Breaking Down NOM’s “Assault” Lies

After two days of unsubstantiated claims about an elderly woman “violently beaten” for refusing to take down her anti-gay yard sign, NOM has finally posted the police report on the incident. Let’s break the lies one-by-one, shall we?
FIRST LIE: The woman was NOT coming home from church, she was at another man’s house looking for her sister, who may be living with the man in question.

SECOND LIE: As the Robeson County Sheriff’s Department told to me on the phone and as is confirmed by the police report, there was NO yard sign involved in the altercation.

THIRD LIE: Nobody was “violently beaten.” The police report notes that the woman has a “red mark” on her shoulder that was “possibly going to be a bruise.” People that commit “violent beatings” are immediately arrested.FOURTH LIE: The man did NOT “approach the woman.” As the police told me on the phone and as is confirmed by the police report, she was at HIS house in HIS driveway.

FIFTH LIE: Again, as the police told me on the phone and as is confirmed by the police report, there was no “demand” that anybody take down any yard sign.SIXTH LIE: As the police told me on the phone and as is confirmed by their report, nobody was taken “into custody.” The man involved was given a simple desk ticket. The woman involved has insisted that she was “kidnapped” because she was allegedly unable to get out of her car and retrieve her fallen sunglasses. According to the report, the woman’s sister got her glasses for her and she departed.

BONUS LIE: Readers point out that the involved woman is fact 57 years old, which in NOM-land is apparently “elderly.”

You should also note that NOM has redacted the name of the “victim” on their posted copy of the police report, but NOM left the name of involved man readable throughout, presumably to subject him to retribution from God’s Gentle People.
