PHILADELPHIA: TLC Drops Duggar Family From Summer Block Party Event

Via the Daily Mail:

TLC has pulled Jim Bob Duggar, his wife Michelle and their 19 children from its highly-anticipated Summer Block Party, which is taking place in Philadelphia at noon on Saturday. The family had originally been slated to appear at the event, which features a number of network stars and is open and free to the public – and had even appeared on the party’s official poster. But they have since been dropped from the party, while Little People Big World’s Roloff family has replaced Jim Bob and Michelle on the poster, according to screenshots from the event’s website. It comes just days after a shocking 2006 police report emerged alleging that Josh had molested five young girls in 2002 and 2003 – in some cases, while they were sleeping – and later admitted to it. On Friday, TLC revealed it had pulled 19 Kids and Counting from its schedule – one day after it had decided to run a marathon of the show that heavily featured Josh, which had outraged fans.

TLC has not yet formally canceled the Duggars’ show. (Tipped by JMG reader Mike)

The same channel that brought you Sarah Palin’s fake bear-hunts for a year and “My Gay husband is not Gay!” for 1 week.

Cable still can’t (won’t) handle a-la-carte, so the only thing left for a cable subscriber to do is lock TLC up with a child-protection PIN you’ll never remember.

    • bkmn

You are talking about the Touching Little Children channel right? I heard it is Josh Duggar’s favorite.

      • Lumpy Gaga

Thanks to his edumacation, he couldn’t find it with a flashlight and a remote shoved up his ass.

      • B Snow

Oh, ouch. Is that what they’re calling it now? Maybe that will help TLC decide whether they should cancel the show or not.

  • David L. Caster

Family Research Council leaders Tony Perkins and Peter Sprigg have not uttered a peep on Twitter since last week, forgoing even their usual “God, Guns, & Glory” kind of messages on Memorial Day.

Better for them to remain silent and be thought of as supporters of child diddling than to open their mouths and remove all doubt.

At least the kids on TVLand shows went to public school and socially mixed with their peers.

One of whom might have said, “Why no, my 14yo brother does not come to my bedroom at night and finger me. Why do you ask??”

          What’s not to like?

Okay, wait a minute. That last season took a dark turn. Where did the little girl come from? How did she get to the age of six in one season? And Bob Crane? How Duggary.

  • TommyTune

I heard it mentioned on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that there are now several petitions to get the show cancelled. Hopefully TLC will listen.

    • bkmn

It will be a tough one for TLC. The Duggars have made lots of money for them. Of course pedophilia is a line most wise execs would not want to cross.

      • JalapeñoBusiness

        She’s been a cash cow.

        • bkmn

That gave me a mental image of Mama Duggar on hands and knees with her teats hanging down.

        • Lumpy Gaga

          ummm, that’s not cash.

          • TreGibbs

lol – and it’s not a “cow” either, although the correct word also begins with a “c”

          • geoffalnutt

            Cruntabilly?

      • TommyTune

The day a show ceases to be a cash cow and becomes rather an albatross is the day the show is cancelled. This is inevitable for the Duggars’ show. Then what will they do to make a living? Get real jobs?

        • bkmn

Grifters ALWAYS have another grift in the works.

        • David L. Caster

They will do a Martyrdom Tour. That should bring in another million or so.

      • Doug105
    • Jeffrey

General Mills has blacklisted the show. That is pretty much the same thing as being cancelled because TLC doesn’t just run these shows for fun. Unless Hobby Lobby and Chik fil A want to pick up the advertising space.

  • Lumpy Gaga

Oh, wait. I see that Kate Gosselin and the host of “Say Yes to the Dress” will still be here.

Just nuke Philly now and get it over with.

I’m not angry, suggesting we should remember that there are children victims here doesn’t make me angry. I feel sorry for them, apparently you don’t

          • JalapeñoBusiness

I’m not the source of your anger. That would be the person who did this to you and the fact you were powerless to stop it. You are going to encounter triggers everyday and there is no way to insulate yourself or avoid them. You must learn to deal with them. I am not responsible for your pain, nor will I accept the blame for your victimization. Good luck in your recovery.

          • LovesIrony

I never claimed you are the source of my anger, you don’t mean that much to me. I remark on an post where you basically insult a victim of molestation – thats on you. thanks for your good luck wishes, do you also wish the duggar girls good luck on their recovery? mocking them isn’t very supportive

“what would you say to one of the girls he molested if she were to see this? ”

that you should get out of the cult you are in , women have no rights in your cult . read the gawker quiverfull story

        http://gawker.com/quiverfull-of-shit-a-guide-to-the-duggars-scary-brand-1706557073

they probably don’t look at the internet and they probably don’t want out of their cult .

