Italy Allows First Gay Adoption

Via The Local:

A gay couple in Italy has become the first to be allowed to adopt a child. Rome’s Juvenile Court agreed to the adoption of a child by a lesbian couple, La Repubblica reported on Friday. The five-year-old is the daughter of one of the two partners, who were married abroad. It is the first case of a “stepchild” adoption in Italy. The girl was born after her biological mother underwent fertility treatment in another European country and has since been raised by the couple at their home in Rome.
