FRC’s Tony Perkins Takes Credit For Investigation Into Leaked DADT Survey

“A day after we called for a formal investigation into the ‘anonymous Pentagon source’ who spilled the working group’s results to the Washington Post, Secretary Robert Gates ordered the Defense Department to find the person responsible. A Pentagon spokesman said that Secretary Gates ‘strongly condemns’ the leak, particularly since these unnamed sources have ‘selectively revealed aspects of the draft findings to shape perceptions of the report prior to its release.’

“The statement went on to say that these individuals ‘now risk undermining the integrity of the process’–something we believe was already in jeopardy. FRC has criticized the study from the outset because the working group was never allowed to ask the most important question at hand–not how to implement a repeal of the current law–but whether doing so is in the best interest of our military. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is certainly skeptical. Before he dropped by Meet the Press on Sunday, I spoke to the Senator, and he reiterated his firm commitment to defending the law. He refused to budge yesterday.” – Family Research Council head Tony Perkins, via press release.