        • Scot Fourowls

It’s societal Stockholm syndrome for girls and women — and the reason so few leave cults like this. If apologists for nominally Christian men (the Duggars, father and son Josh) are Christian, then we should have no more to do with Christianity than with any other hypocrisy and hucksterism. Let men like the Duggars join another religion (it won’t be difficult due to internet global recruiting) that overtly makes girls and women the slaves of men, and be done with their charade. Then “their women” will be shrouded from head to toe when not kept at home and we won’t have to see the sadly sick fake societal Stockholm syndrome smiles. And bruises with the rod from any beatings of boys and girls won’t be seen either because they can be kept at home (home schooling for boys, no schooling for girls) at the head patriarch’s will. Not what most Americans want, because collectively we are better than that, even if men like Huckabee and Santorum want to be president so badly — and TLC wants to profit so badly — they’ll side with dominators like the Duggar males as long as it gets them where they want selfishly to go.

    • ikahana

Uh, I know this is meant to be a joke and I hate being the joke police but it requires putting both Josh and his sister in the willing/consensual position to make sense, and I guess you can count me as one of the folks that isn’t wanting that to make sense since that isn’t how it all played out. I don’t want to turn the sisters/victims into punchlines.

      • JalapeñoBusiness

        OK

      • brian

The entire Duggars Klan and TLC beat you to it. There’s money in them there victims. And you can bet your ass that the Duggars are going to try reap some of it. Sad but true.

      • Lumpy Gaga

I don’t get it – has the wording changed? On the one on the left?

OP is probably trying to avoid a court battle over libel and defamation. Josh “Magic Fingers” Duggar hasn’t been convicted of being a kiddie-fucker. You can’t call him one. Pretty simple.

        That seems fair.

        • JalapeñoBusiness

I don’t know what you are referring to. He admitted to “mistakes” and the police report connects that with sexual abuse.
The words “kiddie fucker” weren’t used in the meme. I did add another quote that I ran across yesterday, to highlight the irony of their hypocrisy.

As far as a court case, he would have to sue the entire fucking planet at this point, but I would love to sit in a deposition with Josh Duggar and ask him the direct questions “what did you do to your sisters and the other girl? Please explain, in detail.”

          • Lumpy Gaga

The words “kiddie fucker” weren’t used in the meme.

“Doggy style” does indeed go there, in not so many words. (Again, I assume we’re talking about the Hee-Haw sign). I thought it was funny, but Josh D. is suddenly jobless, and probably looking for some hot, litigious action with a consenting adult right now.

Then, I thought people might be complaining about the language “sexual abuse scandal”, used in the “Welcome to Josh Duggar” photoshop. Which baffled me.

It took a while for the penny to drop about the disappearing “Hee Haw” sign.

          • JalapeñoBusiness

I tried to pull that image of the WBC style sign (which is satire and within the realm of the fair use doctrine) because I do get that it is a sensitive and triggering issue for some, not because I’m concerned about a lawsuit. They have many other deep pocket targets to go after at this point. If they want to sue me, they can get an old John Deer tractor and some used books.

    • Lumpy Gaga

Wait. Was this where the Hee-Haw photoshop was?

  • Lumpy Gaga

    What, no Octomom?

  • SunsetGay

“Family Research Council leaders Tony Perkins and Peter Sprigg have not uttered a peep on Twitter since last week, forgoing even their usual “God, Guns, & Glory” kind of messages on Memorial Day.”

That’s because their lawyers have likely told them to STFU and not say a word.

Mike Huckabee should have done the same.

    • Dramphooey

Should’ve, but can’t. I think both he and the Duggars are part of a political machine in Arkansas and he was ordered to the defense.

      • Gindy51

And you can bet Huckabee is very glad his computer disks got scrubbed/destroyed like that police file…

  • Lumpy Gaga

The Roloffs: stars of “Little People Big Fingers.”

    • Soren456

The charmless Roloffs are vile in their own way.

They bill themselves as “diversity advocates,” and are paid well for their appearances.

But they return home to host fund raisers for their state’s most right-wing politicians.

They speak of the “gay lifestyle,” have made racist jokes and comments, are anti-immigrant, anti-abortion, “patriotic Americans.”

