I got a good giggle from that comment also.
      John’s show really is incredible

    • Rambie

The hypocrisy of Trump bitching about america being bought out by foreigners then later trumpeting how he just sold an apartment to a Chinese person for $15 million.

      • Cuberly

And as has been pointed out repeatedly, his entire clothing line is made in China and Malaysia.

        • Piet

Trump has a clothing line? Seriously?

      • clay

        He honestly is an idiot.

        • SockMikey

          I think he’s a dishonest idiot. 🙂

    • KCMC

      couldn’t love him more.

  • Dramphooey

I really loved the bit with “Rockin’ the Free World.” I hope Donald Trump will remember Neil Young don’t want him around, anyhow.

  • JuanGalicia

    That ending xD

  • Fyva Prold
    • guest

      …was Letterman right?

    • clay

      his tie should be off-center.

    • DutchBoy74

Just in time for the political season to start really cooking. He’s going to be great.

  • Jeffrey

    Ill just leave this here

    • Cuberly

Doh! Ya beat me to it. 😉

      • Jeffrey

Not that I think he is in any way serious about running. I know it’s just publicity for his brand. I am amazed that people admire him, though. He was born with 400 million dollars. He didn’t exactly claw his way to the top. As someone once perfectly said about him “he was born on third base but acts like he hit a triple.”

        • Cuberly

I never perceive of wealth as defacto accomplishment. It usually doesn’t take much effort to prove that point either.

I agree, how anyone can think of Trump as admirable is utterly bizarre.

          • clay

I guess Trump has to measure his life on what he’s got. Apparently the only thing he’s got going is possessions.

          • Cuberly

I wonder how much he had to increase Ivanka’s living allowance so she’d “gladly” introduce him.

I love how over on britebart the trump announcement article is wall to wall racism, with a dollop of trumpy worship thrown in.

            http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/06/16/donald-trump-wants-to-make-america-great-again-announces-2016-campaign/

Here’s a particular comment that had me in stitches.

“Donald is too smart for that crap. I am positive that his leadership
skills are beyond what we can imagine. He built an empire, for God’s
            sake.”

Yep, possessions and lots and lots of empty-headed followers.

  • KaBoomBOX

“They’re all drug dealers and rapists, though there are some good ones.”

Yeah, the guy who cuts the grass at Mar A Lago, he’s okay. Oh, and the lady who cleans my bathroom, her too.

Maybe we need a “Batshit Billionaire” tag for this?

  • Bj Lincoln

When she came on with, “Oh no, I’m totally into this. Oh yeah. It’s such a big announcement.” i almost pissed my self! That was freaking funny!
The GOP is truly giving John the fodder for a great send off. I am going to really miss him.

  • JJS_prime

When did Trump’s muskrat turn silver instead of lemon yellow?

    • Octavio

Oooooo, Muskrat Love! That should be his campaign song! Thank you JJS_Prime. YOU DA MAN! 🙂

  • Gerry Fisher

I thought he was stupid for pretending to run for President. Now I think he’s even MORE of an idiot for actually doing it.

  • Duh-David

The real question is whether he’s serious enough to stay in past the moment when he’d have to either quit the campaign or quit Celebrity Apprentice. I’m guessing he doesn’t want to give up that show for the prestige of finishing in fifteenth place behind Carly Fiorina.

    • TampaDink

He hasn’t done his official filing & has 120 days to get that done.

      • Duh-David

You think he’ll dropout before filing?

        • TampaDink

If I were a betting man, I’d wager all of the money that I (don’t) have on this being his plan.

      • clay

Between that tidbit and his claim to be fully self-funding — he’s not planning on releasing any financial information.

        • TampaDink

I believe that you are absolutely correct.

  • jeffg166

Is it possible that The Donald has gone too far? Will he be the laughing stock of the world? It is beyond parody.

    • TampaDink

“Will he be the laughing stock of the world?”
Yes….but this will only be new to those who haven’t thought of him in this exact way for years.

  • Rod Steely

I love that he is now railing on against outsourcing jobs to other countries.

  • 2karmanot

10’s of enthusiasts cheered the Dump as his clown limo sped by.

    • clay

Even with his own jet, he was an hour late on his first campaign event in Iowa.

  • TheManicMechanic

Trump would try his best to outshadow an asteroid on its way to obliterating this planet if that situation would ever arise. One last LOOK AT ME before annihilation. Get the last word of all last words in.

    • SockMikey

If you had *only* elected me, we would have the asteroid shield that I envisioned (but didn’t want to reveal to you) in place to confront the asteroid. – Donald Trump(et)

  • Cuberly
    • clay

Dear Sarah, it’s been weeks since there was only one Democrat running for the nomination.

    • SockMikey

It’s not “malcontent’s going ballistic” it’s an “emperor’s new clothes” situation but with clown makeup instead of clothes! 🙂

      • Cuberly

It’s a self love fap-off. Who wants to look at that. Ewwww….

    • 2karmanot

Meringue head and turkey killer, what a pair!

      • Cuberly

Totally random, but, why haven’t they made a movie about a killer toupee? That’s like B-Movie gold right there!

  • 2amor

Today in the news: Mexico loves “LOVES” Donald Trump!!

  • TexPlant

I am so looking forward to the GOP debates!! Better than cartoons!! If only that could get that old crazy man from the 700 club to run!!

  • SockMikey

Really enjoyed Rachel Maddow’s coverage of The Donald and how he hired actors to fill his presidential running announcement. 🙂

New York-based Extra Mile Casting sent an email last Friday to its client list of background actors, seeking extras to beef up attendance at Trump’s event.
    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/donald-trump-campaign-offered-actors-803161

The crowd at Trump’s New York City presidential campaign launch on Tuesday was smaller than predicted: Roughly 300 attendees crowded into the Trump Tower Atrium, less than the 1,000 people his team said they expected.

Still, Trump praised — and overstated the size of — the crowd at his event. “Wow, that is some group of people — thousands!” he exclaimed.

    Below pic —->

Questions as to whether the Trump campaign had hired extras were first raised Wednesday by anti-Trump activist Angelo Carusone, who came across an Instagram photo showing a man he recognized as a background actor posing at the Trump event. Carusone screengrabbed the photo of the actor, Domenico Del Giacco, and published it in a blog post. The photo shows Del Giacco with a woman, identified in the now-deleted Instagram post as actress Courtney Klotz. (Del Giacco has since deleted his entire Instagram account.)

I had to revisit this post to cuss like a fucking sailor because of the goddam autoplay video playing over and over again each time I revisit this damn site. I blocked the video, but I have to do it on every device I use. Autoplay video/audio is plain uncool, Joe, please for the sake of your faithful readers, if there are no options for disabling autoplay, please provide a link instead of embedding the damn thing. It’s bad enough the main page has dozens of resource-hogging embedded media that slow down page loads and often crash people’s tablets and mobiles, but the instant noise has to go.