“Diversity” is purely a meal ticket for them, not a belief system or way of life.

      • Lumpy Gaga

Hadn’t heard of them before today.

Another gift to us from TLC? How charming.

        • Soren456

The series began while I was in high school. It had its charm then, and was my guilty pleasure (disclosed here for the first time; be kind).

Then it went bad, in about the fourth season, turning to Perils-of-Pauline faked drama.

Worse, information about the “real” Roloffs emerged, including their political and evangelical associations, the disgust of their neighbors, their attempts to discover (by subpoena) the names and addresses of ALL who posted on a blog that included criticism of them, and so on.

Matt Roloff, the father, spent much time as a child in Shriner Hospitals. He showed his gratitude by comparing the physicians as equal to Josef Mengele.

Amy Roloff (not the brightest bulb), speaks of the “gay lifestyle” as a choice.

          And so on.

          • Lumpy Gaga

            Okay. Thanks.

The series began while I was in high school.

Would love to know if TLC includes morals clauses in their contracts.

… and if it’s morals to be lived up to or down too!

It seems like it has to be pretty low, but maybe, just maybe they do have a floor or some sub-basement parking garage level you can’t go below.

Still waiting for any info to break on what TLC knew about this before and during airing of the show.

  • TLC needs to realize that they’ve essentially given a pass to dangerous LGBT bigotry for years with this show. now it’s exposed – this family are a self-satisfied smug nightmare.

Rush is still with us. Lost a couple radio markets is all. He and Glenn Beck are on the subscription gravy train.

        • LonelyLiberal

Rush gets wingnut welfare. TLC? Probably not so much.

  • MBear

    OMLOG!

From the Daily Mail link (this is much more involved than I thought! LOL)

    TLC’S CHILD MOLESTER PROBLEM

    The
Duggar child molestation scandal is just the latest in a long line of
incidents involving inappropriate behavior by a TLC star with a minor.

    -Here Comes Honey Boo Boo:
The show was cancelled last year after photos emerged of star June
Shannon, better known as Mama June, with her ex Mark McDaniel. McDaniel
had just been released from jail at the time after serving time for
molesting an 8-year-old girl. That girl was one of Shannon’s daughters.

    -Sons of Guns:
Gunsmith and former Marine Will Hayden was charged with raping a
12-year-old girl in 2014, forcing TLC to quickly cancel the reality
show. That girl was revealed to be his own daughter, and shortly after
his other daughter came forward she too had been raped by Hayden when
she was 12-years-old. He is currently awaiting trial.

    -Cheer Perfection:
Another reality the network had to cancel following a scandal, this
time involving mother Andrea Clevenger who received two 10 year prison
sentences when she was found guilty of having multiple sexual encounters
with a boy in 2013 who was just 13.

    -Cake Boss:
Remigio Gonzalez, who was married to the sister of the show’s
title character Buddy Valastro, received nine years in prison in 2012
after he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl. While he did appear on
that show, by the time these charges were brought against him he was no
longer a character on the program.

    • Leo Tallant

I am not sure if it was here or on another site where I saw a comment that said TLC should stand for Touching Little Children…..

      • Lumpy Gaga

A nice succinct sign for 05/30. After all, the Supreme Court says I don’t have to keep my distance to have a “dialogue” with my fellow citizens.

      • MBear

I and others have said that – synchronicity! 🙂

    • Ginger Snap

That’s some fucked up shit. Now just think how much of this same thing is going on in the households of their target viewers.Disgusting!

      • MBear

They learned it from watching teevee!

        TLC causes incest!

    • Paula

Anybody interested in buying a rifle built by Will Hayden? I have one.

  • Ninja0980

The enjoyment of watching the Duggars implode is like what happened with the Church.
It’s fun to watch until you realize it’s coming at the expense of children being sexually abused.
These people sicken me, they truly do.

    • LovesIrony

Thank you. I know the pain these kids may carry for the rest of their lives.

    • Todd20036

Actually, I’m surprised the Duggars’ fall have even this much impact. Look at all the children molested by priests who themselves went unpunished.
The resulting decline in the Church in the states have been very slow and gradual.

  • LonelyLiberal

I cannot imagine (money) what’s taking TLC so long (money) to make the decision to cancel the show (money). It just goes to show how much the executives of TLC value the safety of children (not at all).

Hint. TLC, the optics aren’t good. Ditch ’em like you ditched Honey Boo Boo.

    • BobSF_94117

I’m sure there are armies of lawyers from both sides pouring over the fine print.

      • LonelyLiberal

        I can’t imagine there’s no morals clause.

        • Lumpy Gaga

If I had a coffee in my hand, you’d owe me a monitor.

This is TLC we’re talking about.

          • LonelyLiberal

            Regrettably, you have a point.

        • BobSF_94117

Of course, but Josh need not be part of the show going forward.

Personally, I can’t fathom wanting to put ones children on TV after this revelation, but that’s just one more unfathomable thing about the Duggars.

          • LonelyLiberal

They’re selling the Quiverfull movement. Of course now the primary speculation will be, “Did her brother rape her? Or that one?”

In Jim Bob’s case, obstruction of justice would be a possible reason.

          • RoFaWh

Their children are the treads of a Grifting machine.

        • David Walker

Meh. As Chico Marx remarked to Groucho concerning a contract, “You can’t fool me. There ain’t no Sanity Clause.”

          Short story:
When they show started they demanded that a gay crew member to be fired. The production people humored them by transferring him to a more prestigious show and giving him a pay raise, while telling them he was fired.
Generally everyone was told to watch their mouth around them and isolate them from reality.

        • Paula

          Yes, but it’s x-tian morals.

    • Stev84

They have noticed that a lot of insane, immoral Christers are supporting the assholes and that the real draw of the show are the older girls. So they are contemplating continuing, just without Josh:

        Your assumption is demonstrably false.

I never liked the super creepy Dominionist, Quiverful, Duggar family and now that they have become persona non grata I could not be happier.

My only hope is the when Josh re-offends, which he will if he hasn’t already, that he finally goes to jail and gets treated the way short eyes get treated in prison and that the young girls whose lives he’s damaged finally get the help they need.

    • Lumpy Gaga

Despite what justice Thomas has written, a sentence is a sentence: no more, no less. Getting raped and/or beaten to near death behind bars because you aren’t popular shouldn’t be part of the deal. Not in any civilized country.

  • LovesIrony

those poor girls, remember there are victims here

    • David L. Caster

As I have remarked before, the little joy I take away from all of this is in the fact that the crooks were exposed. A cover-up and nest of corrupt hypocrites were brought down, and while celebration would be considered crass, a measure of justice has been meted out.

      • LovesIrony

I agree, but these girls will probably have many many tears because of this abuse.

        • David L. Caster

No argument here. And I hope that care comes from an ethical professional and not some christianist quack.

          • Lumpy Gaga

Unfortunately, this is ‘Murrica, where you don’t even have to take your sick and dying child to a doctor if it goes against your Deeply Held Religious Beliefs.

Let’s hope there’s something ACTIONABLE in this thicket, because child abuse ain’t the ticket.

        • brian

And who is responsible for delivering the counseling that they surely need? The authorities need to step in and assist in getting these girls, the true victims here, the help that they need. Even years late, it needs to be done. The parents certainly aren’t going to be the people to do so.

          • Paula

There is no counseling. The will pray over the situation and ask the jeeby for help. At the most, they will go to a x-tian counselor. That’s really effective!

        • Lumpy Gaga

Ma and Pa Kettle are homeskooling, corrupt, grifting psychos. Therefore, there’s more damage to be found in Jonestown, AR over the years to come among their spawn than the four abused girls.

I take no joy in that. Break this crime family up, and the sooner, the better. Let’s just feel lucky that the kids don’t have a taste for Kool-Aid.

      • Lumpy Gaga

Don’t get ahead of yourself. I haven’t seen anyone get in any water hotter than losing a few reruns on basic cable.

        • David L. Caster

There’s that. But, the hit to the bottom line of the Duggar Empire is in fact a kind of punishment and certainly a derailment of their sanctimony.

  • geoffalnutt

I’m going to hazard a guess, but America’s maniacal love affair with its back-woods self (Duck Dynasty, Honey Boo Boo,,The Duggars) may be screeching to a rickety, wheezing, clanking halt.. They all have one thing in common too: ardent Christianity. Just sayin’. “There’s gold in them there hills!” (?) Seriously?

    • Lawerence Collins

I, for one would’ve loved for them the be there and have to answer for the total hypocrisy.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
Just another pesky bible quote these frauds ignore.

      • Lumpy Gaga

Okay, so the four youngest girls are lined up with stones ready to go. What NOW, smarty pants???

        • Lawerence Collins

Just nothing. That’s the beauty. They have to just stand there while people stand there and stare.

      • uhhuhh

Please tell me that their nutty religion requires her to wear that horrific hair style. What are those feathered sides, fuck handles?

        • Lumpy Gaga

I wasn’t joking earlier. YES, wavy hair on girls is pleasing to the Lord. Google and check out the family pix. None of the post-pubescent girls have “good hair”.

    • David Walker

      And swamps.

    • B Snow

      If only.

I’m honestly surprised how many former fans are angry at the Duggars now. I would have thought their fanbase would be claiming a smear campaign (and I have seen that mentioned somewhere) but most people actually seem to believe that the molestations happened. It may indeed be a turning point, not just for TV shows, but for conservatives having a little common sense and accepting reality.

Christian baker refuses to bake “Welcome Home Josh” cake for Michelle Duggar. Cites “Firmly held religious beliefs”. http://jbw53191.blogspot.com/2015/05/christian-baker-refuses-to-make-welcome.html

    • SockMikey

I *believe* that’s a humor site, did make me laugh.

  • DaveW

We have a morality issue in this country. There is no excuse for what he did, even if as a kid, since it didn’t seem mutual and we’ve heard hints that some were his sister. But normal kids messing around is still treated like crime here while nobody had a moral issue with having nineteen kids, which is very harmful to society, the environment and the brainwashed kids they are raising. Not a peep from the morality police until we get sexual behavior. There are other moral issues we should not be ignoring, but we elevate sex to a status that only it can raise moral concerns.

A society obsessed with sexuality and nothing much more is dangerous. Look at what became of the rcc with its millennial obsession with sex. It has nearly single ha rely destroyed our society.

Back in 2002 when Jim Bob was running for office he said that incest should be punishable by death:
    http://defamer.gawker.com/duggar-dads-political-platform-incest-should-be-punish-1706929035

It just took him a couple more years to brush it under the rug.

    • SockMikey

Wow! …. Just Wow at the hypocrisy!

“Rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes.” – Jim Bob Duggar

      .

      • LonelyLiberal

…except porking your own sister. The slut deserved it for showing ankles.

        • Lumpy Gaga

The fact that their pre-adolescent hair couldn’t hold a perm (for perms are pleasing to the Lord) is reason enough to torture the Jezebel.

          • LonelyLiberal

The higher the hair, the closer to God. Those kids were practically banging Satan already.

    • Stev84

      This just keeps getting better

  • What kinda sick person would go to this event anyways? TLC is blocked on my television, and with good reason.

  • “…Little People Big World’s Roloff family….”
These people any relation to holy roller preacher Lester Roloff?

    • Paula

They have an anti-gay history, too.

    • JalapeñoBusiness

I followed that show for a few seasons, but I don’t recall that connection ever coming up. Matt Roloff’s parents were prominently featured and the father wasn’t Lester Roloff.

  • Jeffrey

“Bring the kids and feel touched by the spirit!”

  • Ginger Snap

And the GLBT’s are the ones that are supposed to live depraved lives, yeah right. Christians pointing the finger at everyone but themselves for centuries, Hey bigots we’re pointing at you now because the lies you spew are true in your own homes, How The Fuck Does It Feel?

  • TheManicMechanic

So much shadenfreude lately. It feels great! What a way to kick off summer! lol

  • Jamie Brewer

Dan Savage’s Podcast came out this morning. I recommend listening to his take on this. One of Dan’s best commentaries in my opinion. http://www.savagelovecast.com/

we have enough problems in the city without adding child molesters to the mix. the duggar clown car won’t be missed.

    • Lumpy Gaga

Especially since they’re going to have a child pit.

    • Paula

I wonder if they will start selling their daughters to feed the family? Just like the Buybull says.

  • uhhuhh

What an absolute fucking shit hole that “network” has become.

  • James

I don’t want to diminish the impact on the victims, but every instance that comes to light of a religious perpetrator and a religious cover-up is another nail in the coffin of religion, and loosens its hold on people, especially young people, a little bit more. We saw that in Ireland.

  • TampaZeke

They have every intention of trying to wait this out to see if people will move on and they can restart their “Breeding Like Christianist Rabbits” gravy train.

  • CB

IMO…they had to have investigated the family for skeletons before they signed them to multi-million dollar contracts…

    • Paula

Maybe, they didn’t want to know.

      • teddy21

They just didn’t want us to know.

    • Stev84

Maybe they didn’t know right away, but people have known about this for many years and reported it on the internet.
